GENE SIMMONS Airs Family Jewels
From: TMZ

Following in the footsteps of the Osbournes, rock legend and wildman GENE SIMMONS of KISS, along with his family, will serve as the latest reality family to hit the small screen.

Gene's family is slightly scandalous in certain parts of the country as, unlike Sharon and Ozzy, he's not married. The show will feature his "unmarried" partner of 20+ years and former Playmate of the Year Shannon Tweed and their two children. Like Ozzy, we'll get to see Gene offstage in his Dad persona doing regular Dad stuff like bringing Gatorade to his daughter's soccer games and cheering on his son's band. And, Gene being Gene, we'll see some intimate moments with Shannon like a discussion over Gene's preference for sex over food.

It'll be interesting to see if the couple discusses Gene's reported cavorting with groupies "fans" over the years. At a recent press conference, Shannon opened up a bit on the subject:

The new issue of Holland’s Veronica TV guide includes a small feature on the KISS Coffeehouse, along with a picture of GENE SIMMONS and PAUL STANLEY taken during the grand opening last month (see image below). In the piece it says that whiskey would fit their image much better, but that they apparantly prefer coffee – which they personally served to the first 5,000 thousand visitors that day. The feature also states that the plan is to open up more KISS Coffeehouses in the USA.

Indy Racing League Seeks a KISS of Marketing Savvy
From: AdAge.com

Don't let the tongue, big ego and rock 'n' roll past fool you. When it comes to making money, GENE SIMMONS is serious. Serious as cancer. And with the advent of Simmons Abramson Marketing, a partnership with former "Pee-Wee's Playhouse" producer Richard Abramson, he thinks he can make money for you, too.

Best known for the KISS bassist persona that catapulted him to international celebrity, GENE SIMMONS is also a businessman with an animated TV series, two TV reality shows, his own record label, two best-selling books and the marketing company Simmons Abramson, which has been working on the Indy Racing League account since last year. That campaign now has a new GENE SIMMONS theme song, 'I am Indy.'

Of course, any marketer looking to hitch its wagon to the Simmons Abramson experience will have to buckle up for the ride. After all, Simmons is the guy who refused to use the preferred acronym for his first client, Indy Racing League, because IRL sounds "corporate and worse" (worse, in this case, being "a disease").

KISS Rock Fuji
From: KISSOnline

KISS just finished rockin' the Fuji Speedway! Tonight's crowd was easily the most intense of the tour and KISS responded to the crowd in a big way, delivering an energenic, powerful set that ended their short Japanese Tour on a high note! Sebastian Bach, the Foo Fighter's Taylor Hawkins as well as members of Alice In Chains and the Click Five were rocking away in the pit during the show.

Paul had a slight mishap tonight when he flew during "I Was Made For Loving' You". First he almost over shot the platform and then was actually stuck on the platform while a crew member worked to get the flying rig to Paul. The band never misseed a beat though and extended the song a little until Paul was back on the main stage. The band also played "Lick It Up" tonight!

Bruck Kulick On Lion's Share CD
From: Blabbermouth

Swedish melodic metal masters LION'S SHARE have uploaded another batch of photos from last week's vocal recording sessions for their new album at www.myspace.com/lionsshare. This time the band went to a house in Falun, Sweden (to be able to work closer to singer Patrik Johansson's home), and set up a mobile studio there. Patrik (also in ASTRAL DOORS) sang on five new songs: "Toxication Rave", "Ring of Stupidity", "Trafficking", "Emotional Coma" and "Temple of Time". This means the vocals now have been recorded for 12 out of the planned 14 songs for the upcoming CD. The demo guitars, bass and drums will be replaced with the actual album takes later this fall/winter. 11 tracks are expected to appear on the CD, with three extra songs set aside to be used as bonus tracks. If everything goes according to plan, the band hope to have the album mixed and ready by January 2007 for a possible May/June release.

As previously reported, former KISS guitarist BRUCE KULICK has already recorded a guest solo for the song "The Edge of the Razor". The new album will be the group's fifth, with the first four having been released by Century Media and Massacre Records between 1995 and 2001. During this period, the band toured heavily with such acts as DIO, MANOWAR, MOTÖRHEAD, SAXON, NEVERMORE, ICED EARTH, U.D.O. etc.

Tommy played a new Silver Gibson Les Paul guitar and Paul played Washburn guitars throughout the show. Gene breathed fire during "Firehouse" and spit blood and flew during "God of Thunder" while Paul flew out to the soundboard area of the arena and sang "I Was Made For Lovin' You" surrounded by a sea of arms in air! The audience was extremely responsive and energetic tonight, singing and clapping throughout the show. KISS fans from all over Japan as well as fans from the US, Australia, Brazil, Sweden, Norway, the UK, Germany and Italy attended the show. Paul sang the Japanese song "Sukiyaki" and told the crowd on several occasions that he loved to see KISS' Japanese friends, fans and family! Deadbeat Dad Goes Free
From: NY Post

The former KISS manager whose $850,000 in unpaid child support and alimony makes him the city's worst deadbeat dad was set free by a Manhattan Family Court judge last night after serving two years jail for nonpayment.

The release of Jesse Hilsen, 66, fueled his ex-wife's fear he'll simply go on the lam again like he did for a decade beginning in 1994.

Back then, he traveled to Europe, Israel and South Africa rather than pay ex-wife Rita, the mother of his three children.

Simmons Allows Peek Inside
KISS musician and girlfriend Shannon Tweed promote memoir and A&E series about family life
From: Akron Beacon Journal

Has KISS rocker GENE SIMMONS finally decided to reveal his warm and cuddly side?

You could argue that, at least for public consumption, Simmons doesn't have one. At a news conference Thursday during the TV critics' press tour, he was still obnoxious, verbally combative and very much the huckster for his various enterprises.

Asked, for example, which KISS song is his favorite, he said, "The one that sells the most is my favorite."

Japan Photo Shoot
From: KISSOnline

Tonight KISS had a photo shoot/interview session for some Japanese Press at the hotel in Nagoya and KISSONLINE was there to cover it for you! The guys were in great spirits and everyone was joking throughout the event, especially KISS manager Doc McGhee who was cracking one liners left and right! In addition to taking photos at the shoot, we also filmed this very funny session and we will add some clips to KOL in the future! The shoot itself only lasted about 20 minutes and when it was done, Eric talked with Doc about going down to the lobby. Doc spoke with the band and everyone agreed to head down to the lobby in full costume and makeup, unannounced! As soon as the elevator opened and KISS entered the lobby, people ran to the band from all directions!

KISS performed an impromptu meet and greet to a stunned crowd. The band shook hands, took photos and held babies! The greatest part of all, was to see the look on peoples faces. No one, including the hotel staff, could believe KISS in full makeup and costume were in the hotel lobby. If that wasn't enough, Paul and Tommy made their way over to the lounge stage and joined the duo entertaining the crowd. Paul took turns singing with the girl singer as Tommy "helped" the guitarist!

KISS delighted the entire lobby and had a great time themselves! If the band's vibe tonight is any indication of what's to come at the shows, everyone is in for a great ride!

Bad enough that their dad wore Demon makeup and spat blood on stage. These kids also had a mom who posed nude and once lived with Hugh Hefner. Still, they seemed remarkably normal and well adjusted at yesterday's session.

From: RealityTVWebsite.com

The A&E Network has released a sneak peek for GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS.

Dad is GENE SIMMONS - the legendary, tongue wagging demon of KISS. Mom is Shannon Tweed -- former Playmate Of The Year, actress and model. And their kids, Nick and Sophie, are, well...surprisingly charming, well-behaved teenagers dealing with the trials and tribulations of adolescence, even though Mom and Dad are like no one else's parents.

Gene and Shannon have been happily UNmarried for 22 years and have no plans of getting married any time soon. Gene is a rock star, and a multi-media magnate. He is also the kind of dad who brings Gatorade to his daughter's soccer games and stands in the front row of his son's rock band when they play gigs.

Gene In Pride Of America Ad
From: KISSOnline

GENE SIMMONS was among the famous foreign-born Americans who were featured in an ad titled "Immigrants: The Pride of America. With the current immigration debate in full swing, the Carnegie Corporation of New York ran an independence week full-page advertisement in The New York Times, which praised immigrants "who have made, and continue to make, our nation strong and vibrant." Gene's photo and 38 others , including Scottish-born industrialist Andrew Carnegie, Albert Einstein, Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, former World Bank chief James Wolfensohn and Henry Kissenger, were included in the ad.

Text of the ad: The United States of America remains the land of immigrants. Andre Carnegie, who founded Carnegie Corporation of New York in 1911, was an immigrant from Scotland. We at Carnegie Corporation salute his legacy, along with the contributions of the millions of other immigrants who have made, and continue to make, our nation strong and vibrant. We are committed to helping immigrants become integrated into the civic fabric of our nation because enlightened citizenship is the everlasting strength of our democracy. Our national motto, E pluribus unum - "out of many, one" - continues to be an ideal we can all aspire to and a true guiding light for our nation.

Rob Zombie Comments on Rock Honors
From: Revue Magazine

Rob Zombie was recently asked by Revue Magazine about his "VH1 Rock Honors" experience: "It was fuckin' awesome. It was great. I mean, I had kind of jammed with some of those people before, like Tommy Lee, obviously — he's played on a bunch of my records, so I knew Tommy, and I had played with Slash one other time, when we both played with Alice Cooper, for a live record in Cabo. But, it was great, there was a moment when we were soundchecking and…all those guys are fantastic, and it was awesome to play with them. But the biggest thrill for me was playing with ACE FREHLEY. Because, thinking back to being a fourth-grader, buying 'Destroyer' and looking at the pictures, and it's just mind-blowing that I'm standing onstage and he's like (in a voice that sounds like he just sucked helium), 'Hey, Rob that sounds pretty good, all right let's play!' And I'm thinkin', 'Holy shit. ACE FREHLEY.' And just hangin' out, like we got off stage and PAUL STANLEY and GENE SIMMONS were there, and they're like, 'Hey, good job. Sounds good.' It's like, 'This is fucking surreal.' Oh it's bizarre. Not even you get to meet them, you get to meet them as you're walking onstage to perform with them. That's the trippy part. Just like, I mean, I've known Alice Cooper for a while, but when we went through Arizona this time he came down to the show, and he stood on the side of the stage while we played. I never get over being thrilled by that"

Q & A With Eric
From: Eric-Singer.com

QUESTION: Hi Mr. Singer, I'm a true fan of your music, based on your body of work you are VERY well respected by your peers as well as fans; I like to think of you as the Jim Keltner of hard rock; hope you take that as a compliment; as Mr. K is phenomenal (in my book) Anyrod, without sounding too "out of touch" what have you got on your plate in terms of studio albums? Is ESP an "ongoing band?" I though it was just a one off thing? And as for Union, have you joined this band? Last I heard they had broke up? I remember reading a few years back that you had a "glitter band" tribute group you started are they defunct now? Sorry to inundate you with questions, I REALLY enjoy ESP & Union, I LOVE your version of "Teenage Nervous Breakdown!" Just wondering about your "status" as I'm guessing KISS is on indefinite hiatus? Ever thought about releasing a live gig on cd under the ESP or Union name? Just hoping.... Well, thanks for the opportunity to ask these "geeky" questions and know that we (your fans) will follow you wherever you go (musically, that sounded way too stalker-esque!)....One last "quickie" I noticed on Mr. Cooper's "Dirty Diamonds" you're in the photo inside but not on the album...why is that?
Be well,
Moose Mattson

ERIC: First of all let me say thank you for the huge compliments ! I am currently on tour w/Alice Cooper and will be going to Japan with KISS at the end of July for 4 shows which I think should be very kool & alot of fun ! ESP is an ongoing "project" or fun band if you will...We do gigs a couple/few times a year when possible or schedules permitting. We did record a "Live" CD in Japan for release later this year & may also release a "live" DVD as well from another show we did in Sydney Australia. Glamnation was the fun Glam band that used to play around the L.A. area in summer of 2000. We did do shows on & off for a few years but everyone has moved on to other things and the band faded out. It was alot of fun during that time I must admit since I got to play songs from such a great era... And in answer to my photo on the Dirty Diamonds CD ? I did the tour and was there when we were rehearsing and the shot was taken....

QUESTION: Hi ERIC!
I appreciate your answers, thank you very much !!! Do you remember your visitation of Czech Republic? How do you like Prague? (you were here in 1998 at KISS convention) Do you remember your first drum set and your first song what you have learned?
PS: Which school did you graduated?
Thank You
Have a good time
Roman

Note From KISS Coffeehouse Owner
From: KISSOnline

Owner of the KISS Coffeehouse, Brian Galvin asked KISSONLINE to post the note below to the KISS ARMY. Brian is a terrific guy and a huge KISS fan who did us all proud with a wonderful Coffeehouse. From the confetti in the floor to the merch, the bathroom and the great boots outside - Brian you did it right as only a KISS fan could!

I want to thank everyone who came out for the Grand Opening of the World’s First KISS Coffeehouse in Myrtle Beach! It was a thrill to meet so many dedicated fans from all over the world. Believe me, I was nervous when I received a call at 5:00pm from the landlord suggesting we cut off the line to meet with PAUL STANLEY & GENE SIMMONS. By then, the line had snaked around the store and back to the parking lot, with hundreds of fans waiting. I told them there was no way we could stop people from lining up. It’s not everyday that Paul & Gene are available together to meet with fans and the line continued to grow into the thousands!

Behind the scenes, we were all concerned that many fans would not make it in to meet with the guys and a no autograph rule was set in place in order to move the line faster. KISS fans should know that Paul & Gene stepped in and changed that once the first fans, the Miller family from Colorodo, walked through the doors. Fans wanted autographs and would get autographs, said Paul & Gene. They continued signing, meeting & greeting (over 40 sharpie pens later!) until the last fan in line was seen. Paul missed his flight and Gene stayed over an hour and a half later than his commitment. Trust me, these guys care about their fans! It was evident in everything they did that night. Seeing firsthand the true joy they got from meeting everyone made me proud to be a KISS fan. These guys are the BEST!

I hope everyone had a great time. It truly was an awesome day in KISSTORY!

Brian

Artwork Presented To Gene And Paul
From: Kevin Bolick

My name is Kevin Bolick and these are caricatures that I presented to Gene and Paul at the KISS Coffeehouse grand opening. Doc McGhee saw me and my family standing outside and let us in to give the drawings to Gene and Paul personally!

They both started to autograph the drawings and were surprised when I told them the artwork was for them. They were both great and Gene commented that he remembered my art from the Kisstory book!

Pretty cool for a guy whose been a KISS fan since 1977 at the age of 5!

New VINNIE VINCENT Guitar
From: Blabbermouth

Ed Roman Guitars has announced plans to offer the official VINNIE VINCENT (ex-KISS) licensed model guitar. Ed Roman Guitars founder Ed Roman commented: "I first met VINNIE VINCENT back in the '70s when he was playing with Felix Cavaliere of the RASCALS. This was long before he got the KISS gig. As I recall, I sold him a 1957 Strat for $400.00. Now you might think that was cheap!!!! Frankly, I was really glad to see it go. Today, of course, it's a very valuable guitar. But I wouldn't pay $400.00 for it today if I wasn't going to sell it."

The Coffee House Review Critics Forgot
From: Colette Shaw

I’ve read hundreds of reviews from the grand opening of the KISS Coffee House in Myrtle Beach, but I was surprised none of the reports mentioned what I considered the hallmark of the new digs. I agree with the masses who gave an A+ to the food, drinks and atmosphere. I loved the multimedia spectacle both inside and outside the café, and I must admit that the chocolate chip cookies tasted so delicious, I almost wept. But, after testing the official KISS coffee blends and drinking two gallons of water in order to stay hydrated during the 11-hour wait to meet GENE SIMMONS and PAUL STANLEY, I had one pressing question: How is the bathroom?

The ladies’ room in the KISS Coffee House is actually a unisex lavatory, identified by the Psycho Circus curtain painted on the door. Inside, a gigantic Creatures of the Night mural covers the wall closest to the toilet. The black light that illuminates the room exaggerates the glow-in-the-dark eyes of the painted band members. That image alone makes a trip to the loo worth the trip, but there’s more! A clear acrylic vanity encloses blood-red neon tube lighting, and the sink is adorned by an artsy silver faucet and water handle. Trés chic!

Most KISS fans I know are thoughtful and classy, but a few miss the mark, if you know what I mean. A few weeks ago, I had to buy a handheld black light to find spots of pee on my carpet when my cat was litter training. The KISS Coffee House followed my lead and predicted that some of the more animalized fans might call out the fire hose, but forget to lick it up when they finished their business. The black light on the ceiling helps an otherwise hard luck woman spot the love gun spray and destroy it before that shock me moment of late discovery. Bravo, KISS Coffee House!
