More recap of Ace on Howard Stern
From: HowardStern.com
E! Senior Producer Mike Gange worked the camera in the green room today when ACE FREHLEY was in, just to be close to him. Howard said that was very gay because he took over somebody else's job just to see a dude. Gange came in and agreed, but said he only did a 30 second interview with him. Howard said he'd understand if it was a hot chick like Pam Anderson, but a DUDE? Gange said he grew up listening to the band and is a huge fan. Howard said Gange crossed over some gay line today.

Howard admitted that he doesn't know a lot about Ace or KISS, but said he seems like a really nice guy. Chuck Zito came in with him and Howard asked if Ace was scared that Howard might beat him up so he brought Chuck with him as a bodyguard. Ace just laughed and said, "Are you kidding???" Ace and Chuck are in a movie together called Remedy, now on DVD. Ace is not currently touring with KISS but said he has no hard feelings for Gene. He did say they have had their run-ins though. Ace still gets checks because he's one of the original "family" members of KISS. Ace revealed that he didn't want to talk about KISS today, just promote his movie. About 5 minutes into the interview, Gary came in and said Ace's manager wanted him to leave immediately because he didn't want him talking about KISS, so the interview was cut short. Sal the Stockbroker came in, in full Ace make up, to blow some smoke while he had his chance, and then all hell broke loose when Howard went to break.

During the break, Sal started badgering Ace with questions about KISS and asked Ace to take some pictures with him. Ace not only ignored Sal, but in the middle of a sentence, interrupted Sal, handed him his own personal camera and asked him to take a picture of Ace and Howard. When they came back from break, Howard had to explain to Sal that he was being a super fan and sounded like a crazy stalker. Howard told him that he couldn't do that to guests and that it was very unprofessional. Howard asked if Sal gave Ace a CD, which he did, of prank calls he made in high school. Sal said he gave it to him because Ace likes to take CDs of prank calls on the road with him. Howard laid down the law and said he is not to hand ANYTHING to ANYONE without Howard's approval first. Sal got defensive and brought Richard Christy into the conversation saying that Howard never yells at Richard for anything but Sal gets the brunt of everything. Gary came in and told stories of Sal's weirdness, including his criticizing Jon Stewart and asking porn stars to autograph blown up pictures of their genitals. Ronnie came in and said he's told Sal repeatedly not to interact with the guests, and Sal said he doesn't do that anymore, not since the first week he was there. Gary apparently made a face at Sal's response and Sal freaked out and yelled at Gary for making faces behind his back and rolling his eyes saying it happens all the time. Howard said that Gary makes weird faces all the time that freak him out but it's not on purpose. Gary and Howard both said he's paranoid and this stuff just doesn't happen. Everybody tried to convince Sal that they all like him and he doesn't need to be paranoid and consider Richard the favorite son. Richard said that Sal will always argue with him about who came up with ideas first and said that when they sit in the back office and Howard plays a bit that Sal wrote and somebody doesn't laugh, he catches it right away. Sal then called Richard a "serial killer," revealing that apparently nothing was learned from today's lesson.

Ace on Howard Stern Recap
From: KISSAsylum.com
by Andrew Mele
Just heard Ace on Howard, and basically it was a pretty quick interview as Ace's manager cut it short because he didn't want Ace talking about himself or KISS...just the promotion of the new DVD 'Remedy'.

Ace came on (apparently wearing a motorcycle jacket) with Chuck Zito who's also in the film; they plugged it for a moment, and then Howard asked Ace some KISS questions. For one, Ace mentioned that he didn't quit only because he didn't want to be 'opening' for Aerosmith, but for multiple reasons. He also stated that he's still part of the family and simply not touring with the band currently. He doesn't mind someone else in his makeup because he still gets the checks. As Howard kept trying to make him admit that he hated Gene, Ace wouldn't budge and said that him & Gene are friends. Basically around this time was when it was cut short, after Sal (an employee of the show) came in dressed as Ace and bad mouthing the rest of the band. Ace said he was entitled to his opinions. Afterwards, Howard berated Sal for acting like an obsessed fan and making a fool of himself. Gary (Howard's producer) also came on after the fact, explaining that the manager didn't necessarily not want him talking about KISS, but he didn't want them to be talking negatively about KISS.

Did anyone catch 9 year old Angelo Coppola's performance on America's Most Talented Kids? AWESOME!!! Angelo did the KISS Army proud and came in 1st on the PAX Network's show last week playing drums to "Rock and Roll All night!!"

According to his Dad, the response Angelo has gotten from the show has been tremendous. ERIC SINGER has even asked for a copy of his performance! He also has an entire page dedicated to KISS on his website as well as a short video clip of his performance on America's Most Talented Kids: http://angelocoppola.home.comcast.net!

Is GENE SIMMONS the next SpongeBob?
From: CNN.com
by David E. Williams
GENE SIMMONS, the fire-breathing, blood-spitting KISS star, just might be the next SpongeBob, thanks to his latest project: "My Dad the Rock Star."

The show recently started airing in the United States on the cable channel Nickelodeon, alongside animated favorites like "Jimmy Neutron," "Rugrats" and "The Fairly Oddparents."

It's a typical tale of pre-teen rebellion, complete with green hair, tattoos and screams of "turn that music down." Only in this case, dad's the rebel and his son is the one seeking a quiet, normal life.

Union - "Do Your Own Thing Live!" (DVD)
From: Blast Magazine
This first ever DVD release from Union titled, "Do Your Own Thing Live!" as two segments. The first being a fourteen track live concert that was taped on October 21 at Paladino's in Canoga Park, California and The Shack in Fullerton, California. The set list the guys chose included; nine Union songs, two KISS songs, one Mötley Crüe song, one Scream song, plus Bruce's version of the "Star Spangled Banner" by Frances Scott Key. It is fairly obvious that the guys in Union covered all their bases in the decision of the set list. It appeared that the two clubs the band where performing at that night were fairly small. That combined with the way the concert footage was filmed gives you a very personal feeling with the band. Basically, it looked like there where three or maybe four people in the crowd that had over-the-counter camcorders taping. I really liked this effect because you get the view from a fans perspective instead of what a normal film crew would have done. Union was dead on that night musically with only a very few sound problems with the backing vocals. But you know what that's what getting back to basics mean.

The second segment of the DVD consists of the bonus material. For me this is where the DVD is worth the price of $20.00 plus shipping and handling. The bonus material opens with a second concert that was filmed at the Musicians Institute after NAMM. The set list for this performance consisted of the following songs [("Do Your Own Thing,"Love (I Don't Need It Anymore," "Hypnotized," "Jungle," "Old Man Wise," "Heavy D," "Who Do You Think You Are," "Everything's Allright," "Dead", "Power To The Music", "I Walk Alone" (lead vocals by Bruce)]. Because the band performed this after the long day at NAMM you can tell at time the guys are a little fatigued. But do not let that fool you the guys put on one hell of a performance, and this will be one of the few times fans who are not that familiar with John's humor will get to see it. At times, John had me cracking up so bad I sure do not see how the guys in the band could keep a straight face. Especially the comment about the magazines making sure they get his name spelled right when they write a bad review. Also included in the bonus features is a very comprehensive photo gallery, a behind the scenes movie that consists of segments from interviews the band has had from the beginning of Union with interviewers from all around the world, a promotional commercial for the bands' latest release "Blue Room", and a bonus unreleased audio track for the song, "Walking In your Sleep".

You may purchase this DVD at BRUCE KULICK's website for $23.00 total. That is $20.00 plus $3.00 shipping and handling. At that price alone with what you are getting in return is a steal. There is no reason why every concert DVD doesn't have this much information included. "Do Your Own Thing Live!" will make a great addition to any BRUCE KULICK or John Carabi fans collection and is an absolute must have for those fans. But even if you not a big fan of the two musicians the DVD is still worth buying.

KISS Fan fired for KISS-Tattoo
From: KISSNews.net
Charly, a 42 year old KISS fan from Frankfurt got fired from the German "Big Brother" house, because he had a Tattoo with the original KISS-logo on his arm. To avoid any protests against nazi-symbols on German TV, the fan got fired from the show yesterday evening!

Here is the official statement from Big Brother (Thanks to Gerhard for translating)... "The Frankfurter candidate Charly left the "Big Brother"-village Thursday evening. Music-fan Charly has a Tattoo on his upper arm, which according to him is just a sign for his favorite band "KISS". This could be misunderstood as a symbol for the radical right scene. To avoid speculations and to make sure to distance from this, RTL II decided, that the candidate should not take part any longer in the show. Jochen Starke from RTL II: "Big Brother is family entertainment. When RTL II believes, that there could be wrong associations made in combination with this show, or that feelings from viewers could be hurt, we have the responsibility as a sender to act".

From Spiegel.de:
Munich TV-sender RTL 2 has learned from the jewish joke-scandal from the last "Big Brother"-shows and takes now more care: a candidate of the new show had to leave the "Big Brother"-village, because his tattoos reminds on nazi-symbols.

Rockin' the Corps — Marines Welcome Home
From: KISSAsylum.com
by Keith Leroux
Just found the post below on www.spiritofamerica.net. KISS is donating their time to salute the troops, and I hope you can join us here at KISSAsylum and donate even a little to the link below to help thank our soldiers who do so much all us everyday!

A nonprofit organization headed by Joe Robert is putting together a great welcome home party at Camp Pendleton on April 1 for Marines now returning from Iraq. This will be a terrific event to thank the Marines (and their families) who have been stationed mainly in Al Anbar province since last summer. These include the Marines that fought in Falluja, those that managed the Iraqi construction apprentice training program where Spirit of America donated tools, those that set up the women’s sewing centers where we provided sewing machines and many others.

The party will feature big-name acts including Destiny’s Child, KISS and Ted Nugent. The Master of Ceremonies is Cedric the Entertainer. The talent is donating their time but there are hard costs for staging and production. Please consider helping out with the costs of the party with a contribution at: https://secure.supportthecorps.org/secure/donatepage.htm. It would be great if all Spirit of America donors could make a $5 or $10 contribution. The numbers of people supporting the effort are as important as the dollars raised.

KISS Army Jeep
From: KISSAsylum.com
by Scott Frost
The Jeep is a 1977 CJ-5, which I built from scrap for a trail machine, but it is street legal. It has a full roll cage, 35 inch mudder tires, a 3- inch body lift, V-8 engine. I use it to go 4-wheelin on trails, some rock climbing, and plowing thru the mud. I airbrushed the hood with the 4 original members. The rest are decals I made on my computer. I have been a fan of KISS since 1974, when my Dad and I marched on a radio station in Michigan to get them to play KISS. (I was 7). I have seen KISS many times, and have seen all of the people that have been in the band perform LIVE while in KISS. My wife of 16 years, Janet, is in the picture, she is a recent recruit into the KISS ARMY, (I finally wore off on her). We have two kids (ages 4 and 2), they are the next generation of the KISS ARMY.

PAUL STANLEY Solo Album - "It's Magic"
From: KISSOnline
PAUL STANLEY checked in with KISSONLINE and chatted briefly about his upcoming solo album.

The album should be done and ready to mix by mid May. Drumming on all the tracks to date is Victor Indruzzo who has toured and recorded with Macy Gray, toured with Beck and appears on various recordings by the Matrix production team. Most of the guitars have been handled by Corky James who also is heard on various recordings by the Matrix team including Avril Lavigne. In talking about their contributions Paul raved, "Victor is just an amazing drummer who can bash with the best of them while keeping a great groove going." As for James, he added "Corky just blows me away with his parts and sounds." As far as bass..."I've always been a big fan of BRUCE KULICK's bass playing so it's great to have him on some of the album." Keyboards have been handled by Russ Irwin who has toured with both Sting and Aerosmith. "I've known Russ for over 15 years before the KISS/Aerosmith tour happened and his being a part of the project seemed like a natural".Of course all the vocals are handled by Paul. A few of the tracks recorded include "Wake Up Screaming," "Second To None" and "Live To Win."

Paul has been collaborating with Andreas Carlsson and for the first time in 15 or so years, Desmond Child and said, "It's magic." Paul went on to add, "From the songs to the playing and singing, everything about this album is consistent without compromise. The album is exactly who I am now and what I want to be doing. It's got all the sides of what I do, so it's not surprising that it's got elements of everything I've done plus a leap into the 21st century. I don't need to hype it. I'll leave that to everyone else who's heard it."

ESP, featuring ERIC SINGER (KISS) , BRUCE KULICK (Grand Funk Railroad), John Corabi (Scream, Motley Crue) & Chuck Garric (Alice Cooper/DIO), will perform 6 European shows beginning in late April. Looks like these are the only 6 shows ESP will perform at this time. Original plans called for a more extended mini tour but had to be scrapped to accommodate Bruce's commitments to Grand Funk.

We will post some of the setlist for the upcoming shows after the band has rehearsed a few times.

In other ESP news I am working with Eric on repackaging the ESP debut CD for re-release. The CD will be re-issued as The ERIC SINGER Project and will include all available tracks and demos that the band recorded back in 1998. Look for a summer release.

Gene to appear on The Apprentice
From: NBC
KISS bassist/vocalist GENE SIMMONS is among the ten of the "biggest names" in the rock and rap music industry who will join Donald Trump and the remaining 10 candidates during NBC's star-studded "Apprentice" (March 10, 9-10pm ET).

Candidates join forces with music television network Fuse as they petition these 10 celebrities to donate a "personal experience" that will be auctioned off live on Fuse's popular "Daily Download" program. After enlisting each of the music artists for a donation, "Magna" and "Net Worth" select team members to pitch the auction items live on television. The team that brings in the most money will be declared the winner and the proceeds benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

The blending of the corporate and rock worlds spark some truly hilarious moments as candidates struggle to "vibe" with the artists and to speak their "language." One of the women encounters an overly flirtatious rocker and one of the men's sexist comments offends the women on his team.

Q & A with TOMMY THAYER
From: TommyThayer.com
by TOMMY THAYER
Question #1: If you were to have a choice for listening to one of the following, what would it be: techno, hip-hop, latino style? — Armida Gil, Laredo, Texas

ANSWER:The great thing about music is that there's so much different stuff out there. I like to listen to literally everything, as long as it touches the right nerve. Hip-hop is cool; the thing I like about rappers is their attitude and edginess (and) great beats that the ladies like to dance to.

Question #2: Have you had any weird experiences with female fans that you can share? Stalkers? Women fainting when they meet you? Shaking uncontrollably? — Armida Gil, Laredo, Texas

ANSWER: I can only say that I've met some amazing female fans along the way, maybe a little shaking goin' on here and there. Most all fans are cool, considerate and make me proud to be with them.

Question #3: If you were considering to produce a new band, what would you look for in that band? — Armida Gil, Laredo, Texas

ANSWER: Star appeal above and beyond. These days you need to have it all; great songs, a look, a great voice or instrumentalist but most importantly, tons of charisma and the ability to capture a crowd from the stage...

Cover To Cover Cover Art
From: TributeAlbums.com
After a whirlwind of response to last months announcement of KISS Cover to Cover , Lunar Moth Entertainment and TributeAlbums.com have unveiled it's official cover art! With a number of visual references to the band of larger than life rockers to which it tips its hat, the cover art is as much of a tribute to KISS as the album itself.

At TributeAlbums.com , we believe that presentation is everything. With that, a unique CD deserves a unique album cover. The concept for the artwork is centered around four topics: 1) a spoof of the 1981 album cover of the KISS album "Music from the Elder" 2) a play on the phrase "cover to cover" (having read a book all the way through) 3) images symbolizing the four characters of KISS 4) and a fitting Halloween color scheme.

KISS Cover to Cover features songs that KISS deemed worthy enough to cover of their decades long career. In addition to the musical content, the CD is enhanced with bonus features including song histories, band info, and more! KISS Cover to Cover will be released on April 5, 2005 at www.TributeAlbums.com . Pre-order your copy now, and receive PROPHECY-A Tribute to ERIC CARR FREE with your order!

Indy Expo Recap
From: KISSAsylum.com
by Keith Leroux
Huge thanks to all of the KISS fans that made the 2005 INDY KISS Expo a huge success!! Final numbers are in and over 1000 fans attended the Expo last weekend. The only sour note of the entire event was that we actually sold out Saturday and we had to turn fans away. Not wanting to disappoint any of his fans, ERIC SINGER agreed to change his plans (he was suppose to attend the Lakers/Pacers game in LA Sunday night) and stay for the Sunday Expo to accommodate any fan that was unable to get in Saturday. Thanks Eric!

I also want to thank my friends John Corabi (for loading the van!), Stefan Adika (Master of Ceremonies), Eric Dover, (what can I possibly say?), BRUCE KULICK (for making your flights), all the members and wives/girlfriends of MR. SPEED, Russ, Philly, Rich, Mike Brandvold, Mike & Charlotte $, Phil ($'s pal), Jim Breeding, Rich Gagnon, Kristin, Kim, Jill & Doug Cataldo, Rick & Tina, Missy, Lisa, Justin Leroux, Bill Starkey, Tom Shannon, Peter Arquette, Brian & Shelly Streeter, Ken Rodenas, Barry & Family, Allen & Karen, Warren Lapine, Dale McKenzie, Ted, Tako, Tama, Kumiko, Keith, Michael Edwards, Ace Cosby, The Goddess of Thunder, Dan Foley, Smith Sound, all the dealers, the entire Staff of the Holiday Inn East, my buddy Steve Stierwalt & his wife Michelle and of course my beautiful wife, Michelle, who not only puts up with all of this, but actually does quite a bit of the work too!! - I hope all of you guys know how much help you are and without your support there would be no INDY KISS Expo!!

We will have photos and a full report later in the week after we get caught up!!

Original KISS drummer PETER CRISS has been quite a busy "cat" since parting ways with the group after its highly successful co-headlining tour with Aerosmith in 2003. Currently hard at work at his own recording studio, Criss is laying down tracks for an as-yet-untitled solo album.

"I started writing this stuff a couple of years back, actually," Criss tells Billboard.com. "I was procrastinating, that's the big thing with me. So I buckled down, we started building this studio, it's here, and we've been working on it. It's exciting — I've got a whole bunch of new material. It's going to be really good."

Criss is best known for singing KISS' more tender material ("Beth," "Hard Luck Woman"), and the upcoming album appears to be cut from the same musical cloth. "It's kind of like a ballad album," he says, "but that doesn't mean it's Frank Sinatra meets Nat King Cole. It's kind of like maybe Led Zeppelin meets Nat King Cole. It's like 'Rubber Soul' — the Beatles are a big influence to me. There's some of Clapton, some of Hendrix."

KISS Magazine Issue 3 Dedicated to Dimebag Darrell
From: Blabbermouth.net
KISS have dedicated the third issue of their official authorized quarterly magazine to the memory of PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, who was gunned down by a deranged "fan" in early December. A short note from KISS guitarist/vocalist PAUL STANLEY posted on the magazine's "Table of Contents" page reads as follows:

"You only had to hear Dime play to know his conviction and commitment to pursuing his passion without compromise. You only had to see his stance onstage, guitar in hand, hair flying, to know that he was the blueprint that all others who wanted to share his domain would have to follow. He did it his way. As always, when those who are truly weak seek to use force to destroy what they do not agree with, that which they try to silence becomes even louder, deafening the non-believers and blasting its way into immortality. Cheating one madman and death, Dime will live larger and louder th an ever."

KISS are "heros"
From: KISSAsylum.com
Today KISS filmed an appearance on the Ellen Show. The episode will air on Tuesday. Check your local TV listings. Ellen gave nine-year old cancer survivor DAVID DINGMAN-GROVER the surprise of his life - a meeting with his idols, KISS. Gene, Paul, Tommy and Eric appeared in full costume and makeup! The nine-year-old boy from Sterling who nicknamed his brain tumor "Frank" will celebrate his tenth birthday Tuesday. He's appearing as part of Ellen's "Who's Your Hero?" series.

Dingman-Grover had most of his tumor removed earlier this month at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and the family later learned that the boy is now cancer-free. David was diagnosed in 2003 with a grapefruit-sized malignant brain tumor, which was causing blindness and headaches. He nicknamed it "Frank" after Frankenstein, who scared him until he dressed up as the monster for Halloween.

Below is a story about David's battle with cancer:

David's cancer is gone

Bryn Grover, Tiffini Dingman-Grover and David Dingman-Grover, of Sterling, made no attempt to curb their joy when Dr. Hrayr Shahinian announced Feb. 15 that David is cancer-free.

The announcement was made at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel in Washington, D.C. Shahinian is a surgeon with the Skull Base Institute in Los Angeles. David, who will be 10 on March 1, had been diagnosed with cancer in May 2003. Many doctors declared the tumor, named Frank by those working to save David's life, inoperable. The tumor, an embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, was located at the base of his skull and affected his optic nerve and carotid artery.

Chemo and radiation reduced the size of the tumor, but the doctors needed a biopsy.
