KISS News on the KISS Boxed Set
(Updated 5-29-96)
From: TOM STASZEWSKI (WYJC05C@prodigy.com)

I got this post from Tom Staszewski about the Boxed Set:

"I just heard a few tidbits of news regarding possible inclusions in the Box set, as well as some other goodies:

  • A friend of mine heard the "new" live album the other day, and he said everything sounds amazing, but ROOM SERVICE was actually done at a soundcheck, and Paul didn't like the vocal track, and overdubbed it recently.
  • Bob Ezrin left half way through the Carnival Of Souls recording sessions because he did not like the direction the band wanted to go in.

[Ed Note: That remains to be seen, on the fact Bob did not like the direction the band was going, but I do know, for a fact, that KISS was proceeding very slowly and Bob could not wait around]
The Ezrin tracks are supposedly Way different than what we've heard.

  • Tracks unearthed for possible inclusion in the box set:
  • A song sung by Ace called QUEEN FOR A DAY that was recorded for both Destroyer and Rock & Roll Over -- fully mixed versions from both the Ezrin and Kramer sessions exist.
  • An early version of DIRTY LIVIN recorded during the R & R Over sessions.
  • A version of STANGE WAYS with Gene on lead vox.
  • an early version of I Was Made called TONIGHT.
  • And versions of PARASITE / WATCHING YOU / LIFE IN THE WOODS / and
ACROBAT aka MUCH TOO YOUNG recorded during the 1st lp sessions.

Well, that's it so far!!! can't wait!!!"

    From: KISSNATION
    Via: Gary (garyc@dexel.co.za)

One of my readers, Gary, sent me this messege that KISSNATION sent him.
"Problem with S. Africa is that it costs a fortune to ship a stage show...there are not many other places to play in that neck of the woods. Anything's possible, but so far, no S. Africa."

KISS Stuff on the "Price is Right"
    (Updated 5-24-96)
    From: BEN GAMBINO (KPGP42C@prodigy.com)

The ENTIRE KISS CD catalog was one of the big prizes on the final showcase on "The Price Is Right" on Wednesday [May 22nd, 1996]!! They had a big display with some of the CD's and KISS posters. The other prizes in the showcase were a CD player and a trip to Tahiti. The guy who bid on the showcase was an old guy in a cowboy hat!!! He hardly looked like a KISS fan. Don't know if he won it, though.
