Hartman lands Simmons, Stanley for 'OddParents'
From: APP.com

While working on a three-part, prime-time Fairly OddParents special, creator/executive producer Butch Hartman and head writer Scott Fellows had a big decision to make concerning a plot point involving main character Timmy Turner.

"Timmy was going to find this wand, and we needed a guardian for the wand," Hartman said earlier this week. "And we were thinking, 'Who could guard this wand — a metal dude? What if it was a rock band, like [the wand] was guitar? That would be kind of cool.'

Hartman and Fellows, both longtime KISS fans, considered creating a KISS-like band for this key moment in The Fairly OddParents: Wishology because they initially thought they'd never land the real thing.

Last Of The Rare KISS Ikons Cards Revealed
From: KISSmuseum.com

This is it - With the addition of the two cards pictured here we have finally posted all the rare cards on KISSasylum.com from the new 2009 KISS IKONS TRADING CARDS set. First we have an example of the "KISSed" series, (Target only), a parallel set similar in rarity to the "FIRE" parallel set, (Hobby Box only). Both sets are individually numbered and there are only 50 full sets of 90 in existence, (thanks to Nathan for the image).

Next we have the second "S" card, which is so rare it was thought to be only a rumor until we received this photo from Dale Vaughn of Brookville Ohio. Yes, there are two different "S" cards with this second one being only numbered 1-50.

To alleviate any confusion, here is the break-down of the Letter Series Cards: There are two different costume cards; KKI, that has a swatch of Gene's pants and KK2 that has one from Gene"s Farewell Jumpsuit. Each has 5 variations - a non-numbered card that has the cloth showing through a circle and then 4 different "Letter" Cards that spell out the KISS logo. The Letter "K" cards are numbered 1-249 in copper foil. Letter "I" is numbered 1-149 in silver foil. The first Letter "S" Card is numbered 1-99 in gold foil and the second "S" is numbered only 1-50 in blue foil.

If any of this seems confusing, visit the KISS IKONS TRADING CARD page for detailed listings and explanations of all the parallels, sub-sets and rarities.

Stand Up If You Want A Little KISS
From: The Sudbury Star

Richard P. Migneault has seen KISS perform nine times, but nothing would be sweeter than seeing them again, this time in Sudbury.

"As a KISS fan, that's a big deal," he said. "For the last 32 years, every time you wanted to go see KISS, you had to travel abroad."

KISS is touring North America this fall and they are choosing the venues based on fan voting.

"You want us to play, you want us to come to your city, you let us know," Paul Stanley, of KISS, said in a video sent out from a South American tour stop. "You stand up and you be counted."

The top 40 cities are shown, but it is unclear how many venues the band will play.

Bruce Kulick Recors With The Star Brothers
From: Superstar

As my brother and I get closer to finishing this CD called "Serenity", we are reminded everyday as we listen to our demos just how far we have come. It seems like yesterday that we had one of our childhood heroes, Bruce Kulick, in for a session. I wrote about it in my recording session blog. He worked with us on two tracks. One is called "Do It For You", and the other, if you remember, is "Abuse Me". "Abuse Me" is a weird song. It's very KISS-like up front, but then eventually settles in to a Beatles-type bridge section, only to go right back in to a KISS-type arrangement for the chorus. It is a delicate beast. The song is about my love affair with drugs, so it takes you through a wide array of emotions. We had to set it up this way so we'd able to communicate the message of the dangers of drugs. I have to say, thank god we chose Bruce to play on this track. He nailed it, note for note, and took the initiative and thought of a few extra things that never even crossed our minds that worked great for this tune. That is the difference between a pro and someone who just plays for fun. From his years of playing, Bruce just has this vast array of tools that he is able to pick and choose from and he is able to use these tools and ideas to best complement a song like this.

This is obviously what he did with all the KISS songs he worked on as well. Thus, this is why we have grown to love this guy. What a great player! Since I have received so many requests for some sort of sample from one of our songs, I have chosen to show off the end of "Abuse Me", featuring the almighty Kulick on lead guitar. I wanted to give you an idea of what to expect from everyone's (including Bruce's) effort. So by popular demand, here is the end of 'Abuse Me'. (Also featuring Zak Stevens from SAVATAGE, CIRCLE II CIRCLE) on vocals. Remember, it's un-mixed and in its rawest form, but it should give you an idea of what to expect. Rock Star is on rhythm and yours truly is on the drums.

Pat Sommers: "Paul Was Larger Than Life"
From: Rockpages.gr

We continue our KISS special feature with the 26th interview of a KISS-related figure. This week, Pat Sommers, a collaborator of Ace Frehley during the recordings of Trouble Walkin' and a...regular "figure" at the Aucoin offices in the 70s, tells us what he remembers from that Rocket Ride! Here's an excerpt:

Rockpages.gr: Describe to us the whole atmosphere in Aucoin offices in the 70s...

Pat Sommers: It was very much like a family back then. I was allowed into the office countless times almost like a little mascot...lol. It was actually Gene Simmons who took me back to the conference room to watch the beta/video of KIDS ARE PEOPLE TOO back in 1980. The Secretary told the story to Gene about my missing the show due to being in the Hospital, so he set me up in front of a video player and I watched the whole thing while he was talking with Bill Aucoin. I could not believe I was sitting there staring at those awesome marionettes that Bill had made for the band that only two years ago I had been looking at them in CREEM magazine. Gene was super nice to have done that for me...I'll never forget it. Everyone was always happy and a lot of joking around. They would give me white label copies of the upcoming Kiss albums with the promise I told nobody that I had one...starting with Double Platinum on. I also remember being invited to see them at Madison Square garden by one of the girls from the press office and I had the best time. The other thing I remember was the chaos that was going on in the office when KISS was replacing Peter Criss…there were people everywhere, all the time. Running around doing all kinds of things, phones ringing off the hook and one day... Eric Carr was picked as the new KISS drummer. It was real hush hush , and I was invited to Eric's first show at The Palladium in NYC. It was one of the best KISS shows I ever saw.

KISS And Make-up
From: The Sun

ARTIST James Kuhn faces up to a new challenge every day. For the wacky painter uses his own mug as a canvas for a new image every 24 hours.

For 365 days running, James painted everything from a juicy hamburger and a bunch of bananas to a weightlifter on his mug.

James, 47, admits: "The worst bit is painting the inside of my nostrils because I end up spitting out the colour for hours."

Famous figures the American has painstakingly daubed on to his face includes rock legends KISS (pictured).

James, from Three Oaks, Michigan, was inspired to be an artist by the work of Picasso.

The Greatest Singers Of Rock
From: Classic Rock Magazine

We're talking about singers - no screamers, no screechers, no foghorn-voiced frontmen. Over 20 pages we look at the best rock singers ever to have drawn breath and then let it out to such stunning effect.

PAUL STANLEY

"KISS' show was amazing, but I think the fact that their show was so spectacular often caused you to overlook how good Paul's voice was." - Billy Squier

A consummate hard-rock vocalist, over four glorious decades Paul Stanley has carved out his rightful place among rock's Mount Rushmore of singers. Combining primal power and passion with the brimstone fury of an evangelical preacher, Stanley's multi-octave voice electrified such KISS classics as "Love Gun", "Detroit Rock City", and "Strutter".

Ace Review From Right Turn Supergroup Boston Concert
From: Christopher F. Allin

Ace Frehley was second on the bill last night in Boston, MA for the benefit concert held each year for the RIGHT TURN drug and alcohol treatment organization. Although the event was headlined by Alice Cooper (27 years sober), it was just as clearly an Ace crowd.

On Saturday, in a second location in Cambridge (right near Harvard University) Ace, Alice, and the other members of the SUPERGROUP backing band rehearsed for three hours. Lucky radio station winners watched an hour of it, and received autographs from everyone.

KISS Made Venezuela Shudder
From: KISSonline.com

Last Friday, I was lucky enough to be present in one of the most impressive concerts ever present in our country. The hard rock band KISS made Venezuela shudder.

It was on April 17th, a day that will be part of history for being magical and full of energy. An energy that held since very early hours of the morning and even more, as many of us may not have slept for days in anticipation, longing every minute for seeing the hottest band of the world.

A big black curtain with the word KISS printed in silver letters hid what was behind it, 4 blinding stars that invited us to rock and let our emotions go free without fear.

Paul, Gene, Tommy and Eric were the hosts of the night, each one on their very particular style.

Paul Stanley Donates First Bottles Of Signature Wine
From: KISSArmyAustralia.com

Paul Stanley of rock band KISS fame will donate the first wines exclusively bottled for his new "Paul Stanley Collection" Wine Series to be auctioned simultaneously in Melbourne and Sydney on 30 May to raise funds for vital Red Cross services.

Paul Stanley, currently in studio creating the latest KISS album, but also spending much of his time painting art, has now developed his own business painting and selling his art. Paul Stanley original paintings sell in excess of US$60,000 a piece to collectors and KISS fans alike.

Paul has been working with friend and fellow wine lover Andrew Roper on the creation of his own wine for the US market, and as he was saddened by the recent Victorian bushfires, he suggested that the first wines out of the barrels (made exclusively for his own brand to be released in the USA in 2010), be donated to Red Cross, whose work includes helping people during emergencies.

An Unforgettable KISS Set Caracas On Fire
From: KISSonline.com

The KISS concert in Caracas, Venezuela last Friday night was an experience out of this world, it was mind blowing...Words cannot express how it was like to be there at the stadium seeing, enjoying, breathing, and feeling KISS ALIVE!! During the show we had everything, since flames, explosions, fireworks, smoke, blood and even the rain decided to join us for a few minutes. The atmosphere was pure, exquisite, and raw rock and roll, we wanted the best and we got it!!

Definitely it was beyond my wildest dreams. A night that will always remain in my heart, a dream come true! Two and half hours of an impeccable display of sound, an amazing talent, greatness and perfection... Plus the charisma of one of the best front man ever in rock history, Mr Paul Stanley, who kept during the whole show an incredible chemistry with the audience. One of the highlights for me was having Paul flying all over me, that was the most surreal moment of my life, he looked like coming out from a magazine and suddenly there he was all glamorous and stylish with his big boots in front of me singing Love Gun. I felt like I was inside of a DVD or something.

The whole show was filled with a great vibe, heat and a fantastic energy and adrenaline, the heaven got on fire and so we all did!! And to make the night even more memorable, they played with the help of the audience Forever, it was very moving, I was certainly one of the people screaming for it hehe...

KISS Fans Put Sault In Running For Concert
From: The Sault Star

Cdr. Paul Berlingieri of Kiss Army headquarters, Sault Ste. Marie division, was "ecstatic" when his favourite rockers announced they would conduct their upcoming summer and fall tour based on the whims of their fans.

"I figured there must be a way to get people to vote," said Berlingieri, who in real life is a 33-year-old elementary school teacher.

In what is believed to be the first-ever "fan-directed tour," Kiss is literally asking their fans to tell them where to go, "whether they have to play a big city like Detroit or a corn field in Iowa," he said.

A Message From Bruce Kulick
From: Kulick.net

I want to share with you all my latest international trip, my long journey to Australia for 4 guitar clinics. After two exciting 3 day weekends in Vegas performing with Monster Circus, it was a stressful Sunday before my long flight. I had a late Saturday night performance at the Hilton, and said my goodbyes to the band and staff from Monster Circus. With only an hour of sleep, it was off to Vegas airport to catch the first plane back to LA.

Once I came home I grabbed 3 hours of sleep, and then it was time for final packing before heading to LAX for that 16 hour journey to Melbourne. Knowing how many smiling faces I would see "down under" made the trip easier of course in combination with the sleeping pill that worked wonders on my tired body! When I arrived in Melbourne on Tuesday morning, (since you travel over the international date line it takes almost TWO days to get there) I was greeted by Vince Sanna my tour manager from the ALLANS music chain that booked me at 4 stores in different cities. Vince was happy to tell me that the clinics in both Melbourne and Brisbane were sold out with many people still calling for tickets and that the last two were already close to being SRO. That was quite a good welcoming for a tired BK.

"KISS has been part of my life since I was six years old," he said. Andrews has seen KISS in concert 24 times, attended fan conventions and watched the band through its different phases.

Now he's watching the band's resurgence of popularity, he said.

More Illusive KISS Ikons Trading Cards Surfacing This Week
From: KISSasylum.com

Some new images and information about the rare insert cards for the KISS IKONS TRADING CARDS have recently come to light. First, Dave Berg sent us this image of the ultra-rare Gene Simmons Instant-Win Autograph card. Dave can trade this card in for an autographed photo of the Demon himself! We have yet to hear of anyone winning a Paul Stanley Instant-Win card, so if you find one, please send us an image.

Also surfacing this week is the illusive Letter "I" Costume Card. It was actually unclear if this variant even existed, but here it is. As it stands now, the letter "K" cards are limited to 249, the "I" cards to 149 and the "S" cards 99. If it were only that simple.... We've found out that the "S" card of the Gene Simmons Pants clothing swatch card is actually limited to only 50 numbered cards! (the jumpsuit "S" swatch card is numbered 1-99). We've yet to see a good image of one of the Pants "S" cards, so please let us know if you find one!

If this all sounds confusing, visit the KISS IKONS TRADING CARDS page for a clear list of all the variants and numbered sub-sets.

Three Days Of Peter Criss At Chiller Convention
From: KISSasylum.com

Original KISS drummer Peter Criss made himself very accessible to the public last Friday evening, all day Saturday and all day Sunday. Thousands of fans were able to meet their long-time idol for autographs, photos and pleasant conversation.

"Peter was so much fun to meet", says Kristen Kerner who drove all the way from Pittsburgh PA, "He signed a very nice, clean autograph for me on a drumhead and we briefly talked about new KISS, old KISS, what he's doing now as well as future projects. When the first picture I took with him didn't turn out, he was glad to do a second. He was smiling the whole time and made us all feel good to be there".

Joel McDivitt of New Jersey tells us, "Peter signed my guitar case that I have dragged miles to get signed. Peter brings me one step closer to having it complete".

John DeNobile, (pictured), wrote us saying, "Just back from Chiller Thetre NJ- Peter was in great spirits, His Wife Gigi was great overall nice experience".

Quite a rare treat to have this marathon face-to-face public exchange with the fans. If you missed it, you missed a truly exciting time - not only to meet the Catman but to be able to hang out with the thousands of other KISS fans at this weekend-long event!

Ace Debuts New Track At Amoeba Music
From: Ray Miller (Photo by Bobby Cardenas)

In a surprise move at today's Record Store Day Celebration at Amoeba Music in Los Angeles, California, Ace Frehley debuted a new song called Pain in the Neck from his forthcoming CD Anomaly.

A store full of fans that turned out to see the iconic rock guitarist were stunned by the surprise release, and responded with wild enthusiasm at the new debut. Immediately after the song played, the store broke out in applause. "Very cool...heavy...reminds me of early KISS" said fan Curtis Feliszak of Burbank.

An exact release date for Anomaly has not been set, but an announcement is expected in the next two weeks on AceFrehley.com. Ace is currently planning a world tour in support of the CD, and promises many more promotional appearances as the CD release gets closer.

KISS Rocked Caracas
From: El Universal

A few minutes of rain almost soaked the fans' celebration of KISS in Caracas. "I have been waiting 20 years hoping to see them live," said Johnny Pettrus, 41, that attended the concert at the Rinconada along with his wife. "Unless it rains fire, we are going to be here until the end. KISS fans are titans," he said.

But he was not the only one who would enjoy the show that drew thousands of followers during two hours of rock and emotion. The first clue to Caracas that KISS was starting happened at 9:36 p.m, when a gigantic silver-plated curtain fell, covering the stage and its four screens. The simple intro of "Won't Get Fooled Again" led into "Deuce," and the fans awaited their idols. And, as the fans had predicted, not only were there people 30 to 40 years old, but there was also a tiny baby in the crowd, barely a few months of age.

"Strutter" and "Got to Choose" followed in the list of songs that KISS chose to close its Latin American tour. When it was time to play "Hotter than Hell," the Demon (Simmons) took a sword and spit fire, with shouts and applause from the euphoric crowd.

Rare Subsets Of The New KISS Ikons Trading Card Beginning To Surface
From: KISSasylum.com

Several unannounced rare insert and sub-sets of the new KISS Ikons Trading Cards have begun to show up to the lucky few who have been diligently opening up packs the last 48 hours of their release. The KISS Costume clothing swatch cards KK1 and KK2 have now been discovered to each have two separate "letter" variants which are basically the same card but with either a die-cut letter "K" or "S" over the swatch and are numbered 1-249 and 1-99 respectively, (the regular Costume Card is not numbered).

More significant are the Printing Plate cards - a rare insert set that took collectors by surprise! These cards are made of aluminum metal and cut from the actual mechanical printing plate from this run of cards. It is unclear of the actual number, but there could be as many as 720 unique cards, ?(In the printing process, there are 4 color passes that need to be made to produce a full color image: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. Therefore each card has 4 plates for the front and 4 for the back of 90 cards for a total of 720). The printing plate cards are all unique and each is numbered "1 of 1".

We have yet to have anyone send us an image of one of the ultra-rare Autograph Redemption Cards. If you find one, please do let us know and we will post your lucky find here on KISSasylum.com. There are only 100 of these cards randomly inserted throughout the circulating packs of cards.

KISS Rocked Lima
From: El Fantasma

I could say many things about the historic KISS concert on April 14 at the Estadio Nacional:

To see in person, Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer, on stage was the crystallization of a dream that seemed impossible.

That the band gave everything they had on stage that night. That the parallel pyrotechnics with the music was impressive. That it affected me so much to see thousands of people like me with their faces painted like our idols. That I was touched until the tears started flowing when listening to songs that have become hymns to me, like "Hotter Than Hell", "C'Mon and Love Me", "Rock & Roll all Nite", "Lick it Up", "I Was Made for Lovin' You", "Love Gun" and "Detroit Rock City."

My wife had never been to a rock concert. Sure, she'd seen a variety of shows and performances here in Peru, but she'd never seen a good old-fashioned rock and roll meltdown. So, when I found out that KISS was coming to Lima, I immediately rushed out to buy some tickets. I figured that my wife might as well be baptized by fire, and what better band to introduce you to rock than KISS! She was really excited about the idea right up until she saw the episode of "Family Guy" where the husband takes his wife to KISS only to have Paul Stanley stick a microphone in her face during the show and...gasp...she doesn't know the words! Seeing this show traumatized my wife (she was sure the same thing was going to happen to her, thus bringing the show to an embarrassing halt), so she immediately started downloading KISS songs and practicing them with her students in class!

By the time the concert date arrived, we were ready! However, the absolute craziness of the swarming masses arriving at the Estadio Nacional took us a little by surprise. Making our way up Arequipa was a series of stops and starts, but that's what you have to expect when you have a gathering of 30,000 plus people. Such things don't happen everyday, you have to feed off the energy!

The thronging masses waited in the Estadio listening to blasting music from the towering speakers and waiting for the massive "KISS" blazoned curtain to fall. Suddenly a voice bellowed from the darkness, "Lima, you wanted it, you've got it!" and the curtain fell, the music swelled, and a massive fireball exploded into the night.

Standing on stage in their fairly intimidating (in the case of Gene Simmons anyway) spandex, leather, metal, high-heel, face-painted ensembles, was the legendary quartet of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer. Stanley started the show at the top of his voice, but by the end he was spent (although that didn't stop him from heroically continuing with all the old KISS favorites long into the night).

Paul Stanley Washburn Guitars
From: BoogieStreet.com

Things don't always happen in 'order'. So is life, right? Well, we have gotten a few of our PS5 series Paul Stanley Preacher guitars in recently from the FIRST RUN. This first run features a chrome set of Seymour Duncan humbuckers. A JB in the bridge position and a '59 in the neck. The run is a total of 8 pieces.

While chatting recently with Terry Atkins, Washburn's Custom Shop Director, I mentioned that I was looking for more PS5 guitars as soon as he could deliver... as the response has been AMAZING! He suggested sending 2 from the 2nd run - NOW. The second run was commissioned by BSG with Seymour Duncan 'Custom Shop' GOLD Plain Covered humbuckers!

So - yesterday, #1 of 8 and #5 of 8 arrived. #5 was on hold for my great Canadian friend and customer, Dave. And I have a feeling #1 won't make it past today. But we will see. Folks - these guitars are amazing!

Some quick history on the PS5 guitars. In 2007 and 2008 I worked with Paul and Washburn Owner, Rudy Schlacher on two runs of very high quality PS8500 Preacher guitars. 2 runs of 50 guitars. One black and one white. Numbered, custom - the whole deal. They came out extremely well and have been gobbled up by BSG customer base and the KISS Army quickly. While we were considering putting together a 3rd run of PS8500 Preachers, I became very dismayed at how truly exceptional Korean construction prices have continued to spiral - UPWARD. Drastically. The more I kept thinking about it - the more it made sense to go back to the drawing board.

Update On Critter
From: KISSonline.com

Here's an update on our friend Christopher "Critter" Smith. Critter is an 11-year-old KISS fan who's battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a cancer of the white blood cells. Since we introduced you to Critter last month, KOL has received hundreds of emails from around the world asking for an update on how he is doing.

Here's a note from Critter's mom, Carol:

"Critter is heading home tomorrow from the hospital for about a week, if we're lucky! Only because we need his test result from the next Bone Marrow Aspiration in order to start the next round of chemo that will decide which kind of chemo and how aggressive the next round will be. Things have been going well besides one scare with his blood pressure. We finally got that under control and now everything seems to be going pretty well! He still seems to be responding to the chemo, from what we can tell. We'll find out more about that from the Aspiration."

"Critter's just thrilled and counting down the days until he will meet KISS!"

Critter's mother also told us how much his spirits were lifted after hearing from Paul and Eric. With that in mind, if any members of the KISS Army would like to send a note or card to Critter, we're sure it would be well received!

KISS Dazzled Bogota
From: Eltiempo

With unlimited theatrics, fireworks and a spectacle difficult to forget, the American band performed for the public, a majority of which rendered tribute to them with their own painted faces.

Under a torrential heavy shower, KISS opened the rock celebration at 8 p.m. with Deuce. A 40-meter flag of Colombia that had the four faces of the band painted on it ('The Demon' , 'Spaceman', 'Catman' and 'Starchild') began to wave over head of the spectators.

"The rain doesn't bother me," Paul Stanley said, and the thousands of rain-soaked attendees at Simon Bolivar Park enjoyed the concert of this legendary quartet of rock.

A Holy Night With KISS
From: Elespectador

Under a heavy rainshower, the band offered Bogota the best thing it's seen in 35 years.

This Easter, Colombians had the opportunity to see live an intense outpouring of rock and roll, thanks to KISS. Contrary to the popular 80's evil belief, the so-called "Knights in Satan's Service," offered in Simon Bolivar neither tortures nor animal sacrifices, though the show could certainly be considered a religious, fanatic experience.

During the concert's two hours, the American group professed its love and dedication to their public, who during the past 35 years had only hoped to see them in concert in Bogota. The show, almost an alternate rite during Easter season, demonstrated that the feelings of brotherhood and faith are not exclusive to any religious belief, but they also abound within a group of people - in this case, the "KISS ARMY" - as the followers of the band denominate themselves.

Doug Katsaros: "Paul is kind and considerate and gentle and talented"
From: RockPages.gr

We continue our KISS special feature with the 25th interview of a KISS-related figure. This week, Doug Katsaros, keyboardist and collaborator on Paul Stanley"s 1978 solo album takes us back in time...approximately 30 years! Here"s an excerpt:

Rockpages.gr: How was Paul Stanley as a person and what's the one thing that stands out in your memory about him?

Doug Katsaros: Paul is a handsome funny intelligent man with a real sense of who he is in the world. He is kind and considerate and gentle and talented - if I were a girl I would have been all over him. I remember being at a dinner in Beverly Hills with Paul, Peppy, a photographer named Barry Levine and myself. Dinner was over, and it was time for dessert. Paul wanted a cheesecake. Barry reminded him of the next day's photo shoot and told him he couldn't have any cheesecake. Paul insisted that he could handle a cheesecake. Barry was adamant against it. They argued, and eventually Paul relented. When the waiter came over, Paul quietly ordered a tea. Then Barry ordered a cheese cake. When the waiter brought the cheesecake over, Barry looked at it tauntingly, adoringly, and just as he was about to pick it up with his fork, Paul reached across the table and smashed it with his fist. Barry promptly ordered another slice, and on they went through the entire cheesecake in that fashion. Classic!

KISS Rocked São Paulo
From: Whiplash

Call them what you want: posers, mercenaries, impostors, the excessive, Disneyland of rock... but it is because of shows like Tuesday's in São Paulo that KISS has enjoyed a 35-year career as one of the hottest and most-requested bands around the world, with shows overcrowded by fans across the planet. Again, call them what you want, but no more appropriate introduction exists for them than "the hottest band in the world" - as the loudspeakers of the Anhembi Arena announced seconds before the band's triumphant entrance for their show in São Paulo.

Everything conspired for a perfect night: the pleasant autumn in São Paulo, amazingly good public transit (for the city's standards, anyway), the civilized, organized feel to the Anhembi Arena (also surprising), and a public eagerly awaiting the most beloved, masked band in the world ... Expectations were really big, because we endured a decade without a KISS show in Brazil.

10 Years Later: KISS Returns To Brazil
From: Comércio do Jahu

Gene Simmons, bass player and vocalist of KISS, is a rock hero with a long tongue. He's an excellent speaker with a masterful grasp of the language of rock. At 59 years, the most famous tongue in music gave an interview on the band's new tour stop in Brazil.

Ten years after its last stop in the country (when KISS played for 40,000 people in Interlagos) the group returns to Brazil with its KISS Alive 35 tour. Playing for 40,000 people on April 7 at 21:30 in Sao Paulo's Arena Anhembi, and on April 8 at Praça da Apoteose in Rio de Janeiro, tickets cost R$170(standard) and R$350 (vip) and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com.

On this tour, KISS is without Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, half of the original formation. How you can guarantee that this is still KISS?

Gene Simmons - When we are young, we believe that a band should never break up or it will lose its soul. Later though, people see that this is not the truth. Ringo Starr was not an original member of the Beatles. Some members of the Rolling Stones have left the band, and the Stones were certainly not finished with the exit of Brian Jones. Van Halen did not end without David Lee Roth. Almost all the great bands have experienced different formations from when they started. A band is like a soccer team; it is not about a single player. When the teams loses, everyone loses. We now have the responsibility to continue the band's footprint on history and keep its spirit of rock and roll.

Since the 1970s you have remained on top of the rock and roll scene, with legions of fans all over the world. What is the secret to your longevity?

KISS Autograph Collection Up For Sale
From: KISSmuseum.com

We've just put up a collection of KISS autographs acquired from a former Roadie of the band. Incudes all kinds of bits and piece of autographed KISS items that were found lying around backstage. Plus, we've also just added some vintage '70s autographs from our vaults that we've decided to finally put up for sale.

We understand the amount of bogus autographs floating around the internet and how frustrating it is. You should always make sure you obtain such items through a reputable dealer. All the autographs we have up for sale have come from reliable sources, (KISS Roadies, KISS Auctions, or directly from individual members), and we guarantee they are authentic. Still, the best way to verify autographs is to simply judge for yourself. Growing up in the '70's and '80s we all saw countless KISS autographs printed in countless rock magazines. Plus, KISS has release plenty of official retail autographs such as the KISStory book and the Butterfield's Auction, etc. and there is almost no end to reliable examples. Do your homework and ultimately decide for yourself!

KISS Autograph collection can be seen here:

Review: KISS IN Chile
From: Revolver Magazine (photo by Carla Pasten)

Legendary rock band KISS and its face-painted, platform stomping, ear pounding, flame throwing extravaganza lit up the sold-out Estadio Municipal de La Florida in Santiago Friday night with the loudest, brightest and hottest concert of the festival.

KISS' first performance in Chile since 1997 featured a barrage of pyrotechnics, confetti, fireworks and amplifiers that left nothing to be desired by any card-carrying, flag waving, air-guitar playing, tongue wagging KISS Army member.

"Santiago is a rock city," guitarist and lead singer Paul Stanley screamed in between songs. "We love you!"

Unforgettable Night In Chile
From: KISSonline.com

The closing of PepsiFest brought a band that holds a legendary seat of honor in the history of rock: KISS, who would initiate its South American tour in our country, recalling 35 years of "Alive! ", their live jewel of 1975. Within the arena, a huge and powerful show was expected, as much musically as visually.

The 30 minutes of anticipation that preceded KISS were almost intolerable. Near 21:25, a linen cloth that covered the stage completely unfolded to reveal KISS's logo, immediately leading to madness among the 19,000 souls in the sold-out Estadio Bicentenario de La Florida. The next five minutes seemed like an eternity until the crowd heard: "Santiago, you wanted the best, you got the best..." the classic intro of the band. KISS opened the show with "Deuce", and people were jumping and screaming along, followed without pause by "Strutter". Columns of fire flanked the sides of the stage and exploded in synchronization with the music. The show was simply incredible! The sound was powerful and clear, and KISS's four members did not disappoint.

Paul Stanley was, without a doubt, the leader of the night. He spoke to the crowd, noting that the Chilean audience is one of the best, that it was "muy loco" ("very crazy,") and that it had been a long time since their last appearance (1997, with Pantera). In almost perfect Spanish, he communicated without a problem.

Paul Stanley Rocks The Art World
From: RadarOnline.com

Besides the occasional body paint and stage make up, rock stars aren't usually known for their artistic touch. But every rule has its exception and KISS lead singer Paul Stanley is just that: an exception. The rocker's paintings often tout $70,000 price tags. If it hadn't been for school, he may have gone the way of Picasso earlier on.

At the famed High School of Music and Art in New York City, the rigid structure and required classes soured Stanley on becoming an artist. He joined KISS after graduation, turned into a rock icon, and didn't pick up a paintbrush again for more than three decades.
