Leads Cold In Shelton Missing Mother Case
[By Joanne M. Pelton of the New Haven Register]
It's been almost a month since Annemarie Cusano disappeared from her Park Street home. Police would not speculate Friday on whether Cusano, a 43-year-old mother of twin daughters, is alive, but said they still are following leads, which are turning colder by the day. Cusano left her home Jan. 2.

KISS Sighting
From: Don Carr
On Jay Leno Friday night Jay was doing a skit about products. He says how terrible it is when you make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that after you spread the peanut butter on, you still have peanut butter on the knife, then dipping it into the jelly making quit a mess in the jelly. So Jay pulls a cloth off a prop on the table -- here we have the "Gene Simmons Knife Cleaner" it was a full head, and shoulder version of Gene, complete with makeup. Jay says "Just hold the knife like this". Placing it infront of the open mouth. "And watch". He presses a button on the head and Gene's tongue shoots out!! Jay wipes the knife on the tongue. Cleaning it off the the tongue shoots back in. It was hilarious!!.

    KISS Pinball Machine?
    From: WOOTONJ3017@uni.edu
Had something I thought might be newsworthy. I recently purchased a '78 Bally Kiss pinball machine from Herb Silvers at Fabulous Fantasies in Sherman Oaks, CA. His company works in refinishing such items. According to him there will be no new Kiss pinball machine, nor will there be a rerelease of the original. He stated that he had attempted negotiations with Gene to have the actual inlay board reissued. He continued that Gene and Paul wanted 30% and then there would be Bally's royalties. So thus this will not be a profitable reissue and is also a dead issue. Of course, there may be other negotiations for a new game that he is unaware of, I hope.

    KISS Mention In Playboy
    From: Rick Notar

"Jungle" & "Master & Slave" On The Charts
    From: Chris
Here's the latest from the January 16th R&R Charts:
Jungle: Active Rock Top 50: #44 Rock Top 50: #36
A station in Detroit (not sure which one) added Jungle during this reporting period. I'm not sure if it was the station that played it all the time that maybe dropped it but added it again or if it was a totally different station. Either way, it's kind of strange to have a station add this on its downward slide.

"Master & Slave"- Active Rock Chart:
203 plays, 18 stations, 3 adds for the week. Master was in the Top 10 for most increase in plays over the prior week (+141). It is close to cracking the Active Rock Top 50 but will need to pick up some momentum. It hasn't done anything on the Rock Chart, which indicates it will not be the hit Jungle was.

KISS Begins Work on "Psycho Circus"
From: USA Today via Charlie Zost
NEW YORK - Fresh off a reunion tour, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss have started work on a new Kiss record, Psycho Circus, set for release this summer. "It's going to be very much a classic album," Stanley said in Entertainment Weekly. "'Destroyer' comes to mind immediately. That's what I want this album to be. "That was 22 years ago, and nobody complains about hearing Detroit Rock City or God of Thunder now." The face-painting, flame-throwing, platform shoe-wearing members of Kiss had a successful comeback tour in 1996-97 after last performing together in 1983. It's been even three years longer since their last album, but Stanley said they can recapture the metal magic. "We are Kiss, and we're back," he said. "Join us ... or go down."

Police Pursue Leads In Search For Missing Shelton Mother
Story By: Marianne V. Stochmal [New Haven Register]
SHELTON - Police investigations continued Monday in the disappearance of a 43-year-old city woman, and authorities hope for information from witnesses who have not come forward. Detective Sgt. John Youd said investigators have been following leads and checking reported sightings of Annemarie Cusano of Park Street, last seen Jan. 2. "We've had sightings of her, but they've all been unfounded," Youd said. Police also continue to look for ex-convict Gregory McArthur, 37, of Hartford, possibly the last person to see Cusano. Youd said police want to question him. Police are pursuing the case as a suspicious missing person incident.
Cusano left home shortly after 11 p.m. Jan. 2, allegedly answering an escort service call at a rooming house in Hartford, according to police. When Cusano failed to pick up her twin 15-year-old daughters the next day, family members reported her missing. Shelton police are coordinating their efforts with Hartford police after Cusano's car turned up on Pliny Street in Hartford. Last week, both police agencies conducted a massive search with dogs around Keney Park and Golf Course in Hartford.
Shelton police are asking anyone with information to call 924-1544, or Hartford police at 860-527-6300, ext. 5232.

KISS In The Studio On Sunday (Jan 18)!
    From: The KISS Asylum
I talked with a guy at Polygram today who talked with Doc McGhee. What I was told was that "KISS will start recording on Sunday in Canada and that they (KISS & Doc) want the album to be out the first week of June!"

Original Kiss Line-Up Heading To Studio, Eyes Fall Tour
    From: MTV News
The Kiss Army is about to march once again.
Our colleagues at the MTV radio Network report that the band's original members, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Peter Criss, and Ace Frehley, are set to enter a recording studio next week to begin recording their first studio album together since 1980's "Unmasked."

As we first reported last month (see "Kiss Confirms Studio Plans; Frehley, Kulick Keep Busy" in the MTV News Gallery), the band had planned to convene in Los Angeles early this year for a round of rehearsals before deciding to enter the studio. Apparently the rehearsals went well, as the band is ready to enter the recording studio.

Also, as our previous report noted, Bruce Fairburn is on board to produce the album, which has already been titled "Psycho Circus."

It was rumored that the band would kick off its tour in support of the album with a July 4 blow-out, but a spokesperson for the band told MTV Radio that the group won't be hitting the road until August or September.

If you can't wait that long, you'll be happy to know that Ace Frehley's new album, "Loaded Deck," will arrive in stores on Tuesday. The collection boasts a number of rarities and live tracks as well as two previously unreleased songs.

    Gerri Miller Speaks
    From: The KISS Asylum
I talked with Gerri Miller briefly and here are a couple of things we talked about.
When asked when KISS will get into the studio she said "soon, they're in preproduction." She also said that "if it goes according to schedule" the new studio album will be out in July.
I also asked to see if we can expect anything from KISS in the spring of '98 and she said "don't think anything will be out before the record, but a home video and second book--the KISS Toys and Games Collectors' Bible--are in the works."

Police Use Dogs In Search For Missing Mother
    From: Tuck Watts
Story By Joanne M. Pelton with John Mongillo, Jr. [New Haven Register]
[Tuck Note: Rather than reprint the complete article, I thought I'd just pass along the new information that is covered]
The mystery surrounding the disappearance of a Shelton mother continued Wednesday as police used dogs to search a Hartford park for clues to her whereabouts.
Police dogs and cadaver-sniffing dogs from Shelton and Hartford scoured Keney Golf Course and Park off Tower Avenue in Hartford most of the day. The city park has an 18-hole golf course and expansive wooded area. The search didn't turn up anything about the disappearance of Annemarie Cusano, 43, who was reported missing from her Park Street Home January 3.

    Message From Loretta Carravello
    From: Loretta
The Carr family would like to thank all of the talented and caring musicians and Kiss fans, who have helped to create and promote the KAOL Tribute album in Eric's memory.
The money being raised will be donated to help fight the battle against cancer, so that others may be helped in the years to come. There already has been a large donation made and hopefully more will be raised in the near future.
This CD is full of love, caring and a lot of great KISS music. Special thanks to Kathy LaBonte for her desire to see this project thru from beginning to end, and to the MusiCare Online Foundation. You have all been an inspiration and Eric would be proud. Thank you all. Sincerely, Eric Carr family

Police Try To Fit New Piece To Shelton Puzzle
    From: Tuck Watts
Story By: Joanne M. Pelton and John Mongillo, Jr. [New Haven Register]
Police believe blood on torn men's clothing found inside the Hartford apartment where a missing Shelton mother was last seen 12 days ago came from the ex-con who lived there, sources said Tuesday. For the last week police have been looking for 37-year-old Gregory McArthur, a resident of the apartment, whose record includes sexual assaults and robberies.
Sources said the clothing, found in an apartment at 550 Prospect Ave., was ripped, as if to indicate some type of violent strugle had taken place. Police believe McArthur may have needed medical attention, sources said.

"Jungle" & "Master and Slave" On The Charts
    From: Chris
As of the January 9th issue of the R&R Charts, "Jungle" falls to #31 on the Active Rock Top 50 and #36 on the Rock Top 50. It also stands at #32 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Top 40 as of their January 10th issue. It has spent 14 weeks on the R&R Charts and 13 on Billboard, so it's had a really good run.

As for "Master", although it did not crack the R&R Active Rock Top 50, it was in the Top 10 for stations added (13) during its first week. I saw the list of these 13 stations, and they were all in secondary markets with 12 of them being in Midwestern or Central states. No adds on the East Coast among R&R reporting stations, but it's very early.

    KISS Toys Launch Reunion Tour
From: ToyFare Magazine [March '98 Issue] via GodoThndr@aol.com
Play all night and party every day. Some of the most popular toys of the last year are gearing up for their second tour - literally. A new series of McFarlane Toys' action figures based on the rock band KISS will hit shelves in the second quarter of 1998. And this time, the toys feature a concept near and dear to the McFarlane folk: their KISS: The Psycho Circus comic book.
"The first KISS toys were a massive success," said Terry Fitzgerald, Todd McFarlane Productions president of entertainment. "Sales were five times our initial projections. And the band loved them, too." In fact, the band loved them so much that the KISS: The Psycho Circus toy line turns over all design work directly to TMP. Action figure two-packs pair each band member - in new TMPdesigned costumes based on the traditional KISS glam rock costumes - with, as Fitzgerald puts it, "their comic book counterpart." In the Psycho Circus series, each KISS member has a double in a traveling circus. KISS bassist Gene Simmons, for example, is represented as a circus ringmaster. The Psycho Circus toys will couple a new KISS Gene with a ringmaster Gene, and so on with the rest of the band, pairing Paul Stanley, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley with their Circus doubles. And it hardly stops there.
The toys also serve as a concert souvenir, as McFarlane's new costume designs will be worn by the real-life band members on their 1998 tour dubbed - you guessed it - "The Psycho Circus." "We were blown away when KISS and their management asked us to do design work that would actually be incorporated into the tour," Fitzgerald said. "It's amamzing in terms of prestige and it's great because the new toys will have the band's real as-seen-on-stage look. We're amazed that the 'Psycho Circus' concept that KISS came up with has become a comic, toy line and now their next tour."
Look for the four KISS: The Psycho Circus action-figure packs to carry an $8-$10 price tag, depending on retailer. -- Jim McLauchlin

Search For Mother Turns To EX-Convict
From: Joanne M. Pelton [New Haven Register] via Tuck Watts
SHELTON - Police are looking for a former convict who may have had something to do with the disappearance of a city woman a week ago. Detectives have turned their search for 43-year-old Annemarie Cusano to that of a sex offender who lived in the Hartford rooming house Cusano allegedly visited on January 2. Police still have no clue where Cusano may be. Police on Saturday issued a photograph and description of Gregory McArthur, 37, whose last known address was a rooming house at 550 Prospect Ave., Hartford. Anyone who has seen McArthur is asked to contact police.

It's a 96 page hard cover book that's supposed to have color photographs, discographies, and a bunch of other neat stuff. It didn't say exactly when it would be released though.

    "Master & Slave" Rocks Columbia
From: Jim Hunter, Program Director of KCMQ
This is Jim Hunter from Solid Rock 96-7 KCMQ in Columbia, Missouri and I thought I'd drop you a quick line and say that we've just added "Master & Slave" to our playlist and as expected, Central Missouri is rockin' hard to this one!! The song recently spent an entire week as champ on our "Rock It or Drop It" segment, beating such artists as the Foo Fighters and Days of the New. We retired M&S so we could add it to our regular rotation and it's already generating a LOT of requests!!! It's an awesome follow up to "Jungle" and being a major KISS fan, I'm glad to be putting some REAL rock on the radio...AGAIN!!!!
Call your local radio station and tell them to add M&S right now!!!! They'll be glad they did...just like we are here in Central Missouri at the only station that REALLY rocks, Solid Rock 96-7 KCMQ!!!!

    Paul Stanley Update
From: Joe D. / KISS Hell Online
Paul very recently took some time to fill out a short Q&A for KISS HELL. There was 6 questions and Paul addressed them as follows: On the KISS Collectibles book being rumour or true: "True." About Paul changing guitars on next tour: "New Guitar Is Coming Out Soon!" On how the 'Rhinestone Iceman' was created: "During the 70's I Rhinstoned My Flying V-so It Was A Natural Step." On Paul's criteria for a guitar: "It Has To Feel Like Part Of Me." On any hints for 1998 Paul just wrote "Album/Tour-Awesome." The last question was on his thoughts of CARNIVAL OF SOULS & the musical departure(on COS): "Very Proud Of It. Bruce And Eric Were Incredible. We Record How We Feel At The Time." We also asked Paul for a signed message & as he always comes up with the coolest messages-he did again: "Stay Tuned-You Wanted The Best-You're Gonna Get It! PAUL STANLEY." (KISS HELL eXclusive '98)

Cusano's car was discovered right around the corner and was towed to the police garage where investigators combed it for clues. KISS Remasters Hit The Record Clubs
    From: MzCharisma of KISS/UNION Asylum
The latest issues of both the CDHQ & Columbia House music clubs (they are after all virtually one in the same!) contain a write up/advertisement for the KISS remasters. It is presented rather nicely actually, taking up about 1/3 of an entire page and sporting the title "Know Your KISStory" above a Reunion photo, with a very large KISS logo beneath the photo.
A 3 paragraph write up is included in the layout which briefly touches on things like: when the group was formed, the merchandising, KISS's 25 years in the music business and some of the people they've influenced, the Reunion, and the remasters. Eight of the remasters are listed as available, as well as "Greatest KISS." Finally, even though they are only music club magazines, I was still very surprised to see this much attention given to the guys.

    Ace Writing With Sebastian Bach?
From: Julian / KISS FAQ II
[KA Note: The following is an unconfirmed statement from S.B.]
Dream come true # 8,648: I spent the last 2 days writing songs with the most talented guitarist in history, Mr. ACE FREHLEY of KISS. Ace invited Richie Scarlet, myself & ANTON FIG to come up for a couple of days & work on brand new songs.
ANTON FIG has been one of my favorite drummers on the planet ever since I heard RIP IT OUT on the first ACE solo album, & his grooves these last 2 days knocked me on my a$$. He is so nice as a person that any intimidation I may have felt was immediately put to rest. I was extremely honored to write music with these consumate professionals. ACE has TONS of new songs & I've never seen him in such a creative state of mind! Our songwriting styles clicked like a lockblade knife & we came up with tons of ideas that ACE is tightening up as we speak.
Pinch me I'm dreaming right? You all know that ACE has always been my favorite guitarist, songwriter & live performer, & he's probably the funniest alien that I've ever hung with. To jam with these guys was one of the highlights of my life & we're meeting up later this week to do it all again! Look for pics of the sessions on sweb soon! Hot damn.

Check out Metal Edge to get the details from this article! =)

There is a coupon in the issue you have to send to Metal Edge before March 1st 1998. Along with this contest there is a half page article on UNION as well. Check it out!
Mayhem Records also has a very cool advertisement on the last inside page of the magazine that prominantly features UNION as well as Mayhem artist, DIO ! It is very cool! The advertisment says "Avaliable February 24 1998, UNION - featuting the songs: "Old Man Wise","October Morning Wind","Around Again", "and Heavy D."
We also want to mention that The UNION Asylum is now listed in the Metal Edge Email section of the magainze for UNION. We want to thank Gerri for including us! =)

We just got the new KISS Kollector fanzine (no. 23) and I have to say that it is Awesome! I mean this is one of the best fanzine issues I have seen. It has a glorious color cover, back cover AND color centerfold! The whole issue is printed on glossy heavy stock paper. Along with the great KISS pictures it is filled with News and info. Other cool features is a review on KISS booklegs, a huge section on Eric Carr, an aritcle on Paul Stanley, some unreleased KISS song lyrics and more! Some of these Articles and past aritcles from KISS Kollector can exclusively be seen here at kissasylum.com at KISS Kollector's Official Online web site at http://kissasylum.com/kisskollector . KISS Trade & Collectable Fair
    From: Wayne Kepler
On February 8, 1998 (from noon to 7pm) there will be a KISS (& ROCK) Trade and Collectable Fair held at the Parramatta Leagues Club, Parramatta, NSW, Australia. It will be held in the hall, so it is for all ages. There is access for the physically challenged. An admission fee applies, and a number of local bands will be playing KISS covers. Aside from the official merchandise and memorabilia (I'm putting a large number of items on the table from 17 years of collecting), there will be stalls from interstate dealers, and local related stores.

    Something Worth Checking Out
    From: Tuck Watts
Hi Guys: The address is at the bottom...take one minute and send e-mail... Send this out to your friends...only takes 1 minute to voice your opinion...dont wait until its too late..
I am writing you this to inform you of a very important matter currently under review by the FCC. Your local telephone company has filed a proposal with the FCC to impose per minute charges for your internet service. They contend that your usage has or will hinder the operation of the telephone network. It is my belief that internet usage will diminish if users were required to pay additional per minute charges. The FCC has created an email box for your comments, responses must be received by February 13, 1998. Send your comments to isp@fcc.gov and tell them what you think. Every phone company is in on this one, and they are trying to sneak it in just under the wire for litiagation. Let everyone you know hear this one. Get the e-mail address to everyone you can think of.
