  • KISS Reunion Tour Book!
    From: GodoThndr

It's a great tour book. Half vintage shots, half new shots. I won't go into too much detail, but if you want more info e-mail me and I'll give you a better description (yes there were ads for the Gene and Paul's guitars and KISSTORY).

  • Check out the article, interview, and more on KISS at MSN's MusicCentral!

  • There's also an article from The Detroit News

  • New KISS Video?
    From: David Johnson
"A dj for the local Z-rock station got to attend the final dress rehersal at Tiger Stadium last night (they had been rehersing at Cobo Arena all week long as well). Anyway, about 50 people got to go. Can you imagine 50 people in Tiger Stadium with a full dress rehersal going on?!?"

"The point is, the dj said they shot footage for a video for "Shout It Out Loud", and that they'd shoot more at the show tonight. It was pretty late when I heard this. I was just getting ready to hit the sack, so who knows what will ultimately happen."

  • KISS in USA Today
The four covers of KISS on the new Spin magazine were displayed today on the cover of USA Today Life. The article attatched to these photos read this:

Pucker Power: for the first time in Spin's history, the rock music mag will release four seperate covers. Each features a KISS band member: greasepainted Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, or Peter Criss. The issues will be out July 16; the band's sold out tour kicks off June 28 at Detroit' Tiger Stadium.
To order all four covers ($2.95 each), call 1-800-829-9093.

  • Click here to see the picture of these SPIN Magazine covers.
[Very interesting and odd covers! Gene's make up looks a little off, Paul looks like he just finished off a piece of chocolate cake, Ace looks like he doesn't want to be there (or just spaced), and Peter looks litke the cat that at the canary with that Cheshire grin on his face!]

  • KISS Interview
    From: KingCool
"Today I picked up a local free music mag here in Pittsburgh called "Rock N' Roll Reporter" becuase they had KISS on the cover.

The magazine had exclusive separate phone interviews each with Paul, Gene, and Peter. This is kinda interesting since they haven't been doing too many interviews. The interviews must have been relatively recent since both Gene and Paul mentioned how they were adding second shows everywhere and how they're selling more tickets now than they did in the 70's.

Some of the interesting things that were said by Gene:
    - Don't have enough off days to play enough shows in every city so we'll be swinging back around and hitting the same places later on.
    - We want to keep it indoors on this first leg of the tour so we can get the tour looking and sounding just the way we want it.
    - 7 million bucks of electronics and machinery.
    - 11 trucks, 6 busses, and 60 people to move this tour.
    - When we do multiple shows, we're going to mix and match the songs and each night is going to have a different opening act.
    - We're just trying to push the idea of concerts to the limit.
    - When we come back in September, we're going to change the way concerts are done completely.
    Interviewer: Can you elaborate?
    Gene : No
    Interviewer: No?!
Gene: That's like finding out what you're going to get at Christmas.

I thought all this was interesting, especially that last comment. What in the world do you think they have planned for us?

  • KISS on MuchMusic
    From: Terry Faulkner "Slapshot44"
If you didn't see the Much Music spotlight on Kiss you didn't miss anything. There were no recent interviews or anything that has to with the reunion. The interviews they did have were mostly with Stanley and Carr from 1984.
The highlight was Rock and Roll All Night played with a bunch of clips from the early days up to Exposed. The only original member video they had was "I was made for loving you " then they played "A world without Heroes", "I love it loud" and everything after that was no make up Kiss videos.
They are going to have part 2 tomorrow (June 27).
I was disappointed in this special, it seemed like a repeat special they would have made in 1984.

  • KISS Phone Fan Club Card - "KISS My Access"
    From LER4
    Taken from an AOL post:
"Just heard that kiss will have a fan club phone cards called kiss my access. You buy a card and it gives you so many minutes access to the kiss fan club over the phone. There's suppose to be unreleased kiss music clips, messages from each member, tour dates on sale dates, complete info updates and more. It will be updated weekly by the band. The company putting this out says they will be releasing many cards in limited sets, some with album artwork, group and individual pictures!"
"I actually saw the ad for the first five cards in an advance copy of the kiss alive> the cards look cool!"

[Ed Note: This is just rumor..I am not sure if it is true or not. Take it for what it's worth.]

  • KISS TV Commercial
I got this post off of AOL describing the KISS TV commercial.
    From:Wasp94
"Just saw a VERY cool commercial for the new KISS CD, "You Wanted The Best",....It aired on MTV ....
The commercial was only about 30 seconds long, had absolutley no voiceover....just the sound of a crowd cheering....it started with the morph of the 4 faces...then it showed a 3 second live clip of each member, .....then it showed the cover of the CD......and finally it ended with the big KISS logo on the screen and underneath it said "in stores June 25"....
    "Very cool commercial indeed!"

  • KISS on Pay-Per-View?
According to my close sources....KISS is planning on doing a "pay-per-view" show or special in the near future (not sure of the date yet) . I am not sure if it will be a full concert or just a special but "pay-per-view" seems to be in the works as we speak. BUT remember, KISS has a history of backing out of "pay-per-views" so you never know. More on this as it becomes available!

  • Blockbuster Music - "Special Offer"
I got this messege in my KISS Asylum mailbox today!
    From: Jerry Cornish
RUN..don't walk...RUN to your nearest BLOCKBUSTER MUSIC store!! My friend phoned me to tell me about a KISS promo they were running so I jumped in my car and got to the store in record time. Here's the deal: go in and put $5.00 down on a pre-order for the new live album and they will GIVE you a promo-only CD-Single of NEW YORK GROOVE (live-Australia 1980)!! It's in a cool black & white sleeve and there's a special message on it from Gene, Paul, Ace, & Peter! ROCK ON!!
[Ed Note: this may not be the case in all areas -- check your closest Blockbuster Music for more details]

    ED NOTE:
I checked out this KISS promo disk today. It is cool! It has a "blockbuster greeting" as the first track with Paul, Gene, Peter, and Ace. It is pretty funny! It really is a bunch of "outtakes" from this "simple little greeting." The second track is as before mentioned,"New Your Groove."

  • KISS Review - "You Wanted The Best, You Got The Best"
    From:TOM STASZEWSKI (WYJC05C@prodigy.com)
Well, I got a copy of the live compilation today, and I saw the packaging as well. the packaging is REALLY cool looking-it's in a yellow and orange colored jewel case, which compliments the cover nicely. It opens up to a live shot of fists in the air with a comment by Danny Goldberg, Mercury president, and it folds out again to a live 1975 shot and the track listing with 4 separate 1976 shots of each member. Cool package!

Now, as for the 4 unreleased tracks....I'm of the opinion that either 1 of 2 things are going on here:

They obviously overdubbed ALL of the lead vocal tracks
recently, which is a REAL let down. It sounds great, but Gene & Paul in 1996 does not sound the same as in 1975 and you can tell.
And secondly, either they triggered modern drum sounds from the original drum tracks to make them sound more modern, OR, and this is a big OR, I think the original KISS re-recorded all of these tracks in the studio recently.
The drums do NOT sount like Peter circa 1975, in fact the whole SOUND sounds very modernized to me. I think it all sounds great, but it's botherng me just what exactly is going on here. i'm very suspicious. and of course, there's the overdubbed crowd noise as usual to screw things up. I
love it, but at the same time, I'm very upset that it wasn't left "as is".
All of the remastered tracks sound alot better-crisper, more full sounding. You won't be dissapointed at all. Well, that's it-judge for yourself when you actually hear it.

  • Gene Simmons Quote
Taken from ABC's "Sounds Of Summer Preview," 1996.
    Via: Trevor McCoy (CGKT46A@prodigy.com)
"The only thing we're concerned about is the big massive spectacle. We're gonna bring this back to the world. It needs it, we need it. We're sick and tired of bands getting up there, tying their shoelaces and thinking that's a show. We wanna bring spectacle back to rock n roll, that's our mission in life. The fans have given us the power, we will deliver. Vote for us."

  • Review of "You Wanted The Best You Got The Best"
    From: HDG 37@aol.com

"Got a copy of the "new" live album and felt like giving my opinion.

Of the four never released live tracks only "Let Me Know" sounds good enough to have made an album. "Room Service" sounds like they're playing it on 33, when it should be at 45. Paul's voice is real rough on this one and on "Take Me".
The song order I also think is lacking something. And as a friend of mine said, if Kiss is trying to reach some new fans, then they left out some real crowd pleasers (ig. "Detroit Rock City", "Cold Gin" etc.)
As for the interview, We've all heard it before, give me 5 more never released live tunes and I'm happy."

  • KISS - Ticket Scams!
From: Mike C. "King of the Nighttime World" (chewie@galileo.mis.net)
I got this report from Mike C. on Ticket Scams.

Just wanted to alert everyone in the Asylum about the rash of TicketMaster outlet employees skimming the first seats sold to KISS shows to themselves.
I won the ticket lottery at the Video Worx in Georgetown, and that got me
first in line. The owner of the outlet pulled eight seats for himself when
the sale began (10th row floor), then proceeded to dole out the rest of the
seats to me and his other customers...
Watch out for owners and employees doing this by

    (1) being inside the outlet minutes before the sale
    (2) listening for tickets being printed as the sale begins (all of the sales usually start perfectly on time)
    (3) if you're first in line, 99% of the time you will receive seats somewhere between the third and fifteenth row on the floor (the first two rows almost always go to record stations, the venue, TicketMaster, the band, etc.)...if you're first in line and have bad seats, then you've been screwed

Recently the owner of the Video Worx confessed what he did to TicketMaster, and I wound up getting his tickets. If real KISS fans would like to write to his store and tell him what you think of his business practices, you may do so to: Video Worx, Washington Square Shopping Center, Georgetown, KY 40324. I would gladly appreciate it.
