Meet the man who made it his mission in life to bring iconic rock band KISS to Prince George.

Kyle Sampson is a huge KISS fan. He can tell you anything you want to know about the iconic rock band, its members and its history. Sampson got to see them up close working backstage with the show Nov. 14, 2009 when the band played Calgary.

"I'd done some technical work for other bands, so I had the experience. Then I got offered the chance to work with the KISS concert. I did the sound, the lighting, pryo (technics) and other technical work for the show. I've been a big KISS fan for years."

Click To Enlarge KISS NJ/NY Expo Shopping Has Been Fixed!!!
From: NJ/NY KISS Expo

Fans agree, the KISS Expo shopping experience is not what it was in the '80s - But no more! The NJ/NY KISS Expo has fixed that and will be offering an unbelievable spread of KISS merchandise like nothing you have seen in a long time! Think you can find any KISS collectible you want on eBay or the internet? Think again! The upcoming Expo on May 14 will be featuring dozens and dozens of KISS Dealers from near and far offering up the entire spectrum of KISS Collectibles in every class and every price range! Every dealer will be a KISS dealer - no filler!

First, let me start off by saying I have a huge KISS memorabilia collection, I am a diehard KISS fan, and I have been going to KISS Expos for years.... I attend as many KISS events as possible; concerts, expos, signings, and promotions. At these events, I always end up running into other KISS fans whom I recognize because they follow the band around the same as I. It never fails - I end up getting into discussions about KISS Expos and why they have lost their luster. I always hear these major complaints from all the bigger fans and collectors consistently....

"the shopping at this expo sucks"

"there's too much new stuff"

"and there's not much here to choose from because there's tons of non-KISS stuff"

Click To Enlarge Ace Frehley Was Back, He Told Us So
From: Rock & Roll Ginsu

It was back in June of '87 and there's a reason I remember it well... it was the day a friend and I met legendary rock guitarist Ace Frehley.

Ace was doing some warm-up dates a few weeks in advance of the release of the Frehley's Comet debut and somehow, without the aid of the internet, my brother Rich and I had found out he was playing somewhere in Indiana.

We were eagerly awaiting the record because we had gotten a kick-ass bootleg of The Comet's very first show at L'Amours in Brooklyn from '85. KISS is like religion so we convinced a couple non-Kiss-fan-friends to join us on our pilgrimage to see Ace play on a Tuesday night in La Porte, Indiana in what amounted to a very nice gym; the La Porte Civic Auditorium.

Some great HD video footage has surfaced from last Thursday's New York Auto Show where KISS unveiled their new Mini Cooper Cars. Unlike the news footage going around, this includes most of Gene's speech where he explains why Paul is absent from the event. It is unusual to see Gene with the microphone playing the part of the MC, usually Paul's job, but he does it very well and totally grabs the audience's attention.

I have always been fascinated by Paul Stanley's guitars. I remember marveling at his mirrored Ibanez Iceman in the Dynasty program and live on stage at MSG in 1979. Since then he has had so many cool guitars that have been mirrored or rhinestoned. He's had Ibanez, Washburn, and Silvertone models that have been decorated and shaped in ways that you can't miss when he's on stage with them!

It's been a long time since my first concert in 1979, but these days I am still in awe of Paul's guitars. So much so that I impersonate him at charity events and make my very own replicas of his guitars to use when I perform. I don't play guitar so I have to use karaoke tracks, but I still have to look like I am playing. I am not about to use a five and dime electric guitar or a cardboard cut-out so I decided to make my own which you can see at facebook.com/rhinestoneguitars. Please visit and join.

Smoke spurted, the curtain lifted and in rock star fashion KISS took the stage Thursday morning at the New York auto show. The band wore full makeup, stilted heels and shiny spandex and posed next to four Mini Cooper Countrymans, customized according to each member's face makeup pattern and persona - the Demon, the Spaceman, the Catman and the Starchild. The signed cars and other KISS memorabilia will be auctioned for Unicef.

Gene Simmons, the bassist and vocalist, stuck out his infamous tongue and raised his arms, while the guitarist Tommy Thayer and the drummer Eric Singer lunged for the photo opportunity. The fourth KISS member, Paul Stanley, was unable to attend because of a family emergency, Mr. Simmons said. Mini USA President Jim McDowell wore KISS-inspired makeup and introduced the band. In their tall heels, they towered over Mr. McDowell. "I seem a little short," he said.

Gene Simmons, founder of the rock band KISS, has given shares of Intertainment Media Inc. (INT-X1.510.064.14%) a shot in the arm after becoming a pitchman for the Toronto-based firm's social media and translation website.

Intertainment hit a 52-week intraday high of $3.35 a share Tuesday before sliding to close up 10 cents at $2.25 as more than 64 million shares changed hands on the TSX Venture Exchange. The company, which has reported no earnings and no significant revenue to date, has seen its stock gain a whopping 2,150 per cent this year.

"It's getting a little crazy," says Peter Hodson, a portfolio manager at Sprott Inc. who bought Intertainment shares between 50 and 70 cents a share in early February.

Click To Enlarge Bruce Kulick: Interview
From: Metal-Rules.com

Current solo artist and Grand Funk Railroad guitarist Bruce Kulick is best known about his stunt with U.S. music icons KISS. However, there's plenty more that he's been involved with during his long career which originally started in the mid-70's. Bruce did his first major tour in 1978 with Meat Loaf, together with his older brother Bob, and later on he worked with such famous names as Michael Bolton, Billy Squier and Good Rats before he was asked to join KISS and replace Mark St. John in 1984. During the next eleven years Bruce recorded altogether five studio albums with KISS including ASYLUM, CRAZY NIGHTS and REVENGE before band decided to make a reunion with the original Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss lineup in 1996.

After KISS, Bruce started a brand new band called Union together with onetime Motley Crue singer John Corabi, drummer Brent Fitz and bassist Jamie Hunting. Band released two highly acclaimed albums UNION (1998) and BLUE ROOM (2000) before they slowly disbanded out from the picture. In 2001 Kulick released his first solo album AUDIODOG and he also joined classic U.S rock band Grand Funk Railroad with whom he's been playing since then. Now, ten years later, Bruce is as busy man as ever. The third solo album BK3 got released in 2010 and he's been a part of numerous different projects including guest appearances on albums of such artists as Lordi, Shameless, Sebastian Gava, Tim Owens and his former KISS colleagues Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons solo releases. What did bring Bruce in Finland in year 2011 is another project called ESP (Eric Singer Project). The band, which consist of current KISS drummer and Bruce's former colleague Eric Singer, bassist Chuck Garrick (Alice Cooper) and another Bruce's old mate John Corabi is a kind of "just for fun" type of band which keeps on doing small tours around the world every then and now when its members have free from their other commitments. ESP was originally formed in 1998 and they have released all covers album in late 90's plus some live releases including DVD called LIVE AT THE MARQUEE (2005). ESP visited first time in Finland back in 2008 and they now returned to play again in the front of fanatic KISS ARMY FINLAND in Nosturi in Helsinki. Bruce was kind enough to give some time for us and tell all the latest news but also lot of interesting stories from the past including his early career, the state of Union and, of course, lots of interesting KISS stories and much more. From: TheSun.co.uk

Paul McCartney has hooked up his son James with The Cure in a dream collaboration for the lad.

That's got to make up for all those years of Macca saying "cool" and "man" in front of his son's mates.

The BEATLES legend is making a new album featuring covers of his own solo material and WINGS tracks.

Paul has been asking famous mates to contribute to the record, but is also keen to have the next generation of musical McCartneys on board.

A source said: "James was over the moon at playing with The Cure. He's always been a big fan. They all went into a studio in Sussex and hung out together.

"Over the years, ROBERT SMITH and Macca's paths have crossed countless times and he is chuffed having The Cure pay tribute to him."

Other artists contributing to the covers album include KISS and BILLY JOEL.

Click To Enlarge First Look At Gene's Episode Of Castle
From: Entertainment Weekly

We've been hearing about Castle's Los Angeles excursion, but now comes the first look at the episode airing May 2. In the episode, called "To Love and Die in L.A.," Beckett (Stana Katic) goes rogue and follows a suspect in the shooting death of her former partner to Los Angeles against orders. Castle (Nathan Fillion) tags along, and they end up visiting the set of the Heat Wave movie and enlist the cast to help break the case. Sadly, Laura Prepon won't recur as the actress playing Nikki Heat, the heroine of Castle's crime novels inspired by Beckett. But we will get to meet the two actors playing the fictionalized versions of Esposito and Ryan. (That's some solid casting with Justice Gamble and Ryan Deal, respectively).

Rock star Gene Simmons pops up as himself and the owner of the Beverly Hills mansion where the victim was living - we've got your first look at his guest spot above. Other guest stars include Prison Break's Dominic Purcell as a local businessman who may have a connection to the murder, The Cutting Edge's D.B. Sweeney as a detective in Robbery Homicide who questions Castle and Beckett about their rogue investigation, and Off the Map's Jason George as an entrepreneur with a connection to the murder case. I'm guessing we're supposed to be most intrigued by this line in ABC's episode description, "As they get closer to apprehending their killer, Castle begins to wonder whether Beckett is out for justice...or revenge," but really, I'm most excited to see faux Esposito and Ryan. You?

From: UltimateGuitar.com

According to a posting on KISS drummer Eric Singer's official web site, the band has commenced the rehearsal sessions for its new album, tentatively due before the end of the year.

KISS is scheduled to enter the studio this week to begin recording the follow-up to 2009's "Sonic Boom" for a late 2011 release. In a March 10, 2011 interview with DJ JC Green of Alfa Rock 105.7 FM and Metal Messiah Radio's "Heavy Metal Thunder" program, KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons stated about the forthcoming CD, "The new record, which we already started working on, is gonna be the next step to 'Sonic Boom'. Very similar - straight rock songs, no ballads, no keyboards, no nothing, just rock... A lot of the songs [have been] written by the whole band together, so no outside writers, just the band doing what it did on the first three records - writing the songs ourselves." He added, "We have almost all the songs written. In fact, we have too many songs; we have about 20 to 25 things that look and sound good."

Click To Enlarge Gene Simmons Partners With Online Translating Service
From: StarPulse.com

Rocker Gene Simmons is teaming up with an online language translation service to help celebrities connect with fans worldwide.

The Ortsbo website, which launched nine months ago, is a real-time virtual translator designed for social media platforms such as Facebook.com, instant messenger, and mobile applications.

The KISS frontman, who will serve as the company's spokesman, signed onto the project because, as an Israeli immigrant, he believes in the initiative's mission.

He explains to Variety, "Ortsbo takes a sledgehammer to the Tower of Babel that is modern communication. It connects humanity. We are all one people... Any pop culture entity has to be worldwide."

The rocker adds the software can also help stars connect with fans in other countries more easily.

Click To Enlarge Steve Gamble Shares His KISS Artwork
From: Steve Gamble

At the age of 9 my parents gifted me a KISS album, Rock and roll over. At the time I had 2 records, Tom Jones and some country record titled Waterloo. All I knew of rock and roll is what bellowed out of my step sister's room - AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Peter Framptom etc, etc. Never heard of KISS. I was so blown away by the visual aspects and the music that I never again put those old records on the turn table again.

I began drawing the faces and costumes adorned by my new found passion all the time. I spent years drawing everything I could get my hands on from KISS. I collected albums, posters, bubblegum cards, belt buckles. I attribute my career to KISS. Had it not been for thier influence who knows what I might have been doing these days. I can clearly remember thinking to myself nights I could not get to sleep, that when I grew up I would be painting pictures on people's walls and that would be my job. Well I grew up, and here I am doing those things I thought of. Present day; I hoped for quite some time that I would meet someone that desired to have a KISS mural painted on thier wall, of which I would be hired to perform. I had one client years back talk of such a thing but never stepped up the plate to have it come to fruition. Well that day has finally came. I recently met a very cool couple that discovered my talents by chance. A KISS fan of bombastic proportions. It has been an honor to finally make that dream a reality. The murals both took a total of three days each to complete and regular house paints were used for the most part along with some acrylic paints where I had to custom mix my colors.

When my German friend Roman Schwartz planned to come to the USA to visit, little did we know this expo would soon be scheduled during his time here. We quickly arranged to make the road trip & also brought along my local Chattanooga area friend Ames Williams. Ames & I are no strangers to road trips as we had made the trip by car together all the way from Chattanooga to the New Jersey KISS Store #1 last April, plus we'd been to Nashville, Atlanta, & Birmingham together for the Alive 35 & Hottest Show On Earth tours recently, so it was our pleasure to host our German buddy Roman on this adventure. Plus we had helped Peter from KISSAsylum & KISSMuseum before, and I had assisted him a few times for lots of great KISS memories while selling the "Hottest Merchandise On Earth!" Peter, thanks so much for having us assist you, it's always a true pleasure!

It took about 6 hours to get there on Friday and in the hotel lobby was many KISS fans sporting KISS battle wear a.k.a. KISS T-shirts, handbags, mugs, Cherry Dr. Peppers, etc. We explored the hotel and found the large ballroom where the expo would be held the next day where the Mr. Speed stage equipped with light-up stairs and logo plus walls of Marshall stacks was already set up along with many dealer booths. We schmoozed a little in there and found where Peter's tables we would be assisting with were located. We touched base with Peter who was still on his long 12 hour drive into town bringing all the goodies! By the way we were all very pleased to see Alice Cooper was featured later that night on the Tonight Show performing "School's Out" to promote his new box set celebrating his way long overdue induction into Cleveland's Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Alice, though Singer could not play drums with him for the last few years, never disappoints. He is the Godfather of twisted thinking and outstanding rock innovation. I remember him saying on the Brutal Planet tour which did feature Eric Singer on drums, that he saw all the T-shirts in the audience of KISS, W.A.S.P. Marilyn Manson, Bowie, Ozzy, Slipnot, etc who were all his illegitimate step-children. What a class act.

Saturday was the big event and we awoke early for the festivities, hooked up with Peter and set up the booth for the show. It was great catching up and throughout the day profiling the Expo attendees and discussing past KISS Conventions throughout the years and how the demographics have morphed throughout the years from the very early 90s where there were many single fans there to also party and collect big ticket items, to now the present where it includes a lot of families collecting a wide variety of the little KISS trinkets and goodies, and truly a new generation of fans whole-heartedly into the band has arisen.
