KISS Guitar Fetches $1,200 For Women's Charity
From: Superstar

The guitar, autographed by all 4 original KISS members, helped the Women At Risk charity recently raise $1,200 at a charity run fundraiser. "It was my brother's prized possession and surely must have been difficult to part with," said Super Star. "I am immensely proud of him." Rock Star jokingly says, "Shut up, Supo!"

"In complete honesty, these boys are so wonderful to have donated such a great piece of rock history," says Carmen from the Woman At Risk foundation. "I'm a fan for life!" Rock Star is also parting ways with two very cool Kiss related domains - www.youwantedthebestyougotthebest.com and www.kissingtime.com, the first ever social networking site made just for Kiss fans! For more information on these domains and for information on Rock Star and Super Star's charitable organization, please visit www.weareoneonline.org.

Arena Management Demands KISS
From: Lowell Sun

No, KISS wasn't in town, but this was the next best thing. Members of the Tsongas Arena's management, including box-office manager Carla Dubiel , General Manager Craig Gates, Ralph Martin, who works in operations, and ticket seller Sarah Mallard, donned the black-and-white makeup of 1970's rockers KISS and assaulted the downtown, shilling for votes to "demand" that KISS play the arena.

The crew got the attention of Lowell Police Superintendent Ken Lavallee. After determining that they were not just a group of looting hoodlums, his vote was won and, being a good sport, he even had his picture taken with them.

The band is holding an online contest to determine where they will play this summer.

To demand that KISS play the Tsongas Arena, go to www.eventful.com/KISS and demand Lowell, MA 01852. Voting ends June 30.

Buckcherry To Open For KISS
From: KISSonline.com

Fan Votes at Eventful Will Determine U.S. and Canadian Cities Where KISS and Buckcherry Will Perform on Their 2009 Tour

Legendary band KISS made headlines last month when they announced their U.S. and Canadian tour will be the world's first to put fans in charge of where a tour is routed. Now, KISS is adding even more excitement to their tour as they announce the selection of Buckcherry as opening act. This is destined to be the most explosive show of the year; and by partnering with Web site Eventful, fans will "Demand" exactly where KISS will perform in (top-voted) North American markets beginning this September.

Buckcherry fans can now join the hundreds of thousands of KISS fans that have voted to date at www.eventful.com/KISS. They have just six more weeks—until voting ends on June 30th - to "Demand" what cities they want to see the tour hit. No matter where the fans say - "from stadiums to cornfields"--if there are enough votes, the KISS tour will be there! And in order to keep the competition fair for smaller cities, final site selection will weigh population size versus total votes. More than 8,000 cities and towns are already represented on the fan-submitted list.

Amercian Idol Winner: KISS
From: WBAL Radio

It was a night to remember for all those members (including me) of the KISS Army.

Millions of Americans rocking to Detroit Rock City and Rock and Roll All Night as KISS was front-and-center on the American Idol finale show performing with eventual runner-up Adam Lambert.

Even though he finished second to Kris Allen, Lambert was the real winner last night with the KISS Army.

Not one, but three KISS hits. And better yet, KISS is coming out with a new album and will hit the road for a new tour. Do you think Adam Lambert might find his way on stage during the tour? It will be KISS' first album since 1998's "Psycho Circus," which went to #3 on the Billboard albums chart.

Lambert Gets Glammed Up With KISS
From: MTV.com

Say what you will about Adam Lambert, but you cannot deny the fact that the guy knows how to put on a show.

Regardless of whether or not he's crowned "American Idol" champ, he already stole the show with a jaw-dropping, fist-pumping, pyro-enhanced performance with legendary rockers KISS.

Lambert started things off solo, wearing a studded, sorta-angelic ensemble (leather epaulet, with wings and all), performing a somber, falsetto'ed version of "Beth." Then as the pyro hit, KISS themselves descended from the heavens and launched into a big-time take on another staple (from the same year, 1976), "Detroit Rock City."

Interview With Jesse Leadbetter
From: Diamant Noir

Among the dozens of products stamped by the KISS logo flooding the market, there is one whose success with the fans has never failed: the trading card. 2009 promises to be an exceptional vintage with the release of a new and beautiful series from Press Pass, "KISS Ikons!" And since good news never comes alone, the U.S. company promises a second series for the month of August! I'm not going to tell you more and I'm going to leave you with Jesse Leadbetter, Associate Product Manager for Press Pass, who was kind enough to answer some questions for DN's readers...

- First, could you please introduce yourself and tell our readers about your company?

My name is Jesse, and I'm 27 years old. I've worked for Press Pass since I graduated college in 2005. My first product release was our Elvis Lives set in 2006. Although KISS became famous before my time, I'm fascinated by their ability to market the KISS brand. Very few bands have remained relevant as these guys have throughout their career. It is an honor to be able to work with the band to market products for one of the most respected and recognizable brands in the entertainment industry. KISS is a great fit for Press Pass. Our company was founded in 1992 and much like KISS, we were quick to shake up the industry and make our presence known. We staked our claim as a trendsetter by incorporating the first athlete-worn memorabilia in our products, a practice that other card companies were quick to follow. Our core business is NASCAR trading cards. However, our entertainment trading card releases are widely popular, especially KISS!

- Who got the idea of the new KISS Ikons Trading Cards?

Affliction Clothing Announces Gene Simmons As Brand Ambassador
From: PR Newswire

Affliction Clothing, the premier label for men who love hard rock and fast living, has announced that Gene Simmons, Rock God, Multi-Media Magnate and co-founder of the hottest band in the world, KISS will be serving as a brand ambassador. The relationship is the result of both parties' commitment to Children's Hospital of Los Angeles' Rally for the Cure.

"We are looking forward to working with Gene Simmons and having him assist in furthering the Affliction brand," commented Eric Foss, Owner and Creative Director of Affliction. "We launched with a rock aesthetic and while we have branched out to include other lifestyles including action and pro sports such as surf, skate, motocross, football, baseball, boxing, and MMA, we have held fast to our rock 'n roll roots."

Gene Simmons commented, "I'm Gene Simmons. And you're not. I only get involved with entities that share my passion for vision. And that means my way or the highway. That takes creativity, an arrogant, almost delusional belief in self, and a take no prisoners attitude in business."

KISS Star Shows His Other Passion
From: myFoxPhilly.com

Paul Stanley is an artist in many different circles and, of course, we first saw his work on the stage in the 1970s as the front man for the legendary band KISS.

Full make-up and everything, Stanley and the rest of KISS became trendsetters in the world of rock and roll. To this day, you can find just about anything when it comes to KISS memorabilia.

Stanley visited "Good Day Philadelphia" on Friday to talk about his other kind of artwork, a new personal collection that is going on display at Wentworth Galleries in King of Prussia.

He talked about the pieces of art, the differences between his paintings and sculptures and being an artist on stage with KISS, and who's coming to see his exhibit.

"You don't need a degree (to appreciate art) and you don't need a person to tell you what good art is," said Stanley, 57, during a phone interview with the Community News. "Art, like music, is about connecting emotionally."

ED KANON: "I remember Ace was pissed off about the fact that Peter wouldn't play"
From: Rockpages.gr

We continue our KISS special feature with the 27th interview of a KISS-related figure. This week, Ed Kanon, Peter Criss' long-time drum technician and the guy who replaced Peter behind the drums for a show back in 1997, tells us what he remembers from that experience! Here's an excerpt:

Rockpages.gr: You were in the very distinguished place –back in the April of 1997- to replace Peter behind the drums for the KISS concert in Columbus. Describe to us the whole experience and especially your feelings after the end of "Deuce"...

Ed Kanon: Well, it went really fast. We (the crew) were all set up, ready for the band to do sound check, and we noticed they weren't even in the building yet. We waited, and waited, and waited. Then the vans pull in. The band gets out, and heads to the dressing rooms. I notice there was no Peter. HHHHMMMMMM?????????? Doc (McGhee) walks up to me and says "Nice Goatee, SHAVE IT!!!!!!". Then says "Come on, we have to go to the dressing room" The first thing I thought was "Is Peter ok?" I got kind of scared. We walk into the dressing room. Paul is sitting there and says "We have good news, and bad news. Bad news is, Peter can't do the show. Good news is, you are." I remember at that moment, I could have freaked out, and probably ruined the whole thing, or don't even think about it until later, and just do it. I chose the later. I said ok. I thought about the beginnings and endings of all of the songs. I seemed to be ok with everything. I shaved, and started getting into costume. I remember Ace being really pissed off about it. But he ended up playing anyway. Tommy put my makeup on. I knew it would be alright, because I had played with them in sound checks, and a few rehearsals here and there, but never in a show setting with everything happening. Gene was nervous; I could see it on his face. I was cracking jokes with him to lighten the mood a bit. Paul seemed to be confident, or at least did a great job acting like he was. He seemed to be in good spirits. So, we are ready to hit the stage. Next, I remember right before the show. We are on the stage. The rumbling is happening. I'm looking down at the 3 of them, looking at me, in makeup. Looking and my hands and arms, that are covered in jewels from Peters outfit, and thinking, "WOW, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON??????" "Well, here we go." Deuce started, the concussion hit scared the shit out of me, and we're off to the races. I fucked up the beginning of "Let me Go", started it WAY to fast. But it was ok. We picked it right up. Next thing I know is we are most of the way through the show. I haven't played that long of a set in a long time. My arms were really tired. So, doing some arm yoga, I was able to loosen up and not hit so hard, and the adrenaline was wearing off. Next thing I know. It's "Rock and Roll all night", and it's the end of the show. It went that fast. Then Doc said "You're gonna look really stupid up there tearing your drums down in the make up." Doc is got a great sense of humor. They all do actually. It was a surreal experience to say the least.

Paul Stanley Custom Guitar
From: PaulStanley.com

Here's another update on Custom Paul Stanley Guitars from our friend Eric McKenna over at Boogie Street Guitars.

'RACING RED' USA Custom Shop PS5 Preacher!

It's here!

As discussed in our prior video I mentioned that Washburn Custom Shop Director, Terry Atkins, did a couple of our PS5 guitars up in solid colors and high gloss! And this Racing Red monster does not disappoint!

I saw the guitar at Washburn last week but somehow - it looks even BETTER here at BSG!

Dan did a great job photographing the guitar however - Red is a very, very tough color - maybe the toughest - to photograph digitally.

This guitar is RED. Racing Red. Not Orange. Not Burgundy. RED!

It's outfitted with Red/Black open coiled Seymour Duncans. A JB in the bridge and a '59 in the neck. It has black hardware including a TonePros bridge and Grover 18-1 with... of course...KEYSTONE buttons. It's the BSG WAY!

According to Super, they did this because they have devised an ingenious idea that will be unprecedented in order to get this CD into as many hands as possible.

"This CD is not about making money; it's about making kids and anyone else who has to live with the dreaded disease of addiction understand that being sober is the ultimate high." Don't let these two fool you. They came from nothing. Having worked odd jobs starting at the age of 12 picking apples in their hometown of Marion, NY, as well as digging ditches and working in the field of metal fabrication, these two have paid their dues with dead-end jobs. After realizing that there might be more to life than working long hours for little pay, the twins then went on to receive higher degrees of education which led them both to individually start their own successful firms in Chicago.

In fact, Super Star was one of the first 20,000 people in the world to receive the Windows 2000 MCSE certification. However, that career was short lived because Super Star wound up with a serious problem - a super drug addiction that nearly cost him his life. However, when asked, he claims he wouldn't change a thing about his past. "I am where I am today and helping all these people because I have been fortunate enough to come out the other side alive." Super Star is right; most do not.

Rare KISS Ikons Trading Card Up For Auction
From: KISSmuseum.com

One of the rarest of the new KISS IKONS TRADING CARDS is up for auction on ebay today - The PAUL STANLEY INSTANT WIN AUTOGRAPH CARD. One of only 50 made. If you want to have a complete set of the new KISS IKONS TRADING CARDS you don't want to miss your chance on this. Auction ends May 10th.

View the eBay auction here.

Seller's Description:

The Paul Stanley Instant Win Autograph trading cards - one of the rarest cards from the new KISS IKONS 2009 TRADING CARD SET. Only 50 of these cards were randomly inserted into packs. The front is as shown and has a Press Pass hologram foil stamp to verify it's authenticity. The back has an order form for redemption. You can fill out your name and address and send it in to redeem for a real autographed Paul Stanley photo. BUT WHO WOULD EVER DO THIS? The rarity of this card makes it worth much, MUCH more than the autograph. So here's how you can have you cake and eat it too: We will include the Paul Stanley autographed photo with the card in this auction. That way, you can have the autographed photo and still be one of the lucky few to keep this rare card in his or her collection without having to turn it in. How can we do that? Let me explain -

Our company, KISSmuseum.com had bought up a large amount of left over autographed items from the 2000 Butterfield's KISS Auction in Hollywood California, (Paul and Gene signed a large amount of photos, posters and auction catalogs for retail sale to correspond with the auction). We were contacted by Press Pass, the creators of the KISS IKONS TRADING CARDS and after an agreement, we supplied them with 50 of the Paul Stanley autographs, (as well as 50 Gene Simmons autographs). We still have some left over, so we are including one of ours with this auction. The Paul autographed photo shown here is from the exact same batch the ones being given away with the KISS IKONS Instant Win cards.

So, to be clear, you get the Paul Stanley Instant Winner card as well as the autographed Paul Stanley Butterfield's Auction Photo that is shown. The card is in MINT condition and it will be shipped to you in a professional hard-shelled acrylic trading card case.

This is the rarest card from this series that has been up on Ebay so far. Good luck!

Gene Simmons Family Jewels Returns
From: A&E

SEASON FOUR OF THE HIT UNSCRIPTED SERIES PREMIERES SUNDAY, JUNE 7 AT 10 PM ET/PT WITH A SPECIAL ONE-HOUR EPISODE

Legendary Rock God multi-hyphenate Gene Simmons and his unconventional family are back and better than ever for an all-new season of A&E's hit unscripted series "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" premiering with a special one-hour episode on Sunday, June 7th at 10:00 PM ET/PT. The 15-episode season kicks off with Sophie's sweet sixteen party, giving viewers an all access pass to the milestone celebration. When a case of sibling rivalry spirals out of control, Nick pulls on dad's heartstrings and his sense of theatrics to escalate the low key party she wanted into the blowout of the century, all to the dismay of shy Sophie.

In addition to Sophie's sweet sixteen, the new season will give viewers a behind the scenes look at the entire family's many adventures. From Gene's appearance on "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?," to Gene filming a Japanese monster flick, to Shannon preparing for a role in a roller derby exploitation film, to Nick getting his own apartment, to Sophie fending off ill-intentioned teenaged boys, viewers will follow the Simmons-Tweed clan as they set out to prove, yet again, why they are the most non-traditional, traditional family in America.

What's New In KISS Collecting
KISS Alive Costume Boots
From: KISSmuseum.com

Let me tell you; we were skeptical about these items when we first received press images of the new KISS ALIVE COSTUME BOOTS. The items pictured looked too good - too real - too professional, but let me tell you, we just got these in today and they look twice as good as they do in the photos! We were just floored! These are not cheap Halloween costume pieces, these are the real thing! Exact replicas of the KISS Alive Boots from 1975, painstakingly reproduced from the original patterns! The ONLY difference is they are not made of real, but vinyl leather. Other than that, the details are exactly the same as what KISS wears on stage!

The soles of the shoes are rubber, the platforms are a high quality solid material, the studs on Gene's boots and the eyes for the laces on Paul's are metal, not plastic. Material is all stitched together, not glued - nothing cheap. And there are the little details, like how the stars on Paul's boots are not silver cut-outs sewn onto the boots, rather the black outside "leather" has the star cut out of it with the silver showing through from behind - Exactly the same way Paul's boots are constructed. The cosmic ankle rings around Ace's boots are a soft yet shiny chrome material with soft foam padding underneath - the famous snake skin pattern of Peter's boots is there when you take a close-up look... exactly the way the real stage item is constructed. And like we said, the only difference is that the leather is fake. But sturdy high-quality fake leather. The boots can stand up on their own; they will not flop over.

Buying these boots is just like you would buy any other pair of shoes. Expect them to last many, many years. Each comes in three men's sizes: 9, 11 and 13. They should fit most adult males. If you are a size in between you can easily put tissue paper in the toe for a perfect fit. To top it all off, they come in their own box with amazing KISS graphics. You can see many more up-close photos at the link below:

KISS ALIVE COSTUME BOOTS are available at KISSmuseum.com
