Click To Enlarge Justin Timberlake To Star As Neil Bogart
From: Hitfix.com

Justin Timberlake is making quite a movie career out of playing real-life characters. In "Alpha Dog," he played low-life Frankie Ballenbacher, who was based on Jesse James Hollywood's buddy Jesse Rugge; in "The Social Network," he portrayed internet entrepreneur Sean Parker, and now, he'll bring colorful music executive Neil Bogart to the big screen. (Not to mention, he voiced Boo-Boo in "Yogi Bear.")

"Spinning Gold" will tell the story of Bogart, who died of cancer in 1982 when he was 39, and his rise from a poor kid in Brooklyn to a major player in pop culture. "This is saga about a young dreamer who started with nothing and came of age in the '60s and '70s, believing anything was possible and every risk was worth taking," said Bogart's son/"Spinning Gold's" screenwriter, Tim Bogart, to Deadline Hollywood.

Bogart accomplished a lot in his short life. After stints at Cameo-Parkway and Buddah Records, Bogart co-founded Casablanca Records. The first signing was Kiss, but the label will always be most closely associated with its disco acts like Donna Summer and the Village People, as well as funk act Parliament. He also started Boardwalk Records with Joan Jett as his debut artist. Casablanca was an innovative label: it was one of the first to issue 12" singles and also, smartly, licensed a number of European disco hits for the U.S.

From: ETonline.com

Mark Steines sat down with rocker Gene Simmons of KISS to talk about his decision to finally settle down with and marry his longtime girlfriend Shannon Tweed.

"It is time for me to grow up. I'm 62. I've been doing a lot of wacky stuff for an awfully long time...and there's nobody I've ever said I love you to. I even find it difficult to say 'I love you' to my mother. But I love Shannon with all my heart and all my soul, and always will."

Check out the video above to see more of Mark's interview with Gene and Shannon.

The wedding preps will air in the new season of Gene Simmons Family Jewels, which starts on October 4, 2011 on A&E. The wedding is set for October 1, 2011.

Click To Enlarge Gene Simmons Tells Why KISS Is Goin' Cruising
From: RockPages.gr

In an exclusive interview with Avid Cruiser, Gene Simmons tells why the legendary band KISS will become the Kings of the Night Time World on a cruise of the Carnival Destiny that starts Oct. 13 from Miami and returns Oct. 17. The Rock and Roll Party for four nights, includes two full concerts by KISS and performances by other top rock bands including Skid Row, The Envy, Bad City and Craig Gass. And there will be Room Service after you Rock and Roll All Nite and party every day on Half Moon Cay and Nassau in the Bahamas.

We've all got Great Expectations, Gene, what made you decide to take KISS to sea? The KISS Kruise is a chance for all of us - the band and the fans - to have a ball. Just let your hair down and not worry about it at all. KISS has always been about breaking the rules. We've never liked that moat - the stage - separating the band from the fans. So whenever we do a show, we try to take the action right to your face. A cruise will let the fans get up close. We try to take it inside you, we want you to smell it and taste it and feel it.

Is this the first time you've ever been to sea? No, not technically. For our TV show we went as guests of the United States Navy and we landed on the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz. We had a lot of security there. The Navy even had some nuclear powered missiles underneath us.

Click To Enlarge Carrie Stevens Talks KISS With RockPages.gr
From: RockPages.gr

Carrie Stevens is a world famous model, actress and her resume includes studies in journalism at Memphis State University. Her name is familiar to all the KISS fans from her relationship to the late drummer Eric Carr. Turning back the hands of time, we attempt to examine the importance of music in her career and try to see how crucial was the music industry in the shaping of her professional (and not only) route in life.

Rockpages.gr: Carrie, first of all, let me tell you that it feels like I've known you for more than 20 years. The first time that I read about you was in 1988 in a KISS magazine and since then every then and now your name always found a way in the music press...

Carrie Stevens: That's very nice to hear...thank you.

Rockpages.gr: Let's start from the early years...how would you describe your childhood? Did you have a normal upbringing?

Low Res image, not enlargeable. Ted Nugent Rates Frehley, Kulick, Others
From: GuitarWorld.com

Here's a Ted Nugent interview from the March 1987 issue of Guitar World, which featured Steve Vai and Billy Sheehan on the cover. The original story by Bob Grossweiner started on page 74 and ran with the headline, "Terrible Ted Rates The Players: If there's one thing Ted Nugent likes more than playing guitar, it's talking. Just listen to this ..."

Ted Nugent is the first to admit that his career has had its ups and downs since the turn of the decade, which he attributes to poor management and overexposure.

So the Nuge started to manage himself and switched record labels and booking agencies to get his career back on track. And while he was recording his most recent album, Little Miss Dangerous, he got a call from Bill Conti to work on the sci-fi movie Nomads starring Pierce Brosnan, Lesley Ann Downe and Adam Ant.

Click To Enlarge Talkin' Ace And Anomaly
From: KISSfaq.com

Two years ago marked the return of Ace Frehley with the release of "Anomaly." (Has it already been two years?)

As with each KISS member-related album release, fans' opinions remain divided and every minute detail has been dissected. Factually speaking, Ace's musical comeback turned out to be the highest charting of any original members' latter day solo albums, with "Anomaly" scoring a debut at No. 27 on the Billboard 200. And like most projects, Ace received many assists from the band members, musicians, studio professionals, and various people behind the scenes who contributed to the album. Most importantly, Ace found himself back on the beam in terms of his health and sobriety.

Enter Derrek Hawkins, a Westchester, N.Y.-born musician who grew up as a big fan of KISS and Ace's guitar work and ultimately found himself, in an interesting twist of fate, playing in Ace's band. "He was one of the coolest f***ing people to work with, ever," says Hawkins.

In addition to being his touring rhythm guitarist, Hawkins proved to be an indispensable part of Ace's team, acting as a creative sounding board, attending all recording sessions and doing everything in the studio from setting up drum mics in the wee hours of the morning to working up demos and playing rhythm guitar.

Today, in part one of our interview, we chat about what it's like to grow up as a KISS fan and find yourself playing next to Ace onstage, his take on the "Anomaly" album, and the inside scoop on why he wouldn't have picked "Outer Space" as the lead single, among other topics.

Click To Enlarge Archie Meets KISS
From: NYPost.com

Only in a comic book could a freakish rock group like KISS team up with a bunch of squeaky-clean square pegs like Archie, Veronica and Jughead.

But given the hard-rock band's penchant for popping up on items ranging from condoms to Hello Kitty toys, it was only a matter of time before they wandered into something like "Archie Meets KISS," a new comic series featuring both groups.

"KISS is all things to all people," frontman Gene Simmons told The Post.

And the rock star insisted that while an adult might see his wild, onstage persona one way, a kid would view it another.

DRAWN TOGETHER: "Archie Meets KISS" No. 1. "A 5- or 10-year-old fan doesn't look at the lascivious nature of my tongue the same way someone much older would -- such a thing is not obvious to a 5-year-old, and nor should it be," Simmons said.

The series debuts later this fall.

First thing, Eric, we'd like to thank you very much for your time, your kindness and for being always available to speak with us. Let's start with the interview.

Have you guys planned some new stage tricks for the new KISS show?

We will have some new ideas for the next tour. Not sure exactly what as it is a work in progress...

Can you tell us something about the KISS Kruise?

You have to attened to find out the surprises that are in store for the Kruise ! :-)

We reckon that KISS, at this point of the career of the band, has nothing else to prove. In your case, being a member of the band for twenty years, do you think that there's still something special to achieve for KISS? What are the goals the band is after nowadays?

Click To Enlarge Gene Simmons And Ace Frehley Dine Out
From: Contact Music

Rockers Gene Simmons has moved swiftly to end rumours of a full KISS reunion after he and guitarist Ace Frehley were spotted at lunch together on Monday (September 12, 2011).

The one-time feuding bandmates appeared to be on good terms as they dined in Los Angeles, but Simmons took to Twitter.com and urged fans not to read too much into the get together.

He writes, "Ace and I had nice, friendly lunch together today. It was wonderful to see him. He looked healthy and happy."

"Nothing else was talked about. No rumors, please. Ace and I are both happy with our lives and are not changing anything."

Frehley played with the group from its inception in 1973 until his departure in 1982. He rejoined the band in 1996 for a reunion tour, which ended in 2002.

Click To Enlarge Segura And Parent Rock 'N Roll With "Archie Meets KISS"
From: ComicBookResources.com

Come November, Riverdale will rock 'n roll all night -- not to mention, party every day -- for the four-part storyline "Archie Meets KISS" running through "Archie" #627-630. Written by Archie Comics' Executive Director of Publicity and Marketing Alex Segura with art by Dan Parent -- an Archie mainstay most recently known for creating Kevin Keller, the publisher's first openly gay character -- the story will find Sabrina's errant protection spell inviting a horde of demons to town, with the comics-inspired KISS personas of the Demon, Moonchild, Spaceman and Catman arriving just in time to help save the day.

This will not be Archie Comics' first somewhat odd inter-company crossover -- most recently, the characters met DC Comics' Tiny Titans and, most notoriously, they once faced Marvel's Punisher -- but it does continue a tradition of unexpected team-ups which Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie and their friends seem to take in stride.

CBR News spoke with Segura and Parent about "Archie Meets KISS" and how the two worlds will collide.

CBR News: First, guys, how did this unusual team-up come together?

Click To Enlarge KISS's Simmons: Political Commentator, Hebrew Expert
From: Jewish Tribune

Gene Simmons, the man who became identified with the quintessential heavy metal band KISS as a singer, song writer and rock bassist, has now gained two new personas: political commentator and astonishingly an expert on the pronunciation of Modern Hebrew. It should be explained that Simmons, né Chaim Witz, was born in Haifa and moved with his parents to the United States at age eight. Last month he announced that he was supporting the presidential bid of Rick Perry, the Texas governor; Simons was apparently unperturbed by Perry's fundamentalist Christian beliefs.

Simmons advocacy in this context is not actually surprising, given his public criticism of US President Barack Obama. The former musician's daring avant garde embrace of a type of music was not exactly mainstream three decades ago when heavy metal was all the rage among the younger set. Supporting Rick Perry's presidential bid is consistent with Simmons' leading-edge, artistic-political ideology.

What is surprising is that the icon of heavy metal music, the winner of many awards for his song writing and playing has now become, believe it or not, a source for scholarly commentary on the evolution of the pronunciation of Israeli Hebrew. The story is fascinating.

Click To Enlarge Demi Lovato Is Dating Nick Simmons
From: celebs.gather.com

Demi Lovato and Nick Simmons actually make a cute couple, and a new love could be just what the singer/actress needs in her life. The pair were eyed out together over the weekend, and witnesses say they were going heavy on the PDA. Lovato and Simmons seemingly enjoyed the night as they kissed and tickled each other.

Now that Demi's mystery man has been identified as, fans are beginning to wonder if the former Sonny With A Chance star will accompany Nick to the wedding of his mother and father (Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed) next month.

Viewers of Nick's reality show, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, know that Simmons is a sarcastic, funny, and laid back guy. (Despite his famous family.) However, because of her past problems, Demi Lovato needs a guy who can love and support her when she's feeling vulnerable. Hopefully, Nick Simmons is up to the challenge.

Click To Enlarge Bach Uncovers KISS Album After Irene
From: ContactMusic.com

Sebastian Bach has been given a boost after Hurricane Irene destroyed his home - he found a priceless KISS album in the wreckage.

The former Skid Row rocker was devastated after his New Jersey house was destroyed by the storm, causing him to lose irreplaceable mementos and one-of-a-kind rock memorabilia.

But his spirits were lifted on Wednesday (31Aug11) after he discovered his childhood copy of KISS Alive! in the carnage.

Bach posted a picture of the record on his Facebook.com page, writing, "Ripped today from the clutches of Irene... this is the exact copy if (sic) KISS Alive! that my dad gave to me when I was 10 years old. Years later Gene Simmons was cool enough to sign it for me... This was yanked out of Irene's soggy clutches... & ynow (sic) what? Fuck you Irene!" Can the Gargoyles be next?

The star is now planning to relocate to Los Angeles to start afresh.

KISS frontman Gene Simmons will marry his girlfriend of 28 years, the actress and former Playmate Shannon Tweed, in an October ceremony, his representative said on Thursday.

Most of us have to work hard for a living, but Andy Levine gets to run Sixthman Productions, and he might have a little more fun than workers stuck behind a desk all day.

His company was just named as one of the nation's 500 fastest-growing companies by Inc. Magazine and was rated at number 87 overall, and the leader in the travel category. But calling Sixthman a travel company is like saying Eric Clapton is just a guitar player.

Sixthman Productions specializes in one particular kind of theme cruise: live rock 'n' roll concerts on cruise ships. Two of my favorite things are live music and cruising, combine them, and they're magic.
