Foo Fighter
From: GeneSimmons.com

I thought you might like to post this pic of David Grohl of the Foo Fighters from the contents of this month's Rolling Stone magazine.

Rolling Stone may not like to run stories on KISS, but thanks to artists like Grohl, they can't avoid their influence!

It's a KISS world, and we only live in it.........

KISS 1976 Empire State Poster Reprint.

The most famous KISS poster of all time is arguably the image of KISS straddling the edge of New York City's Empire State building. Photographer Barry Levine captured the band with apparently nothing between them and the ground, nearly a quarter-mile below. The secret behind the shot, though, is that the band was posed one floor above the observation deck on a four foot wide walkway — giving the illusion of hanging off the edge but with a deck just one story down; still a nasty, but not catastrophic, fall.

With the poster being in hot demand from diehard fans an official reprint has just been released, much to the delight of collectors worldwide. There are a few minor differences to note: the silver-gray logo of the original print, (top), has been replaced by a bolder red version, (bottom). The new poster is also borderless, with the image running all the way to the edge of the paper.

And that's not all—other recent official poster releases include an airbrushed image of the Dressed to Kill album and a five-foot tall KISS Door poster.

Pearl Jam's Mike McCready answering question from fan
From: USA TODAY

Who do YOU feel is the greatest American rock band of all time?Chris Lemanski, New Britain, CT

I think everyone in the band would answer this question pretty differently. But KISS inspired me personally to pick up a guitar and go for it. My life would have been different without PAUL STANLEY or ACE FREHLEY. They would have to be the greatest on my list as an influence to my life at 11 years old.

Americans can't get enough of Celebrities
From: Chicago Tribune
by Phil Rosenthal
There's no business like show business, and way too much news like it, if you believe what people in show business tell you.

"It's commercial media, they're chasing an audience — so are newspapers," said GENE SIMMONS, leader of the rock band KISS. "But there should be an hour or two hours sometime during the day where it's only news and no entertainment and, if Bruce Springsteen turns gay, it shouldn't be the top news of the hour."

Rock School
From: Kansas City Star
GENE SIMMONS, the lead singer of rock group KISS, has turned into a cable TV impresario, concocting male beauty pageants for Oxygen ("Mr. Romance"), creating a cartoon show for Nickelodeon ("My Dad the Rock Star") and planning the launch of a channel he calls NGTV (No Good Television) this fall.

He came here to promote "Rock School" (Aug. 19, VH1), a reality show in which Simmons takes a job as a teacher at a classical music school and gets the students to start a rock band.

Simmons made it clear that his show was not to be confused with "School of Rock," the movie in which Jack Black took a job as a teacher at a prep school and got the students to start a rock band. "School of Rock" is set in the United States, while "Rock School" was taped in England. Jack Black is an actor who played a teacher for a few weeks, while Simmons is an entertainer who played a teacher for a few weeks. See? Completely different.

Question #1 What is your favorite fast food restaurant? What is your favorite candy? — Nick Manning, Glendale, California

ANSWER: I've been straying away from fast food as much as possible anymore, but when the temptation arises it's usually In N Out Burgers. Candy selection would be dark chocolate, preferably Dove.

Question #2 Which of the current KISS Tribute bands are the best? Are there individual members from different acts that you think stand out more than others? — Amy Sanchez, Austin, Texas

PAUL STANLEY Update: UPCOMING SOLO TOUR
From: KISSAsylum.com
KISS frontman PAUL STANLEY recently announced that he's planning a solo tour in support of his upcoming solo album. Stanley will also have exhibitions of his paintings throughout the USA soon. In April of this year, the first-ever public exhibition of his art took place on Maui, Hawaii.

As previously reported, drumming on Stanley's upcoming solo CD was handled by Victor Indruzzo, who has toured and recorded with MACY GRAY, toured with BECK and appears on various recordings by the Matrix production team. Most of the guitars have been handled by Corky James, who also is heard on various recordings by the Matrix team, including AVRIL LAVIGNE. In talking about their contributions Paul raved, "Victor is just an amazing drummer who can bash with the best of them while keeping a great groove going." As for James, Stanley added, "Corky just blows me away with his parts and sounds." As far as bass..."I've always been a big fan of BRUCE KULICK's bass playing so it's great to have him on some of the album." Keyboards have been handled by Russ Irwin who has toured with both STING and AEROSMITH. "I've known Russ for over 15 years before the KISS/AEROSMITH tour happened and his being a part of the project seemed like a natural". Of course all the vocals are handled by Paul. A few of the tracks recorded include "Wake Up Screaming", "Second To None" and "Live To Win".

Paul has been collaborating with Swedish songwriter Andreas Carlsson (BON JOVI, DEF LEPPARD), and for the first time in 15 or so years, Desmond Child (BON JOVI, AEROSMITH). "It's magic," Stanley said of the collaboration. Paul went on to add, "From the songs to the playing and singing, everything about this album is consistent without compromise. The album is exactly who I am now and what I want to be doing. It's got all the sides of what I do, so it's not surprising that it's got elements of everything I've done plus a leap into the 21st century. I don't need to hype it. I'll leave that to everyone else who's heard it."

Simmons' Rock School
From: Seattle Post-Intelligencer

This should do wonders for our relationship with the British. VH1 sent tongue-wagging GENE SIMMONS over to Christ's Hospital Boarding School in Horsham. There, the KISS icon entered a classroom — "MY NAME! Is Mr. Simmons. ROCK! is about grabbing everybody's attention" — and proceeded to teach young classical music prodigies how to get the Led out.

Not as easy as you might think. The goal is to become good enough to open for Motorhead. The show is "GENE SIMMONS' Rock School," coming Aug. 19. And the kids' rigorous classical training doesn't mean a thing to him.

Spoke to ACE FREHLEY Friday. Doing great and the same deal, when he has stuff to talk about musically he will be back on the show. For now he's just laying low. He did play on a track however on an upcoming CD by Kathy Valentine the bassist from the Go Go's. That's out in September. He also told me he's working in his home studio on music for soundtracks and possibly an album at some point. NO time table at all for an album or tour at this time. Told you guys I'd give you news when I had it, so there you go.

Click To Enlarge GENE SIMMONS Goes Back To School
From: Yahoo News
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- GENE SIMMONS invades England to teach a bunch of prim and proper boarding school students how to rock in the new VH1 series, "GENE SIMMONS' Rock School," premiering Friday, August 19 at 11PM.* The infamous "Demon" of KISS faces a monumental task: turning a group of classical music mini-scholars into a killer rock band.

Music recording artist GENE SIMMONS (pictured, R) from the band KISS gives the high five to Rodney Vubya (L), general manager of the rock band put together by Simmons, on the VH1 TV show 'Rock School', at the Television Critic's Association Summer press tour at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills July 14, 2005.

"GENE SIMMONS' Rock School" has Master Simmons setting up court at one of the UK's top independent boarding schools, Christ's Hospital in West Sussex, south of London. The children who attend the 450-year-old school wear Tudor uniforms, march into the lunch hall accompanied by full brass band and know nothing about rock music. So, in just six weeks Gene must transform a class of classically trained 13-year-old musicians into little rock gods.

Happy Birthday Eric
From: Alan Henderson
Late KISS drummer ERIC CARR is among the 10 best drummers in the world, according to some 3,500 music lovers who participated in Radio poll in order to vote for their fantasy super group - made up of any musician from any band. There are 4 categories: Best singer, Best guitarist, Best bassist and Best drummer. The four members of Led Zeppelin turned out to be the ultimate super group, as they're leading all categories. Apart from ERIC CARR, there are no KISS members in any of these categories. Most musicians/bands voted for are from the UK, undoubtedly having to do with the fact that Planet Rock Radio is based n the UK. Several websites have listed the four Top 10's, including the BBC News site.
Best drummer

10. ERIC CARR (KISS)
09. Dave Grohl (Nirvana)
08. Roger Taylor (Queen)
07. Ian Paice (Deep Purple)
06. Ginger Baker (Cream)
05. Phil Collins (Genesis)
04. Cozy Powell (Black Sabbath, Rainbow)
03. Keith Moon (The Who)
02. Neil Peart (Rush)
01. John Bonham (Led Zeppelin)

I Definitely Don't Want To Be A Rockstar
From: News Telegragh
by Julie Henry
On stage he is a rock'n'roll legend, known for his outrageous make-up and bedding more than 4,000 women. But in the classroom of one of England's oldest boarding schools, the KISS frontman GENE SIMMONS was rather a flop.

The arrival of Mr Simmons, the former lead singer of the glamrock band KISS, at the £17,900-a-year Christ's Hospital School, in West Sussex, to film a Channel 4 series entitled Rock School, brought 10 musically gifted teenagers face to face with a star whose trademark tongue displays have helped him to sell 100 million albums and fill stadiums all over America in the 1980s.

In the week after seasoned performers entertained five billion people across the globe in the Live 8 concerts, however, pupils at the school, talking for the first time about their experiences, were unswayed by the promise of a rock'n'roll lifestyle.

Hi fellow KISS fans,

Another great performance from ERIC SINGER & friends. This time is was "MELBOURNE ROCK CITY'S" turn.

The great Melbourne band The Stand started the night off with some of their excellent music. I have to mention that their Melbourne fans got an extra KISS song than us Sydney fans. They played "Shandi" & "Is that you". Awesome performance.

I had the great pleasure of seeing ERIC SINGER and Friends in Melbourne last night and it was awesome. The guys were held up due to flight delays (major fog problems) The Stand open the show with a terrific set that warmed up the crowd. Eric and crew didn't come on till after 11.30 due to the plane problems, but it was well worth the wait. He was so caring and concerned about the crowd waiting around so long on a week night that he got on stage as soon as he arrived and apologized for the delay (like it was his fault that a fog took over the state!) and promised to start the show asap. Sure enough, within minutes the guys were on stage and pounding out a great set pretty much the same set as Sydney. Chuck Garric had a few technical problems with his amp. He made a great joke about feeling like Derrick Small (of Spinal Tap) trying to get back into his pod. He then belted out an amazing version of I Love It Loud which brought the house down. Ryan and Damon were in great form even paying a little homage to our masked heroes with a guitar sway on She.

Eric was fabulous as always and even with all the delays and exhaustion he and the boys hung around to sign anything and everything the fans had till the very last fan was satisfied. What a great night. Eric used a very small setup (stage limitations) but played his heart out. As Ryan said "tomorrow night we'll be playing cause that's what we're paid for (the Alice Cooper show), but tonight we play for love". Here at a local pub with no lighting production, small stage and limited equipment, these legends of rock put on a show from the heart.

Thanks for a night to remember.

...So, ERIC SINGER has come back to our shores once again - albeit with Alice Cooper this time. Even more exciting news was, he and his Alice band mates made a welcome decision to stage their own show!

It was great to see Eric play up close and personal in his own skin (and his blond locks are back, too!). He makes a cute Cat with KISS all right, but it's still a 'borrowed' identity after all...

The main act was capably supported by our own STAND from Melbourne - well known as the backing players for the likes of BRUCE KULICK (KISS) and Mike Tramp (White Lion). They showcased their soon-to-be-released numbers, plus KISS' eighties hit, Is That You, at which the crowd went wild!
