KISS bassist vocalist Gene Simmons has made sure our Kids with Cancer Le Tour of Hope biking campaign will top $400,000 this year.

And the final success of Pinot on the Patio at the Royal Glenora Club is due to Global TV's Gord Steinke.

"I met the KISS tour bus driver's mom on a motorcycle charity ride and she suggested to her son, Billy Wapshott, that Gene would maybe help me raise money for a charity with a signed bass guitar,' says Steinke.

"I fired off an e-mail to Gene's assistant, and within four days had a reply saying he would donate not one, but two signed guitars."

Simmons autographed them Saturday in Fort McMurray and the tour bus dropped them off Sunday at Global.

Steinke has been involved with the Kids With Cancer motorcycle rides, Revving up for Kids and the Parade of Heroes for years and serves on the charity's board of directors.

"It was a no-brainer where the money should go," he said.
