  • More KISS Figures news
    From: Jeff Necker
"I just wanted to comment on your posting of H&H's statement about Kiss action figures. I am toy collector as well as a Kiss collector, and I surf into sites (and talk to people at toy Companies)that are strictly about collecting action figures. At this time there are no scheduled Kiss releases by Hasbro/Kenner(Star Wars & Batman)or Toy Biz(X-Men & Spiderman) through March/April of 1997. I know H&H has an in with the band, but all toys sources I use (not just the net) have declared these statements purely rumor at this point. I will say, however, that there is no formal statemnet out yet from McFarlane Toys (Spawn) so who knows. I just think people shouldn't get there hopes up. Look how long we have waited for KISSNation, and the other things Gene mentioned during the Convention tour. Thanx for the time."

  • KISS Rumor
    From: Matthew Blais
"A rumour about the figures I heard was that there is going to be an assortment of figures arriving in batches( I.E: One set of four figures to arrive chronologically starting with the original leather "sex shop" costumes, all the way through the Eric Carr Years, and finishing with reproductions of the "New Costumes" that the band is supposedly working on now to coincide with the release of a new studio album together) I also heard that there will be a set of 4 12" figurines that feature the LOVE GUN/CURRENT costumes. The last thing I heard was that the deal with Marvel comics to release them with the X-Men line of figures fell through so they are shopping around the idea to toy companys.
-One other note, on Tuesday, Sept 24th, MTV played KISS' performance at the VMA's twice as a video, once around 12:30 pm est and the other at 6:30 pm on their program "Superock" (you know, that sucky show that they tried to replace the Ball with, now it's a half-hour afternoon program)

  • New KISS Action Figures?
From: H&H Marketing Summer 96 Newsletter
"With the unprecedented success of KISS' Alive Worldwide Tour, toy collectors and KISS fans are eagerly awaiting brand new toys. At press time, though not yet confirmed, there are plans to make new KISS action figures in today's popular 5" format with at least 5 costume variations for each member. Sounds insane that consumers may have to purchase 20 figures to have a complete set? Well, Kenner Toys many not agree with you; it has just produced its 100th Batman variation and has no plans to srop creating dozens more. Be Prepared: an Eric Carr figure in the Hawk costume just may become a reality.

    From: KISS Asylum / Deuce
I talked to someone close to the group ther other day in regards to Ace. I have been getting alot of notes and even some phone calls asking me what is up with Ace and if he is drinking again. I told them I doubted it....I looked further into it and there is a good possibility that Ace might be taking asthma pills/inhalers (which are pure hormones and make you look bliated and gives you shakes etc). There is a stong possibility that he is on asthma (bronchitis) meds. Just thought I would put your minds at ease.

It says something like, "this past summer, there was a huge reunion between Ace,Paul,Peter,& Gene. Yes its KISS. Why are we talking about KISS?? Because they were voted best band by all the wrestlers. Such superstars as The King, Aldo Montoya & Skip have gone to see KISS!!"

  • KISS featured in Live Wire magazine
    From: Jeff Necker
"A Magazine called LIVE WIRE has KISS on the cover. It is a posed shot similar to the Entertainment Weekly, but on a white cover. Title says "Kiss-Hotter than Hell Again." Ther is about an 8 page article inside with lots of live shots. Looks like Tiger Stadium. This Mag comes in plastic bag that says "Kiss Alive Again". The Bag also contains a 2 sided poster. The side visible from outside the bag is a re-print of the Spirit of '76 poster. The other side is a posed shot (common picture) from earlier THIS YEAR. The issue is vol.6 #11--Oct/Nov edition. (published bi-monthly). Cover price is $4.95. I picked mine up at Border's Books & Music. No other stores I went to had this Mag. i.e. Target, Meijer's, K-Mart, Waldon's, B-Dalton's or any of the local drug stores. I'm sure there will be plenty aroun. Good Luck. • KISS mention on the "Drew Carrey show"
    From: Jerry Cornish
"KISS was also written into the storyline of the season premier of the "Drew Carey Show". For those who don't know the show it's about a Personnel Officer at a department store set in Cleveland. The Administrative Assistant is a very unattractive, rude and obnoxious woman named Mimi and she and Drew are always cracking on each other. Well...Mimi came in to work with a 'tear' in her heavily made-up eyes and Drew asked her what was wrong. She said that her sister was in the hospital. When Drew asked her why she didn't just 'call in sick' she said, "I can't. I used up all my sick days following KISS on tour"! I am so glad I got the whole episode on tape cuz it was TOO funny!"

  • KISS mentioned on The Single Guy
    From: Marty Downes
"KISS was mentioned on NBC's sitcom The Single Guy 9/19 Talked about buying KISS tickets from a scalper for $200 and getting chased by the cop's."

    From: JayTeleBoy@aol.com
"In between "Friends" and "Seinfeld" on NBC's 'Must See TV' is a usually poor sitcom called the "Single Guy". In this episode, though, their stock rose with KISS fans. The Single Guy was dating a women who was on the NYPD. She was in his apartment when his best friend came in to relate a story about almost being busted by a NYC cop as he tried to buy KISS tickets from a scalper for a show at the Beacon. He was arguing with the scalper over price (the scalper wanted $200 for close to the stage - not bad compared to other prices I've heard over the summer) when a cop broke it up. He then asked the Single Guy's date what her favorite KISS song was. When she replied "Beth", he said sarcastically, "the ballad...chicks." She didn't say anything, but as she left he saw her jacket, badge and gun. It wasn't incredibly funny, but it proves who had the hottest tour this summer. No scalper story could be that good about the Eagles. It looks like the KISS Army is making its way further into Hollywood!"

  • KISS on Jay Leno Again!
    From: Kathy
"Again last night.........only this time it was towards the end of the show. We've become accustomed to clips during the monologue....then I think everyone goes to bed. I had the tv on in the other room and only caught some of it after hearing a few seconds of RARAN. Jay was just interviewing some fans backstage at the LA show and making it look like everyone was pretty stupid until it came to Kiss. No one knew jack about world events or history but people were spitting out Kiss trivia and singing lyrics to songs as fast as he could ask them to. It was pretty funny how he set it up....... He asked one guy what the name of Lincoln's speech was and when he made it and he said it was "The Equal Opportunity of Freedom Speech made around 1964!" He looked like an ass but when Jay asked him a Kiss question he was right on it. It was too much. He asked another girl what was Bob Dole's wifes name. She had no clue but when asked what a LoveGun was she replied "Paul's thingamajig in his pants!" I guess they're gonna keep milking this Tonight Show stuff. Sure wish it was on earlier!"

  • KISS in Forbes Top 40
    From: David Swayne
"An article in our city's only newspaper, the Peoria Journal Star has published from Forbes magazine a top 40 list of the highest-paid entertainers, and Kiss is number 29 at $35 million dollars in earnings for 1995-1996. They are behind such entertainers as Oprah Winfrey whom is first at $171 million dollars, Beatles at number three $130 million dollars, Rolling Stones in fifth at $77 million, and the Eagles at number eight at $75 million dollars. Kiss is ahead of Charles Schultz (Peanuts) in 30th position at $33 million dollars, Bill Cosby in 31st position at $33 million dollars, Kevin Costner in 35th position at $31 million dollars, and Metallica in 38th position at $28 million dollars. Pretty cool?.

Also there is a little article in a newspaper supplement called Parade with the following question and answer:
Q: I heard that before their recent reunion, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons tracked down the other original Kiss members - Ace Frehley, who left in 1982, and Peter Criss, who left in 1980 - and found them living on the street. With all the money Frehley and Criss made before they left the band and all the royalties off their album sales, I found it hard to believe they'd be broke, don't you? - Denise Helmke, San Antonio, Texas.

A: Not only hard but untrue. The two have had misadventures - including Frehley's drunk-driving arrests in 1983 and 1984 and Criss's 1995 gun-possession charge at JFK airport in New York - but they never ended up on the street. In fact, the 26 Kiss albums have sold 75 million copies, providing each member with financial security. "None of these guys has been down and out since the early ' 70's when they were rehearsing in a loft in Manhattan," their spokesman, Peter LoFrumento, tells PARADE. Reunited for an MTV "Unplugged" show last Halloween, the four original members (bassist Simmons, 47; lead singer Stanley, 44; lead guitarist Frehley, 45; and drummer Criss, 48) enjoyed working together so much that they launched a two-year tour, their first in 17 years, complete with their trademark black-and-white face paint.

  • New KISS Contract???
    From: Bob Rodrick
"I got off the phone with a friend in Jersey this afternoon who works in the music retail industry (he's in touch with Polygram). There is a new rumor going that Kiss is close to signing an extension on their recording contract. The intial contract that was signed in 1989 was for 7 albums that included studio albums, greatest hits, "Alive III" and Paul and Gene solo albums. Well, obviously, no solo albums are in the future, and 5 albums have gone by. It's now said that Kiss will sign for 5 more releases, as follows: box set in 1997, new studio album in 1998, another studio album in the year 2000, and "Alive IV" and a "best of album" are slated as the last two Kiss releases in the year 2001. Just rumor, so what I'm saying isn't concrete. From a mouth of Polygram rep to a retail clerk."

"One other note is that the Kiss box set is now said to be about 4 or 5 dics of nothing but rarities: unreleased demos, alternate versions, live cuts, and the "Carnival of Souls" album and demos. Possible 3 video tape movie to be included (the movie Kiss has been filming for the past few years.)."

  • KISS segment on American Journal
I saw it last night. The segment was narrated by Karen Duffy (yes "Duff" from MTV! -- you can tell she is a KISS fan). The segment was pretty short but very cool. It had interviews with Tim Rozner, KISS' road manager, and an interview with "Spin" Magazines' editor. The segment showed footage from the KISS Press Conference, KISS backstage, the roadies setting up the show, some cool KISS fan shots, and some shots from KISS in Detroit playing live. They mentioned some tour facts and basically gave it a good review. It was very cool in all. Apparently Karen Duffy will ALSO cover KISS' performance at the MTV Music Awards so we probably should be on the lookout for that segment at a later date.

There are two kinds of tickets.
    ORANGE TICKET: Which guarantees admission.
    BLUE TICKET: Which is standby.

"HOW WOULD YOU LIKE A LITTLE KISS!"
Thats how the ticket starts out!
Location: 21 FRONT STREET is where you will find parking and the KISS spot is down the block. Directions from the BQE, get off CADMAN PLAZA/Bklyn bridge, than Old Fulton Street, east river drive and than you find 21 Front street. There is even a number on the ticket in case it rains or you need more info 846-KISS ! ! ! !

"I believe this is the Exact spot I was at a few weeks ago for a party. I remember going on & on about how great the view was from there and wishing I could come back there and party every week. Never ever did I ever imagine KISS would play at that very spot. This Spot is sooo MINT. This could very well be one of the all time great moments in KISSTORY!!! see ya there, but DONT get in my way ;)"

  • Sept 3
  • KISS Reference on MDA Telethon
Got this in my Email box today from Tom Settles
"Nothing major concerning the band KISS, but earlier today (Sept 2) on the national part of the Jerry Lewis Labor day Telethon a cheerleading squad (I'm not sure from where) did a couple routines to a medley of KISS songs! It included I was Made For Loving You, Heaven's On Fire, and R&R All Nite. That's all that I caught since I was working for the local side of the telethon in St. Louis."

  • KISS on American Journal today
Got this messege in my email box today from Tazman:
"Just saw an ad for American Journal that KISS will be on the show tomight. They billed it as, "your backstage pass to KISS". Should be cool."

[KISS Asylum Note: According to Tazman, this episode is new! so check it out!]

  • KISS on ABC's "In Concert"
According to a couple of sources I have learned that KISS will be on ABC's "In Concert" show on Sept 13th or 14th. Just check your local TV guide for air time....it usually is late at night. Most likely it will show one KISS song from a live performance.

  • Sept 2
  • Bruce Kulick - LIVE!
Just had a conversation with Gerri Miller of Metal Edge magazine. She told me that she is working on getting Bruce to come on AOL for a Nightclub chat on Thrusday Sept 5th!! Bruce Kulick will be on at 9pm Central time. He will use an account made for him from Gerri's computer. Bruce has not gotten his computer yet.

[KISS Asylum Note: I should be there for the FULL chat. I will try to LOG the entire chat and post it here at The KISS Asylum for those who do not have AOL!!]

  • New Studio Album from The Original KISS!
I don't have "total" confirmation on this but I talked to someone close to KISS recently and KISS is most definately thinking of doing a new studio album. This may be news to some or it may not be news to others....but in any case...KISS is thinking about doing it. It does seem like the next logical step. A 1997 release is possible.
As far as the Carnival of Souls / Head shelved KISS studio album goes...it looks like it will not see the light of day. It may be inthe up coming boxed set....but at this time it is undetermined if that is the case.
