My Dad The Rockstar
From: The Telegraph - Calcutta, India
What happens when a kid with a rockstar father tries to take a break in the countryside? Willy Zilla finds out all that and more in Nick’s brand new show My Dad the Rockstar, which premiered on February 26. It is based on the book My Dad The Rock Star: Rebel Without A Nose Ring by GENE SIMMONS of legendary rock band KISS, and follows the misadventures of Willy Zilla, a 12-year-old kid with a millionaire rock star father. Willy wants to be the normal kid on the block and thinks his dreams have come true when his dad goes into semi-retirement. But he soon finds out that life in a small town as the son of a celebrity is full of action. The show will air on Saturdays and Sundays at 10.30 am and repeat at 3.30pm in India.

Cold feet and a wet KISS at 6th Annual Polar Plunge
From: mlive.com
by Liz Cobbs
Wearing a black bow tie and a small white carnation in the buttonhole of his black suit coat, a shirtless Kip Smith turned to his fiancee, Jamie Cox, dressed in white, and kissed her.

Then, Smith and Cox, accompanied by maid of honor Chris Carpenter, took the plunge, not into marriage, but into the near-freezing water of Belleville Lake. The three friends joined 20 others taking turns jumping off a dock behind the Moose Lodge and into the 34-degree water before emerging somewhat dazed to the cheers of spectators.

The plungers did it all for the Sixth Annual Polar Plunge fund-raiser for Special Olympics Michigan.

New Giants shortstop a KISS fan
From: ChicoER.com
Omar Vizquel arrived in camp Monday, put on his San Francisco Giants workout gear and took ground balls for the first time in more than four months.

A few years ago, he told MLB.com that he had a poster of Davey Concepcion above his bed as a young boy.

"I also had posters of Led Zeppelin, Van Halen and KISS," Vizquel told the Web site. "I thought GENE SIMMONS and ACE FREHLEY were the coolest dudes around. I didn't know any English at the time, so I had no idea what these guys were singing about. I just knew I liked it. I sang away at the top of my lungs."

ABBA Tribute does KISS
From: KISSAsylum.com
by Russ Dannecker
Last Night ( Sat Feb 26th ) myself and my good friend Mike Naimoli and his lovely girfriend Miss Kazumi went to see the ABBA tribute band BJORN AGAIN perform in Glenside P.A. It was another Sold Out Show for this ABBA Tribute Band. The show started and all of the crowd where all sitting down clapping along to each song. Halfway thru the show the 2 girls of BJORN AGAIN leave the stage for a costume change. So the Men decides they want to rock out. They decide to play Rock and Roll All Night. The place went nuts everyone was standing up and clapping and singing Rock and Roll All Night out loud. It's funny how you go to see an ABBA tribute band and a KISS song turns out to be a one of the big hits of the night. OOO and by the way if you like ABBA go see BJORN AGAIN when they play your town. Its a fun night.

A Message From BRUCE KULICK
From: Kulick.net
by BRUCE KULICK
HELLO everyone! I have to share the most incredible week with you all! I was asked by Jack Blades from Night Ranger to be a counselor at David Fishof's Rock n Roll Fantasy Camp this past week in Los Angeles and what an amazing event it turned out to be. I never worked so hard, and I never had so many chills performing with and meeting artists that I grew up listening to.

Let me start with rehearsal last Wednesday. We needed to be familiar with about 30 songs in order to jam for the campers and back up the special artists. Little did I know that Sir Roger Daltrey from The Who would appear and we were not really ready for him. We had to perform a set with him that would end the week long events at the House of Blues on Sunset Blvd.

After a long 6 hour rehearsal, I got little sleep to be ready for "camp" at 9:30 in the morning that Thursday. That was the day the campers would check in, and be evaluated for their talent so that we can put them all in bands and learn and compete by playing a cover or original song, and learn a WHO song for Roger to sing with them.

They Came From Queens
From: Michael Naimoli/Phoneman68@aol.com
In Queens, New York City, there is a free, weekly, local newspaper called the Queens Tribune. The latest issue dated February 24th to March 2nd is dedicated entirely to celebrities that are or were from Queens. The cover reads "They Came From Queens." On page 26, under the Music/These talented performers have all called Queens home section, there is a mention of GENE SIMMONS (Chaim Witz). Here is what it says: In recent years, this founding member of the band KISS released a detailed biography entitled "KISS and Make UP," a play on the fact that the band would wear outlandish make-up and costumes as they banged away a series of chart-topping hits like "Dr. Love," "Detroit Rock City," "Lick It Up" and "I Wanna Rock & Roll All Night."

An honorable mention has to go out to PAUL STANLEY (Stanley Eisen) who is listed on page 29. Here is what his says: This founding member, rhythm guitarist and vocalist for the band KISS was born in Manhattan in 1952 and moved to Queens as a child. He and GENE SIMMONS had started the band Wicked Lester, but it was not very successful. In 1973 they joined up with ACE FREHLEY and PETER CRISS to form KISS and made history.

On the same page as Gene are mentions of Johnny and Joey Ramone, Madonna (Louise Veronica Ciccone), Joan Jett, Al Jolson, Cyndi Lauper, Alicia Keyes and Run of Run DMC. Paul is listed on the same page as Paul Simon and Thomas "Fats" Waller.

KISS Vinyl Billboard Ad Donated To Victims Of HURRICANE IVAN
From: New York Times
A vinyl billboard ad featuring the black-and-white painted faces of the rock band KISS is among the ads being offered by Lamar Advertising Co. to victims of Hurricane Ivan to use as roof tarps until owners can get permanent repairs, according to the Associated Press.

The billboard material is thicker, more resistant to damage from ultraviolet light and designed to last longer than the FEMA tarps. Nearly 200 Ivan victims have contacted United Way, which is coordinating distribution locally, and there has been interest from other parts of Florida.

Lamar Advertising, based in Baton Rouge, La., has donated the coverings, which can be used facing up or down.

Gunman who shot Bruce sentenced
From: Blabbermouth.net
According to a posting on former KISS guitarist BRUCE KULICK's official web site, the gunman who shot Kulick on Sunset Blvd. in 2003 has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in connection with the incident. "Justice is slow, but I know alot of my fans were curious to hear what happened," Bruce writes on his web site.

On Oct. 15, 2003, Kulick attended a concert by MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil at the Key Club on Sunset Blvd., and left the with a friend at 1:30 a.m. As he walked down the Strip, he heard gunshots. He looked down to see a hole through his leather pants, right above the knee. Next thing he noticed, blood was coming down his leg.

Kulick heard a second bullet whiz past his ear and realized he'd been grazed in his head by it.

PAUL STANLEY at pre-Grammy Party
From: Blabbermouth.net
KISS guitarist/vocalist PAUL STANLEY was among the attendees at the annual Clive Davis pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hills hotel last Saturday (Feb. 12) in Beverly Hills, California — one day prior to the 47th Grammy Awards. Stanley attended the party with girlfriend Erin Sutton and is said to have mingled with people like Jimmy Page, Clive Davis and former KISS songwriting collaborator Desmond Child. A recap of the evening's events from legendary rock photographer Ross Halfin follows:

"Sitting at our table is PAUL STANLEY, who tells me he is addicted to my website - he reads it in the middle of the night when he can't sleep (GENE SIMMONS probably would - if I paid him) and his girlfriend Erin. He tells [Jimmy Page] he can't tell if I namedrop him or Slash the most. The bright lighting is suddenly obscured by a figure nearly as big as the ballroom we're in. It's Steven Segal... I am not joking, he is physically HUGE. A bit like a Buddha — well, he claims to be into Eastern Religion when he is not killing 5000 people with one hand. Much to our surprise he's at our table. Paul, Jimmy and I watch him consume all of the dessert — he puts his glasses on then consumes two tiers of pastries from giant plates... I mean everything. We're all nudging each other, trying not to laugh."

Congratulations also go out to BOB KULICK who produced the Grammy Award winning Motorhead song in the category of "Best Metal Performance" covering Metallica's Whiplash.

The Scoop on Union
From: BraveWords.com
Guitarist BRUCE KULICK (GRAND FUNK RAILROAD, ex-KISS) has issued the following remarks:

"UNION is NOT back together. I have worked hard to get the DVD we filmed in 2001 ready for a release by the end of 2004 early 2005, and I am so proud to finally have it (will have them in my home next week). I booked Japan as a promoter wanted me to do some solo dates. I said, no let's do UNION."

"The guys were all up to it, excited about the DVD etc, and then of course Brent Fitz got a great gig with THEORY OF A DEAD MAN. Left UNION drummerless for the Japan trip, which was the only thing planned for the band. ERIC SINGER helped out which of course was a natural and really made the fans and the band extremely happy!"

Small Tribute Paid to Larger'Than'Life Rockers KISS
From: Yahoo News
by Samira Nanda
Imagine four little people dressed in black leather and chains, faces covered in garish black-and-white makeup, wearing wild black wigs, wagging their tongues and rocking on stage to the heavy metal beat of KISS.

That was the dream that led KISS fan Joey Fatale to create Mini-Kiss, a tribute band with a difference.

No matter how well this band plays, they will never fully measure up to the original 1970s rockers because each of them is not much over 4 feet tall.
