The rumored 'new compilation album' is actually Greatest KISS, which will be released in the US on April 8th. As of this very minute, Mercury is saying that it will have a track listing identical to the UK release, but they're also reserving the right to change their minds. For those of you who haven't got the CD in front of them, it goes like this:
    1. Detroit Rock City
    2. Black Diamond
    3. Hard Luck Woman
    4. Sure Know Something
    5. Love Gun
    6. Deuce
    7. Goin' Blind
    8. Shock Me
    9. Do You Love Me
    10. She
    11. I Was Made For Lovin' You
    12. Shout It Out Loud (new live version)
    13. God of Thunder
    14. Calling Dr. Love
    15. Beth
    16. Strutter
    17. RARAN
    *18. Cold Gin
    *19. Plaster Caster
*20.God Gave Rock n' Roll To You
*listed as 'bonus tracks'..... I assume that they'll also be on the US version, but that's just a guess.

  • Mini KISS Japan show reviews
    From: Kissfucco
Wow- I saw all 6 KISS shows in Japan. I will give a brief review of each show. Tokyo Dome- Biggest show of the tour. This show was great. 60,000 Japanese KISS fans in one place. The stage was huge the kiss army banners were hangging to the left and right of the stage. Nothing really crazy happenend at this show.Gene forgot the words to shout it out loud. And Ace got lost during shock me guitar solo. The songset was the same as the Meadowlands.Kiss went onstage at 5:00PM
Nagoya- This show was one of the best. I was made for loving you was added into the set.Peter was at his best drumming. Everyone sang Happy Birthday to Paul before New York Groove. Andre and Tommy brought out a big Birthday Cake. Paul looked very surprised.
Osaka#1- Band looked very tired. The show was ok nothing to talk about
Osaka#2- WOW a crazy show.Gene lost his voice and did not sing any songs.Paul sang Duece. Ace sang all of Cold Gin. Paul and Peter sang Shout it out loud.Paul sang God of Thunder with Gene. That was great. Paul was doing all the oooooooya's. Then Paul,Ace and Peter sang RnRaN. They did not play Dr Love or Watchin You
Fukiyoka- Gene sings again. This is a very small place. It looks like a high school gymnasium. Crazy crowd Before Watchin you Paul played a few notes of I Want You. Their was no lifts during Black Diamond Ace got lost during the solo for 100,000 years.
Hiroshima- Best show of the six. This place was super small. The seating capacity was no more than 3000 people. Gene did not fly during God of Thunder. Peter did not rise during Black Diamond and the lifts for Paul,ACE,and Gene were not used. During Black Diamond Peter said Ace has got you under his thumb. Again they did not play Dr Love or Watchin You.

  • KISS mention on "Rosie" show
    From: Eugene Pacca
I was watching the Rosie O'Donnell show today (1-30) and she was talking about Marylin Manson and how he is like the Kiss of the '90's.She said that when she came home listening to Kiss her father would get all upset. Then later she was still talking about Manson when she started singing Beth and went on to say that Kiss has some nice gentle songs as opposed to Mansons' screaming.I thought that was pretty cool.

  • KISS On TLC's Popular Science
    From: Francesco Gucciardo
"What do Gene Simmons and KISS have to do with Science? Lot's."
-Host of Popular Science asking the audience before a commercial break

I watched the Learning Channels' "Popular Science" last night. It was pretty cool! KISS had a slot near the middle of the show and they basically went over the scientific aspects of the stage show: flares, gun powder, flash pots, fireworks etc..., The company that does the KISS show is out of Toronto and they are called Pyrotek. They interviewed two gentlemen from the company and asked what exactly happens during the show. Well, they have spotters which keep an eye an the audience and the pyro, and the main guy himself watches the band members to make sure they are in the right positions. If one of the band members is in danger of being "scorched" than they won't flick the pyro switch. All of the pyro is controlled through computer and the controls and pyro are state-of-the art... so it is a lot better stuff than they had in the 70's. One of the interviewees told a story of how they got the job and their audition in front of KISS. They did a mock concert, without the band... they were watching, and they fired controlled rockets straight at the members who were watching. Needless to say, Gene wasn't much of a Demon anymore! You could say he was more like a giddy school child who had just seen a ghost. More to the point, the band loved what Pyrotek could offer and hired them.

  • NEW KISS NEWS!!!
From: Gerri Miller of Metal Edge Magazine
"Gene called me today, early morning in Japan as they were getting ready to fly to Australia. He was checking on the progress of our next KISS special. He said the shows are going great, and told me about a commercial they filmed there (Japan) for a magazine in which everything was miniaturized, making them appear even bigger than they already are, like "the 3 Worlds of Gulliver," as he put it.
Now for bigger news: Greatest KISS is coming out here in April. Mercury Records wanted to have something out while KISS toured America again this spring. It will have a different track listing than the already released overseas versions (still being finalized). Gene said "KISS fans want a new record and we do too," but that the label thinks enough people still want hits albums to warrant putting this out. Right now the plan is "to take a breather and take a look at new material in the summer." So there you have it."

    From: Scott Davis
My best friend works for a large merchandising company. He told me a representative from the retail store "Spencer's" came in looking for some information on some bands. The product they were researching was a "snow globe" with music acts. She had some sketches of the product and one of them was KISS. The KISS 'snow globe' had a thick base that featured the 4 KISS faces on Mount Rushmore instead of the Presidents'. The globe itself had the KISS logo with each member inside. The figures and the logo were stationary, with the different colored 'snow' acting as confetti ala Rock n Roll All Night. These were SKETCHES, not a photograph, so we can only wait and see...

  • Ace "12 Picks" Album news bit
    From:Donna
Hey... Just read this on a music news site... we already knew most of it, except the FREE PICK part!

"KISS fans whose appetite was whetted for more after the band's blockbuster summer tour will be interested to discover that a "new" Ace Frehley solo album is on the way. According to Ice magazine, the album, 12 Picks, will be released March 4 on Megaforce, and will feature six of the "best" tracks from his now hard- to- find solo albums and six new live, unreleased tracks. The latter will include Frehley's versions of such KISS classics as "Cold Gin," "Deuce," "Shock Me," and "Rocket Ride," all of which were recorded at London's Hammersmith Odeon in 1989. Ice also reports that the first limited run of the CDs will come with an Ace Frehley pick inside, for those true KISS collectors."

  • Eric Singer info!
    From: Butch Rhodes
I was lucky enough to attend the NAMM show in Los Angeles this last week, and was able to talk to Eric about his current web site from NextLevel. I asked him why it wasn't updated very much, and also told him that I had ordered a few items of his on a credit card through NextLevel. What he told me completely surprised me. He said he really did not have very much to do with it, and told me, and I quote: "DO NOT USE A CREDIT CARD ON THERE!!! GO THROUGH H & H OR SOMETHING, BUT DON'T USE THAT!!!!" He also said that he was purchasing a computer for himself next week, and will hopefully be doing something special for the fans soon. He wasn't sure exactly what, though. I would have asked more, but all this took place at the Zildgian booth as he was signing autographes, so it was quite hectic. I just thought you might want to pass it on to the fans not to use that web site for E.S. merchandise. I also saw Bruce there, but he was definitely too busy. The lines for their autographes were unbelieveable!!!! But they both were very nice. Much thanks to Eric for answering the questions I had asked, even though it was very hectic!!!!!

From: KNN Newswire and Steve Corral
Just got back from the N.A.M.M. (National Association of Music Merchants) show in L.A. over the weekend. I saw the Ace Frehley Les Paul from Gibson. It is a cherry flametop with three white Gibson pickups. As you know Ace uses creme Dimarzio uper Distortion Pickups but Dimarzio has a patent on the creme color so Gibson put their own pickups in it and made them white instead of creme. On the headstock, instead of the usual diamond Les Paul logo, it has a pearl laiden head of Ace from the solo album. It is gorgeous! It is from the custom shop and will probably retail at around $5,000. They will only make 100 of them.

  • Various Ace News
    From: Doug Snazel
Gilda from Rock Soldiers has been telling selected members of the fanclub that Rock Soldiers is tentatively preparing to release Ace Vision II. Ace Vision I was a concert video with promotional information about Ace's fanclub. This sequel would presumably be video of Ace's Bad Boys tour from 1995.
Also Rock Soldiers is active again and recently released some new issues, they are not accepting Captains at this time, because no one can see Ace backstage, since he rejoined Kiss. Any information required on Rock Soldiers fan club can be obtained from Gilda. Send me your request (a-dougsn@microsoft.com) and I will forward your request to her.
Also a reminder Richie Scarlet's new album with Anton Fig, John Regan and Sebastian Bach is due for release Feb. 10th.
For those interested 12 Picks the Ace Frehley's new Greatest Hits compilation from Atlantic, DOES full fill a contractual obligation for Ace. No word yet if any of the tracks were remastered or reworked.

  • KISS Platinum Cards (PSA)
    From: KISS otaku
In the past couple monthes I've seen the topic of the KISS Platinum Card appear a number of times. After having someone inquire with me, I did some further research with band's management, below is the reply I received....
"...the card was not supposed to be a free entry to ANY kiss show, forever - it was meant to be one free entry to any one particular show, even tho fans have interpreted (unreasonably) that it was a 'get in free forever' card... I have had really pissed off people who paid $ 2000 for a card..."
So, the advice is to NOT buy them!
I hope this clears up any questions.

The video tape formerly known as "KISS - INTERVIEW SESSIONS" has been rereleased as "ASYLUM IN HELL". It says on the package that the contents have been remastered for better audio / video clarity. The packaging has been changed also. It has a picture of the reunited KISS, plus pictures of older KISS. One funny note, it also has a picture of gene from one of the tribute bands. It's the same picture that appeared in the guitar world with KISS on the cover last year. I think it's Rick Lee from "Black Diamond".

  • KISS News
    From: FortuneJo@aol.com via KISS Otaku
Here is a smattering of KISS related news from Gene Simmons himself as reported by your friendly neighborhood KISS radio show, KISSIN' TIME --
Gene is preparing to leave for Japan, but confirmed that there will be a "Lost Cities" tour next summer. Good news for those who missed the first round to be sure, but the better news for those of us in the "Major" cities is that KISS will return to the big cities with a new setlist, and stage effects, one of which might involve a helicopter if the effect can be worked out properly. No word on what songs would be included in the "new" set list.
KISSNATION will be reissued my Marvel at the end of Janurary or early February with 50 MORE PAGES than the original. Apparantly, Marvel cut out a bunch of stuff to make it a smaller issue and get it on the shelves, but Gene wants the new version to be closer to his orginal idea. Also, the plan is still to have KISSNATION come out a couple of times a year and to that end, future issues will come from Todd McFarlane instead of Marvel. There is even talk of KISS meets Spawn!
He confirmed that the toys will be out thorough McFarlane Toys.
Those are the facts as we know them from Gene himself. KISSIN' TIME co-host Bill Quarles ran into him at a local LA eatery picking up a take out order for his family and spoke to Gene about a number of things at length. These are the highlight fo new (or confirmed) info from that conversation.
BTW, Gene reiterated that perhaps he will come and be a guest on KISSIN' TIME someday, so if any of you ever speak to him, tell him you think it would be great for him to come on the fans show and give us at KT a little help!

  • KISS Action Figure News
    From: GodoThndr
Besides KISS collecting, I am also an avid collector of action figures. I currently am on a mailing list of collectors here in Michigan about that hobby. Last night, a few of us on the list got invited to the headquarters of McFarlane Toys (the makers of the SPAWN action figures), which is located here in Michigan, about 40 minutes from my house. The purpose of the meeting was to act as a focus group, to let McFarlane Toys know what we collectors are looking for, what annoys us about the hobby, etc. We also got to see previews of the upcoming SPAWN movie and toys and....the KISS toys.

I was hoping to see prototypes of the figures and the packaging, but no such luck. They will be officialy revealed next month at the Annual Toy Fair, and in stores some time in April. I did get to see a black and white photo of them though, and they are KILLER!!! If anyone is familiar with McFarlane Toys and SPAWN, they know how detailed their figures are. The KISS figures are more or less based on the Love Gun/current costumes. Peteršs and Pauls are pretty much accurate, Acešs is close but it has some tube like things coming off of his back. The Gene figure seems the most far out. The costume kind of looks like the one hešs wearing in the KISSNATION comic book, with spikes sticking out all over it. And of course, his famous toungue is sticking out. All of the figures have real hair. The sculpting is pretty good and life-like, yet a little exaggerated to make them appear more heroic and comic-book like. Peter appears to be the most muscular of the four (LOL!). Ace is the skinniest. They will be coming with instruments that change into weapons (Genešs will be the famous "Axe" bass). Peteršs drum sticks will shoot something. It was also mentioned that they may be coming with removable armor, to make the costumes more heroic, etc. One cool thing is that the figures will each come with stands that can be put together to form the KISS logo. Gene comes with the "K," Paul has the "I" and Ace and Peter each come with an "S." The figures will be sold at all of the typical stores (Toys "R" Us, Kay-Bee, Target, etc) as well as at music/record stores.

They said this line will continue on idefinately. Some of the other guys there were KISS fans, but myself and one other appeared to be the most hard-core of the lot. We stressed to them that this line will be huge because it appeals to action figure collectors, comic collectors and KISS collectors. I told them that what KISS fans really want it accurate figures based on all of their original costumes, makeup variations, etc. We told them we want the "Destroyer" costumes, the "Elder" costumes, "Dynasty," etc. Even street suits that look like the cover of "Dressed To Kill" was suggested. I hope they listen to our suggestions, because this is every KISS fanšs dream. I am going to try to get email addresses for McFarlane Toys so we can bombard them with suggestions for these figures.

On funny story was told to me by Todd McFarlane's cousin (who is involved in the marketing of the company). It seems that they met with KISS recently to go over the toys. Peter really wanted his figure to have a cat-tail. Basically, he was really insistent on it and wouldn't shut up about it, even when they were discussing other things. Finally, Gene had to tell him to cool it, but it worked. Peter's figure will have a removable cat-tail with spikes on the end of it.

KISS was mentioned on Rosie O'Donnell today. She was interviewing Matt Dillon, and she asked him what he and Cameron Diaz did on New Years Eve. He said they watched KISS on Dick Clark's New Years Rockin' Eve. She asked him if he liked KISS when he was younger, and he said yes, and that they were good on NYRE, but Gene's tounge was a bit much. He compared it to an old man flashing, and Rosie said something about Gene being like 83 years old.

Last night on MTV's Idiot Savants the entire final catagory was devoted to KISS. You had to get 10 questions right to win a trip to Miami. The contestant picked the category because he said that is what he is an expert in, and guess what he won the trip! The questions were all very easy, looks like a lot of us would've been going to Miami if we were on the show.....

  • KISS news bit
    From: Jason Satterfield
From the lincoln star journal, lincoln, nebraska, dated 10/27/96
    Bulb kisses Kiss fan's head
It isn't every day you outdo Kiss' Gene Simmons at spitting blood. Ken Smith of Crete managed it Friday night. A light bulb falling from the ceiling broke his nose, producing more blood than Simmons spat as part of the band's wild stage act at Omaha's Civic Auditorium. Smith, 30, plans to file a lawsuit and declined to say whether the bulb fell as part of the band's antics. The band, a 1970s arena rock spectacle, is known for it's outrageous makeup, pyrotechnics and spitting blood. It reunited recently. Smith had never seen a Kiss show with all the band's original members, and, despite the injury he suffered at the end, he said it was a great performance. "The lighting was great, until a guy gets a closer look at it," he said. "I'll never forget it."

  • KISS Rumor Mill 1
    From: jimmy kesterson
Rumor is, the new KISS studio Album will be relase as a double cd set. This is for a logical reason, it will give each member of the band about 5 songs; thus, keeping everyone in the band happy and satisfied. Also, if this rumor holds true, KISS may do this for each and every CD they release from here on in. It does make good reason for KISS to do this. I think they should have done this from the beginnin, since each member of the band sings as well as writes. By the way, I got this rumor from the same place as I got the rumor about KISS not releasing the Carnival of Souls- CD.

  • KISS Rumor Mill 2
    From: KISSKS@aol.com
Some of my sources have told me the following, take them for what they are worth.
    1. the toys are coming back in a big way, not only the dolls but figures, frisbees, small figurins (including eric carr!!!), another board game and more.
    2. gene sent eric singer and bruce a 70 page document telling them what they can and cant associate with kiss from this point on. Eric is bummed, bruce is tight lipped.
    3. for the upcoming tour, paul and gene are in 1st class, ace and peter in coach (personally i doubt this one but that is what i am told)
    4. remember how KISSTORY took forever to get to us when it first came out. well it seemed that here is what happened. it costs the boys about 30 bucks to make each book, gene took the inital orders, which was over 20 million, and banked it and used the interest to pay for the book. eric singer wanted and told gene to keep the price at 100 bucks even but gene said nope 150 will work.
    5. gene was seriously considering doing kisstory in embossed gold, but manangement said not yet.
again, take them for what they are worth, they are not my opinions but they were told to me from a good source.

From: KISSrules1 (Hottest Band in the World...KISS)
"For all of you who weren't there....Bruce Kulick came into the KISS Army Online chat room and spoke with the fans for about 10-15 minutes. Among the people who were freaking out and making a real a** of themselves in front of Bruce, people got in some qustions. I asked about his new project with John Corabi. He said they just recorded another song and it is real awesome. It was my take on his tone whenever he was asked about anything KISS related that there is still a little bit of bitterness there. I could be totally wrong (not knowing Bruce personally) but that is what I took from the discussion. People started doing the "who is better ace or bruce" right there in front of him. He asked: "can we not do the ace vs. bruce crap?" I thought that it should have been common sense to not do it in front of him, but..there I go assuming again. Well, that is all I have to say right now. Hopefully he will join again. Oh yeah...he said he is adding a "Unholy" tab to his web site. I still don't know what they are...but I don't play guitar either. "

What was interesting, is when I was watching the news report on TV, there were two individuals with Kiss makeup on, Paul and Peter. They seemed to be enjoying themselves. I wonder if the real Peter and Paul would 'take a dip' on such a cold day?

    From: wiseguy
Here are a few things about the Worcester show I thought I'd pass along. I have a few contacts with the Centrum Centre from whom I got some information about the band/show. I have no confirmation of anything with the band or its management.

    1. Most if not all of the stage show was still in Europe and probably won't be on this mini-leg of the tour. This was visible at the show by the lack of the inflated dolls behind the stage. It doesn't look much different, though I think there was a bit less pyro than I remember from shows last July in Boston.

    2. When the band went to their catered preshow meal next to their dressing rooms, Paul took a look at what was offered and said something to the effect of "What the hell is THIS?" He then walked over to the banquet area where the crew was eating, saw what they had, walked back and got the rest of the band and they all ate with the crew.

    3. I caught a quick look at the band's meals rider. What does the band drink when they're onstage? Paul and Peter have Pepsi, Ace prefers Squirt and Dr. Pepper. Gene? Diet Coke.

    4. The opening band, the 4th Floor, apparently got the gig because their manager is a very old friend of Paul's.

About the setlist, they have added "Come on and Love Me" as the second tune. Also added was "I Stole Your Love" and missing was "Rock Bottom". A funny moment happened when between songs later in the set Paul announced "We have a new light man...Brian, turn down the fucking lights!!!" They went down REAL FAST... All in all, they sang and played great. They also looked lean, mean, and rested.

  • Dick Clark's Fabrication
    From: Thomas Lowe
Well, Happy New Year to all! Went to the Meadowlands (now known as Continental Arena) tonight to see our boys bring in the new year. The show was pretty standard except for Dick Clark chiming in on the big screen behind the drums to say "hi" and wish us a "Happy New Year". Paul got the fans "extra" fired up for the television spot before the appearance. Paul did say that the song after "New York Groove" was gonna be live for the show but turned out to be a standard "100,000 Years". I guess there was a possibility of the band performing live if the TV show and the band's schedule were on the same page but it didn't happen. I just checked the tape when I got home and the short segment right before the New Year WAS live. Unfortunately the "Rock and Roll All Nite" footage wasn't although Dick wants everyone to believe it was by putting the "Live from Meadowlands" on the screen. The giveaway was during the chorus when Peter yells something about "Atlanta". Anyhow, the show was good, with Paul really being in top form. The setlist only contained "C'mon and Love Me" as the only non-standard song while the rest of the setlist was mildly rearranged with changes such as "Watchin' You" leading right into "Shock Me" with no Paul intro and "Let Me Go, Rock 'n Roll" as the third song of the night. Again, Happy '97 to all!

  • More Meadowlands Notes
    From: Thomas Lowe
Another thing I wanted to mention is that they showed about a twenty minute to a half hour documentary on the band called "The Second Coming" which first discussed the reunion, then the band's history, skipping the non-makeup years totally (what a crime!), and back to the reunion once again. It was kinda cool, but the fans started to get antsy. They dropped the lights and the curtain and then put the film on. I think people expected the band to come on after the lights went off. I heard a few people start to complain after awhile. I think they should have just had the film as the opening band because anything would have been better than 4th Floor!

Finally, we all are fimiliar with the fact that the band produces concert T's that celebrate the night (nights) of the performance in the city they are in. They did make some for the New Years Eve show BUT were VERY hard to get. Apparently there were only approximately 500 made. I could not get my hands on one as they were sold out even before the opening band played their first (and painful) note. Other cool, new shirts were available but the "Meltdown at the Meadowlands" ones were sold out quick. The front was a live picture of the band (new stage and all!) with the back having the back cover picture on You Wanted The Best, You Got The Best. Very cool shirt.

  • KISS Dolls News
From: A guy who wishes to remain anonymous
A friend of mine was backstage at the Nassua show and saw the new Kiss Dolls. The guy who makes the Spawn Dolls created the new Kiss Dolls. My friend said that they were as large as the 77 doll and a cross between the 77 and the 79 costumes. Ace's guitar was a rocket launcher, Genes axe was some sort of weapon, Paul had some sort of star weapons. Kiss took photos with the dolls and then went on stage. He heard that Kiss wants them much smaller, about 6 inches. He said that Peter looked disinterested in the whole thing.

  • Gathering
    From: John Reece
The pre-show gathering at the Stadium sports cafe was a complete success!!!! 50 KISS fans from all over the east coast showed up to eat, drink and make new friends. And I am sure they are glad they did, remember that I told you that the service at the arena was inferior?? Well, last night it was simply horrible. They were grossly understaffed, and guess what?? No beer. I highly advise KISS fans in all parts of the country to organize these little get togethers. It keeps us all together and coming together.
