Dec. 09 - Zeche, Germany - Bochum
Dec. 11 - Berlin, Germany - Huxleys
Dec. 12 - Frankfurt, Germany - Batschkapp

Ace Frehley is as iconic a fixture of the 1970s as Star Wars and Studio 54. With his towering silver moon boots, smoking guitar, and metallic greasepaint, the original lead guitarist of KISS has global, if not galactic image recognition. The Space Man helped launch KISS into the stratosphere of popularity with his walls of bar-chords and guitar solos that eschewed all-that Malmsteenian noodling and, instead, went for a more memorable, less-is-so-much-fucking-more, pentatonic-scale magic.
Ace Frehley was always the true musician in KISS, and the fans knew it. He also had, quite arguably, the coolest stage presence of any rock guitarist — ever. And while his cohorts in costumes, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, wanted to rock and roll all nite and sell merchandise every day, for Frehley, the bedrock of KISS was always the music, rather than the t-shirts, condoms, and yes, even the KISS coffins.
KISS began on the streets of New York in the early 1970s, amidst the same punk and glam scene that launched the Ramones and the New York Dolls. Frehley never lost site of his rock and roll roots. He left the self-appointed "Hottest Band in the World" in 1982, rejoined the group again for a hugely successful reunion tour in 1996, and departed once more, this time, apparently, for good, in 2002. Frehley's ongoing battles with drugs and alcohol over the years are the stuff of rock and roll cliché. His vices also caused seismic rifts between him and his KISS band mates — a fact for which he shows genuine remorse. Now clean for three years, Ace Frehley returns with his first solo album in nearly two decades, released on the anniversary of his sobriety. Anomaly, put out on his own Bronx Born Records, shows a more mature side to the Ace of Space. The ever-present Les Paul guitars still serve as the launch pad, but some of the lyrics on tunes like "A Little Below the Angels" find the guitar player more reflective, still looking to grow as an artist. The thirteen tracks on Anomaly are vintage Ace Frehley — an armada of electric guitars roaring from Marshall stacks. Stop Smiling sat down with the Space Man in Hell's Kitchen, New York City, to catch up on his current rocket ride.

They've been extolling the virtues of all-night rocking and daily partying for 35 years, and they're not done yet. Next Tuesday, the day after filling the TD Garden with its spectacle, releases its first album in 11 years, "Sonic Boom." Last week, the makeup-loving quartet learned that, 10 years after their initial eligibility, they made the nomination ballot for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We chatted with amiable guitarist-vocalist Paul Stanley last week as the band prepared to rock Cobo Center in Detroit, the scene of their first "Alive" album.
Q. Congratulations on the nomination. How are you feeling about it?
A. There's a long way between a nomination and induction. That being said, this is really something that I think is exciting. There is a very vocal segment of fans and rock fans who have wanted us in. And so for them I'm very, very pleased.
Q. What was the impetus for the new album, since you probably could've carried on successfully as you have until you retired?

Halloween arrived early last night, when the KISS Army invaded downtown Cleveland, Ohio, for a concert at Quicken Loans Arena. The show was the second stop of the KISS Alive 35 tour, following a sold-out two-night stand in Detroit Rock City. The trek celebrates the 35th anniversary of Alive!, the band's first landmark live album — one of RS' Greatest Albums of All Time ' which helped elevate the group from a New York makeup act to international rock icons.
With some luck, KISS will return to the city in a few months: Last week, after a decade of eligibility, the popular favorite received a nomination to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which is headquartered blocks away from Q.
The arena was dotted with convention-worthy costumes and fans in pedestrian fatigues and face-paint. Couples wore black-and-white Gene-and-Paul designs, dads and sons sported matching makeup, and an elementary schoolgirl looked so comfortable painted as Starchild you'd think she was at a Dora the Explorer Live! show.

Who's Next In The Hall Of Fame?
From: St. Petersburg Times
Posted: September 28, 2009
You can rip the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for a lot of things: thin archives, a staid treatment of a wild art form, the fact that it's in Cleveland. But you can't trash the foundation's taste in popular music: Peruse its honor roll, and while you might find a few omissions, you won't find any folks who don't belong.
Early next year, however, that might change.
Twelve nominees for 2010 induction have been announced. There are six first-timers: KISS, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Genesis, the Hollies, LL Cool J and Jimmy Cliff. There are six returning candidates: ABBA, the Chantels, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, the Stooges and Donna Summer.
Five of those 12 will be tapped for induction. The announcement will be made in January, and the ceremony will go down March 15 at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.
As far as I'm concerned, KISS is the only obvious choice here. Its contributions to rock, showmanship and totally awesome Halloween masks are considerable. Gene Simmons & Co. also have a ton of great songs. KISS advanced the art form of rock 'n' roll, and that should be the main criteria for inclusion.

Everybody got a chance to get an autograph and picture with the guitar legend. Ace constantly thank people from coming and waiting in the rain as he signed CDs, pictures, pinball machine items, thermoses and other KISS items. He answered all questions and shook hands.

KISS Come Alive At Tour Opener
From: Spin

Friday night the KISS army invaded Detroit Rock City. Suburban families, pony-tailed bikers, cleavage-flaunting cougars, and packs of 40-year-old fathers bulging in their aged acid-washed jeans all painted their faces black and white for the opening date of KISS' U.S. tour at the old-school Cobo Hall. Their mission: To rock. HARD.
Mission accomplished.
Thousands of fans sported tour t-shirts from the many KISS concerts Cobo has hosted over the past three decades, and dozens stood tall on silver platform shoes, their black wigs adding another three inches of glam power. The KISS army was congregated in the Motor City's most dated arena — a cold concrete slab used to showcase military vehicles at the North American International Auto Show — for one of the last concerts ever to be held there before it's demolished, a touching point for the band members themselves, who recorded much of their classic Alive album there in 1975.

There was fire.
There was an explosion or two, followed by flashing red sirens.
And we're not talking about a Detroit freeway. We're talking about KISS' return to Cobo Arena on Friday night.
KISS renewed its love affair with Detroit Rock City by kicking off its North American tour with the first of two shows at the venue where most of its history-making "Alive!" album was recorded in 1975.

Detroit Rock City came alive Friday night as KISS kicked off their latest tour in the venue that made them famous (and the venue they made famous): Cobo Arena.
It was there where the legendary costumed rockers recorded "Alive!" the 1975 live album that put them on the musical map. And on Friday, in front of a fervent sold-out crowd of around 12,000, the band reprised the majority of "Alive!" during the 20-song, 2-hour and 10-minute show that acted as a mutual love fest between KISS and Detroit. The band performs again at Cobo on Saturday.
"Cobo Hall!" frontman Paul Stanley shouted early in the set Friday. "For us, this is the holy land. This is where it all started."

Ace Frehley Interview

Thanks to Kymm over at 60 Cycle I was very lucky to get the opportunity to interview none other than the Space Ace himself. With Anomaly officially launched in the UK yesterday Ace has some very exciting news for UK fans!
AF Hey Paul! How you doin?
PF Hi Ace, I'm not bad, how are you?
AF I'm great!
PF I don't know if you're aware of KISSin UK, but it's one of the few UK KISS websites around and we have a lot of Ace fans over here on the site who have been patiently waiting for your album. I've been listening to Anomaly and have to say I love it - it feels like it's a continuation of your previous work. What was it like completing your first album in almost 20 years?
AF Oh, I'm not a stranger to the studio you know, but it was a wonderful experience, you know, as I had complete creative control. I wrote all the songs pretty much, produced it, played all the guitars and sang all the vocals so it was nice you know.
PF Its a great album, why did you choose Fox On The Run as a cover?
KISS Is Alive!

People! KISS is "Alive!"
And then some.
The Clown Princes of Rock were in Detroit Rock City Thursday night, shooting a new video and conducting last-minute preps for a very special twin set of shows today and tomorrow to honor the 35th anniversary of the band's landmark double-live platter, "Alive!"
Working with famed director Wayne Isham, the band shot close-ups for "Modern Day Delilah" (from new album "Sonic Boom," set for release Oct. 6) with a hyped Motown crowd of lucky extras at Cobo Hall, the famed venue where the storied "Alive!" album was recorded in 1975.
The album is the monumental disc that vaulted the band to multi-platinum superstardom upon its release, and the one that initiated the band's love affair with the first city to truly embrace four guys from New York who wore face paint and donned outrageous costumes.
KISS Is Alive Once Again In Detroit
From: Chicago Tribune
Posted: September 25, 2009
More than 30 years after their seminal live album "Alive!" was recorded in part during a show at Cobo Arena in Detroit, the facepainting rockers are back with a new CD and North American tour, which kicks off Friday — in Detroit Rock City, of course.
"I expect the reception of homecoming heroes, but the truth is, it's really us sharing ... an intimate moment with a city and the people who were pivotal in helping to make KISS what it is," lead singer Paul Stanley said of the show and another on Saturday — both at Cobo.
Stanley, bassist Gene Simmons, guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss put out a few studio albums in the early 1970s without a great deal of success.
It wasn't until 1975's "Alive!" hit record-store shelves that KISS blew up.
Stalwarts Stanley and Simmons are joined these days by Tommy Thayer on guitar and Eric Singer on drums.

It's going to get sentimental in Cobo Arena this weekend.
Really loud and sentimental.
With its Friday-Saturday stand at the old Detroit arena, the rock band KISS will return to the scene of its most famous concerts: the 1975 shows recorded and photographed for the multiplatinum album "Alive!"
KISS booked the new dates as a farewell to the vaunted venue, which will be converted into exhibit space as part of Cobo Center's nearly $300-million expansion authorized by Gov. Jennifer Granholm in July.
"We figured, before they take the rock 'n' roll soul out of the building, how about we go in there one more time and shake it up?" says guitarist Paul Stanley.
KISS Returns With A Vengance
From: Metal Hammer
Posted: September 25, 2009
The hottest band in the world returns with a vengeance!
Let's cut straight to the chase; KISS have shoehorned everything you love about them into SONIC BOOM. Gene Simmons lets out a massive "Woah Yeah!" on the intro to "Hot and Cold", Paul Stanley whoops like a maniac throughout and, sad as it is to say, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss are not missed one bit. Tommy Thayer nails the lazy style that Ace brought to the fold perfectly and Eric Singer can actually drum.
There's not a ballad in sight, no song has a one-word title that's a girl's name and every song sounds like it should have more explosions than a bad day in the middle east. "Never Enough" sees Paul Stanley at his flamboyant best. A stonewall KISS classic from the off, it's a neaon bomb of a track that's more uplifting than a truck full of happy pills. "Danger Us" nails the KISS strut and swagger perfectly and, unlike most of the band's albums in the last 30 years, SONIC BOOM weighs heavier on the killer than it does the filler.
SONIC BOOM is an album that was made to be blasted right after the work bell on a Friday afternoon. It's the aural equivalent of celebrating a last-minute screamer for your football team. If you weren't a fan before, SONIC BOOM won't change your mind. But if you're one of the disciples of KISStianity, it's time for you to get moist right now.
You wanted the best? You got the best. KISS have delivered.

Never thought I would see the day but KISS has been nominated for the R&R Hall Of Fame. I am shocked! Now I stress nominated, they are still not voted in! Now it would seem pretty impossible with the other candidates that KISS would not be voted in, but lets' remember, this is the same group that had not even considered KISS for the Hall and they have been eligible for 10 YEARS! To me, even if they go in, it is beyond offensive that they were not even on the ballot for 10 years, much like they did not put VH or Sabbath in first year eligible. Can you imagine these bands had to wait years to even be considered!?!?! No matter what you think of KISS past, present or current, you simply can not argue the influence and impact they have had. How on earth are they just now showing up after being eligible since 1999? Just total disrespect for hard rock. How is Metallica in, but Priest ignored? The list goes on and on. Rush and coutnless others still being ignored. But without question the most glaring omission, KISS, is now in the running. If they don't get in against some of the others up this year it will be the biggest joke of all. Funny how Red Hot Chili Peppers are on the ballot first year, and KISS waited 10. Total fucking joke! Very interesting to see what happens here, and even more interesting to see who gets put in from KISS and how that will all work. There have been many lineups of the band over the years but clearly the original four are what is key here. Needless to say getting them all out there together will be a challenge. Keep in mind KISS did VH1 Rock Honors a few years ago with Tommy as Ace and Ace in the tribute band. What happens for the Hall? And what about Peter, who has expressed his feelings loudly about KISS and it's current version? Do any of the members besides the originals get in? Does it turn into a debacle like the VH induction? Going to be real interesting to watch and I'll ask Ace his thoughts tomorrow night when he's on the air with me (listen live at http://www.q1043.com). At the end of the day it will finally be a great victory for all KISS fans to see this happen, but it will be tainted if not done the right way. And it will never sit right with me they made them, and so many other legends sit on the sideline to be considered.
Q&A With KISS Co-Founder Paul Stanley
From: Free Press
Posted: September 24, 2009
KISS will launch its North American tour with a pair of Cobo Arena shows this weekend, the latest chapters in the long, strong relationship between the band and the town it dubbed Detroit Rock City.
They're the biggest KISS shows in Detroit since the band opened its 1996 reunion tour at Tiger Stadium.
This time, founders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons are joined by guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer as KISS revs up for the Oct. 6 release of "Sonic Boom."
It's the first KISS album since 1998's "Psycho Circus," recorded as the reunited lineup was starting to disintegrate. (The band launched a farewell tour in 2000.)
KISS Salutes Detroit
From: Detroit News

KISS' love affair with Detroit — and the city's relationship with the legendary costumed rock outfit — has lasted longer than many marriages.
The group recorded the bulk of its "Alive" album here, kicked off its reunion tour at Tiger Stadium in 1996 and gave the city one of its most enduring anthems and monikers, "Detroit Rock City."
Friday and Saturday, KISS rekindles its relationship with the Motor City when it returns to Cobo Arena, the site of its landmark 1975 "Alive" LP.
"It was clear from the beginning that Detroit just got us," says frontman Paul Stanley, on the phone earlier this month. "They understood us instinctively and intuitively. Before we were headlining anywhere, we were headlining in Detroit."
Paul Comments On Hall Of Fame Nomination
From: Billboard.com
Posted: September 24, 2009
KISS is a first-time nominee among a dozen finalists for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, according to a list released this morning by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.
Five of the 12 nominees will be chosen for induction from ballots cast by more than 500 music industry voters. An announcement of the inductees is expected in January, and the Hall's 25th Annual Induction Ceremony will take place March 15 at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City. Broadcast plans have not yet been announced.
This year's big story could turn out to be KISS, which has been eligible since 1999 but has famously been snubbed by the Hall's nominating committee and has made some harsh comments about the organization in the past. But the group's Paul Stanley recently noted that a Rock Hall induction would cause he and his longtime KISS partner Gene Simmons to consider which of the group's members they'd like to have enter with them.

My New York: Ace Frehley

Along with his fellow New York natives in the band KISS, Bronx-born guitarist Ace Frehley ignited a rock revolution in the '70s, inspiring a nation of young headbangers to pick up guitars with a mix of slick licks and (literally) fiery showmanship. Now the man whose biggest hit was "New York Groove" has just released his first solo album in 20 years, "Anomaly," on his new label, Bronx Born Records. While the times may have changed, his crunchy guitar remains as biting as ever. This is his New York.
1) American Museum of Natural History, Central Park West at 79th Street "I used to go a lot when I was a kid. I loved just walking around, seeing the crazy exhibits behind the glass and the prehistoric people. I always found that fascinating, with the dinosaur bones and the giant whale hanging from the ceiling. That was always larger than life for me."
2) Trash & Vaudeville, 4 St. Marks Place, at Third Avenue "My buddy Jimmy [Webb] works there. I always stopped by to get interesting pieces. It's a fun place to shop."

I had the pleasure of touring Cobo Hall in Detroit one last time on Saturday night (Sept.19).....
I was filming a documentary called "Let's Go Cobo" about the history of that arena....
As you all know, this was the birthplace of "KISSteria" & a very important venue to all the original members of KISS....And, if you are not aware, Cobo Hall will be gutted & transformed into a auto showroom in the next few weeks....The End of an era.......Thanks Cobo for all the memories.....Ace
P.S. While we were filming inside Cobo, we heard a crash....as we were driving away.....we saw this.... A cab driver started the demolition on the Cobo box office early I guess!!!.....Weird.

Todd Schorr: Peter and his then wife (who is on the cover with the other models) came over to my studio a couple of times. He was a nice, down to earth guy...very friendly.
Rockpages.gr: How come you didn't work with him again?
Todd Schorr: I didn't work for Peter after that for who knows what reason. I was doing a lot of different work at that time, including Time Magazine covers and covers for other bands like AC/DC.

Bruce Kulick Touring Australia
From: KISSonline.com

Bruce Kulick is coming back to Australia armed with his first new solo album in five years - BK3 - and a brand new live show that promises to delve into the depths of material from his twelve year tenure with KISS and his work in the last thirteen years as a solo artist. BK3 is Kulick's third solo release, hence the title.
Australian fans will be among the first to hear the album, which will be released ahead of its worldwide debut at the concerts. BK3 features the soaring guitars and signature riffs that Kulick is known for, along with an array of special guests that include former Kiss band mates Gene Simmons and Eric Singer, Knack lead vocalist Doug Fielder, and Nick Simmons (Gene's son and rising star in his own right) making his vocal recording debut.
Bruce promises the shows will be worth the wait and will feature a plethora of Kiss tunes from the eight albums he recorded with the band between 1984 and 1996. Hits like "God Gave Rock and Roll To You II," "Crazy Crazy Nights," "Forever," and "Tears Are Falling" will be nestled alongside many rarities never performed live by KISS themselves.

Ace Frehley Releases First Album In 20 Years
From: Reuters
Posted: September 17, 2009
These are heady times for KISS fans. The hard-rock band is gearing up for the Oct. 6 release of its first album in 11 years, "Sonic Boom", and will hit the road to mark the 35th anniversary of its breakthrough concert album "Alive!"
And then there's the band's former guitarist, Ace Frehley, who on Tuesday will release his first solo album in 20 years, "Anomaly". The date is also significant because it marks his third year of sobriety.
But don't look for the two camps to work out some cross-promotion efforts. Frehley was asked during a fan Q&A at the Grammy Museum on Monday whether he would join KISS on stage for the first time since he left the band in 2002. (He first left the band 20 years earlier.)
"I haven't gotten a call," Frehley said to laughter. "I'm not holding my breath. They took one road, I decided to take another. It's a little late in the game for me."
Sonic Boom Review
From: Rockeyez.com
Posted: September 17, 2009
Eleven years since we last heard a new KISS record and the wait will be over shortly. "Sonic Boom" hits the shelves of Wal-Mart on October 6th here in the US. First off I love the commercial promo for the Album saying it's the best KISS album in 30 years. KISS fans please don't be deceived by a marketing ploy; make up your own mind. KISS are marketing geniuses and know the fans are a dedicated bunch, but get real! I myself was a KISS fan back in the day and I still love the vintage days of KISS which I consider unmatchable but I broke out of that mold because there are so many great bands out there and I opened myself up. I myself made many great friends collecting and I will always remember those great times and I feel I will give a true review here of the new CD.
I read one review saying they don't miss Ace and Peter which must be a joke. Granted both Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer are talented but where was everyone when Tommy was in BLACK N BLUE? It's called blind to the eye. Anyway enough rambling let's get to the new CD.
The opening track "Modern Day Delilah" that is sung by Paul is a good song with some cool leads by Thayer and has a good vibe. I wouldn't put in a class of classic KISS but I'm sure fans will like the track. Track two "Russian Roulette" sung by Gene is another good song but the truth is it's a typical Simmons song with a moving chorus.
Bruce And Ace At The Grammy Museum
From: Bravewords.com

Legendary rock guitarist ACE FREHLEY discussed his first new album in 20 years, Anomaly, on September 14th before an intimate audience of 200 in the Grammy Museum's Grammy Sound Stage.
Former KISS guitarist BRUCE KULICK was on hand, and has issued the following: "Monday night I was invited to see Ace Frehley at the Grammy Museum in downtown Los Angeles. I heard about the new museum, and the idea of a drop party (meaning the "day" the record comes out) for Ace obviously made me excited to attend.
Ace came out the capacity crowd of 200, held in the acoustically perfect theatre to his very loyal and excited fans. He looked great, and during the interview was funny and reflective talking about how his new Anomoly CD.
I enjoyed the songs that were introduced and played through the big JBL system. I especially think that Bob Santelli, the executive director who the evenings interviewer, did a great job picking the songs to discuss. Ace and the team that helped create the CD, answered the questions in regards to the music, lyrics and the inspirations for the songs.
Afterwards, the fans were able to purchase the CD and meet Ace. I was able to get this great pic of us courtesy of Mark Weiss, who has worked with KISS and most recently Ace's new disc artwork. Mark currently has a gallery of his pix on display at the Andaz Hotel, which was the famous Hyatt House on Sunset (WEISSGUYgallery.com).
So that was a fun evening downtown, and I wish Ace his best on his new release. I really enjoyed what I heard, and some stand out tracks for me are 'Fox On The Run' and 'Genghis Khan'. More news coming on my BK3 release and other events I have attended lately (Kulick.net)."

Ace Frehley Celebrates Being Three Years Sober As He Releases His First Album In 20 Years.
From: nrk.no
Posted: September 16, 2009
The former KISS-axeman last released a solo-album, "Trouble Walkin'", in 1989. Since then, he has toured with former bandmate Peter Criss, rejoined KISS, recorded and toured with KISS, left KISS for the second time and once again battled alcoholism.
But this week Ace Frehley returns with a vengeance, releasing his new album "Anomaly" two weeks before his old band returns with their first record in 11 years, "Sonic Boom".
On the day of release, NRKs Roy Hilmar Svendsen sat down with the original Spaceman for a chat on all things "Anomaly", his daily battle with his old demons, touring, old songs.
And yes, of course, Tommy Thayer.
NRK: Congratulations on your new album, "Anomaly". The day is finally here, after 20 years. How does it feel?
KISS Sets Off Multiple Sonic Booms
From: ClassicMetalRevisited.com
Posted: September 16, 2009
I wasn't too keen on writing a review for "Sonic Boom." The last time I reviewed a KISS studio album ("Psycho Circus") it went all wrong, dreadfully wrong! It is because of that farce that I was desperate for KISS to not call it a day with that album being their final studio recording ("Nothing Can Keep Me From ‘Puking' On You," from the "Detroit Rock City OST," and "Do You Remember Rock And Roll Radio," from the Ramones Tribute, don't count even if the latter is an excellent recording). What was wrong with "Psycho Circus?" Musically, little, I still like the songs that I liked then, and despise the ones that I didn't. It's simply a matter of what it represented, the falling apart of the band within and fakery, rather than the ghost players (which isn't particularly surprising). I also hated the merchandising tie-in which seemed to be more important than anything else, even if it was stupid (IMO). Whatever, ten years later Paul Stanley decided that KISS would make a new studio album. I fell to my knees and offered thanks. For nothing else, "Psycho Circus" will not be the final KISS album. Thank you.
Invariably, comments have been made by the band about what the album would sound like. Gene: "If you're a fan of our stuff from about 1977, you'll feel right at home." Paul told contact music in late 2008, "It's going to be very much a vintage, classic, 70s KISS album without much regard to what's happened since then; it's back to the roots." Well, the album is, and it isn't. While the band may have recorded it in analogue, rather than digital, you know modern techniques have been used. There seems to have been an approach to record the album in a more vintage manner, but is that enough to make it "classic sounding?" Probably not. Is drawing elements from KISS' long career enough to make it "classic sounding?" You betcha, and that's where the home-run is hit. It's not "Love Gun," but the audio fingerprint takes you on a trip through "Psycho Circus," "Revenge," "Crazy Nights," "Asylum," "Creatures of the Night," "(Music From) The Elder," "Love Gun," "Rock And Roll Over," and more. The band combines the best elements from throughout their career, adding new flourishes, in order to create a vibrant beast.
Gene Simmons Talks New KISS Sonic Boom
From: Billboard.com
Posted: September 15, 2009
Gene Simmons says KISS fans can expect "new outfits, a brand new stage and millions more (dollars) put into it" when the group begins its KISS Alive 35 tour to promote "Sonic Boom," its first new album in 11 years, on Sept. 25 in Detroit
"That's just the history of KISS," Simmons tells Billboard.com. "Simply put, any band you go to see for the same ticket price, you know KISS is going to give you tenfold more. That's just a statement of fact."
Simmons says that besides the usual blood, fire and very tall boots, the focal point of the new production will be a video screen "that's literally as wide as the entire stage, so there ain't a bad seat in the house. We've got extra people on cameras and stuff like that, so there'll be multi-media in back to increase the visual impact as well as the sonic impact."
KISS: Sonic Boom (Review)
From: WeWillRockYouBlog.com
Posted: September 15, 2009
For those of you who have been living on another planet for the past few months, KISS is celebrating its 35th anniversary by releasing a new album entitled Sonic Boom in October, and the band has been hyping the new disc as the best KISS has recorded since the heyday of its classic lineup with albums like Rock And Roll Over and Destroyer.
I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical when I first heard that. After all, KISS is a band whose output has been, uh, "somewhat uneven" over the years, to put it diplomatically, and KISS hasn't exactly been shy about over-selling its work in the past, whether it was deserving or not.
Okay, okay, I admit it ... I was wrong. It turns out Sonic Boom really is the album KISS fans have been waiting for all these years. From its no-frills production (no apparent Pro Tools trickery here) to its uber-classic put-your-fist-in-the-air rock anthems, Sonic Boom is the most satisfying album by a "classic rock" artist I've heard since ... honestly, since I don't know when. Sadly, it's kind of accepted that most bands that are 35 years into their career are going to release new work that is in no way comparable to the albums that made their legacy. Sonic Boom destroys that pre-conception by delivering an album as raw and vital as the best of KISS' back catalog.
Frehley's Fabulous Return
From: theWeekender.com
Posted: September 15, 2009
Former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley dropped his new CD this week, and in doing so, he solidifies his place as one of the coolest and most colorful characters rock music has ever seen. Titled "Anomaly," it is the legendary musician's first solo album of all-new material since 1989's "Trouble Walkin'." And though the Frehley faithful surely would have liked to have had this record 15 years ago, having Frehley back with KISS from 1996-2002 certainly helped take away some of the longing. Now, however, Ace is solo once again and is again reminding the hard-rock nation why he was - in a group full of stars - one of the most popular members of one of America's most popular bands.
Ace Frehley, in simplest terms, is an ass-kicker. He's an old-school guitar god. And his new sound is big. Very big. The guitars scream. The riffs are infectious. It's a little Clapton, a little Page and a little Hendrix, yet with a modern edge and explosive production.
And it sounds better loud.
The CD's opening track, "Foxy & Free," is also one of the album's best tracks. Here, Frehley glides and grinds through a gritty groove and immediately sets the tone for what is to come: a very powerful, balls-out rock 'n' roll album. Again, the guitars are torrid, with a fine sense of both flash and flair, and Frehley - often cited as one of the most influential guitarists in rock history - shows why he's earned such adulation.

After 20 long years, former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley is back with a brand new solo album entitled Anomaly. Like Gib, I bought my copy on the way into work this morning. Unlike Gib, I popped the CD in immediately and have to say that Ace has most certainly delivered the goods. Not only are there classic Ace riffs and rock tunes aplenty but there are a few surprises where he branches out a bit musically - and, in most cases, it works. If you're an Ace or KISS fan, you won't be disappointed. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to play with my cool pyramid! Maybe I&39;ll wear it like a hat today at work...

An Oshawa city councillor says he's tapping in to his list of contacts to try to secure an additional KISS performance after tickets for the band's October show sold out within minutes.
Councillor Robert Lutczyk is making calls "first thing" today following a weekend of watching residents line up for days for tickets only to leave empty-handed.
"It's the first on my to-do list, making calls on my network that I've developed just to see. It might be difficult, but it's very possible," Lutczyk said.
KISS, the heavy metal rock group, had left Oshawa off their initial list of stops on this fall's tour, despite the city winning an online contest to host the band. After media reported fans' outrage, the group announced an Oshawa stop.

Oshawa wanted the best and they sure reacted in record numbers. The October 7 concert sold out in record time. All tickets were gone by 10:25am. Tickets went on sale last Saturday morning at 10:00am. A few hundred fans; some waiting in line for as long as two days flooded the box office. Approximately 100 people were served and received tickets on Saturday morning. Disappointed fans are encouraged to keep checking the website, as tickets may be released closer to the show date. Cortney Ager, Marketing Manager at General Motors Centre commented that a press release will be forthcoming if indeed addition tickets for sale will be added. "All of the publicity that has surrounded this campaign has generated a tremendous 'spotlight' on our venue, and we are very thankful for that."
Special ticket bundles that have only been available on the website http://www.generalmotorscentre.com/ since Friday evening and therefore, many people may not know are available are: the $1100 Meet and Greet Experience, and a $325 Premium VIP Package, which does not include a meet and greet. Both are near sell-out but, have a couple seats available.
When asked if the KISS concert in Oshawa has made the impact for the GMC facility the council and residents had hoped, in relation to attracting a greater number of artists and touring groups to the facility, Ms. Ager commented, "I believe this has absolutely put the General Motors Centre on the map for future business. The impact will follow once the show has come and gone. When the promoter (AEG) experiences our capabilities, services, and professionalism to handle such a large scale event, I truly feel that will open doors for new business in the future."

Greetings Earthlings! Come aboard, it's time to take a 'Rocket Ride' back to 1978...never mind, our captain, the one and only 'Space' Ace Frehley has decided to alter course and blast us beyond 'Outer Space' and 'Into The Void' of 2009 with his first solo album in 20 years, Anomaly. It will be unleashed upon Earth on September 15, 2009 via Ace's own Bronx Born Records. The release date is of great significance as it also marks the 3rd anniversary of Ace's sobriety. Strap in tight for this journey with Ace Frehley, it's guaranteed to be a surreal one. Blast off in 5...4...3...2...1...
We have blast off as "Foxy & Free" begins with an explosive nitro-fueled riff sure to cause a genuine 'Sonic Boom' to your ear-hole. Within this cut it is abundantly clear that sobriety is a great thing for Ace, his singing and playing are better than ever. I really dig the chugging riff and trippy vocals that lead into the blistering solo. Next up is the first single released to radio and iTunes, "Outer Space." While the cut wasn't written by Ace, it fits him perfectly. It showcases some really nice fretwork and a chorus that sticks in your head, you can't help but sing along to it. "Pain In The Neck" is a song many guys can sympathize with if ever scorned by the opposite sex. I know after the past month, I can! If it wasn't for the fact he clearly references a woman in the lyrics, I'd have thought this song was an ode to former bandmates Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley.

Loud. Electric. Hot. Fun. Exciting. And loud.
In a night that was perhaps in some ways reminiscent of his KISS' days at Coventry circa 1973, Ace Frehley played an "intimate" concert at the Viper Room in Los Angeles on Saturday evening as part of the Sunset Strip Music Festival.
Ace turned in a compact energy-filled hour and change set, filled with KISS classics, a pair of 1978 Ace solo album gems and songs from his forthcoming album, Anomaly. Ace's playing was solid and fluid throughout and he was ever the jokester on this night, tossing in a few laughs for good measure.
Following an introduction from comedian George Lopez (of all people), Ace and band -- Scot Coogan on drums, Anthony Esposito on bass and Derrek Hawkins on rhythm guitar -- ripped into a fiery rendition of "Parasite." Saddled with his new custom Les Paul -- featuring trademark lighting inlays, a headstock emblazoned with the Anomaly album art, and a sapphire blue finish -- Ace and band thundered away at this KISS classic with a renewed fervor. Barely coming up for air, the band then launched into "Deuce." In a club setting marked by a capacity crowd of 250 standing-room only people, this song combination was a lethal one-two punch.

Mike Judge Talks About Gene
From: Slashfilm.com
Posted: September 10, 2009
Slashfilms recently interviewed Extract producer Mike Judge. Mike discussed many of the stars of the film, including this excerpt where he talked about Gene Simmons.
Obviously Gene Simmons is known for his humility, but I'm also sure that he's had his fair share of run-ins with lawyer to prepare for this role. And these greedy characters appear in your work. Gene's character, he reminded me of one of Hank Hill's friends on King of the Hill, who is a car dealer and he’s been swindling Hank on cars for years.
Mike Judge: [big laugh] Oh yeah, I like that one a lot. [laughs] Yeah, that was [producing partner] John Altschuler's idea, that that guy has been ripping Hank off for years. That was a fun one. Gene Simmons had done King of the Hill, but I had never met him in person, that was over the phone. But I'm so out of the loop that I thought people wouldn't recognize him [out of his KISS makeup]. I didn't know how huge his reality show was, I was just thinkin', "Oh, this will be cool, people will go, 'who is that?'" But instead they go, "Oh, Gene Simmons!" That's funny.
Ace Is Back
From: IHeartGuitarBlog.com
Posted: September 10, 2009
"The album was 20 years in the making," Ace Frehley says, in reference to the years that have elapsed since Trouble Walkin' in 1989 and the September 15 worldwide release of Anomaly. "I started tracking in 2007. I tried to make it as close to my first solo as possible because most of my fans cite that as their favourite record, y'know? I did an interview the other day and I ask the guy, who had heard the whole album in its entirety, what he thought of the record, and he said 'You could call it 'Son of,' you know? So hopefully I think I achieved that."
Ace Frehley, 2009 edition is a more sober man than the Ace of 1989 or even 1999, when Ace was back in the KISS juggernaut supporting the controversial Psycho Circus album. Although that CD was the first original KISS studio recording to feature Ace since Music From The Elder in 1981, Ace's contributions were, by his own admission and much to his dismay, rather minimal. Today though, with KISS about to release their own album, Sonic Boom, Ace has his eyes fixed firmly on the future. Y'know, just what you would expect from rock's preeminent guitar-slingin' spaceman.
One thing I really like about Anomaly is that even though you used Pro Tools, it doesn't sound like a 'Pro Tools album.' It sounds like it could have been recorded 20 years ago, 30 years ago...
Anomaly Review

Ex-KISS guitarist, Ace Frehley is back with his first solo release in 18 years called "Anomaly." One of his well publicized objectives in recording and writing this CD was to recapture the "vibe" of his fan favorite 1978 solo debut release. He most certainly achieved that goal. "Anomaly" most certainly has Ace returning to his vintage signature sound and style.
We had the priviledge here at GlamMetal.com to talk with Ace and discuss his new release and much more. Check out our conversation below and check back here at GlamMetal.com for more updates on Ace Frehley.
GlamMetal: First of all, I want to congratulate you on your new CD, from what I heard of it, it's absolutely mind-blowing and this is coming from a life long KISS fan. You're back and I absolutely love it. I'm sure you're getting that response from your fans.
Ace Frehley: I put my heart and soul into this record. I started tracking in 2007, it's been a long process, in the middle of writing, in the middle of recording; I decided to do a tour in 2008. I went over to Europe twice and Canada then came back, finished it up and went out to L.A. to mix it. It's everything I wanted it to be and more.
GM: Did you have any goal to try to recapture the vibe that you had on your 1st solo record?
AF: Yeah, absolutely. I re-examined that record and try to recapture some of the feeling and musical textures and the vibe of that record. I try to get into the same mindset.
GM: When are you going to hit the road to support this? Do you have any plans yet?
AF: I believe we're hitting the road beginning of October.
GM: Wow, that soon.

It's been twenty years and we finally have it; the new ACE FREHLEY solo CD "Anomaly". To tell you the truth after "Trouble Walkin'" back in 1989, which was a fantastic release I could never imagine Ace Frehley moving on without Richie Scarlet and John Reagan buy his side, but time told the story. Ace finally decided to move on and release a new solo CD. Now I've been a KISS fan from the beginning not like some others who say they always loved KISS. Bullshit. Did they get mocked in school for wearing the KISS t-shirts and during Halloween wearing the grease paint? Most were closet KISS fans and only came out of the woodwork when it benefited them. Real KISS fans dedicated their time, their souls and their life to bringing the world of KISS to the heights of success. Legions of KISS fans around the world traveling to KISS conventions, people like Bill DeMild, Joe Marshall, Steven Campbell, Bill Baker and many, many others were at the forefront and I know I am missing tons more but these are the people that did the job of many.
'Til this day Ace Frehley will always be remembered for his trademark guitar style as new and old try to imitate this legends' sound but there will always be only one Ace, and he has put his touch once again on this, his latest work.

KISS Sonic Boom Review
From: Brave Words
Posted: September 7, 2009
With Sonic Boom, KISS has stopped chasing the next hot trend and their lust for a number one single. Instead, the band has focused their efforts on making the best possible 'KISS music' and by and large have succeeded.
Combining the brash swagger of their '70s catalogue with the pop sensibilities of their '80s adventures and the raw power of their '90s era, Sonic Boom delivers an album that all KISS fans can call their own. 'Say Yeah' is your classic arena rock sing-along with Paul Stanley delivering the upbeat vocals with enthusiasm. 'Yes, I Know (Nobody's Perfect)' finds Gene Simmons in his Rock 'N Roll Over glory days while 'All For The Glory' (a track that could fit comfortably on Dressed To Kill) is the album's big revelation. The song features Eric Singer on his very first lead vocal and shows that his talent goes beyond pounding skins. 'Never Enough' is another upbeat track with Paul Stanley leading us into '80s KISS pop territory while 'Russian Roulette' has that Simmons' snarl that brings us right back into Creatures Of The Night glory.
The band tackles '90s KISS on 'Danger Us' with another great Stanley vocal. 'When Lightning Strikes' is a straight ahead rocker and is the track that most fans will be curious about since it features Tommy Thayer behind the mic. The guitarist doesn't disappoint and it underscores the fact that Kiss has once again become a unique collection of four distinct personalities. If the band can continue down this path, fans will clamor for more new music and will demand that the songs be played live.
Overall, KISS has done the unimaginable. They've delivered an album that can proudly carry the KISS moniker and should satisfy fans from all the band's various eras and incarnations.

Bobby Alessi: "Paul said: 'Why Don't I Put Some KISS Guitar On It?'"
From: Rockpages.gr
Posted: September 7, 2009
We continue our KISS special feature with the 37th interview of a KISS-related figure. This week, Bobby Alessi....Here's an excerpt:
Rockpages.gr: Lots of KISS fans recognize your name by the link of you album "Driftin" with Paul Stanley. How did you get in touch with him?
Bobby Alessi: The first time we met Paul, we were in living in LA. Peppy Castro introduced us but we found out that Paul was already into our music which seemed interesting since he was a hard rocker. We became good friends; we'd all go roller-skating in Venice beach. I remember one beautiful day, it was Billy, I, Paul and Peppy, there was a street performer singing "Under The Boardwalk" and we decided to back him up with four part harmony. We caught a lot of attention and those were the days when Paul was still unknown without his makeup except for the rose tattooed on his shoulder. Some girls noticed it and realized who he was and before long we had to leave because a crowd of KISS fans looked like they were getting ready to attack.
Rockpages.gr: Paul is playing guitar and sings background vocals on the excellent track "You're Out Of Love". What do you remember of the recordings of that specific song?
Bobby Alessi: As I said we became good friends and kept in contact when we were in New York, I remember going to his apartment and seeing one of our records on his turntable, wow. That night his girlfriend gave me a ride downtown, it was Carrie Fisher who was filming the movie "Star Wars" she played Princess Leia. Paul would visit us at the recording studio while we were recording our new album and we had a rock song, or at least our version of rock and Paul said, "Why don't I put some KISS guitar on it? He got a sound out of the amp we didn't know it could make. Then we asked him to sing on it, he has a great voice, not just for the rock but he's written some beautiful ballads, he has a great melodic sense.

Gene Simmons Invites You to Pee on His Face...in Urinal Cake Form
From: PrefixMag.com
Posted: September 7, 2009
To promote the umpteenth and unneccessary season of his reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels, Gene Simmons has allowed his face to be affixed to talking urinal cakes in seedy bathrooms around New York. I'm not sure what the cakes are supposed to signify other than that people would apparently love the opportunity to urinate on Gene Simmons, and A&E realizes this would be wish fulfillment. But I think I'd be spooked if a urinal cake started talking to me, especially if it asked me to watch a show starring the dude I'm peeing on.
Simmons Won't KISS Butt
From: New York Post
Posted: September 5, 2009
MUSICIAN, TV star, bestselling author and "Extract" co-star Gene Simmons has mastered just about everything except humility. He waxed philosophical to The Post about Beavis, Butt-head and the meaning of life.
How did you get involved with "Extract"?
"They called up and said, #9;You play an a asshole LA lawyer.' I said, 'I'm in.' They said, 'Do you want to see a script?' I said, 'No.'"
What do you think of lawyers?
"I'm pro our lawyers, but I hate your lawyers. I don't like ambulance chasers very much. I tried to be as big of an asshole as I could be because this guy is an ambulance chaser."
What's your philosophy of life?
"My mother is actually the most sound existential philosopher I've ever met. Her point of view is more profound than Kierkegaard or Nietzsche. She says, 'Every day you're above ground is a good day.'"

KISS's CD Blitz
From: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Posted: September 5, 2009
How many KISS Mr. Potato Head kollectibles are you going to need? For many fans, the answer will be two of each -- one set for you and one for the kids to play with, and lose all the pieces.
The KISS Mr. Potato Head -- sure to be the most entertaining piece of merchandise the band has ever issued -- will take its place in the Kiss Korner at Walmart on Oct. 6 as part of a merchandise blitz that accompanies "Sonic Boom," the band's first album in 11 years.
The pitch for merch has intensified, but KISS is taking it to the next level. The KISS Korner will include T-shirts ($5), a fleece blanket ($10), limited edition Kiss M&M candies, catalog CDs ($5-$9) and makeup kits, masks and wigs (at select Walmart stores, $5).
Walmart Isn't Cutting Korners To Kapitalize On KISS
From: bnet
Posted: September 5, 2009
In its battle of the bands with Target, Wal-Mart is getting serious.
Or perhaps delirious, but, no matter what, its latest entertainment initiative looks to be fun and productive.
Wal-Mart revealed yesterday that it would be mounting what it refers to as KISS Korners in its electronics and Halloween aisles to support its exclusive distribution of the band's new album Sonic Boom.
Among the featured items involved are Mr. Potato Head versions of all four band members in full makeup.
That's not all, of course, even if the Mr. Potato Heads are likely to be a couldn't-top-them-with-sour-cream marketing and sales success, particularly among hard-core KISS fans. The multifaceted KISS Korner merchandise initiative will be in place when Sonic Boom releases on Oct. 6 exclusively at Walmart stores, Sam's Clubs and Walmart.com. The release certainly counts as a value proposition, given that the eleven-track CD is part of a three-disc set that also features a new generation KISS greatest hits CD and a live DVD shot in Argentina during the band's South American tour, all for $12 bucks. Clearly, Wal-Mart is making a pricing statement with its recent entertainment products, one that may pressure other retailers.

KISS And Say Hello
From: Billboard.com
Posted: September 4, 2009
KISS ends a 10-year absence from Billboard's rock airplay charts, as "Modern Day Delilah" debuts at No. 26 on the Heritage Rock survey (viewable every other week in the print issue of Billboard magazine).
Not a bad birthday present for the legendary group's Gene Simmons, who turned 60 last week (Aug. 25). (Paul Stanley celebrates the same milestone Jan. 20).
KISS' Billboard chart history dates to April 20, 1974, when its self-titled set first appeared on the Billboard 200. The act will log its 33rd charting title following the Oct. 6 release of the Walmart exclusive "Sonic Boom," the band's first offering of new material this decade.
KISS' last album, 1998's "Psycho Circus," became its highest-charting on the Billboard 200 (No. 3) and produced its first airplay chart No. 1. The title cut led Heritage Rock for four weeks and Mainstream Rock for one frame.
In a press release, Simmons sticks to the group's trademark understated and unassuming nature. "'Sonic Boom' may be the best new record we've done since (1976's) 'Destroyer'! It is 'Rock and Roll Over' meets 'Love Gun.' The world's biggest retailer had better get ready for the hottest band in the world and hire more cashiers before October 6th!"

Sonic Boom Best New KISS CD In Decades
From: Winnipeg Sun
Posted: September 3, 2009
What didn't go into KISS's new album Sonic Boom seems almost as important to Gene Simmons as what did.
"There are no ballads," the demon bassist growls down the phone from L.A. when asked about the band's first studio disc since 1998's Psycho Circus. "There are no keyboards. There are no synths. There are no girl background singers."
Of course, there's also no Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. But a lack of original members didn't stop Gene and longtime partner Paul Stanley from taking an old-school, back-to-basics approach to their 19th album.
The disc is due for release Oct. 6. It's definitely their strongest work in decades. Here's a song-by-song preview:
Anomaly Review

The air is crisp here in NJ and football season is near! Love this time of year. Love the Fall, love the weather, and love the Giants and the NFL. Outside of Christmas Labor Day weekend is my favorite for those reasons. Its also a great time for new music. Been listening to new Ace Frehley, Dream Theater, Heaven & Hell, UFO and more. Great new stuff out or coming out, so support new music from classic bands. They need it also.
Speaking of new music I have the final product with artwork of the entire new Ace Frehley album now. Ace showed me the cover art a couple months ago in my studio. Its cool to see it in the final product. The packaging is really cool. Its a cardboard sleeve that assembles into a pyramid. It also has a small Ace poster in it, credits and a cardboard oversleeve. In an total class move Ace dedicates the CD to the late Eric Carr and Dimebag Darrell. Dime was obviously a huge Ace fan and had his image tattooed on his chest. No doubt Dime would be floored by this to say the least!
As for Eric, it is just awesome that Ace kept him in his thoughts like this and kept his memory alive by listing his name right on the back of the CD. So many times people say they will keep someones memory alive after they pass and forget to do so. Ace did not forget and if you had the pleasure of knowing Eric you would know why. He was a special guy and I still think of him all the time. Even though Ace and Eric were only in Kiss together for a short time they really did bond. So much so that when I started working with Ace in the late 80's Eric would often come to rehersals and jam. He actually wanted to tour with Ace at one point just before he got sick but that would not fly with the Kiss camp. Eric was the best and its so cool of Ace to have done this.

KISS Sonic Boom
From: Classic Rock Magazine
Posted: September 2, 2009
KISS and hyperbole go hand in hand. Always have done, always will. Gene Simmons is talking about this album like it's his second coming - which will doubtless please the insatiable ladies in the, er, Ladies Room. Paul Stanley has got in the act too, calling Sonic Boom the best record KISS have made in 30 years - putting it on a par with 1979's illustrious Dynasty.
Of course, you can trust us at Classic Rock to boldly cut through the bluster and reveal the brutal, honest truth. And our verdict is... we agree. Sonic Boom is bloody brilliant.
KISS's first new studio album in 11 years delivers the goods in spectacular fashion. It's like waiting for a Tesco van to turn up outside your home and instead a Chieftain tank arrives, packed full of fillet steaks. If you read our preview on the Classic Rock website, you'll doubtless remember the comment: 'KISS seem to have combined the best of all their eras into a single winning package.'
So you get echoes of Rock And Roll Over - where the Flash Four added a neat commercial sheen to their hard rockin' sensibilities - in the music as well as the album cover. Hints of the sprawling grandeur of Creatures Of The Night. Tinges of the chest-thumping teaze of Crazy Nights. So it goes on.
Yet Sonic Boom is no determinedly retro package. It's purely the sound of KISS playing to their strengths.
Gene Interview From WDHA
From: KISSonline.com

Face-painted rockers KISS have joined the growing list of bands partnering with Walmart for an exclusive release: The upcoming SONIC BOOM -- the band's first album in 11 years -- is a three-disc set featuring the new album, a remastered greatest-hits CD, and a DVD shot in Argentina on the band's most recent tour. To sweeten the deal (and potentially frighten more Walmart shoppers), the album will be sold from "KISS Korners" set up in stores, featuring band gear and collectibles at recessionary prices. A Gene Simmons-flavored Mr. Potato Head? Yes please!
I can hear you saying, "Yes, but what does SONIC BOOM sound like? Will it allow me to rock and roll all nite?" Assuming people are still into this crazy circus of a band - last season's American Idol finale indicated they might be -- will KISS find as much success as Sugarland and AC/DC, both of whom rode a Walmart deal to No. 1? Only time will tell. For now, you can preorder SONIC BOOM at Walmart.com. Or you can go on a total rant about how much you hate big box stores. But please, do it with your tongue hanging out, at least.

Star Brothers To Bike 300 Miles To Celebrate New KISS Album
From: Star Brothers
Posted: September 2, 2009
Want to ride with Super Star and Rock Star's Cycle Boom tour from Los Angeles to Vegas?
Would we expect anything less from these two die-hard KISS fans? Like the rest of us, Rock Star and Super Star can't wait for the KISS album Sonic Boom to hit Wal-Mart's store shelves. To celebrate the release of KISS' latest effort and Super Star's newfound sobriety, Rock and Super intend to bike between Wal-Mart stores in Los Angeles and Las Vegas beginning Oct. 6 in - you guessed it! - full KISS costume and makeup.
When asked if he has ever done anything like this before, Super replies, "Nope, but I haven't been this sober this long either. I'm not just doing this to celebrate the awesomeness of KISS's latest release, but also to raise awareness about the addiction problem among our youth. KISS was there for me right at the beginning of my attempt to get clean. Just having the chance to work with so many members of the KISS family on our upcoming 'Serenity' CD been a major help in keeping me on track. It shows that if you can get sober, you can live out all of your dreams, as I am doing."
Super Star will make the 300-mile KISS-inspired bike ride, while his twin Rock Star rides shotgun. "I'm going to follow him and get media coverage for the cause along the way," Rock says. "I think he's nuts but I am very proud of what he has accomplished in this last year. Besides, Rock Stars aren't meant for biking so I get a pass this time around."
If any members of the KISS Army want to join Super Star on this venture, contact him at super@superstarsuperstar.com. The more KISS fans who participate, the more attention to the album as well as the importance of sobriety. It has also been recently learned that Rock Star is going to be giving away a guitar from his collection autographed by Paul Stanley somewhere between the start and finish line. Details on this will be announced soon!
The brothers' We Are One Foundation has set up a donations page at weareoneonline.org for anyone who would like to sponsor Super Star on this very sobering journey. A portion of the proceeds will go to the foundation's campaign to fight youth addiction. Says Super Star, "I am truly doing this to give all the little KISS fans who need help a chance to face their demons head on and conquer them early in their life."
We wish you the best of luck, Super Star. We'll be watching!
Lenita Erickson: "Gene Has Written A Song For My Next Project"
From: RockPages.gr

We continue our KISS special feature with the 36th interview of a KISS-related figure. This week, Lenita Erickson....Here's an excerpt:
Rockpages.gr: Back in 1996, you released an album that features a Paul Stanley song. Also, Paul is playing guitar on one song. Would you care to tell us what do you remember from that collaboration in the studio?
Lenita Erickson: Sure...I love Paul! He liked what I was doing and talked to Curt about playing a track and/or writing a song...so he did both!
Rockpages.gr: In the same year you toured with Bruce Kulick on guitar. What do you remember from that tour and are there any "unpublished stories" or a specific incident that stands out in your memory?
Lenita Erickson: Hahaha...I'm not telling any of the good stuff!!! Nah, just jokin'! Bruce is so f'n talented that working with him brought my vocal ability to a whole new level! We had a great time on tour together and have remained great friends. In fact, I will be tapping his talents for this new record I'm working on now. Gene has written a track for this project which I'm extremely excited about!
