ACE FREHLEY Trashes Hotel Room
From: American Journal

An oldie but a goodie. ACE FREHLEY shows the finer points of trashing a hotel room. The sofa goes out the window, everything glass is broken, including the TV picture tube. And the chain saw provides the finishing touch. Ace at his finest! Watch it here

Baseball League KISS Their Season Goodbye
From: GeneSimmons.com

We can think of any number of ways to pay homage to GENE SIMMONS on his birthday -- trying to perfect a panini presses that'd etch our visage in sourdough bread ranks fairly high on the list -- but for some reason, a minor league baseball game doesn't come to mind. The folks running the Brockton Rox of the independent Can-Am League apparently feel differently, however, and have decided to commemorate Aug. 25 with a blowout dedicated to Simmons and his band.

"KISS the Season Goodbye" night -- which falls, logically enough, during the last weekend of the season -- will feature a number of KISS-themed activities, including a grown-up strain of face painting. Team management promises that players will show up decked out in "Kiss-inspired" uniforms, which we can only hope come accessorized with six-inch platform sneakers and codpieces calculated to withstand a good old-fashioned spike to the crotch.

I AM ABSOLUTELY FINE
From: PaulStanley.com

To All My Friends And Fans,

I wanted to let all of you know that I AM ABSOLUTELY FINE!

I'm going to the gym as usual, painting as usual and will be going into the recording studio this week. Like many, I have had a rapid heart beat condition most of my life and I never have had any type of restrictions. When I've had an episode, although momentarily disrupting and taxing, it has no residual effect. This is nothing new and my doctors have known about it.

Anton Fig and PETER CRISS.
For KISS's Criss, A New Solo CD Is Vindication
From: Saratosa Herald-Tribune

With a few exceptions, rock drummers are among the least recognized musicians in public. Although they have the most important job -- keeping the beat -- the fact that they are usually not songwriters or singers means they are less likely to have a rabid fan base beyond other drummers.

A notable exception is PETER CRISS. As a founding member of KISS in the 1970s, he not only sang, he wrote -- in fact, he wrote the band's biggest hit, the ballad "Beth." And one was just as likely to see his trademark cat makeup emulated on the faces of young fans as they were to see that of bassist GENE SIMMONS, rhythm guitarist PAUL STANLEY or lead guitarist ACE FREHLEY.

Criss left "the hottest band in the world" at the height of its popularity in 1979, and Frehley followed in 1982. When they rejoined in 1996, the result was the one of the highest-grossing tours of the decade. Since then, it's been an on-again, off-again romance for Criss and KISS, and each departure has resulted in Simmons' ridiculing the drummer's musical abilities.

Message From Paul
From: PaulStanley.com

During sound check yesterday, my heart spontaneously jumped to 190 plus beats per minute where it stayed for over an hour necessitating paramedics to start an IV and give me a shot to momentarily stop my heart and get it into a normal pattern. Not knowing if this episode was life threatening made it even more exhausting. After consulting with both the paramedics and a cardiologist at Cedar Sinai, they confirmed my worst fear. They said that I would put myself at risk if I tried to do the show.

I’m very proud of Gene, Tommy and Eric for carrying on without me. I apologize to anyone I disappointed and I’ll make it up to you when I see you again.

Paul.

KISS Rocks For Paul
From: KISSOnline

Last night an extraordinary page was written in KISSTORY. At the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, California, last stop of the band’s 2007 ‘Hit & Run’ mini Tour, KISS performed as a TRIO for the first time ever. Immediately following the band’s sound check, PAUL STANLEY suddenly fell ill, with what was later determined to be a "cardiac event".

Once it was determined by emergency medical staff that Paul could not perform, there was talk that the show would need to be canceled. It was Paul himself, who insisted that the band play the show without him. Paul was concerned that fans had traveled long distances and because of the band's individual schedules the show could not be rescheduled.

KISS Manager Doc McGhee then took the stage to announce to the crowd that Paul was sick and unable to perform but that Gene wanted to speak with the fans. Gene asked the audience if they wanted him, Tommy & Eric to perform. The crowd responded with a defeaning chant of yes, yes, yes. With that, Gene announced that the concert (If they could pull it off), was a tribute to "The Greatest Voice in Rock and Roll - Rock God PAUL STANLEY".

Cisco Got A Great Big KISS
From: KISSOnline

Thanks to our friend - KISS fan Bret Moiseff for sending KISSONLINE this report from CISCO. CISCO held its annual convention in Anaheim this year- "CISCO LIVE." With this came a massive customer appreciation event held at a large open air facility in San Juan Capistrano. The concert facility was surrounded by rolling hills not so different from the Verizon Amphitheater in Irvine, not too far up the road. Guests were greeted by the large KISS stage, rides and attractions, unlimited food and drink, KISS face painting, and more. Three all female bands kept the crowd rocking (and hooting/ hollering) up until KISS hit the stage at 9:30 p.m. sharp. As the time drew closer the event goers crowded the front of the stage, as it was a standing general admission type set-up. KISS came out and kicked off a 90 minute set, which never had a moment of down time.

The set list was as follows-

Detroit Rock City
Deuce
Makin' Love
Calling Dr. Love
Lick It Up
I Love It Loud
Firehouse
Do You Love Me?
Got To Choose

KISS Fans Rock City
From: Tennessean

KISSONLINE NOTE - KOL will be at the Nashville KISS Fan Expo with exclusive KISS & PAUL STANLEY merchandise. To celebrate the upcoming KISSOLOGY Volume 2, VH1 Classics has given us 30 rare KISSOLOGY Posters to raffle off! Also Pearl Drums is giving away an ERIC SINGER Signature Snare Drum to a lucky fan. Please drop by the KOL table and say hello.

During KISS' 1970s heyday, ERIC SINGER was a Cleveland, Ohio, teenager who made his way to see the band several times on tour. Today, the 49-year-old drummer doesn't like to refer to himself as a fan — Singer prefers the term "professional," since he finds himself in full black-and-white cat-like makeup keeping the beat for KISS every night the band takes the stage. Singer, the band's third drummer after PETER CRISS and ERIC CARR, is technically off Sunday, but he still plans to pucker up for KISS' most dedicated fans. The drummer will be the special guest at the 2007 Nashville KISS Expo noon-8 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Select Opryland.

"The convention is basically a meeting of people who are like-minded in the sense of their passion and fandom," Singer said. "That's what the word 'fanatic' means, it's fans that are crazy. And that's the way that KISS fans are, they are like no other breed. There are a lot of fans that every band shares and enjoys, and then there are KISS fans, which are really in a league of their own. There are no fans like KISS fans."

PETER CRISS Autographed CDs At Best Buy
From: Ryan Witting

I was the first in line at my local Best Buy to get Peter's new CD "One for All." I was anxious to get to the store as soon as it opened because I wanted to have the first chance to score one of the Limited Edition Hand Signed copies of Peter's CD. Luckily I got to the store when I did because there were only 2 copies of the autographed version of the CD! Of course, I bought both. I've included a picture of what the CD's cover and autograph looks like.

I urge all KISS / PETER CRISS fans to get to your local Best Buy immediately in order to have a chance at purchasing an extremely rare limited edition collectible. By the way, the CD is excellent. Finally, fans are able to appreciate Peter for the true musician that he is.

One final thought, I wanted to thank PETER CRISS for issuing such an awesome collectible to his fans. This is a true touch of class from a certified legend.

PETER CRISS On Rockline
From: RocklineRadio.com

Meow indeed. PETER CRISS is poised to release his first full solo album in twenty-five years on July 24. Called "One For All", the title track was inspired by the horrific events of 9-11 and immediately sets the stage as a compelling story as the song unfolds and reveals Peter’s journey to church and then the realization of what was happening on that tragic day almost six years ago. The album, evenly paced and measured, reflects the current state of mind of the former drummer of one of Rock’s seminal and legendary bands, KISS. Criss considers the new CD to be autobiographical in nature even though he includes two improbable cover songs that somehow mesh with the overall tone and quality of the album. One is Broadway playwright Stephen Sondheim’s "Send in the Clowns" and the other is soulful Dinah Washington’s evergreen "What a Difference a Day Makes". Peter’s website is http://www.petercriss.net/ and is the only official site on the net.

Joining Criss on "One For All" are long time friends and stalwart’s of the David Letterman show bandleader Paul Shaffer and bassist extraordinaire Will Lee. Noted for his innovative drum work, Peter’s vocal talents and songwriting abilities are sometimes overlooked and his song "Beth" remains a fan favorite to this day. Interviews with Criss are rare, let alone the opportunity to speak directly with Peter as ROCKLINE will allow, so take advantage of this occasion to hear the new CD and help us conduct the interview.

PETER CRISS Says Solo Album Was Inspired By New York City After 9/11
From: Launch Radio

PETER CRISS, the original drummer for KISS, releases a new solo album today (July 24th), titled One For All. Criss produced the album himself for the first time, and guest musicians include keyboardist Paul Shaffer and bassist Will Lee of Late Night with David Letterman. The album includes a range of styles, from rock and jazz to blues and Broadway, and includes covers of 'What A Difference A Day Makes' and 'Send In The Clowns'.

Criss says One For All was inspired by the how it felt in his hometown of New York City in the weeks after the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001: "The city was so close again, it seemed like New York really was in pain, and there was a lot of reaching out for everybody, everybody's reaching out for everybody, everybody seemed really, like it was Christmas, there was gonna be more actually wanting to care, and loving in New York. The city seemed kind of hurt."

Criss says he then made the jump to "One for all": "And I thought of the old slogan 'One for all, all for one.' And it was like that famous slogan that the four musketeers would say. And I thought, you know, that's a great thing, 'All for one,'that's how we should be thinking now."

An Update From BRUCE In The Studio
From: KULICK.net

Well, a short day but an exciting one for my new disc. As I have mentioned before, I am approaching this disc a bit differently and I am planning on having some special guests. Well at the Rock N Roll Fantasy Camp a few years back I worked with Doug Fieger who is the singer of The Knack. You all know "My Sharona" of course, what an amazing song, and my friendship with Doug led me to ask him to sing one of my songs for the new BK3 disc. He was excited about it, and after a meeting at his house to listen to the demo, he said a big YES.

The song is called "It's Never Enough" about a woman who is not aware she could have it all, but instead is just difficult with everyone, and just caught up with herself. So a kind of love song, but a frustrating one. Doug sang it yesterday in only an hour as he is quick at the mic, and we took a few pix before he took off. He still performs with The Knack and will be touring in August in Australia. I was glad to grab him as our schedules always were hard to coordinate.

"I'm of the school of thought that everyone should have art in their home. Whether you live in an apartment, a trailer or an estate, art is a really cool thing to have," PAUL STANLEY said..

For over 30 years, Stanley has been the prancing and dancing lead singer of the self-proclaimed "hottest band in the land" -- KISS..

These days, the 50-something rock star is clearly more excited these days to establish himself as the "hottest brush in the land," by promoting a series of cross-country exhibits at the Wentworth Gallery chain, the exclusive retail outlet for his collection of original paintings..

KISS Licks It Up

Since releasing their first record in 1973, KISS has been worshiped, emulated, mocked, spoofed and followed the world over.

Their influence is undeniable and an entire generation was born and raised listening to the driving beats and screaming guitars that launched them into a state of infamy of God-like proportions.

After the cancellation of a Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan appearance a couple of years ago, KISS made the Sault one of only three stops they're making this year.

KISS, the legendary demons of rock, invaded this Michigan city with the eardrum-bursting brand of rock its troops have demanded for more than three decades.

From the opening bars of Detroit Rock City, the nearly 10,000-strong local militia of the KISS Army never retreated, responding to each guitar lick, accompanying explosion and thundering drum beat with shrieks and screams.

Original members GENE SIMMONS and PAUL STANLEY courted the crowd, and the front-row flock of photographers, with plenty of poses. Simmons offered ample glimpses of his trademark tongue and Stanley spit out a few saliva-drenched guitar picks.

Artwork, from KISS to canvas
From: Chicago Sun-Times

When it comes to manipulating paint on a canvas, let's just say that PAUL STANLEY -- one of the four faces of the iconic rock band KISS -- is quite the expert, whether that canvas is his own visage or a swath of cloth resting on an easel.

"It's generally a two-hour process if I'm being leisurely," Stanley says about the amount of time it takes to transform himself into his rock star stage persona. "In a pinch, it's just a little over an hour. Remember, when I put on those boots I have to acclimate to a higher altitude, so a good amount of time is definitely required."

Painting on fabric canvas is not so cut and dried, the 55-year-old singer-songwriter-artist reveals.

GENE SIMMONS House Of Horrors #1

Writers: GENE SIMMONS, Leah Moore, John Reppion, Tom Waltz, Chris Ryall, Sean Taylor, Dwight L. MacPherson, and Nick Simmons
Artists: Matt Busch, Jeffrey Zornow, Esteve Polls, Steph Stamb, Jon Alderink, and Grant Bond
Company: IDW Publishing

Anthology comics are a tough package to sell. There’s no hook to grab the reader on every story besides the overall theme (if there even is one), so the quality of the writing and art is more important than ever, and with the variety of stories involved, there’s a good chance that only about half are going to connect with each reader on average- and that’s if you have a good book.

This one has several things going for it. GENE SIMMONS is a name people know, even if it isn’t for comics. Horror anthologies have a long, successful pedigree, going back decades and including greats like Tales From the Crypt, Creepy, The House of Mystery, and plenty of others. If there’s any modern anthology format that people are used to, it’s probably horror. Add to that IDW’s well-earned reputation for quality, with glossy, heavy paper stock and no ad interruption, and you have a recipe for a possible success.

Gene Featured In VH1 Classic's Seven Ages Of Rock
From: Mick's Headbanger's Ball

"Seven Ages of Rock", a co-production with the BBC, will make its U.S. debut on VH1 Classic Monday, December 17. MTV veteran Mark Goodman narrates this seven-part series, which showcases the various genres of rock music that impacted and shaped pop culture.

From the birth of rock to metal to alternative rock — there is a genre for every music fan — some that have stood the test of time and others that have not. This exclusive series will delve into what made each of these genres of music resonate with fans across the world.

Each of the seven episodes will take a deeper look into the individual ages of rock by evaluating the music itself -- breaking down key tracks, getting behind the songs and composing ideas, as well as looking into the social influences of the time and the social context that influenced the progression of the music. Throughout each episode viewers will hear from some of rock music's biggest icons, including Keith Richards, David Bowie, Roger Waters, Lou Reed, Ozzy Osbourne, James Hetfield, Deborah Harry, GENE SIMMONS, Roger Taylor, Stewart Copeland, Bruce Springsteen, Steven Van Zandt, Michael Stipe, Henry Rollins, Dave Grohl, Frank Black, Noel Gallagher and many more.

Stars on NGTV plug away, bawdy and blue
From: Hollywood Reporter

Of the countless promotional opportunities the cast of "Spider-Man 3" engaged in, none was quite like the one they did for a new Web site, No Good TV.

Maybe it was the way Topher Grace casually used the F-wordduring an interview; rather than cut the expletive, the segment was edited so that he repeated the word nine times. Or maybe it was Thomas Haden Church's bald-faced flirting with the buxom interviewer, Carrie Keagan. Or it could have been Kirsten Dunst closing her interview by using a four-letter reference to the female anatomy, eyebrow-raising even by Internet standards..

It might sound like an uncensored "Saturday Night Live" skit, but it's business as usual for NGTV. The main attraction at this increasingly high-trafficked Web brand is A-list talent plugging even PG and PG-13 film and TV fare in distinctly hard-R style -- think "Entertainment Tonight" meets Howard Stern on Sirius. The segments are heavy with perverted jokes and expletive-filled dialogue..

PAUL STANLEY Guitar Collection
From: KISS Asylum

There is never a quiet moment in my home…I have as you can see plenty of PAUL STANLEY’s Signature guitars. I got the Ibanez PS 10 Ltd. signed to my self at the start of KISS’s Reunion Tour in 1996….It just snowballed from there….First it was the Silvertone lineup, followed by the current Washburn line….However I do not own the "Solo Tour" Washburn’s yet….Also I have acquired 2 of Paul’s fine art pieces, both of them are # 75’s of limited editions. I also collect KISS Merchandise….My collection has grown so much that I do not have enough room in my home to show it all. On a side note I caught Paul’s solo show in Seattle last November, it was a superb show & I am very much looking forward to picking up the DVD from that tour.

KISS And Sell
From: vancouver.24hrs.ca

For 27 years, GENE SIMMONS sat on his Moneybag trademark waiting for the perfect designer to collaborate with. So when the king of merch handpicked Vancouver's very Jason "Deuce" Dussault to work him on a line of bad ass Ts, bags and accessories, it was a pretty big deal - especially considering how much Dussault idolized the KISS bassist. The bearded clothier still remembers his first meeting with the blood-spewing musician last fall.

"He had just finished getting his plastic surgery and tummy tuck," recalls Daussaltt. "So when we showed up to his house, hes had on black sunglasses and a baseball cap. His eyes were black and his face was all puffy. His whole body was bandaged up like a mummy. But that's GENE SIMMONS - you can't keep him down for long. Because he just wants to get up and start doing business. He's just a machine."

Of course. Dussault is no stranger to celebrity interactions. People like Rob Zombie, Nicole Richie and Prevail of Swollen Members have been ordering tattoo-inspired, embroidered hoodies and Ts from Dussault's own label, Deuce/Dussault, since last summer.

ERIC SINGER Interview Online
From: RockPages.gr

The following is an excerpt from an interview with members of the Alice Cooper band, including ERIC SINGER. Read the entire article, where Eric discusses Carnival Of Souls, fans, and all things KISS at the Rock Pages Website.

The next day we had scheduled our meeting with ERIC SINGER at the lobby of the hotel, so as to complete our small tribute to the Alice Cooper Group. Of course, ERIC SINGER is not simply the Alice Cooper drummer, as his CV includes recordings and tours with artists like: Lita Ford, Black Sabbath, Gary Moore, KISS, Brian May etc. Immediately, we are impressed with his photographic memory as he remembers all the details from our previous meeting in Berlin (February 2006) and points out that everybody is surprised when he remembers all this peculiar little details.

When we sat down and order some coffee (Cappuccino and two refreshments actually, if we are talking about small details), Eric explained to us that it is very hard to please every fan and they are many out there who thinks that he is obnoxious or bad-tempered.

"The truth is that it is a part of my job, but there are times when I want to be left alone, especially when you have traveled from the other side of the other world and you are surrounded by the most demanding fans who want to sign them the same photo 4 or 5 times! What I am saying is that I love to be around fans and talk with them, but there are moments when they cross the line". All we can say is that for the next couple of hours Eric was very friendly and he answered to all questions. However, we can only agree with Eric when he says to us that he is only human with bad and good days, like everyone else, and one cannot please everybody! Actually, there are many fans who get disappointed when they meet their idols at a very bad timing. Their mistake is that they have portrayed an image that is far remote from reality. Eric, himself, admits that his life changed when he became a professional musician, but on the other hand his character –more or less- remained the same. After all, he emphatically points out that the success hasn’t brought him the money that many people think that he has. "There are very few musicians who can say that they are millionaires from this whole music business thing. All I can say is that I am one of the lucky ones who can make a living by playing drums. Most musicians are forced to do other things in order to get by".

A&E Orders 24 Episodes Of Family Jewels For Season III
From: Variety

A&E has said yes to a third season of "GENE SIMMONS: Family Jewels," upping its order to 24 half-hours from last season's 20.

The decision was an easy one: "Jewels" is A&E's second highest rated series ever in adults 18-49 and 25-54, behind only "Dog the Bounty Hunter." "Jewels" did even better in the second season than the first, leaping by 15% in total viewers to a 1.5 million average and climbing by 11% in adults 18-49 and by 8% in 25-54.

A&E's relationship with Simmons started with a one-shot "Biography" hour of the rock legend and KISS frontman. That "Biography" episode scored so well in the Nielsens that A&E negotiated with Simmons and the exec producer Leslie Greif to create a 13-episode weekly half-hour series that would delve into Simmons' life with his common-law partner Shannon Tweed and their teenage son and daughter.
