  • (7-25-96) For KISS, Nothing Succeeds Like Excess [New York Times]

  • Comments on YWTB,YGTB (Japanesse version):
    From: Douglas MacGunnigle

"I just wanted to add a few words about the Japanese Version of YWTBYGTB. The Packaging is Identical in the main booklet, With the addition of NY Groove! There is a page of Kiss stickers included in the package. The stickers are the same circular pictures included in the booklet.

A second booklet is also included, With the same cover, except in B&W. The booklet features a Japanese translation of the Linear Notes and Interview with Jay Leno, and Aloso the Lyrics to the entire album including NY Groove, in Japanese and English.

I paid $30 for this and I suppose that it is worth it. If you can find it for cheap and you don't already have the American version, you might want to pick it up. (or, if you still have a record player, you can pick up the Vinyl that has NY Groove as well.)"

  • KISS Concert on VH-1!!!!!
I got this eMail messege from a guy at VH-1 about this KISS news:

"We will be broadcasting the KISS concert August 24 at 10 p.m. EST. Just wanted to drop a line and let you know. Also on our AOL site we will be posting a feature artist page with a lot of downloadable clips etc. - Rich"

I talked to Rich again and he told me:
"The August concert will be one hour long. Although I haven't found out what show it is, I have a hunch it's the HBO Special that was done in 77? It's part of a 70's week long event. We will have clips of KISS from videos on our AOL site (Keyword VH1).

  • KISS News Corrections and Rumor busters:
    1) Ace is OK! He was sick with a cold that triggered his Asthma. He is fine and the tour will continue. These rumors of the Tour being cancelled and about an Ace stand-in are totally BOGUS! Trust me! Everything is fine! Everyone can relax.
    2) The little news bit that Jeremy Portz emailed the Asylum about concerning KISS playing a "rare set" are false! KISS is NOT going to be playing this set according to my sources. Also if people get info from Polygram.....watch out becuase Polygram is has NOTHING to do with this tour. Only KISS knows what they are going to do. And I relay this information onto you guys.
I hope this clears up all the rumors floating around! -- Deuce

  • KISS on the Cover of Columbia House Music Mag
    From Rudy H. Lopez

"Thought you'd like to know that Kiss Unplugged is the selection of the month for Columbia House (if the category selected is Hard Rock). On the cover is the picture of the Unplugged CD with all members standing and Ace giving the thumbs up. What's funny is that inside description of CD makes it sound like all four original members play throughout the entire CD. Great marketing tactic."

Jeremy Portz eMailed me again to tell me that
"Aside from the Oath and Baby Driver, Radioactive, Larger Than Life, Tossin' and Turnin', Snowblind, and Hard Luck Luck Woman will be played (as the rare set)."
And this set is only going to be played ONE TIME. It will be played in Kansas September 10th." [Read Jeremy's letter from July 17 for additional info]

  • Special KISS Set Lists?
I got this letter from Jeremy Portz in my email box today. It read:
"Here is some good info that I thought you would be interested in. And, this is directly from the Polygram "people" so it is legit."
"On the tour there are a total of five different song sets. 4 of the 5 are the regular songs and are played most everywhere. BUT there is one strange song set. This set includes such songs as "Baby Driver", "The Oath", and other great rare live songs. This set is only going to be played a few times. I don't know where they will be played, but I will tell you when I find out!"

  • KISS Pay Per View?
I know this has been rumored for a while now but to get to the bottom of this I decided to investigate further. Last night I talked to one of my very close reliable KISS sources that said that KISS is trying to have this PPV event on Oct. 31 in LA. My source said it is a done deal but it is still "subject to change." We know KISS...everything is "tentative." More on this as it develops.

  • New KISS Video!
This was mentioned a week ago but I saw this note posted on AOL and thought I would post it. From: Wasp94

"I pulled into Detroit Friday at 7:00 am......As I was driving, I had the radio tuned to whatever station is 101.1 FM, and they were talking to a reporter about the big KISS event later that night. He said he was at Tiger Stadium Thursday night, and KISS had a rehearsal for about 2 - 300 media people, letting them take pics, while KISS went over all of the specifics like timing, cues, camera angles, etc...

Most importantly, he said that they were in full costume and makeup, because during this rehearsal, they were filming footage that would be included in a video KISS is going to release for the song "Shout It Out Loud" from YWTBYGTB.

I'm sure they will mix that footage with footage from the actual show to come up with the video. Afterall, those 2 helicopters *were* filming the show all night from up there!
