BRUCE KULICK Interview
From: Brave Words/Bloody Knuckles

BRUCE KULICK recently sat down with BW&BK to talk about his latest collaboration, The ERIC SINGER Project or ESP (for short) with his onetime bandmate in KISS, ERIC SINGER. The band is rounded out by UNION bandmate, John Corabi and Chuck Garric (ALICE COOPER). Together they've just released the Live In Japan CD featuring many classic cuts from KISS, MOTLEY CRUE and Alice Cooper.

Mitch Lafon: You've got both you and John (Corabi) on the CD, so why is this not Union?

BRUCE KULICK: "ESP did a record of all covers back in '99. At the time all of Eric's friends were telling him he should have a project and he was not sure who to use. He had started working with Karl Cochran and Eric realized it wouldn't be bad to do this thing. We had done so much good stuff in that era of KISS that he realized he'd love to work with me, and John would be kind of cool because he 'compliments Bruce well' and so that became the ERIC SINGER Project. In the last couple of years, we've had the opportunity to do some things and it just clicked as a good cover jam band. We're all comfortable with each other and we can do the material that we're known for by the fans. I'll agree that the lines sometimes get blurred between Union and ESP, but the key to Union was covering the first two albums we did if we ever gigged and with ESP - we all want to have fun with the music we represent. There's less pressure with the ERIC SINGER Project because we can do whatever we want, but Union represents something much different and right now I prefer working with Eric and hope to continue to."

My PAUL STANLEY Guitar
From: PaulStanley.com

My name is Angelica Marie and I am 10 years old.

I have been a big KISS fan my whole life! Yesterday I saw in the newspaper that there was a new autographed PAUL STANLEY guitar at Target. I asked my dad if we could get it, and he said YES. I was so excited because it would be such a great guitar to have and I want to learn to play the guitar. Plus it is signed by PAUL STANLEY!

My mom called a bunch of Target stores and they all kept telling her the same thing, they had all the other guitars in the flyer except for Paul's because he was selling out fast. Finally we called one that had the guitar and my dad and I went to get it.

A&E's Ultimate KISS Fan enlisting the KISS Army & Hollywood to Write and Record the Ultimate Tribute Song
From: EddieTrunk.com

Bob Brunson, The Ultimate KISS Fan as seen on A&E/GENE SIMMONS Family Jewels, is launching a fan-based song-writing project and promotion called... "Friends With Painted Faces."

The idea is to have KISS fans everywhere write down and email, in a few lines, what KISS has meant to them over the years. Brunson will use this input to compose and record a tribute song for the band. "This was one of several ideas I'd mentioned to Gene during the taping of Family Jewels, and something I feel is extremely appropriate for a band that has meant so much to its fans for such a long time now, including me!" said Brunson.

In addition, Brunson is actively seeking/soliciting several well-known Hollywood producers to help with the arrangement and production of the song. "Given where KISS is in its career, as well as Gene's promotional savvy, I want to really maximize the visibility and credibility of the project, positioning it for inclusion in Family Jewels Season 2, and/or Gene's forthcoming Box Set/Greatest Hits!" said Brunson.

Unauthorized PAUL STANLEY Figure
From: Floyd

I thought that I would bring this to everyone's attention, it is an action figure being sold by Dollar General stores across the USA. The "Wrestling Figure" - as it is called - looks way too much like the Starchild PAUL STANLEY. It has the same long hair, white face, and the star on the same side of his face, just like Paul's KISS make-up! Also the outfit makes it look like PAUL STANLEY even more.

The figure is one of the "Wrestling Figures" set sold by Dollar General and distributed by DOLGENCORP, INC. 100 Mission Ridge Goodlettsville, TN 37072-2170. They sell for $1 and were made in China. About 1 in 12 of the figures collection are in the likeness of Mr. PAUL STANLEY in full KISS make-up.

We all know there was The Demon wrestler, but when was there a Starchild one?

Portland Show Fan Review
From: PAUL STANLEY.com

There are millions of people that can say they have seen KISS live. It truly is an unforgettable experience. The bombs, the fire, the blood, the pyro, and of course the makeup all deliver a show that no other band can truly provide. Seeing KISS with 25,000 other people is always a blast. You can count on running into people you haven't seen in years and revisiting old memories while creating new ones. I've seen KISS live a lot of times myself. Dating back to the Dynasty era, I've attended shows in different states all across the United States. In 1989 I watched PAUL STANLEY play some gigs at small clubs and it was unlike any KISS show I ever saw. It was stripped down, and all that was left was the music -- the reason I started loving KISS in the first place. There was an energy in these club gigs that showed Paul had something to prove. He performed KISS classics but mixed in solo tunes from his 1978 effort as well as a Led Zeppelin cover tune (Communication Breakdown) and a then-unreleased gem that would wind up on the 1990 KISS release, Hot in the Shade (Hide Your Heart). After that small tour ended there was speculation that Paul was planning a second solo effort, but it was just a rumor. Some 18 years, a slew of KISS records and a reunion tour or three later, Paul finally put out a second solo effort – Live to Win.

After 18 years, I've changed a lot too, I have two kids and a second wife, and we're one happy KISS-loving family. I remember the thrill of seeing KISS live for the first time and wanted to pass that onto my kids. It was also an important evening for my wife who has seen KISS on numerous occasions, and is among the most avid of fans, but missed Paul's fist solo tour because she was a mere 14-years young. We took in the Chicago show of the Rock the Nation tour and it was awesome -- but no offense to anyone, it wasn't the same as seeing the original band. I knew that if Paul was going to tour for his solo CD, that would be the show to take my kids to. It simply doesn't get any better than seeing Paul in a small venue playing to 600-3000 people. Besides the energy level that Paul always brings to the show, he almost personalizes it for you. He talks directly to the crowd -- instead of trying to address 20,000 screaming fans, he caters to each one in attendance. You can get as close as you like to the stage, and you don't have to fight off 20,000 other people to get a guitar pick or a good seat. Of course the fact that he brings out a couple of tunes like "A Million to One" or "Magic Touch" that he's never played live certainly doesn't hurt either.

I took in two shows on the tour, Chicago and Portland. On both dates, Paul was simply the man. He was a bundle of energy and just nailed each and every song, both old and new. The Chicago House of Blues show was sensational and it was filmed for a potential DVD release. It was a flawless performance and would be the perfect way to show fans that Paul is without a doubt the driving force behind the music of KISS.

Sammy Bubley is a sophomore at Hemet High School. He likes rock and roll music and has a group of friends that share his love of rock band KISS.

Five of the teens met band member GENE SIMMONS last month in Riverside. About 3,000 people swarmed the Gottschalks fragrance counter at Riverside Plaza when Simmons made an in-store appearance promoting his new men's cologne.

Rosie Bubley, Sammy's mother, drove five of the teens to Riverside and said she was impressed with the attention that Simmons paid them.

KISS And Tell
From: National Ledger

KISS's ever-colorful front man, GENE SIMMONS, shows his serious and, yes, sentimental side while recalling his first meeting with Dick Clark. "When KISS first started we came out to Hollywood for our very first time. We appeared on 'In Concert,' Dick Clark's concert show on ABC. We were green, we knew no one, all we had was ourselves -- all for one, one for all, us against the world," states Simmons, who is among the many rockers sharing memories of Clark in preparation for his big memorabilia auction to benefit the T.J. Martell Foundation. Gene appears on tomorrow's (11/25) "Dick Clark Auction Preview" on VOOM's Treasure HD, the new high-definition network dedicated to collectors, which will also show much of the two-day auction next month.

"Right before we were to go on, Clark came into our dressing room," continues Simmons. "He put his arm around our shoulders and said, 'Anything you want, just ask me.' He was kind enough to us in the beginning when no one else gave a squat. Dick Clark was, is, and continues to be a gentleman of the highest order."

How About A Little KISS?

Ask any KISS fanatic, and they'll give it to you straight. KISS isn't just a rock band, it's a phenomenon.

About 1,200 diehard fans stood in line for hours Nov. 4 to meet the super group's front man, PAUL STANLEY, who made an appearance at the Parisian department store in Rochester Hills.

Cameras clicked and fans howled as the Starchild casually rode down the escalator to greet the enthusiastic crowd. The rocker was in town to promote the latest in KISS merchandise, a cologne packaged in "his" and "hers" scents.

BRUCE KULICK Update
From: Kulick.net

Happy Thanksgiving!

Got lots to tell you all so let me start with of course KISS news. I was at Best Buy last night to pick up the new ALIVE four CD set. Great packaging quotes, and I have been told the new mastering really brings out ALIVE III like never before. So check that one out. Of course KISSOLOGY is burning up the DVD shelves in the stores, and I am looking forward to the next two that are going to be released next year.

With great anticipation I finally got to see the PAUL STANLEY show. He was amazing at the House of Blues here in LA. What a great night I had, and I sat with GENE SIMMONS and the lovely Shannon Tweed. He grabbed me at said, "SIT DOWN"! Not one to argue with the God of Thunder as he had the best table in the house. We chatted about how good Paul sounded and looked and other than a fan who had too much to drink breathing too close to Gene, we ate cookies (warm ones at that!) and shared hellos with all the other KISS guests floating around the rail at the HOB.

Paul Makes Fan's Night
From: PaulStanley.com

PAUL STANLEY blew the roof off of the Hollywood House of Blues Tuesday night!! He rocked, he looked and sounded great!!! But what amazed me more was his compassion for Tony, the fan who I gave my extra ticket to. Tony has CP (cerebral palsy) or as he says "I have it, it doesn't have me." I met Tony at the HOB in Hollywood as he took the bus there. We talked about KISS and Tony gave me a CD his friend Dave did using Tony as the theme for the CD. We talked and then headed over to the line outside the HOB. All of a sudden, we hear "Got to Choose" coming out the doors. Like the shop owner who gives the kids the key to the candy store, the security guards opened the doors and let about 30 of us in to watch Paul's soundcheck. When we got in everyone rushed the stage, but I had to patiently wait for Tony to catch up. When he did, Paul immediately acknowledged him and came over and threw a pick motioning to me to make sure Tony got it... we heard "Live to Win" and finally "Love Gun." Paul was in great spirits joking with us about the "Elder" album and was in a great mood. I also got a guitar pick and Tony also got a signed "Live to Win" CD (promotional copy).

After the soundcheck, we then were able to do the meet and greet. Again, it took Tony some time to get in line and when he did, he met Paul again. Paul shook his hand and mine. Paul took a pic with Tony but it didn't come out because it was too dark. So, Paul then moved us over to where the light was moving a table out of the way and then took this picture with Tony.

After Tony's pic I thought I would get mine, but Paul apologized and said that the meet and greet was over. So, I realized that it didn't matter because after he just took care of Tony, what more did he have to do... he showed such compassion with Tony. He then asked Tony if he had proper seating for the show and if HOB had taken care of his special needs. I was just amazed at how Paul took the time to make Tony feel so special....

Best Buy Bonus Tracks
From: KISSOnline

KISS Fans are the greatest! Not 15 minutes after the KISS ALIVE!!! 1975-2000 CD Set went on sale this morning, we started receiving fan emails informing us that the Best Buy store version did not contain the advertised bonus tracks "2000 Man" and "God of Thunder." Thank you for bringing this to our attention so quickly.

Though not directly involved with Universal's Best Buy store promotion, Paul and Gene were made aware of the bonus track problem and have chosen to help rectify the situation for the fans. Several solutions are currently being discussed by Universal Music and we expect to post more information in the next day or two.

Bottom line - Paul and Gene appreciate your support and any fan who bought the CD at Best Buy expecting these two tracks will receive them.

KISS Fans Upset Nationwide Over Missing Tracks
From: KISS Asylum

KISS Asylum has received dozens of emails from KISS fans all over the country stating their confusion, anger and sadness over the missing two bonus tracks that were suppose to be on the Best Buy store's version of the Alive! Box Set, released today.

"I have just purchased the new ALIVE Box Set on my lunch break and the 2 Best Buy exclusive songs are NOWHERE to be found! The sticker says they should be there", says Eddie from Boardman Ohio.

Having even worse luck, James from Cincinnati writes, "Just got the new Alive! Box Set at Best Buy in Cincy and it's missing the Alive II disc!! What's more, it's advertised to contain 2 extra tracks - 2000 Man, and God of Thunder and they're not there either!"

The exact same problems have been reported in New Hampshire, Austin Texas, Youngstown Ohio and Portland Maine, to name a few. Although this is a big disappointment for many, remember the mistake is unintentional and you should simply return your merchandise where you bought it. KISS Asylum will research this problem and do a follow-up post with what we find. Hopefully there will be a way to exchange for the proper discs.

Has anyone purchased a copy of the Alive! Box set that DOES include the bonus tracks? If so, please let us know the city and state it was purchased.

Message From Paul
From: PaulStanley.com

Having just finished my first shows since 1989, I have to say I was blown away! We sounded even better than I had hoped and your reactions seemed to say you all felt the same. Thank you.

Sasha, Jimmy, Paul, Haffa and Nate were really incredible both off and onstage. The road crew's pride in being a part of this was written all over them and I was proud and lucky to have them with me. They too were an inspiration.

These shows reconnected for me the incredible intensity that can be created by loving what you do and giving it your all. I remember as a kid, I would go to concerts in NY and see Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Humble Pie, Led Zeppelin and countless other bands play small theaters and blow the place apart. Not with pyro or special effects, but with sheer energy, belief in their music and a determination to reach the audience and take them to a place that only they could. THAT's why I loved concerts and that's why I wanted to follow in their footsteps. This short tour and you in the audience confirmed my belief that we could also go there. We did and we will again.

As far as live shows, we are lining up shows outside of the US. and I hope to do many more here also.

So...

Goodbye is only for now
'Cause I'm coming back
I swear it somehow.

Paul

Fillmore Fan Review
From: PaulStanley.com

PAUL STANLEY, The Fillmore
San Francisco, CA
November 13, 2006

I started to write this review by running down the set list and talking about each song, but then started to think about what was really important to me as fan. With the internet we all know what the set list was going to be before arriving. So what is important? How much fun it was and how Paul made me feel. The rock and roll experience. Music and rock and roll is about the feelings in your gut, your soul, and your heart. It's not about technical perfection; it's not about looking for mistakes. It's about raising your fist when you are 42 and going YEAHHHHH!

I was lucky to be able to see Paul on his first solo tour back in 1989. I was living in Chicago at the time. When I heard he was touring I had to go. The nearest show was in Detroit, so it was a road trip. I was in awe at that show, basically third row in a club watching PAUL STANLEY perform a show he wanted to perform, they way he wanted to perform it. Fast forward to 2006. When I got word that Paul was definitely touring to support his second solo album 'Live To Win' I knew I had to go. This time I didn't have to travel very far, maybe 20 minutes from my home to the legendary Fillmore.

PAUL STANLEY: The Star-Child Shines On Chicago's House of Blues
From: PaulStanley.com

This past Monday night at the House of Blues if you'd momentarily forgotten where you were, you might guess - based on the patrons - that you were at a KISS concert. You'd see an array of KISS t-shirts spanning three decades, the occasional fan in full face-makeup dressed as one of the band's trademarked personas, and here and there someone carrying around the remnants of a black shiny guitar, once whole, and what would be instantly recognized by any KISS fan as one of the guitars PAUL STANLEY, KISS co-founder, had demolished at the end of one of hundreds of KISS concerts.

But for this show we weren't in a venue that could accommodate a small country. There wouldn't be any fireworks, confetti, or flames. Tonight we belong to ...PAUL STANLEY, and each member of his sardine-packed audience wouldn't have it any other way.

New York rockers, Slunt, opened for Stanley. A four-piece group with 50% being of the attractive, female persuasion, and tough show-men/women to boot, how could Slunt's performance not be a sexy display of rock and roll glitz?

PAUL STANLEY Featured On New Paul McCartney DVD
From: KISSKollector.com

A&E just released a new Paul McCartney DVD, titled The Space Within Us, which features PAUL STANLEY as one of the celebrities that are part of the footage (which also includes Bill Clinton, Eddie Vedder and Cameron Crowe). The feature-length concert film shows Paul and his wife Erin rockin’ out in the audience at one of the former Beatle’s 2005 concerts, and Paul is also part of a few short comments in between songs (the KISS frontman is also mentioned in the credits). Says Paul on the importance of Paul McCartney: "Most people who get admired these days - what's there to admire about an athlete? You don't have a clue what this person is about. McCartney, by contrast, is the voice of more than one generation. I'm a big fan. Who isn't? In my mind, there's Paul McCartney and there's everybody else. For me to be able to sing his praises? I'm there in a heartbeat…"

TOMMY THAYER - New Q&A Session Available
From: TommyThayer.com

The following is KISS guitarist TOMMY THAYER's latest Q&A session:

Q: Gene stated in his book KISS & Makeup that there was no real place in the current market for a new KISS album and that it would take an "earth shattering event" to get back into the studio. That was in 2001, do you feel that this is still the case, and/or has there ever been discussions about the possibility of a new KISS album in recent years?

A: "As far as I know, there has not been any discussion of making a new KISS studio record. It's a very good question and I've personally got tons of e-mails like yours asking the same question. I hope it happens sometime!"

Upstairs, we hung with BRUCE KULICK, his brother Bob, TOMMY THAYER and his Amber, former KISS producer MICHAEL JAMES JACKSON, who worked on CREATURES, KILLERS and LICK IT UP, JOHNNY 5 (Manson's guitarist) and lots of well wishers.

Mrs. Erin Stanley and good lookin' Evan (Paul's son) were right there rockin' to the action.

Live To Win Tour Ends In Vegas

Paul ended his LIVE TO WIN Tour in Las Vegas last night with a blistering set at the Palms Casino. As with previous shows, Paul laughed and joked with the crowd, thoroughly enjoying himself. He is obviously proud of the way he and his backing band sound and on several occasions told the crowd just that. The audience did their part to let Paul know they agreed, singing along from the opening of "LIVE TO WIN" to the end of "Goodbye".

Recap Of Chris Jericho's XM Radio Show
From: pwinsider.com

1. Starts the show at 8:01PM with 2 PAUL STANLEY songs: "Live To Win" & "Lift".

2.Y2J says that should be the motto for every single Rock Of Jericholic listening tonight, says welcome to The Rock Of Jericho on XM 41 Da Boneyard. He says he's Chris Jericho & says "Live To Win" is a perfect motto to use in our lives courtesy of 1 of the greatest rock & roll singers of all time PAUL STANLEY. He says "Live To Win" is the title track & the 2nd track which's the 1-2 punch from the new record "Live To Win", says it's Paul's 1st solo record since '78 & asks as to why Paul decided to release another record after all that time.

Y2J feels that Paul made a perfect point for the fact that KISS can probably never release another record again, says the lineup's not there anymore & it's half KISS with Gene [Simmons], Paul, TOMMY THAYER & ERIC SINGER... He says not to mention that what KISS does people don't want to hear new material from them, says they're 1 of those bands that can write the greatest record ever, but people might not wanna hear it. He says then again Iron Maiden's done it & Paul McCartney's done it with his last record, says there's some great tunes left in lots of these bands & feels that if Paul & Gene can put their egos aside, write a kickass record & get back with Bob Ezrin & maybe have another classic.

HOW TO MAKE A KISS HOT AIR BALLOON
From: GeneSimmons.com

Thanks to all of you with "Ideas" -- and it seems, almost all of you have em. Let me stress AGAIN (and again)...the 'ideas' are worth next to nothing. Simply because EVERYONE has ideas. And, you can't trademark or copyright an 'idea'...

Most important is: Do you have the funding to make an idea a reality. If not, your idea MAY be worthless. If you have an INVENTION, you may have something you can sell. Otherwise, "Hey Gene, how about a GENE SIMMONS Hot Air Balloon?" means nothing. You may have the idea (and you're not the only one, remember that), but who pays for it? How much air does it take? How safe is it? Who gets it in the air? "I dunno, Gene. I just have the idea." means nothing.

So, please ...all of you out there: If I don't post your ideas, it's not because I don't appreciate your emails, or don't think you are worth posting, it's simply because what you want me to post, is almost worthless. Sad, but true.

Paul at the Fillmore (Review)
From: KISSFAQ.com

What can I say; I was looking forward to PAUL STANLEY’s San Francisco "Live To Win" visit tremendously. The last time Paul toured solo I was finishing High School in Singapore – way too far away to catch any of the action! 8,000 miles is a valid excuse as far as I’m concerned (though I know some of the diehard fans from Japan disagree and prove it repeatedly)! With the lack of music magazines there I didn’t even know he’d toured until I was in England that summer and picked up some Kerrang magazines. This time it was different. I was in the right place, at the right time… And my wife allowed me out to play.

San Francisco on Monday was miserable. Drizzle continuously fell, reminding me more of Scotland than California. Even though I’d been up for work at 4:30am, I was amped and headed out to the show much earlier that I normally would. Walking down to the Fillmore I hoped there would be something worthwhile to take photos of for the website. There wasn’t, but I arrived just in time to hear the tail end of the sound-check, including the full performances of "Live To Win" and "Love Gun." Those songs provided a cool taste of things to come, something which the unofficial video and audio recordings really can never fully capture. Hanging out on the Geary side of the Fillmore the line had already formed by the time I arrived. There were some familiar faces in the crowd of probably 40 fans. With the rain coming and going it was soon a rather bedraggled lot! No pain, no gain, as they say.

I was interested to see what the Fillmore really was. After nine years living in San Francisco I’d never been to the venue. I’d, much to my shame, missed the Cult earlier this year. With my work schedule, if I’m not working I’d rather be with my family or sleeping. The Fillmore has such a history, but I wasn’t impressed. It stunk. It was filthy. It was run-down. Many of the staff were brutish. It reminded me of many of the dives in Liverpool or Glasgow where I misspent my youth (ah, pub crawls on Smithdown Rd., my liver screams in agony). The only difference being that you could at least drink the liquids sold in those cities. I was struck by how small the venue was. It was clear that it was going to be an intimate audience with Paul, and that made it even cooler.

The KISS Album Focus Volume 3
From: KISSmuseum.com

Seldom do bands come along that leave such an indelible mark on popular culture. During the 1970s KISS redefined what it meant to "entertain" people with their bombastic live performances and larger than life personalities. And the merchandising.... During the 1980s the band fought for survival as internal strife and external competition forced an attempt to reinvent themselves. The early 1990s had seen KISS make one final gesture to be a relevant musical force, but this did not translate into the demanded success. Instead the band started looking to the past. The "Reunion" allowed the band to play their final "Ace" card. The "KISS Album Focus" is an objective look at the history of "the hottest band in the world" that destroys some KISS urban legends and confirms others. Volume 3, "Roar of Greasepaint" picks up the history as they attempt to record a Reunion studio album, and the disjointed soap-opera that followed and continues. Regardless of what will come in the future, they'll write their own ending as they have written every chapter during their history... $22.95 at KISSmuseum.com

KISSTORY LESSON: A CONVERSATION WITH BRUCE KULICK
From: popcultureaddict.com

Their faces are unforgettable. The Demon. The Starchild. The Spaceman. The Catman. Since 1973 these four figures, guised as screaming mimes from hell, have become synonymous with some of the greatest rock 'n' roll music of our time. They are GENE SIMMONS, PAUL STANLEY, ACE FREHLEY and PETER CRISS, better know as, of course, KISS. However, what often goes unrecognized is that in the thirty plus years of KISStory, these four figures were not the only ones responsible for the music that has created an entire army of fans that keeps growing every year. In fact, since PETER CRISS left the band in 1979 there have been six additional members of this legendary band. Recently we had the opportunity to talk to one of those members - guitarist BRUCE KULICK who played lead guitar for KISS from 1984 until 1996.

Bruce first gained the attention of GENE SIMMONS and PAUL STANLEY when his brother, record producer and long time friend of the band, Bob Kulick suggested to Paul and Gene to try Bruce out when they were seeking to replace guitarist MARK ST. JOHN. Now at this time in KISStory, KISS had turned their backs on the elaborate costumes, identifiable make up and super heroic stage antics. However, despite the fact that KISS resembled just another of the 1980s' hair bands that were popular at the time, KISS still managed to keep their fan base and their status on the rock 'n' roll landscape. Now Bruce was no stranger to the world of rock. Having toured as a guitarist on Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell tour in 1977, as well as starting the band Blackjack with future adult contemporary mega-star Michael Bolton, BRUCE KULICK was a seasoned musician that had what it took to play alongside GENE SIMMONS, PAUL STANLEY and ERIC CARR. Thus, for the next twelve years BRUCE KULICK paid his dues by touring, playing and living as one of the KISS family, only to finally leave KISS when original guitarist ACE FREHLEY rejoined the band for the Reunion Tour in 1996. However Bruce's musical journey didn't end there. Forming Union with former Motley Crue vocalist John Corabi and currently playing lead guitar for another classic music group, Grand Funk Railroad, Bruce also has found time to record and release three solo projects of his own. Yet despite these post-KISS successes, BRUCE KULICK is still very much a member of the KISS family. Once KISS grabs on to you it never really lets you go. A regularly featured guest at KISS expos all over the United States, Bruce was also recently called upon by PAUL STANLEY to play bass on his new solo album, "Live to Win".

We were fortunate enough to make contact with Bruce through Wendy Moore, author of the tell-all book "Into the Void... with ACE FREHLEY" and a former girlfriend of the Spaceman himself. Now, Verne has been a KISS fan for about two decades longer than I have, and knows more about KISStory than I ever will. After a series of e-mails between Verne and Bruce, we finally set up a late night phone interview with Bruce in September, 2006. Now for this one I kind of sat back and let Verne take this one. It was truly his night. What followed was a forty five minute conversation with one of the most down to earth celebrities I've ever had the pleasure to talk with. I mean, Bruce may not have had to wear the makeup and he may not have an action figure (not yet anyway) but get ready to learn what it's really like to be a part of the KISS family as

PAUL STANLEY: It's the music, not the makeup
From: The Oregonian

PAUL STANLEY, the Star Child from super-glam group KISS landed at the Aladdin Theater on Saturday night, without the signature heavy-makeup (OK, maybe a bit of "guyliner"), 7-inch platform boots, pyrotechnic effects, or stage-acrobatics that forged the band's legendary live performances.

But fans -- veterans of the so-called "KISS Army" and brand new recruits -- showed up for the rare chance to pay homage to the main singer and songwriter behind the supergroup, which has sold around 100 million albums. The all-age show was sold-out.

"I skipped high school in my senior year back in 1976 to see them live in Seattle," said 49-year-old Portlander David Rojo. "And now, 30 years later, I'm here with my son for his first show."

Paul Minnesota Show Review
From: KNAC

Seventeen years after his last solo outing, and 28 years after his last solo album, PAUL STANLEY has once again hit the road, sans makeup and KISS cohorts, for a club tour showcasing KISS classics and solo material from 1974 to the present.

Upon my arrival at the venue at 7pm, the KISS Army was already out in full force. There was KISS paraphernalia everywhere; hats, t-shirts, halter-tops, and quite a few tattoos. However, I was somewhat surprised at the absence of painted faces. Clearly, the fans were here to see PAUL STANLEY the solo artist, and to hear him dust off some lost KISS classics as well as a few choice cuts from his two solo albums.

At approximately 8:30pm, the opening band took the stage. Hailing from New York, the chick-fronted Slunt delivered a half hour’s worth of fast-paced punk jams. The act was not really my thing, but they put on a high-energy show and clearly were having fun. The crowd was appreciative of their effort, and the band exited to warm applause.

"Kissology: Volume One 1974-1977" is a monumental six-hour, two-DVD box set featuring vintage material going all the way back to the deep early roots of the band's classic lineup — GENE SIMMONS, PAUL STANLEY, ACE FREHLEY and PETER CRISS — captured and re-mastered on two state-of-the-art DVDs featuring more than 70 live performances and four full concerts bundled along with unreleased tracks and never-before-seen footage. The mind-boggling first volume of a definitive three part collection (volumes two and three are being readied for release in 2007) presented by VH1 Classic, "Kissology: Volume One 1974-1977" is a showcase of pristine digitally-restored video coupled with a 5.1 audio mix to provide both stunning visual quality and powerhouse finely-detailed sound designed to meet the approval of the most demanding KISSmaniac.

PAUL STANLEY Glad To Have 'Rock Star' House Band On Tour
From: Mick's Headbangers Ball

Launch Radio Networks reports: KISS singer-guitarist PAUL STANLEY's got a hot band with him on his solo tour behind his album "Live To Win", and it's one that a lot of people know. Stanley is on the road with the house band from the "Rock Star" reality TV show, who worked with INXS on the program's first season in 2005, and then earlier this year with MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee, former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted, and one-time GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Gilby Clarke.

Stanley told Launch that he wasn't a huge fan of "Rock Star", but that the backing group won him over instantly. "You know, the show was mildly entertaining, but the band was incredible!" he said. "From the first time I saw it, I was just blown away by how good they were, and said, 'When I go out on tour, those'll definitely be the guys who I want to go with.'They're a great bunch, and we sound pretty damn good."

Stanley and the "Rock Star" house band shot their performance at the House Of Blues in Chicago November 6th for a DVD.

Why so long? Stanley, regarded by many KISS aficionados as the guy who kept the band going during a rocky stretch in the 1980s, said he had neither the time nor inclination before.

"Honestly over the years, there was so much going on in the band that was, I guess, threatening to the existence of the band. If I was ever off doing other things, there might not be a band to look after," he says.

It could be that recent events in Stanley's life gave him plenty to write about. He underwent hip replacement surgery, got divorced, remarried and welcomed son Colin Michael Stanley to the world on Sept. 6.

PAUL STANLEY asks: Do you (still) love me?
From: StarTribune.com

Twenty-eight years after his first solo album -- released alongside the three other KISS solo records at the height of the band's first marketing blitzkrieg -- PAUL STANLEY has released his second CD, "Live to Win." Tellingly, the album cover features Stanley, 54, front and center sans makeup. Stanley, who appears Tuesday at Myth nightclub, called two weeks ago from a tour stop in Orlando, Fla.

Q How does it feel playing without makeup once again?

A It's awesome. I love being a member of KISS. But I have to say that going out and doing these shows, it points out to people where the power of this music really is, and where the heart and soul is. It's not in makeup or pyrotechnics.

Meeting an Inspiration
Barton College Collegiate

It was Friday the 13th of October, around 4:30 p.m. I had been waiting in line for two hours. The pit of my stomach was about to collapse, and my palms were sweaty. Words were running through my brain at one hundred mph. Finally, the security guard nodded his head, and signaled for me to walk up the steps. I was about to meet GENE SIMMONS.

The fire-breathing, tongue waggling, blood spewing KISS band member was at the Southpoint Mall in Durham promoting the new KISS fragrance line. The legendary rock band is widely known for crazy makeup wearing stage antics, as well as marketing.

KISS is the only band in the world that can market everything from action figures and comic books to tampons, and of course, cologne. Dedicated fans paid $100 for the KISS "Him" and KISS "Her" fragrance sets in exchange for an autograph and a picture with Simmons.

PAUL STANLEY Show Review
From: Eddie Trunk

Saturday night I attended PAUL STANLEY's solo show at Irving Plaza in NYC. Paul has always been my favorite member of the band, one of my favorite singers, and his '78 solo album is still one of the great under the radar gems in rock music. Needless to say the crowd was pumped and the place was packed. Everyone got to the venue early and didn't move until the show ended so they didn't lose their standing space. Really great buzz in the crowd.

Paul was performing his third show in a row but still sang his ass off. When I interviewed him in LA prior to this tour starting he expressed some concern about singing a full set on his own and how he would hold up, no worries, he pretty much nailed everything.

His backing band was made up of the TV show Rock Star's house band. They all did a solid job, the drummer probably being the highlight of the group. The set included 4 songs from the new solo LP and 4 from the '78 solo album. There was also a mix of KISS tunes from all eras. I personally could have done without hearing the signature KISS classics like Detroit, Lick It Up and Love Gun in this show. In a small setting with the most hard core fans in attendence he could have easily added a few more rare tunes, but I understand why he did play this stuff and it went down great.

16 Hour Day Of KISStory
From: KISS Asylum

For any diehard KISS fan that was in NYC on Halloween, it was truly rewarding and exhausting. I wanted to share the experience:

I arrived actually later than I wished (about 8am as I was at Paul's show in Philly the night before) to get the Bracelet for the KISS DVD Promotion at Virgin Megastore in Times Square where about 500 bracelets were up for grabs for the IN STORE appearance of Gene and Paul in makeup at 11pm!

At about 2pm, I got to the entrance where GENE and Paul entered the MTV TRL event and I was very fortunate to be right next to the 2 Vans when they arrived and got nice shots of Paul and Gene entering MTV.

KISS Halloween Parade Float
From: KISSAsylum.com

Tens of thousands of New Yorkers lined the streets of 6th avenue for over 30 blocks to await the main attraction of the night - KISS!!! It was wonderful to see the band receive such a warm welcome from their home town. For over an hour, Paul and Gene stirred up the crowd as their float glided past the other Halloween revelers blasting KISS music all the way, mostly from the '75 Alive era. But the night was not over as now they headed for Time Square's Virgin Megastore for an autograph session to promote the release of the new DVD...

BRUCE KULICK Update
From: Kulick.net

Fall is here! Busy of course and I have so much to tell you all. Just came back from the big Arlington Texas Guitar show the largest vintage guitar show in the world. I was a kid in a candy shop of course! Vintage Guitar magazine asked me come and play and I was thrilled to be there as their guest. I was able to jam with some famous players that I admire. Some you might not know them, but in the guitar community they are highly respected. My angle for performing would be to jam and showcase a terrific singer guitarist from Ft Worth, TX who I met many months ago through the Grand Funk band.

Missi St Thomas is like the two woman in HEART all rolled into one powerful package. So when it came to jamming at the show, I brought her up to sing whatever she wanted and the guitar masters would follow. Made quite a splash at the event. Red Volkaert is famous for his incredible Telecaster picking skills, and has worked the country scene for years. I was in awe of his ability. Wolf Marshall is well known for his many styles and his instructional products for many years. It was an honor to jam with them all.

Missi St Thomas, asked me to produce some songs for her, so me and my new music partner, Jeremy Rubolino, who has been working hard co-writing and will co-produce my next solo disc got busy with Missi here in LA. We all collaborated on three killer tunes, and recorded them at various studios in LA. We will be mixing this week, and I know that the music will make Missi and everyone involved shine. More news all about her songs and how you can hear them coming soon. In the meantime, be sure to check out her web page. Others at the Texas show that I should mention are Dave Amato from REO, a good friend, and Andy Timmons from Danger Danger.

KISS Treats MTV
From: Contact Music

KISS rockers PAUL STANLEY and GENE SIMMONS stunned MTV viewers yesterday (Halloween) when they served up a Hallowe'en treat to surprise TOTAL REQUEST LIVE fans who had come dressed as them. The heavily made-up duo made their TRL debut to promote six-hour KISS collection KISSOLOGY and were thrilled to see two Hallowe'en revellers wearing the band's trademark make-up. Stanley said, "It's Hallowe'en so we figured we'd come down and spend a little time with some other people who know how to dress up." Stanley and Simmons were in New York for the annual Village Hallowe'en Day Parade, where they were invited to take on Grand Marshall roles.
