Hundreds of rock and roll fans were in the Poconos Wednesday night jamming to some live music by the legendary band "KISS."

The band known for it's showy performances and outrageous make-up took the stage around 9:30 p.m. at Mountain Laurel Performing Arts Center.

The venue has been closed for the last three summers and music lovers say it's great to see it back in business.

"It's very cool. I've been waiting forever. I've been to four concerts but never this close before," said Kristen Buerki.

As Gene Simmons and his Kiss company descended on the Poconos it was clear the Poconos were ready to greet them.

Several lucky fans got a chance to brush elbows with the legendary rockers, and of course it's not a Kiss concert unless the tongues are wagging, hand signs are flashing, and faces are painted with that signature KISS look.

Die hard fan Tom Harrington says he remembers the first time he listened to KISS.

"I was five years old. I got my first KISS album. It was KISS Alive and it just totally blew my mind," said Harrington.

Only two of the original members remain in KISS, but with some new additions the decades old franchise continues to churn out albums to the delight of their fans.

"Even their sonic boom album is excellent. It's a testament to how long they've been around too I mean," said Paul Tomczyk.

This is a new start for the Mountain Laurel Center after sitting silent for the last three summers.

Now finally with a new concert series kicking off once again fans says they're ready to KISS that quietness good bye.

"I think it's awesome. I see that ZZ Top is coming down, Frankie Vallie's coming down. It's easy to get to from a whole lot of areas," said Greg Wall.
