From: The Sacramento Bee

KISS - the thunder rock band with the black-and-white Kabuki faces, 8-inch heels and a style once described as German Panzer - came to town for a benefit concert Sunday night and offered a tongue-in-cheek mea culpa.

They may be to blame for the need to replace the dilapidated Power Balance Pavilion concert venue and Sacramento Kings home court.

"We've played there many times," Paul Stanley said of the arena once called Arco. He grinned. "We're probably one of the reasons that it needs renovating."

KISS, known for end-of-the-world pyrotechnics, toned it down a bit for its Sunday concert at Raley Field in West Sacramento, a special rock-and-dinner affair.

"We have families and tables and glass," bassist Gene Simmons said, sitting with bandmates backstage beyond left field. "We don't want people to have heart attacks and fall on their dinner."

From: KISSarmyAustralia.com

Drum roll....

1: It's been a little over 18 months since the release of Sonic Boom, an album which had the band much sounding much closer to it's trademark 70s sound. How do you see that album now? From your perspective was there anything you though "maybe I should have done that differently" or "I didn't quite nail that"?

SONIC BOOM was really good and was the first step in the right direction for KISS. The newest record we are now working on at this time will show a natural progression from SONIC BOOM to KISS 2011 as you will all hear soon enough.

2: From the outside looking in it seems as though the band is quite early in the stages of preparing the follow up album. In going about the preparation of the album is there a focus on creating an album that follows in the vein of Sonic Boom or is it more of a case of seeing where the band ends up once tracks are 'in the can'?

Former KISS guitarist Vincent Cusano will NOT face animal cruelty charges after officials found 4 dead dogs at the rocker's home in Tennessee this weekend ... TMZ has learned.

A rep for the Pet Adoption Welfare Services (PAWS) tells TMZ ... Vinnie had kept all 4 animals in above-ground plastic storage bins, clearly marked as graves ... with little memorials written on them -- and even though it's really creepy ... it ain't illegal.

TMZ broke the story ... Vinnie was arrested for allegedly beating the crap out of his wife ... and while cops were at the home, they noticed the dead animals and called PAWS to investigate.

Vinnie's wife explained the dogs had been killed by ANOTHER one of the family's 9 still-living dogs. PAWS tells us they will test all of the living pets for rabies.

Click To Enlarge Gene Simmons Chalks UP Schwarzenegger's Infidelity To His DNA
From: KTUC

In the aftermath of the news of Arnold Schwarzenegger's infidelity to his wife, Maria Shriver, the former governor of California still has one prominent supporter -- Gene Simmons. Indeed, the KISS bassist tells ABC News Radio that Schwarzenegger did nothing wrong, declaring "If he raised wonderful children who are law abiding and charming then he did everything right."

Schwarzenegger and Shriver announced last week that they were separating after it was revealed that Schwarzenegger had slept with a member of his in-house staff over a decade ago and secretly fathered a child with her.

Simmons flatly declares that what Schwarzenegger did isn't cheating -- it's genetics. Says Simmons of unfaithful men in general, "Respectfully, they're not cheating. They're doing what the DNA in their genes tell them to do. They're doing what they're designed to do. The male of the species manufactures hundreds of millions of sperm every day. They have no choice in the matter. They can't take Thursdays off."

Rather than focusing on Schwarzenegger's infidelity, Simmons says everyone should look at his accomplishments: "He kept his family together and still does. He's an immigrant, a legal one...and rose to power in many different forms."

Click To Enlarge Five Comics By Rock Stars
From: Phoenix New Times

Numerous rock stars have tried to cross over into other mediums, whether it's acting (Henry Rollins, Meatloaf), painting (Marilyn Manson, John Mellencamp), or making their own liquor (Geoff Tate, Maynard James Keenan).

One medium rich with rock stars is comic books. Over the years, many musicians have either penned their own comics or starred in them. In anticipation of this weekend's Phoenix Comicon (taking place Thursday through Sunday at Phoenix Convention Center), we bring you five comics by or about rock stars.

KISS #1 (Marvel, 1977): There have been many KISS comics printed since this first one, but what makes this comic the KISS comic to have is the way it was printed: using the blood of the band members. A registered nurse drew blood from Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss (which was witnessed by a notary public), and then the blood was dumped into vats of red ink at Marvel's Borden Ink plant. The comic features KISS in four different stories, with guest appearances by such characters at The Avengers, Dr. Doom, and Spider-Man. Inked by Allen Milgrom (Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man; X-Factor) and written by the late Steve Gerber (co-creator of Howard the Duck), the first Kiss comic is the most collectible in rockdom. The first pressings of the 66-page comic included a concert centerfold, and to buy one today, fans will need to fork over anywhere from $100 to $150.

From: TMZ.com

Former KISS guitarist Vincent Cusano -- aka Vinnie Vincent -- allegedly smacked his wife in the face and dragged her through a pile of broken glass on the night he was arrested ... and when cops arrived to the house, they found 4 dead dogs at the scene ... this according to law enforcement.

The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office tells TMZ ... on May 22, Vincent's wife, Diane, arrived to the Sheriff's Office "covered in blood" and reeking of alcohol.

Cops say 44-year-old Diane told the officers how she had just escaped from the couple's Tennessee home ... after Vincent "smacked her in the face" following an argument about a "female subject [Vincent] was talking to." She says Vincent then "grabbed her by the hair and threw her down to the ground."

Guitarist Charged In Wife's Beating
From: Daily News Journal

A former KISS guitarist is accused of beating his wife so badly she had to be hospitalized this past weekend, and when officers went to the guitarist's home to make an arrest they found four sealed containers with dead dogs inside, according to a sheriff's incident report.

A booking officer at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center confirmed Vinnie Vincent, whose real name is Vincent John Cusano, was charged with one count of aggravated assault on Saturday. Cusano was lead guitarist for the rock band KISS between 1982 and 1984 and replaced original band member Ace Frehley.

An incident report on file at the Rutherford County Sheriff&##9;s Office details the incident that led to that arrest.

The collected recap from Rock N Roll Fantasy Camp Hollywood (May 10-15)

Day 1 of the Rock N Roll Fantasy Camp in Hollywood was very cool, and of course loud and crazy! Five more days and I will keep you all posted with the news. Highlight yesterday was Fred Coury from Cinderella and Rudy Sarzo and I jamming again. We were all in "Monster Circus" in Vegas a few years ago. My band of campers has named themselves Steph and the Mind Benders.

Day 2 the band wrote a song called "Kings and Queens." This song is very unique and has a great groove.

Day 3 was a great success. Besides a visit by Marky Ramone, my band worked up two songs for our acoustic set at the Gibson Showroom last night: Coldplay's love song "Yellow" and Audioslave's rocking tune called "I Am The Highway." We were great! Now off to record with the legendary Eddie Kramer (Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and KISS). What a blast this will be!

Click To Enlarge Destroyer: The Apocalyptic City
From: Serpent3D.net

The Love Gun stage set from KISS was meant to be the last scenography project from Serpent 3D. Then, original blueprints of KISS' first major stage production appeared online. Not only did this offer the opportunity to recreate what many considers to be the quintessential KISS show in 3D. More importantly, this project exemplifies the workflow in Serpent3D and the level of accuracy which can be achieved with the necessary input provided. Prior stage designs were all made based on photographs and video. This time all original parts of the design are recreated in accordance with the blueprints.

The Destroyer stage of 1976 was designed by Mark Ravitz who free-lanced the project for his former professor at the NYU theatrical design program; famed lighting designer Jules Fisher. Fisher had originally been assigned the project through his company The Jules Fischer organization. Interestingly, three years later the band was being heavily criticized for going Vegas due to the elaborate stage design and costumes. In actuality the connection to Broadway stage productions was already made with Ravitz' stage set for Destroyer. And it was all good...

The Destroyer stage set marked a change in KISS' live career. The breakthrough with the live-album Alive! had enabled them to inject more money into their live presentation, which initially only had consisted of Peter Criss' drum riser and a wall of amplifiers . The idea behind the Destroyer stage set was a burnt down apocalyptic city in which each band member was given his own area. Gene Simmons would rule the castle area on the left hand side, Ace Frehley would perform his solo in the lunar landscape to the right. Criss had the most eye-catching stage props as two giants altar cats flanked him during the whole performance. Paul Stanley naturally took center stage, but the jewel encrusted area especially designed for him was removed after the first dress rehearsals.

Click To Enlarge PodKISSt.com Reviews The NJ/NY KISS Expo
From: Mike Mariacher

I just got back from the NJ/NY 2011 KISS Expo. WOW! What an awesome time my family and I had. We talked about it for hours on the long ride home. I had never been to an expo in this area before (I have been to 14 different ones in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh) but, I had heard the "legend" of the New York expos and had been looking forward to this from the day it was announced.

Young and old alike were treated to dozens of well stocked vendor booths ... This was the most I had seen at any expo. There was an seemingly endless supply of "classic" as well as latest in new KISS merchandise. After starting the day with the HUGE news about the KISS KRUISE, the day just got better and better as the special guests did Q&A sessions. Geeking out with KISS veterans from the classic era was like having one of my KISS magazines from days gone by come to life! THE STORIES!!! What can I say? This was KILLER stuff!!! ALL of the guests were great and took time to accommodate every fan I got so many great photos with the people that were THERE when KISS was just starting their LONG KISStory!!! Meeting these people was just incredible and will be something I will never forget. The evening was capped off with ALMOST HUMAN pounding out a set of KLASSIC KISS tunes that got all of us primed for the upcoming onslaught of KISS shows this summer!!!

Thanks to Promoters Ross Koondel and Peter Arquette for putting this top notch event together. All I can say is ... Same time next year? I WILL BE THERE!!!

Click To Enlarge NJ/NY KISS Expo A Success!
A review from: Rockeyz.com

Veteran KISS Dealer Brian Radamacher, known as one of the premier collectors and KISS Convention dealers of the '80s, resurfaced at last weekend's NJ/NY KISS Expo with a great display of vintage KISS Stuff for sale at his booth. Brian was kind enough to write a review of the event as well as post an extensive photo album of all the craziness that went on that day.

Saturday May 14, 2011 marked the return of the annual KISS CONVENTION to the NJ/NY area after over three years. Many were skeptical and didn't know what to expect since the New Jersey / New York area convention has been dormant for so long, but since we were actually there we can let you know first hand! The dealer's set up time was 7am but we rolled in somewhere 9am. Fans that bought special tickets got advance entry which was 11am and all that attended got a special laminated pass which was pretty cool. There were gold, standard, dealer and possibly others. A standard pass was for fans that were coming in at the posted entry time which was twelve noon.

Click To Enlarge KISS' Gene Simmons Is Bringing The Family To River Rock
From: Richmond Review

KISS bassist Gene Simmons is coming to the River Rock Casino Resort on July 22 - and he's bringing the entire family.

The happily "un-married" star of Gene Simmons Family Jewels will be on stage with Shannon Tweed - former Playmate of the Year, actress and model - and their two children Nicholas and Sophie.

In 2006, the family began production on their own reality television show. Now in its sixth season, Gene Simmons Family Jewels revolves around Gene and his family and reflects how the most non-traditional, traditional family in America manages to make it work under the oddest of circumstances.

The family will be appearing on stage for the first time ever at the River Rock Casino Resort's Show Theatre on July 22. During the evening, they'll be sharing their many stories and some laughs followed by a Q&A with the audience.

Meanwhile Simmons and KISS will be playing the Fraser Valley for the first time ever in a June 27 show in Abbotsford.

Click To Enlarge How Many Dealers At The NJ/NY KISS Expo?
From: NJ/NY KISS Expo

Fans have been asking us - how may dealers will be at the NJ/NY KISS Expo this Saturday? Will it be as big as the Expos from the past? Well let us tell you, we have 41 - that's right - 41 individual KISS dealers in two adjoining ballrooms and even overflowing into the hallways. Go ahead and count them, we are NOT exaggerating! We are PACKED and dealer tables are completely sold out! Best of all, we vetted each and every dealer personally on the phone to make sure EVERY dealer is a KISS dealer. We turned down many dealers who were in the "general rock" category. We want to bring the shopping experience back to what it was like in the old days with a pure ocean of KISS merchandise, the likes of which cannot be seen anywhere else on the planet!

But be more specific you ask? OK - There will be a focus on the new stuff from KISSmuseum.com and KISSarmywarehouse.com. We also have Ross Koondel from the KISS Store with his 30 foot booth with endless amounts of all the older stuff - you could spend the whole day digging through his boxes of obscurity. Best of all there are many, many individual collectors selling their collections they have accumulated over the years. We have no idea what treasures they have put away that will be coming to light for the first time in literally decades, but these types of dealers always have a surprise or two! Plus we have EricCarr.com with the public debut of Eric's Rockheads comic and to top it off the official KISS website KISSonline.com representing KISS themselves and it's always exciting to see what they will be bringing straight from the band headquarters!

One of the more enthusiastic dealers, Bill Baker from the Ace Frehley Archives even made us a video of all his ultra-rare merch he will be selling including costume pieces, guitars, handwritten lyrics an much more!

Check out the Ace Frehely Archives video preview HERE

The NJ/NY KISS Expo has always been the premier KISS Expo for the entire world and this one will be no exception! If you are a KISS fan and are in driving distance, or even if you come from beyond, there is no reason for you not to be there this Saturday.

Feds Raid Home Of Teen Fingered In DDoS On Gene Simmons
From: TheRegister.co.uk

Federal authorities have raided the home of a suburban Washington family after tracing a crippling attack on the website of KISS frontman and anti-piracy crusader Gene Simmons to an internet connection there.

According to an affidavit filed by FBI Special Agent Scott Love, the distributed denial-of-service attacks on www.genesimmons.com, www.simmonsrecords.com and www.kissonline.com commenced on October 14, 10 days after the aging rocker castigated artists and record labels alike for not doing more to pursue people who download music for free on the internet.

"The music industry was asleep at the wheel and didn't have the balls to sue every fresh-faced, freckle-based college kid who downloaded material," Simmons said during an address at the MIPCOM conference in Cannes, France. "And so now we're left with hundreds of thousands of people without jobs. There's no industry."

The FBI has seized computers and other items it thinks may link a Gig Harbor man to a loose-knit group of cybervandals who have attacked websites and individuals who want to regulate sharing music and videos over the Internet.

A search warrant unsealed in U.S. District Court in Tacoma said federal agents pinpointed the individual after the attorney for rock star Gene Simmons, the bassist for the group KISS, turned over records of a so-called "Distributed Denial-of-Service" (DDoS) attack on the rocker's website shortly after Simmons offered keynote remarks at a conference at a cyber-marketing convention in Cannes, France, last October.

Simmons gave a keynote address at the MIPCOM conference and made comments about the record industry's failure to address peer-to-peer file sharing or enforce copyright laws.

"When you're nine years old, they're superheroes. No one ever saw them without their makeup, they were a bit of a mystery." - Dale Kemp

Legendary rock band KISS is coming to Fort McMurray July 2, and while some hope the show will attract widespread attention and improve Fort McMurray's image, one of Fort McMurray's biggest KISS fans said it's a chance for him to pass on his obsession to his children.

Imagine - sitting in the presence of seven of the Elders from early KISStory - Never before has there been a panel of guests this large and this varied at any KISS Expo! Throughout the day, we will have groups of these guests on stage with microphones to tell the wildest most amazing stories of the band all the way back from as early as 1973! We have J.R. - their very first tour manager, Eddie - security guard and announcer on KISS Alive II, Ron - The man who Produced Wicked Lester, Lydia, former wife of Peter Criss, plus more! Best of all, you will be able to interact and ask any question you want to satisfy any curiosity you have ever had about early KISS!

Most of these guests have never been to a KISS Expo and have never had any kind of outlet at all to tell the amazing memories they have inside. Victor, the Unmasked artist will be bringing some of his artwork and hopefully doing some demonstration sketches. And of course we have Lisa, who played Dirty Dee in every fan's most beloved movie, KISS Meets the Phantom. You will really be sorry if you miss out on this one. Check out all the guest details at NJKISSexpo.com.
