Gene's Jeans
From: www.metalhammer.co.uk
KISS bassist/vocalist and all round entrepreneur, GENE SIMMONS, is currently working on his own jeans line.

Recently Simmons said in his online journal: "I met with the head of a jeans company to discuss my upcoming line of Genejeans, Genejeannies, Kidjeans and Kidjeannies... All of which have now been trademarked!"

Hammer thought it'd be fun to register Jean Simmons, but alas, that had been trademarked too!

KISS & tell: Gene's life could become reality
From: NYDailyNews.com
by Richard Huff
Kiss bassist GENE SIMMONS could soon join the ranks of rockers in reality TV.

Simmons, known for spitting blood onstage and dalliances with thousands of women off—stage, is considering three different reality—show pitches that will revolve around his life.

"People want to follow me around," he said. "I publish magazines, and I have a bizarre lifestyle. I can be up on stage and wear more makeup and high heels than your mommy did. And off stage I wear suits."

GENE SIMMONS and NASCAR
From: WashingtonPost.com
by Dan Steinberg
GENE SIMMONS and his tongue came to Richmond International Raceway last weekend to promote three KISS-themed NASCAR vehicles and a line of die-cast collectible replicas.

You want to talk about NASCAR?
Of course, I do.

You're a NASCAR fan?
Very much so.

Interview with GENE SIMMONS
From: TVGuide Online
To hear GENE SIMMONS tell it, he's the sexiest, richest and hardest-working man in show business (sorry, James Brown). And on his current DVD release, Speaking in Tongues, the demon-faced bassist of KISS documents his id-gone-wild lecture tour of Australia. Simmons is also keeping a high TV profile with a guest shot on the new season of Third Watch and a (still-in-discussion) makeover on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Seems like a good time to play a little KISS and tell.

TV Guide Online: On your new DVD, you are honest about your unconventional views about relationships.
GENE SIMMONS: I pretty much tell the truth: I love women. GENE SIMMONS the public person and GENE SIMMONS the private person are exactly the same guy. The reason the rags [tabloids] are in existence is because people have Jekyll-and-Hyde lives. I don't.

TVGO: How many women have you been with?
Simmons: I'm getting close to 4700. I know that by counting the photos, which I keep in books. I have names, cities and dates on the back of each picture. It's difficult to remember them all.

KISS Car in Busch Grande National Race
From: Nascar.com

Simmons at Chevy Rock & Roll 400
From: Nascar.com
KISS member GENE SIMMONS attended the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 and said his driving style pales in comparison to a NASCAR star's.

"I drive like a grandma," he said. "I'm embarrassing. You get into a car with me and you just want to run alongside so you can get there before I do. I drive like a turtle. I’m always in the slowest lane."

KHI and KISS set to kick-off Chevy Rock N Roll Weekend
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- Kevin Harvick, Inc.'s (KHI) No. 6 Chevrolet Silverado will don the special paint scheme of America's hottest legendary rock band, KISS, in Thursday night's running of the Kroger 200 at Richmond International Raceway. Matt Crafton, driver of the No. 6 GM Goodwrench truck for KHI, will be the first of three drivers to continue the relationship between KISS, Chevrolet, and GM Goodwrench throughout the weekend. Team owner and NEXTEL Cup star, Kevin Harvick, along with NASCAR Busch Series driver, Ron Hornaday, will also run special KISS paint schemes in each of their respected series.

"KISS has been involved with NASCAR since the fall of 2001," explains lead singer, PAUL STANLEY. "It is a great American sport and it has been great for us to be involved with Chevrolet. We couldn't be more pleased to continue our partnership with a company like Chevrolet and be affiliated with Richard Childress Racing and Kevin Harvick, Inc. We will be represented in all three series, which is something we have never done before, so we intend on going out there to win and expose more people to racing and rock n' roll, which go hand in hand. We are really proud to be a part of this."

"This is awesome," adds Crafton. "I met Gene (Simmons) and Paul (Stanley) at our Chevrolet unveiling of the KISS paint schemes and then got to see them in action when they came to play at Charlotte. It is an honor to have such a legendary rock band supporting us this race. In high school, I used to listen to them quite a bit so it's kind of weird to have a one-off paint scheme with a band you were a fan of and listened to for so long. I have always liked the one-off paint schemes that teams come out with and now I get to be a part of one."

Mexico Trip
From: KISSAsylum.com
By Keith Leroux with editing by Russ Dannecker
My KISS Mexico Trip report a few weeks late but finally here. This is the 3rd time I have seen KISS in Mexico and the fans there are always intense. My friend Russ and I had been planning on going to these shows since they were announced. Our other friends Mike and Rob also went and we brought along another friend Steve for his first trip to Mexico. These trips are always a fun time. Let me begin.

We flew into Monterrey on the 14th, arrived around 12 noon and hired a taxi van to take us to our hotel, The Sheraton Ambassador. A Great hotel with a super cool and helpful staff. After checking in and cleaning up, we headed out for a little exploring and some lunch. We decided to head over to the arena around 5 to check out the great selection of un -official (aka bootleg) merchandise. Bootlegging in Mexico is out of control and legal. Vendors set up on the streets outside the venue and sell everything you can image. This year was no different. Over 30 vendors lined the pavement and were selling everything – dozens of different kinds of t-shirts, hats, lighters, jackets, posters, and necklaces. You name it – it was there. A lot of the stuff is junk but some of it is very cool and very cheap. The way we like it!

After checking out the merch for a little bit, we headed over to the box office to see if the guest list was up. While we had a little trouble with the language barrier, the staff was really helpful and one of the guys actually went to the back stage area to pick up our tickets. While waiting for him, we took in the scene outside the Monterrey Arena. The vibe was really cool . These fans were getting really excited as they lined up to enter the Arena. Many fans were in full costume and makeup and the crowd was much like the US – all ages, shapes and sizes!! A stage was set up right in front of the arena and a death metal band (I think) was performing. They did a brutal version of "War Machine" among other covers and their own material as well. Lets just leave it at that!

Gene on Third Watch
From: NBC
NBC SEASON PREMIERE RESUMES AS COPS FIGHT FOR LIVES AGAINST RAGING MOBSTER; GENE SIMMONS ('KISS') RETURNS TO GUEST-STAR — In the season premiere September 17, the action resumes from last year's finale as an obsessed mob leader (guest star GENE SIMMONS from "KISS") continues to unleash his fury over his son's death by trying to kill scores of cops — especially Detective Cruz (Tia Texada). As the NYPD reels from his attacks, four masked gunmen scythe through the hospital jammed with the wounded. The gun battle rages over multiple floors and Bosco (Jason Wiles) is critically wounded — causing Cruz to wonder if a fellow cop is in league with the mobsters. Meanwhile, Kim (Kim Raver) is repulsed by the carnage despite some exciting news. Coby Bell, Eddie Cibrian, Nia Long, Molly Price, Anthony Ruivivar and Skipp Sudduth also star.

KISS Float
From: www.KISScorso.nl
On September 5, 2004 a float in Europe's largest and most beautiful flower parade will be entirely dedicated to the rock band KISS.

If you realise that normal sizes for these floats are 20 metres (66 ft.) long, 4.5 metres (15 ft.) wide and 9 metres (30 ft.) high, you can imagine that this is going to be an impressive spectacle.

The Kiss-float will be provided with music, figuration and several special effects which are supposed to recreate the atmosphere of a KISS-performance.

KISS in Mexico: Paul on Politics and Music
From: KISSAsylum.com
by Keith Leroux
KISS ASYLUM was lucky enough to attend all three Mexico KISS Shows and we will have a detailed story along with photos from our trip posted over the weekend. We also attended the KISS Mexican Press conference before the first Monterrey show. The event was filled with press people representing all kinds of news outlets from around Mexico. The band made their entrance and the cameras started flashing and after several minutes the questions began. Most of the questions were just plain silly, like one to Gene asking him if he’s going to move to Japan when he retires. PAUL STANLEY had the best answer of the day, when he replied to a question about the US Presidential Election by saying that it's important to vote and he’s trying to encourage people to get out and vote but that it’s not his place to tell them who to vote for! Way to go Paul!! Your answer was really refreshing! I am so tired of hearing from condescending entertainers telling me how to vote.

Ok enough politics ...on a more rock related note, Paul said he was going to get a little rest and then jump right into recording his solo record. He sounds really excited about the project. A representative from Sanctuary Records said they expect to release Paul's CD in early 2005. We'll keep you posted as soon as we hear any updates.

News about BRUCE KULICK
From: KISSAsylum.com
by Keith Leroux
First off, was able to catch another great Grand Funk Railroad show a few weeks back in Southern Indiana. If you have not seen Bruce with GFR yet, you are missing a great band. Their set feature classic songs "American Band", "Locomotion", "I'm Your Captain/Closer to Home" and "Some Kinda Wonderful" as well as a few new songs including "Who Took Down the Stars?" (Written by Bruce). But for me the highlights of the show are two solos, Bruce's "Star Spangled Banner" and Don Brewer's drum solo. Bruce's solo for obvious reasons and Don's solo for his incredible energy. Bruce really fits in great with this band and I highly recommend you try and catch a show! Check out GFR tour dates at www.grandfunkrailroad.com.

After the show I had dinner with Bruce, along with my friends Rich Gagnon and Allen & Karen Mullins (the Cincy KISS Expo promoters). The Mullins, who had a great time rocking out in the front row, are going to have Bruce as their Expo guest next spring. Bruce mentioned he is still working on the Union DVD and will to have it released this year. There is also talk that GFR is going to release a live concert DVD. Bruce has dates through November with GFR and then heads to Europe for some solo shows and the UK KISS Expo. We are also currently talking about getting Bruce to Japan in early 2005.

"Hot Licks", Bruce's instructional guitar tape is finally available on DVD (we have it at KISSshop now). The DVD version has a great bonus section featuring a live clip of Bruce's solo from the Crazy Nights Tour as well as an audio gallery with several instrumental recordings.
