PETER CRISS To Release 'Special Edition' Of New Solo CD Via Best Buy
From: BLABBERMOUTH.net

The legendary PETER CRISS — founding member, drummer and vocalist of the iconic rock group KISS — in an unprecedented CD promotion, is releasing a special edition of his new upcoming solo CD, "One for All", which will be available worldwide on July 24.

In dedication to his fans, Criss personally autographed a limited amount of CDs of the "special edition" package, which will be marked with a "gold" sticker on the CD, and will be available in the U.S. at the retail chain Best Buy.

"One for All" on Silvercat Records, distributed by Sony/RED, is an autobiographical collection featuring Criss' self-penned tunes, in addition to several cover songs and tribute songs to his fans, that reflect his outlook on life at this point in his long-standing career. In addition to arranging and writing the lyrics and melodies for most of the material on the CD, "One for All" is the first fully self-produced CD by Criss. He was also joined by longtime friends and acclaimed musicians — bandleader Paul Shaffer and bassist Will Lee, as well as guitarist Mike McLaughlin.

Lots of Updates At KULICK.net
From: KULICK.net

Well summer is here and it is time to get busy with Grand Funk. As you know I have been doing some traveling lately out of the country (South America, UK), but the warm weather is here in the USA, so bookings for GFR are very strong this season. We were recently at a huge biker rally in Austin Texas, called ROT (Republic of Texas). Huge crowd and the stage was great! Here's a great live shot to share with you all.

After that show we performed at a casino in Niagara Falls, Canada. The falls on the Canadian side showcases the amazing Horseshoe Falls, that makes a majestic statement from any angle. Well how about the view outside my hotel window! It was unreal to say the least. I couldn't stop looking at it. Next up was Las Vegas and the show at the Green Valley Ranch was terrific.

You can read the rest of the blog as well as check out all the other updates by visiting BRUCE's site!!!

BRUCE KULICK on PAUL's Film
From: PAULSTANLEY.com

The St Louis KISS Expo was excellent, and the highlight was a live film of PAUL STANLEY's Live To Win tour in High Definition. It looked and sounded amazing. Those of you who caught Paul on tour knew what to expect, but the ones that didn't had a huge treat watching that performance filmed in Chicago. Great job by Louis Antonelli who is quite the KISS fan of course.

KISS Unleashes KISSology 2
From: Billboard

KISS will follow up its wildly successful 2006 DVD box set, "Kissology: Volume One, 1974-1977," on Aug. 14 with a second volume chronicling 1978-1991 via VH1 Classic Records.

"It's fantastic that 'Volume One' of 'Kissology' has done huge numbers, but does it surprise me? No, not at all," KISS guitarist TOMMY THAYER tells Billboard.com. "This is KISS in its early raw form, four guys with the hunger and fire, aspiring to take on the world. All this great footage is finally available and it's exciting.".

"Volume Two" will be comprised of three DVDs and a fourth disc that will vary by retailer. The first disc will feature a news special on the band from 1978 and an infamous 1979 interview with Tom Snyder, with other elements still pending, according to KISS' Web site..

Well, he's also gained a reputation for being a pretty savvy marketing guy. Along with all the business ventures he's done with the band. He has a marketing company, a record company, an audio visual company. He's published a magazine, called GENE SIMMONS Tongue.

William Penn University men's basketball coach John Henry and football coach Todd Hafner had a once-in-a-lifetime experience last Sunday when they worked security detail for KISS front man GENE SIMMONS at a IndyCar Series event at the Iowa Speedway in Newton.

The pair served as bodyguards for the rocker, who is currently the star of the A&E reality series "Simmons' Family Jewels". They spent the entire day with Simmons and his entourage as personal crowd control.

Simmons attended the race to promote IndyCar racing. He is part of the "I am Indy" Simmons-Abramson marketing campaign. Throughout the day, he signed autographs and took pictures with fans, while also meeting with drivers.

St. Louis Expo Report
From: KISSOnline.com

The first ever St. Louis KISS Fan Expo turned out to be an eventful day for all who attended! The Expo started out with KISS guitarist TOMMY THAYER surprising the crowd by calling in to wish the fans a great day. Tommy took a few questions from the crowd and told them he was getting excited for the upcoming KISS shows. Next up special guest BRUCE KULICK held a Q&A, and then treated the crowd to an unexpected guitar performance, which included the crowd favorite "Unholy". While the fans mingled and shopped for KISS Collectibles, Bruce spent the rest of the day in the ballroom - signing autographs and posing for photos - including one with Butch Berry. Butch, the son of the legendary rocker Chuck Berry, stopped by with his own son to see what a KISS Expo is all about.

Later in the afternoon director Louis Antonelli took the stage to introduce his PAUL STANLEY Live To Win Concert Film with the help of Mr. Stanley himself. Paul phoned in and told the crowd he was proud of the film and what Lou had accomplished. As the crowd chanted Paul, Paul, Paul - the lights were turned off and the preview began. For the next 30 minutes many in the crowd sang along and applauded as if they were actually at a live show. The preview included the film's trailer as well as the songs "Live To Win", "Got To Choose", "Tonight You Belong To Me", " Everytime I See You Around", "Do You Love Me" and "Love Gun".

Special thanks from KOL: KISSONLINE had a great time catching up with the fans. Thanks to all of our friends and supporters who stopped by our booth - it is always a treat to meet other members of the KISS ARMY! I can't tell you how much your comments on the site mean.

Voluble SIMMONS keeps his tongue moving at Newton

Newton, Ia. - KISS rocker GENE SIMMONS, flanked by two attractive, tan, blond women, created a stir everywhere he walked on the Iowa Speedway infield.

And in case that wasn't enough stir, he would talk..

"Women spend all this time putting on makeup and perfume to look like this. The least we can do is pay them attention," Simmons said as he strolled toward the pit areas, signing autographs and talking with fans as he moved..

10 Questions For...PETER CRISS
From: Goldmine Magazine

There’s so much more to Peter "The Catman" Criss than the layer of black and white stage makeup that he wore as the drummer and a founding member of the legendary rock band KISS.

He hates it when people make illegal music downloads, because it’s stealing. He’s a voracious reader who loves to read about the theater, history, music and biographies — especially the success stories. He’s an aspiring author who is writing his own book. He’s an actor, probably best known for his role on the HBO prison drama "Oz."

And then, of course, there is Peter’s life’s passion: music. He loves to make "records" (he’s old school, after all).

ERIC SINGER Interview
From: KISS Army Australia

ERIC SINGER was gracious enough to grant me an interview over email just recently. I took my chances and contacted his PR for the Alice Tour who just happens to be the rockin' Paul Drennan of "Six Hours" (who are Alice's support). Eric wanted to talk to me over the phone, but he was having problems getting a good line in South America.

Enjoy and as you can see I tried to get KISS news. Eric rules and if you're seeing him while he's in town next month, be sure to thank him! He is awesome and I can't believe he let a small time rock writer like me pick his brain. I am eternally grateful!

Felice

Q1. As a kid in Cleveland, what made you happy?

I remember muscle cars, buying records, going to concerts, swimming at the beach in the summer (Lake Erie) and jamming with friends at parties in their basements !

Q2. When did it register in your own mind, that for you, drumming was more then just a past-time?

From Concerts To Canvas, PAUL STANLEY Continues To Show His Artist Side

As a member of the wildly popular rock band KISS, PAUL STANLEY hid his persona under layers of makeup and spandex. But since the spectacularly coifed guitarist began painting, Stanley is opening up through his artwork.

Wentworth Gallery is offering KISS fans and art lovers alike the chance to see Stanley's works during exhibitions tomorrow and Saturday at the gallery's locations in Bethesda, Md., and McLean. Stanley will be present at both events.

"I saw his art and it sort of struck me as being very, very good," Wentworth owner Michael O'Mahony told The Free Lance-Star this week. "Besides the fact that obviously he's a very well-known rock star, his art is good enough to stand on its own."

Buzz Watch: GENE SIMMONS' New Web Video Network "No Good TV" is Fearless
From: GENESIMMONS.com

No Good TV is a new web video network geared to 18-34 year-old men, or perhaps I should say boys, because its appeal is clearly to guys who enjoy fart-jokes and rock’n'roll more than high culture. But then again, what else can you expect from a company that has the old KISS guitarist GENE SIMMONS, you know with the tongue, as an investor and Chairman of the Board? NGTV balances on the very edge of bad taste, but it’s certainly a whole new kind of web video experience.

Unlike YouTube and along the lines of the hyped online TV service Joost, NGTV aims to have the look and feel of professionally produced television, but totally uncensored and with interactive and animated components. "Quality programming is our thing, unlike all the user-generated content sites that are out there. We are trying to give MTV and HBO a run for its money", says Kourosh Taj, Co-President and Head of Programming.

While the comparison to HBO seems a little far-fetched, NGTV certainly looks better than most original web TV networks I have seen out there. Like HBO, NGTV embraces the fact that they can use the work "fuck", but takes it too a whole other level. You'll see what I mean.

And no matter how exhausted we were, the next morning about half the camp signed up for a bonus day to Liverpool, birthplace of The Beatles. How cool is that! So off we were to the train station at 9 AM for a first class ride for 3 hours on Virgin Trains. Had a blast talking with everyone, resting, eating, and there even was a little jam with Spike Edney leading the gang singing Beatles songs like in the famous mop top movie, "A Hard Days Night". Fantasy Camp rocks the train!

GENE SIMMONS: The Art Of War Coming This Fall
From: Phoenix Books

Rock legend meets the greatest thinker on military strategy ever! A perfect pairing of the 2,500-year-old Chinese master and the contemporary mogul of rock music, the creator of KISS.

As a modern stategist of today's entertainment wars, GENE SIMMONS has few equals. Over his nearly-forty-year career in show business GENE SIMMONS has fought countless battles, avoided even more (Sun Tzu would approve) and emerged victorious nearly every time.

Now, GENE has updated one of the most famous manuals on tactics ever written, interpreted it for a contemporary audience, and added his novel observations. GENE SIMMONS' The Art Of War will take its place as the essential guide book for the 21st century warrior, no matter what the kind of battles being fought are.

TOMMY Visits Gibson Guitars
From: TOMMYTHAYER.com

I was fortunate to visit the Memphis Gibson Guitar factory for a personal tour today by David Winters, the Gibson Memphis Operations Manager. David is a fantastic guy and he gave my wife Amber and I a great personal tour of the facilities. The Memphis factory specializes in the Gibson Archtop and ES models, as well as Les Paul Customs and Doublenecks. I've played Gibsons all my life and it's always fun to see how these great guitars are made. Stay tuned for more on my trip this week to Memphis and Nashville. - Tommy

A&E RENEWS FAMILY JEWELS
From: KISS

A&E has said yes to a third season of "GENE SIMMONS: Family Jewels," upping its order to 24 half-hour episodes from last season's 20 installments.

According to Variety, the decision was an easy one: "Jewels" is A&E's second-highest-rated series ever in the 18-to-49 and 25-to-54 adult demographics, behind only "Dog the Bounty Hunter." "Jewels" did even better in its second season than in its first, leaping by 15 percent in total viewers to a 1.5 million average and climbing by 11 percent in adults 18 to 49 and by 8 percent in adults 25 to 54.

A&E's relationship with Mr. Simmons started with a one-shot "Biography" hour of the rock legend and KISS frontman. That "Biography" episode scored ...Full Story

BRUCE's Blog From The Last Day Of Fantasy Camp
From: KULICK.net

Last day of the camp, and the excitement along with the exhaustion of the days are in the air. All 7 bands playing for 15 minutes on stage in Studio One at the most famous studio in the world, Abbey Road! We had a morning session of rehearsal, and now it was time to discuss the staging of my band, "Cinco de Yayo". We knew Yayo, our amazing young 14 year old front-man, would introduce himself as "half Monster, half Mexican" but together WE are Cinco De Yayo!! Funny way to start the set but we loved his humor and want to keep things light for sure.

After a good rehearsal tightening up our three tunes, we were off to our last camp lunch. I got my friend's contact info, as next up the talented Paul Carrack from Mike and the Mechanics and Squeeze was to play and do a Q and A for the campers. This guy can sing, and play the Hammond in a very excellent way. He did "How Long" from another band he was in called Ace, and then did the Squeeze hit "Tempted" before finishing off with "In The Living Years" from Mike and the Mechanics. What a finish to our camp entertainment. Paul is a class act and earned our respect as a "musicians musician".

BRUCE's Fantasy Camp Blog Day 4
From: KULICK.net

Day four started off with my band, "Cinco De Yayo" going to Abbey Road Studios to record our new original that would be titled "Rock Steady". Scott, our journalist bassist, was missing in action, and I was freaking in the shuttle bus. I felt something was wrong and everyone tried to calm me down. But I was right... his plans to travel from his girl's place instead of the hotel backfired when the transportation was cancelled. He finally showed up wet and tired an hour late. But we got a bass from John Henry's as we were all really excited to cut that new song.

We got the basic track down fairly quickly, and this time we were NOT in Studio 2, we used Studio 3. Many famous work was done there and to be quite honest, studio 2 was quite intimidating so I was happy for the change. The studio is amazing and our new engineers were willing and quite able to do the job for us. Chris and Andy were impressed with the music and really enjoyed Yayo's talent and personality. We got Yayo in to do better sounding guitar parts, and then got him to sing a rough, as we had some plans to get Jack Bruce's daughter on the song once everyone from the camp heard her rehearsing some it with my band.

Fantasy Camp Day 3
From: KULICK.net

Another exciting day at the UK Fantasy Camp. I woke up and finally landed on my feet after working 6 hours at Abbey Road studios famed Studio 2. It was time to get back to rehearsing the band on our three songs. "Day Tripper" was getting tighter and tighter, and of course we had "Bitch" by the Stones pretty dialed in as we just had Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones play that song with us the night before.

Special guest Gary Brooker from Procol Harum, famed for the great song "Whiter Shade Of Pale", stopped by for a visit. I had my Procol Harum greatest hits CD ready for him to sign, and we played a new song that my star lead singer guitarist Yayo wrote. We were jamming all morning. That was our original tune for the competition and it was great to run it by Gary, as he is a famed keyboard player. We figured we could ask if the organ part I came up with was good. Gary jammed it with us, showing Joan our keyboard player, (great Mom of three kids, and a Doctor as well) some parts to use if she cared to.

BRUCE KULICK Interview
From: KISSOnline

What I learned from Gene and Paul was that they experienced all of the ups and downs in the business so they knew how to protect the band and move forward and survive in a difficult industry. They were able to deal with the record company and people who did the tours in a very tough way, because they rightfully felt that no one knew their vision like they did. - BRUCE KULICK

There are two kinds of people who know about the existence of the hottest band in the world. There are the action-figure collecting, cranking to eleven, card-carrying Kissologists who love KISS to the point of obsession, and there are those who simply have never understood what all the fuss was about. Both factions will find common ground on June 24, with the very first KISS Expo to be held in St. Louis at the Holiday Inn Southwest and Viking Center. Not only will members of the KISS Army be on hand to proudly display the team colors of black and chrome, the expo is sure to draw the curious and puzzled to try and get an education on the pop culture impact of the face-painted rockers' timeless music and genius merchandising. Fans and collectors will be able to shop for popular and hard-to-find memorabilia, join in a tribute to the late KISS guitarist MARK ST. JOHN, and hang out with none other than ex-KISS guitarist BRUCE KULICK and the founder of the KISS Army, Bill Starkey.
