Loaded Deck Reviews
  • From: Chris Cook
I just got "LOADED DECK," the latest installment in the Ace Frehley Greatest Hits ("12 Picks") catalog, and all I can say is it is awesome. The packaging is very cool. I got a blue promo pick with it (the quality of this pick seems a little better than the pick that came with "12 Picks"). On one side of the pick it has Ace's autograph and the other side it says "promo only not for sale" with a spade symbol under that.
The inside is very informative. It is two pages with a track listing and a brief description of each song from John Regan. Each description says basically where, when, who, etc. On the back of the booklet there is a photo of ACE in a straight jacket (black and white). But enough about the packaging on to the music.
(Note: "Loaded Deck" Officially comes out January 20, 1998)

This cd contains 12 songs, two of which are previously unreleased studio tracks, four of which are previously unreleased live recordings.

The track listing is as follows:
    1. "One Plus One" - (Previously unreleased studio track from 1986)
This song is great although, like John Regan states in his description, it is a bit commercial. But you must remember that was the general vibe in 1986. Ace 's vocals and lyrics are really good and his guitar playing is, as usual, great.
    2. "Give It To Me Anyway" - (Previously unreleased studio track from 1989)
Richies vocals are great and the guitars rock. One of my personal favorites.
    3. "Do Ya" - (from Trouble Walkin')
    4. "Its Over Now" - (from Second Sighting)
    5. "Shot Full of Rock"- (from Trouble Walkin')
    6. "Stranger In A Strange Land" - (Previously unreleased live recording)
This sounds really good. Ace, Tod, John, and Anton all kick butt on this one.
    7. "Seperate" - (Previously unreleased live recording)
This one is another of my personal favorites. This is the first time they ever played this song live and it sounds awesome.
    8. "N.Y. Groove" - (Previously unreleased live recording)
An awesome live version. According to John Regan if you close your eyes while listening to this you can almost see Ace's light up guitar lighting up in synchronisity to the drum beat.
    9. "Rock Soldiers" - (Previously unreleased live recording)
Great live performance. Anton bashes the skins something fierce.
    10. "Remember Me" - (Previously unreleased live recording)
By far my favorite track on the cd, very awesome. Ace's vocals are awesome and the blues sound to this track is just dead on. Kick ass awesome.
    11. "Fractured Too"
    12. "Fractured 3"
A great cd, you will definately like this one. Like it....... you will love it! I know I do..
