KISS Interview Feature In Goldmine
From: KISS ASYLUM
Just a reminder that the Goldmine issue with the KISS feature interviews is out on news stands now. Ken Sharp interviews each member of KISS, asking his usual great array of questions. In a KISS ASYLUM March Newsbit Ken said, "I interviewed the band in person before the San Diego show. While the interview does not focus on obscure tracks, et al. like some of my previous interviews, I still believe that it turned out well, with everything from Gene speaking about his father and discussing who was KISS' worst opening act to Paul talking about the supposed KISS/Aerosmith rivalry in the 70's and the Raspberries songs he paid homage to on his solo track 'Wouldn't You Like To Know Me.' Goldmine will also hold a a giveaway for a signed KISS Farewell Tour program." It's all in there, and the issue is available now so be sure to check it out!

KISS Says Goodbye To Fans In Truly Explosive Fashion
From: Post-Gazette.com via Brian Cory
I saw Gene Simmons breathing fire, drooling blood and flying overhead in bat wings for what promises to be the last time as Kiss, in all its cartoon glory, said goodbye to makeup in a show last night at the Post-Gazette Pavilion that redefined the notion of going out with a bang. The reunited members of the classic early lineup even came on with a bang, descending on a platform as explosions kept the beat with Peter Criss to the opening bars of the great "Detroit Rock City."

Simmons Prepares To Kiss His Fans Goodbye At Show
From: TicketLive.com via Brian Cory
There's nothing more suspicious than a rock band announcing a farewell tour. It's a sure-fire moneymaker, playing to the hearts of fans who want one last evening with their beloved heroes. What usually happens is, a few years later, there's a change of heart or a need to replenish the bank account. So bassist Gene Simmons understands why fans might be a bit skeptical that the current Kiss tour - stopping in Pittsburgh on Friday - is indeed the band's swan song. "It really is," he says. "It's absolutely the last tour, simply because after 80 million albums, three decades ... the tours, the toys, the games, the Kiss movies and almost anything else you can imagine, there's just nothing else left to do."

Glam Band Says Goodbye To Detroit Rock City
From: Detnews.com via Brian Cory
Say it ain't so! After 27 years together and 75 million (yes, you read that correctly) albums sold, KISS, the band that launched a thousand Halloween costumes, is calling it quits . When Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss take the stage at the Palace of Auburn Hills next Wednesday and Thursday -- with Skid Row and longtime friend and Detroiter Ted Nugent -- it will be to say goodbye to the place they dubbed Detroit Rock City back in 1976. "Everything's got to end at a certain time," says iconic, fire-breathing bassist Simmons, 50. "And the only choice you have is how to end it. I look at Michael Jordan, who is at the top of his game and decides to hang up his shoes because everything, from there, could potentially go downhill. I don¹t want to be playing the House of Blues in 20 years to 100 people."

Stand By For The KISS Off
From: Detroit Free Press via Brian Cory
This is it, the end, finito. In whatever words you want to put it, it's over. KISS bass player Gene Simmons is "as serious as a deadly heart attack" that the hard rock band, known for its excessive face makeup, outlandish leather and metal costumes and fiery stage shows, is calling it quits for good. For probably the last time, the band -- which also includes Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss -- will return to rock one of its favorite towns with two shows tonight and Thursday at the Palace. "This is really the end," says Simmons. "We want to quit while we're ahead."

KISS Shows Why Its Time To Go
From: Cincinnati Post via Brian Cory
'You wanted the best and you got the best. The hottest band in the land - Kiss.'' It was the familiar opening to a Kiss concert at Riverbend Monday night as the venue opened its 2000 season with flashpots, fireworks, ''blood'' vomiting and your basic fire-spitting. Kiss played a three-quarters full venue for its farewell tour. The band entered in dramatic fashion, lowered from the ceiling, spewing fire, playing ''Detroit Rock City'' with videos showing just what the song was about - smashing a car to pieces.

Bruce Kulick Book & Solo Album/UNION 2nd Single
From:UnionAsylum.com & Kulick.net
As was initially mentioned at the NY/NJ KISS Expo Bruce is beginning to put together a book which will chronicle his entire career. The book will be a bio of Bruce's life and work throughout the entire course of his career, including special chapters devoted to his relationship with Eric Carr and what life on the road with KISS - and all the women! - is really like! Of course there will also be a lot of never before seen photos from Bruce's personal collection included too. The book's working title is "Honorable Discharge" and Bruce will be working on it as time permits in the coming months. Bruce is also beginning to lay down some material for his planned solo album. Curt Cuomo will be helping out with the production of the as yet untitled album, and Bruce plans to handle the vocals on the non-instrumental tracks himself. It's still early in the process for both the album and the book, so keep checking Kulick.net for all the latest regarding these exciting projects.

Gene Faxes Update To KISS Kollector
From: Joop / KISS Kollector Online
The other day Gene faxed back a questionnaire to KISS Kollector Fanclub which was sent to him last February along with that month's issue of KISS Kollector magazine. Obviously that was before the news about Gene's autobiography was announced... For years I have been bugging Gene about a possible autobiography, and he always stated that the time was not right or just simply said "no". In the recent questionnaire I again asked him about his autobiography. As we all know right now, Gene's autobiography is due out in two years. So this time around Gene answered: "The deal is done with Crown Books." As for the Farewell Tour, I wondered if it was a tough decision at all and Gene states: "Better to go out on top." And when asked if there's going to be another album after Alive IV since there might be a contractual obligation, the Demon says: "Wait and see." I guess that's indeed all we can do. Meanwhile check out the scan of the questionnaire for the other questions Gene answered.

The producer of this compilation is none other than Jack Sawyers, producer of "Tale of the Fox" and man behind the scenes of many KISS videos, and included in the latest edition of Spolight is a comprehensive interview with the Jackmeister himself.

Alternate Album Focus: Destroyer
From: Rich Hund
The insatiable appetite of KISS fans for news on their favorite group has never been fed as much as it has been in the last few years. The Alternate Album Focus rips off this veil and exposes KISS for who they really were and are. Destroyer: "While accumulating information for 'Destroyer,' I was faxed a never-published 1976 article from Cool Producers (formerly Groovy Producers) magazine from an anonymous source. The magazine interviewed Bob Ezrin extensively about the album just before its release.... Incidentally, the note on the fax states that the article wasn't published because 'apparently G(ene) and P(aul) got wind of Ezrin's interview. He was used to just giving honest interviews and I guess didn't have the whole maintain the mystery routine down pat." Here is the article, presented in its entirety. Greatest Spectacle In Rock Goes Out In Style
From: Starnews.com via Brian Cory
Kiss bid farewell to Indianapolis Saturday night, but there was no need for tears. The rock band's merchandise will sell forever. Since 1973, image and attitude have outranked music in the Kiss Army. This fact has irritated rock critics for decades, but it's rarely slowed album sales or box-office receipts. More than 23,000 fans saluted the band at Deer Creek Music Center, where chilly conditions didn't stop vocalist Paul Stanley from ditching his shirt three songs into the two-hour performance. Stanley, noting the band's many triumphs over external naysaying, took particular pride in hits recorded during Kiss' midcareer, non-makeup era.

Campy Goodbye Sealed With A Kiss
From: JSonline.com via Brian Cory
They came, they saw, they KISSed. And everybody was happy. In a two and a half hour show of non-stop energy, the four guys in face paint who are collectively known as Kiss delivered a big sloppy wet one to a sold-out Marcus Amphitheater crowd of about 18,000. The Friday night show was part of the band's "Farewell Tour," as in adios, bye, that's all folks, we really mean it. Whether you buy that it was the quartet's final Milwaukee date or not, band members' repeated "thank you for loving us all these years" seemed sincere. That said, evaluating Kiss by its music is like judging a pro-wrestler by his sportsmanlike conduct. The band invented cheese metal, and has never strayed far from the formula of simple, feel-good melodies and a beat so plodding that even drunk white guys in their 30s - the band's core demographic these days - can pound their fists in time to it. What makes Kiss a 27-year-old multiplatinum fan phenomenon is the band as spectacle. Sure, you could almost set your watch by the halfway point of the show when Gene Simmons drools fake blood while pounding out a bass solo. But the sight of him bathed in a glowing green light, flying above the audience (with the help of a harness) in his plate-armor-platform-dragon-boots get-up still makes for great campy theater.

KISS Concert Not Special, Just Usual Rock Spectacle
From: StarTribune.com via Brian Cory
Kiss, the band that reinvented rock as cartoonish show-biz spectacle, came to Target Center Thursday to bid farewell to the Twin Cities. Even though this was the last time (do we really believe it?) and the show was a day late (because the band's plane was grounded in Chicago on Wednesday), this one didn't seem special. That's not necessarily a criticism, it's just that this sold-out, two-hour concert seemed like just about every other Kiss arena concert. In fact, after 25 years of Kiss shows in the Twin Cities, some things about the self-described "hottest band in the land" forever hold true:

Last Tour Is Sealed With A KISS
From: Qconline.com via Craig
If it's true that this is KISS' final tour, that after this trek across the hinterlands the quartet of Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss is going to take off the makeup for the final time, at least they can be pleased they went out on top. KISS' latest jaunt has been a bombastic success. The band has been selling out arenas across the country in record time, due in large part to its reputation as a killer live act -- a reputation which was duly earned during Tuesday night's fiery two-hour-plus performance at The Mark of the Quad Cities before a sold-out crowd of roughly 11,000. It was a show that was satisfying in every way a fan could hope for -- its set list was heavy on their greatest hits; it was jam-packed with special effects; and it was alive with pulse-pounding energy.

The Goodbye KISS
From: Pjstar.com via Brian Cory
Karmen Hall-Miller used to fend off the lascivious advances of Gene Simmons. Back in the '70s, musician Craig Moore kept coming up a day late and a dollar short of opening for Kiss. Rick "Danger" Brown scored a beloved childhood souvenir, only to see it turned to junk. And what Jay Goldberg has seen, he can't talk about. With Kiss paying its (allegedly) final visit to Peoria Monday, a handful of fans reminisced with us about their first-hand brushes with "The Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World." Their Kiss-and-tell stories:

Goodbye KISS
From: Startribune.com via Brian Cory
His days of wearing cherry-red lipstick, clown-white face paint and a single black star around the right eye are numbered. Paul Stanley, the guitar-smashing romantic icon of Kiss, is packing away the 7-inch platform boots and the glitter-and rhinestone-studded leotards. So are his three cohorts -- Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss -- as rock's best-known theatrical band is taking its last bows after 28 years. The group's farewell tour began this month in Phoenix and comes to Target Center in Minneapolis on Wednesday. Amid smoke, fire and levitating stage platforms, the group hit the top in the '70s; the members splintered, stripped the makeup and carried on in the '80s; reunited and relived the glory days with fans -- the Kiss Army -- in the '90s. In the '00s, Kiss is leaving the road, but Stanley is far from wistful about the occasion. "There is nothing in my life that is bittersweet," he said from Phoenix. "It's all good, all incredible and all gratifying." While the likes of the Who, Ozzy Osbourne and Elton John have cried "retirement" only to return to the stage before your souvenir "Farewell Tour" T-shirt has worn out, Stanley is adamant that his band's current trek truly is a goodbye kiss.

Band May Be Kiss of Death For Eardrums
From: Toledoblade.com via Lorie
If you've tried to hold a conversation with someone around town during the last week, you may have noticed that they haven't paid much attention to you. If that's the case, I think maybe I can tell you why. It could be because: A. You're just really boring. B. The person you're talking to went to the KISS concert a week ago, and he or she hasn't been able to hear much of anything since then. KISS, as you may or may not know, is a famous rock band, and like most famous rock bands, its live performances are all about being bigger, flashier - and louder - than those of the next rock band. It's been this way ever since the Rolling Stones became much bigger than Herman's Hermits by simply cranking up their amps and having Mick Jagger jump around madly and wave his lips during shows. It's not every day that a band of KISS's caliber appears in Toledo, and the fact that the band is in the middle of its final farewell tour made its concert here particularly momentous.

Lose Yourself Somewhere "West of Eight"
From: KISS ASYLUM
It turns out that Tod Howarth's previous two solo releases, Silhouette and Cobalt Parlor, while both very impressive and enjoyable, were only the tip of the musical iceberg Tod had in store for us all. With his newest release, "West of Eight," Tod serves up a sonic assault of an iceberg big enough to sink the Titanic! Weighing in at slightly over an hour, the fifteen music tracks (plus a spoken "liner note" track called "Thanks," which is exactly that) assembled here represent some of the most complete, satisfying musicianship that I've had the pleasure to experience in recent memory. Tod, an extremely accomplished musician, handles all lead and backing vocals, lead and rhythm guitars, keyboards, acoustic, baritone and bass guitars. He does leave the drumming in the hands (and feet) of the very able Dave Aaron, and the lightening fingered Jamie Eden steps up to the plate for both lead and rhythm guitar work on eight of the album's tracks. Put all that together, simmer for two to three years to make sure all components are aged to perfection, serve LOUD, and you have the musical masterpiece otherwise known as "West of Eight."

Fan Feedback: "KISS Live Webcasts "
From: KISS ASYLUM
For the first two legs of the KISS Farewell Tour VH-1.com has given online fans a "jump" at getting KISS tickets first before they go on sale at ticket locations around the country. Some people seemed to do really well getting good seats for shows, while others experienced massive frustration with the presale set up. KISS ASYLUM wanted to know how the online fans felt about the ticket presale and the majority of the fans, 60% felt it was a good thing compared to 30%. The poll breakdown is as follows: Yes 59.7% - (1490 Votes); No 30.5% - (762 Votes); Not sure 9.5% - (239 Votes).

More and more bands seem to be trying to take advantage of the interactive features offered by the world wide web as another way of involving their fans worldwide. KISS is no exception, and have taken part over the past few months in "webcasts" of several KISS performances including the Pixelon.com launch party, VH1.com's coverage of the DRC Movie Premiere Party, and most recently Pepsiworld.com's broadcast from a performance of the Farewell Tour in Chicago. In KISS ASYLUM's latest Fan Feedback poll we want to know "What has your experience been in participating in these live webcasts of KISS performances?" Saturday night at Polaris Amphitheater, more than 18,000 people wanted the best, and they got the best. The hottest band in the land -- Kiss. Kiss says it will tour never again with the original band members in costume and makeup. After the show, many audience members sat stone-faced in seats watching roadies tear down the set. But for two hours these people -- most of them in their mid-30s to 50s -- also "got'' many Thank-You's and We Love You!s from these comic- book heroes come to life for "fulfilling their dreams,'' as drummer Peter Criss put it, opportunities to see live, bare pneumatic breasts shown on three video screens. And fire. Lots of fire. Pinwheels of sparks spun on Criss' drum riser and at the end of Ace Frehley's Gibson Les Paul. Columns of fire shot 20 feet high during Heaven's On Fire. Bassist Gene Simmons spewed an alcohol ball at a torch. Frehley topped that by shooting a stream of fire from his guitar at two balloons in the rafters. All in all, the people Kiss hooked in the '70s by creating cartoonish superhero alter-egos with Kabuki make-up, platform boots, glitter, anthem-rock (Rock and Roll All Nite) and one high-in-fat cheese ballad (Beth) "got'' a rock 'n' roll show that filled up an amphitheater the way big rock 'n' roll should.

KISS Songs Largely Sound The Same
From: Toledo Blade via Brian Cory
Take every gimmick, cliche, and three-chord rock song and magnify it by a thousand and that's what KISS gave the crowd of 6,600 in concert last night at the University of Toledo's John F. Savage Hall. Walls of flame, clouds of smoke, fireworks, blood, a disco ball, band members flying through the air, and 20 classic KISS tunes played at maximum volume gave the audience a thrill a minute during the band's nonstop two-hour show that's part of what it is calling its farewell tour.

The KAOL Countdown Sale
From: Kathy Labonte
KAOL is moving its base of operations later this month to a new location and to help make the move a little lighter, we're offering a huge sale on Dale Sherman's "A World Without Heroes" book and Soundtrack. The price for this package is usually $25 but for the next 14 days only you can get it for $20 and that INCLUDES the shipping. Never will the price on this be that low again so if you've been waiting for a reason to order, this is it. This is ONLY for 14 days and does NOT include International customers (sorry). The book contains a 70 minute Soundtrack CD in the back cover from the KISS Army OnLine (KAOL). Just like a motion picture soundtrack, 25 KISS songs are re-created by KAOL musicians to tell the tale musically and follow each chapter of the story. The book also comes handnumbered and includes a signed Certificate of Authenticity by Dale. Also included in the package is a customized World Without Heroes pen and bookmark set. This printing is limited and will vary from the next printing. The story combines both truth and fiction as Dale writes about the band's early days of the 70s and 80s, combining factual events with their meeting of the magical Talismans and the evil Blackwell. You'll want to read it from cover to cover the day you get it. Finally, and equally important, ALL PROFITS from this project are given to the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Eric's memory. We've raised over $5,000 so far but can do a lot more if we sell out these few hundred books left. All orders must be in by Tuesday, May 23rd, for the special $20 price. Coming in June, we'll be starting to take pre-orders for the all new "Creatures of The Net - A New Millenium" featuring brand new tracks. So grab "A World Without Heroes" now while the price is low! Order instantly at our website by credit card. www.kissarmyonline.com

14th Annual NY KISS Expo - Report
From: Bob Rodrick
I attended the 14th Annual NY Kiss Expo at the Rothman Center in Hackensack, NJ on April 30. TONS of great guests were on hand to sign autographs, take pictures and talk with the Kiss fans. Bruce Kulick was the main attraction guest and signed every single autograph and talked with every fan that came up to him. I took a roll of film and I put together a special webpage with the photos from the convention, along with a more detailed description of what was happening at the event. It was a good time.

Fire-breathing KISS Says Goodbye
From: ToledoBlade.com via Brian Cory
Could this really be the end? Will the Tuesday stop of KISS: The Farewell Tour truly be the last time that the four face-painted, fire-breathing, blood-gurgling rock and rollers will grace the stage in Toledo? "Yes," Gene Simmons said, then paused dramatically. "I wanted to wait after I said 'Yes' just to make sure that people know it really is. Because we don't need to do that to sell tickets. The first 30 shows sold out the first day on VH-1. At the present rate, this will again be the No. 1 tour." KISS has outlasted five presidents, notched more Gold Records than any group except the Beatles, sold an estimated 80 to 100 million albums, raked in the most money of any rock tour of 1996 ($43 million), and marketed its image on everything from "KISS movies to KISS condoms," Simmons boasted. "There wasn't much else to do. So if you're going to quit, it's best to quit on top," he said, citing basketball legend Michael Jordan and actress Greta Garbo as inspirations for stepping out of the spotlight while at the peak of one's profession.

Bliss with KISS: Big-act Bill of KISS, Nugent Really Works To Rock 'n' Shock
From: Michigan Live via Brian Cory
Yeah, it was a rockin' free-for-all nite. How else can you describe a sold-out show at Van Andel Arena featuring KISS and Ted Nugent? You have one band kissing everybody goodbye with a farewell tour, and one man who shoots not only bows and arrows, but shoots his mouth off. The evening's best moment, by far, came at the end of KISS' set, when singer-guitarist Paul Stanley said, "If another band comes to this town and doesn't give you a show, they don't deserve your money or your respect. They aren't doing you a favor, you're doing them a favor."

I Was A Roadie For KISS - March 29, 2000
From: Bob Rudea
On the day of the show I had the whole day off from work and told my brother that I was gonna drive to the arena early to watch the trucks unload and to see if the inflatables were gonna be used this tour. I drove down to the United Spirit Arena at about 11:30am wearing black Addidas sweatpants, a KISS T-shirt, KISS ballcap, a fanny pack, and I brought some work gloves..... just in case KISS needed an extra roadie. There were about 20 guys all dressed like me, and a few girls too. Bill was calling off names from a clipboard and when he was finished he said, "Whose name didn't I call?" I raised my hand and he asked my name and he wrote it down on the clipboard and said, "Let's start unloading those trucks." IT WAS THAT EASY!!! I couldn't believe it!!!

Farewell Tour Replays Band's Classic Antics & Its Great Songs
From: Cleveland.com via Brian Cory
Farewell concert reminds us why band will be missed . Kiss is going out with a bang - multiple bangs, actually. The last of the makeup-wearing, fire-breathing, pyromaniacal hard-rock heroes brought their farewell tour to Gund Arena last night for the first of two shows. They perform there again tonight. Singer-guitarist Paul Stanley is Broadway-bound, singer-bassist Gene Simmons has been fielding acting offers, guitar whiz Ace Frehley wants to get back to his solo career and drummer Peter Criss ... well, maybe he'll turn up someday to croon "Beth" at a dinner theater near you. They range in age from late 40s to early 50s. Last night, the foursome put on the greasepaint, squeezed into the body armor and slipped on the seven-inch heels one more time for nearly 17,003 fans. In the audience were parents with young children in tow, as well as longstanding members of the Kiss Army who enlisted back when moms and dads used to worry that Kiss was doing the devil¹s work. Ah, the good old days.

Venture Into Voodooland, You Won't Be Sorry!
From: KISS ASYLUM
Voodooland Former Ace Frehley Band member and "Into the Void" co-writer Karl Cochran has a new band, Voodooland. If you liked ESP, which also featured Karl's impressive musical talents, you'll love Voodooland. The band's self-titled EP, which reflects a heavy blues-rock influenced sound, is the 70's rock sound at its best. Along with special guests Ace Frehley (1 track only) and Eric Singer, Voodooland is comprised of Karl on guitars, bass and vocals, Bruce Terkildsen on bass and vocals, Billy Orrico and Dave Halprin on drums, and Tommy Lamb on harp. There are seven tracks on Voodooland's awesome debut, and every one rocks!

Alternate Album Focus: Alive!
From: Rich Hund
The insatiable appetite of KISS fans for news on their favorite group has never been fed as much as it has been in the last few years. Many long-term KISS fans learned the band's history slowly and in patches, first through their music and album covers, then magazine articles and rumors from classmates in school, and finally through the KISSTORY book, various biographies, and the Internet. These fans now know more than ever about the personalities, studio musicians, mindsets of members throughout the years. And yet so much mystery remains. So many stories, facts and tidbits remain shrouded in secrecy. The Alternate Album Focus rips off this veil and exposes KISS for who they really were and are.
  • Alive!: KISS fans consider this as not only the pinnacle of KISS' career but as the best live album of all time. Many facts, however, have remained covered for 25 years..... until now. Click Here To Read The Entire Alive! Album Focus Parody!

A Good-bye Kiss From The Band
    From: Cleveland.com via Brian Cory
Masters of makeup and mayhem meander down a trail of memories When future historians dissect the decade of the ¹70s, they will inevitably stumble upon its most defining poetic expression:" I want to rock and roll all night And party every day. I want to rock and roll all night And party every day. I want to rock and roll all night And party every day." They are the lyrics to "Rock and Roll All Nite," performed most memorably on the double live album "Alive" in 1975 by a band steeped in pyrotechnics, special effects, cartoon-character gimmickry, platform shoes and makeup: Kiss. Unlike many bands, who make an incredibly great first album, then put out a few stinkers, Kiss built slowly. Its first three albums were largely ignored, but the band toured extensively in 1974 and 1975, including at the Agora and Allen Theatre, where Kiss opened for the New York Dolls, another New York band that favored makeup (albeit more feminine) and platform shoes. Then they put their best shtick forward by showcasing their live act on an album.

    KISS Sell Out
    From: VH1.com
No one really knows when KISS' Farewell tour is going to end, but one thing's for sure. The band is certainly saying good-bye to most of its instruments, costumes, and props. KISS have announced an auction of the tools of their trade, due to take place over the weekend of June 24 at Los Angeles' Paramount Studios. Internet users will be able to bid on the goodies through real-time online bidding. "We don't want this stuff - the great outfits and guitars - to be mothballed," bassist Gene Simmons said in a statement. "We would rather the world have it. We've always been of the people, for the people, and by the people. We would like as many people as possible to have a piece of KISS." Paul Stanley added, "We have so much to be incredibly thankful for, and there is a tremendous sense of satisfaction and joy in being able to make all these items available to the people who took us from the streets of New York to arenas and stadiums around the world. This has been an incredible trip that wouldn't have happened without them."

You Hear Me: I Must KISS & Say Goodbye
    From: ThePittsburghchannel.com via Lisa Jackson
I am sad. Why, you ask? Are my stocks down? Is my car kaput? Has the "I Love You" virus screwed up my e-mail? No, I am heartbroken because my favorite band is on its "farewell" tour. You see, I am a KISS fan -- and damn proud of it. I can hear the snickers now: the snide remarks about the makeup, platform boots, and big hair are something I've heard since I was six and bought a copy of "KISS Alive" when I was in first grade (I saved up my money from little chores assigned by my mom).

KISS Seals Up Fabulous Farewell Show
    From: Dailymail.com via Brian Cory
On a classic episode of "Seinfeld," Jerry and George discussed the secret to success on the stage. "Showmanship," Jerry said. "Hit the high note and then walk off the stage." "Keep them wanting more," George concurred. Tuesday night at the Civic Center, four other guys from New York did just that. In what was likely its last appearance in West Virginia, KISS treated its army of fans to a two-hour-plus assault of the senses. From the opening chords of "Detroit Rock City" to the final notes of "Rock And Roll All Nite," the makeup-wearing monsters of rock poured their hearts and souls out.

    KISS Goodbye
    From: Roanoke.com via Brian Cory
That cockroach thing they used to say about Cher? They say it about KISS, too. At the end of the civilization, there will still be KISS and cockroaches. Now, there may just be cockroaches. Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, the four guys who formed the self-proclaimed greatest rock group in the world, are retiring. Golf is not in their future. Fishing, either. "Jews fishing, that's hilarious," said Simmons, who, pre-rock, was Gene Klein, an Israeli-born school teacher living in the Bronx. "We don't do that stuff. Take the hook and put it through a piece of flesh and rip it out? We don't do that. Guys named Jim and Billy Bob do that." Guys named Gene Simmons spit blood and flex their tongues and breathe fire and have sex with thousands of women. Guys named Paul Stanley wear lipstick, sing "Love Gun" and have sex with thousands of women.

Live KISS Thought Vault & NJ Expo Cool - Bruce To Do A Book
    From: Ron Albanese
Just returned to the real world after departing the surreal atmosphere of the 14th Annual NJ Kiss Expo here in NJ. Overall, the event lived up to its own time-tested standards, with dealers and attendees all having a good time of it all; The tables were filled with great stuff (I should have bought that '78 Peter single!) and the guests were cool (especially Bruce Kulick, who officially announced that he's working on a book during the interview I did with him!). I am happy to report that the Live Kiss Thought Vault was an unqualified success, far surpassing my expectations -- who would've thought that the bands' performing of "Heaven's on Fire" on the current tour would make for such debate fodder! Thanks to all who particpated and listened to the panel. Stay tuned for a report on the live Thought Vault later this week, sure to be written in total Thought Vault style!

If, down the road, KISS were to decide that they didn't want the Farewell Tour to be their last either, how do you think they'd hit the road again? KISS ASYLUM asked online fans "If KISS were to ever tour again, in what incarnation of the band do you think it would be?" 50% of the online fans believed that if KISS toured again either Paul and Gene would reunite with Bruce and Eric and tour or the original KISS in makeup would tour again. The poll breakdown was as follows: Gene & Paul reunite with Bruce and Eric on full tour - 32.8% (2364 Votes); Original KISS in makeup on full tour - 21.2% (1534 Votes); Original KISS on an acoustic convention tour (makeup or non) - 12.9% (934 Votes); Original KISS with Bruce and Eric on an acoustic convention tour - 10.1% (734 Votes); Original KISS without makeup on full tour - 9.2% (663 Votes); Gene & Paul recruit new members for full tour - 8.1% (588 Votes); Not sure - 5.3% (387 Votes)

For the first two legs of the KISS Farewell Tour VH-1.com has given online fans a "jump" at getting KISS tickets first before they go on sale at ticket locations around the country. Some people seemed to do really well getting good seats for shows, while others experienced massive frustration with the presale set up. In KISS ASYLUM's latest Fan Feedback poll we want to know "Was the VH-1.com Ticket Presale a good thing?" Click over to www.kissasylum.com/poll/ to cast your vote and make your opinion heard. KISSing Rock and Roll Goodbye
    From: Dailymail.com via Brian Cory
They may be going, but they won't be forgotten. So says Paul Stanley, the co-founder, guitarist and lead singer of KISS. "We couldn't stop KISS if we wanted to," he said Tuesday prior to the band's show in Memphis. "KISS will go on because the fans will demand it." The legendary larger-than-life group is in the midst of its Farewell Tour, which makes a stop Tuesday at the Charleston Civic Center. Skid Row and Ted Nugent open the 7 p.m. show. Stanley, whose on-stage makeup consists of a star over his right eye, says the Farewell Tour is just that, not some ploy to sell more tickets. "We've never said this before and we'll never say it again," said the 48-year- old New York native. "At this point, it's really an honor to go out and give the ultimate Œthank-you' to our fans, who mean so much to us. This is about celebrating what we've accomplished over the last 25-plus years.
