Glam rockers KISS have revealed they'lve gone gaga for Lady Gaga.
In an interview with Britain'ls ITN, they'lve compared the Lady to a Madonna of the 21st century.
"She'ls done what Madonna did back in the 'l80s," says drummer Eric Singer.
"She'ls always changing it up, keeping it interesting. To me that'ls what the spirit of entertainment and rock and roll is all about."
The one with the tongue, Gene Simmons says that she "gets visual on stage and is in your face" and that "she'ls the most exciting thing I'lve seen in a decade."

Not exactly trading cards, but similar - Each foil pack is the same size as a trading card pack, but inside is one KISS Rock Tag and one KISS Sticker. KF: That kind of segues into the inner controversy surrounding the band during "All Systems Go." You have been quoted as saying "the writing had been on the wall" following the recording of the album and that Mark was having his leaving-member option picked up by Chrysalis Records while the Invasion was still on the road in support of the album. Can you recapitulate what was going on with the band at this time?
BR: Once the recording was done, things began to unravel a bit. We were searching for new management during the ultra-critical stages of a new record coming out...there was a lot of uncertainty -- real or imagined -- about Vinnie's role in his own band, and a lot of subtle divisiveness that began to set in early on.
As I recall, though, the real line in the sand came about when the new manager guy began to set things up, financially and logistically, where the three of us -- Mark, Dana and I -- were more like sidemen than band members. So instead of having one cohesive unit where everyone -- band, management and label -- is on the same page, you had Vinnie and his manager (who would go on to do some pretty deceitful shit along the way) in one camp, the three of us (who probably didn't handle things so great) in another, and the label (with their own hidden agenda) in yet another. It was a clusterfuck of epic proportions.
But ya know -- not to get too philosophical on you -- I'm sure you've heard that old fable about the six blind men standing around an elephant. They are all asked to reach out and touch the elephant, then describe what they think the elephant "looks" like, based on what they "feel." The guy near the trunk says, "An elephant is long and curvy, like a snake." The guy near a leg says, "No, an elephant is tall and thick like a tree." The guy near the tusk says, "No, an elephant is smooth and sharp, like a spear." Then the guy near his side says, "You're all wrong. An elephant is just a huge mass, like a wall." And so forth. Of course, they are all correct to some degree, based on their limited perceptions.

Upon his departure from KISS in 1984, Vinnie Vincent took some much-needed time off. Partly to process the roller-caster ride he had just been on with the hottest band in the land, and partly to plot his next move. "I took the time out just to think and to be sure. And to plan a new course," said Vincent in 1986. "I was looking for the ultimate band. I was looking for everything that I couldn't find in KISS."
In late 1984 while KISS were moving on with "Animalize," Vincent moved on too, working around the clock writing and recording material and crystalizing the foundation for his new project.
The "ultimate" cast was assembled. Vincent hooked up with the multitalented Dana Strum, who would not only play bass but also a key role as co-producer, arranger and engineer. Journey alumnus Robert Fleischman, who co-wrote "Wheel In The Sky" and possessed an unprecedented vocal range, was brought in as lead vocalist in early 1985. To complete his vision, Vincent knew he needed a killer player on drums. Enter the unknown Bobby Rock, who during his audition dazzled the trio with a combination of intricate rhythms, solid grooves and dazzling chops.

The Band's Younger Fans
In 2004 we did the Rock The Nation Tour, and then we didn't do any kind of full-length touring until last year in Europe, and that's where we really noticed the resurgence. All those shows did extremely well for us, and we noticed the age demographic had completely changed. All of a sudden there were a lot of young kids, and when we'd ask, "Hey, how do you know about KISS?" - thinking that maybe their parents were KISS fans - a lot of them said, "We found you on the Internet through YouTube"…or through Guitar Hero…or Rock Band. So it's the kids themselves discovering KISS. And next thing you know, they go out and buy the CDs or videos. And then next thing you know, they want to come see the band live!
Surviving The Music Business
I look back now at all the drummers who've attained longevity in the music business…it's not an easy task. Being a journeyman musician is different from being in a band. If you're not a songwriter, or you're not the principal owner of a successful band, to survive in this business is very hard work. A lot of drummers talk in interviews about their workout regimen and "I'm working on this ostinato thing where I'm playing this with my left hand," and that's all great and fine. But the majority of people will never be able to use that kind of technical ability unless they create some kind of niche for themselves. Ultimately most players just want to have a career in music, whether it's as a studio musician or being in a band with some success, where they can just play for a living.

The KISS rocker's A&E series, "Gene Simmons Family Jewels," is quickly approaching its 100th episode, and his relationship with girlfriend Shannon Tweed is still intact, his kids Nick and Sophie are behaving themselves, and the media hasn't unearthed some dark family secret that's been hidden for years.
With a history littered with Jessica Simpsons and Nick Lacheys, Hogans and Gosselins, having a clan survive life in front of the camera is a feat worth celebrating.
"Those families were destined to be torn apart. Television cameras just happened to catch it," Simmons told the News. "My life is an open book. What you see is what you get, and I don't care."
"Gene Simmons Family Jewels" returns for a fifth season this Sunday at 9 p.m. on A&E with a special one-hour episode that focuses on Tweed and a personal health scare. When she finds a lump in her breast, the family rallies around her to get through a difficult time.

The legendary rock band's enigmatic singer has also been pursuing a career in the art world, when he's not on tour or recording.
Mr. Stanley, 58 years old, started selling his colorful abstract paintings at the Wentworth Gallery a few years ago. Last year, he garnered more than $3 million in sales. He has two new gallery shows opening in Florida this weekend.

1. Max Fleischer's Superman
These original animations by Max Fleischer were like little movies and so realistically drawn. Seeing them as a kid, my jaw would drop. Like Fleischer, other major cartoonists like Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Bob Kane who did Batman, were almost always exclusively Jewish and created these kinds of superheroes with secret identities. The secret is that Superman is really Jewish.
2. Michigan J Frog
He first appeared in a fifties Warner Bros short (One Froggy Evening). A construction worker finds a century old suitcase in a building's cornerstone and out comes this frog bursting into song with top hat and cane. With dollar signs in his eyes the man puts him in front of an audience but the frog doesn't sing and he loses all his money. So the frog's put back into the suitcase and the situation repeats itself in the 21st century. It shows the greed in man.

KISS returns to Europe in the spring with their massive SONIC BOOM OVER EUROPE tour after two years on the road with their mega successful ALIVE 35 tour. Ace Unmasks In Scranton

A great rock concert can stand out in your mind for various reasons. I've been to quite a few of them, and though some were utterly forgettable, some are still burned deep in the heart. Seeing Paul McCartney live can actually leave you awestruck, and artists like U2 and Bruce Springsteen seem to take you to another place during their live shows. In some ways, it's almost spiritual.
I love those artists. Always have. And it's no secret to some of our readers that I'm also a pretty big KISS fan. I've seen them about 30 times in concert and can honestly say that when it comes to live bands, they remain among the best. Ace Frehley, the group's original guitarist, is also still an all-time favorite. And it was exactly 25 years ago this week that Frehley gave one of the most memorable shows I've ever seen. And it was right here in Northeast Pennsylvania - in Scranton - at the old West Side Theater.
I was 17 years old and it was the spring of my senior year in high school. Myself and a group of good friends all loved Ace, but since he had left KISS a few years prior - right around the time we were finally old enough to start going to their shows - we'd never seen him play live. I can still remember the day the show was announced, and how we were all calling one another and were absolutely over-the-top excited. Within minutes, we were all running off to our little part-time high school jobs, making sure we put in for the night off from work. I called one friend who lived quite a few miles away and said I was on my way over to pick him up. He still jokes to this day that right after I called, he threw on Frehley's 1978 solo album, and before he'd heard even one song, I was already out in front of his house laying on the horn.

A scan through the songwriting credits on KISS studio albums over the years gives way to a colorful cast of names: Peppy Castro, Desmond Child, Stephen Coronel, Sean Delaney, Bob Halligan, Holly Knight, Adam Mitchell, Stan Penridge, Jim Vallance, Diane Warren, Mitch Weissman, and the like. Add Jean Beauvoir to that mix as well.
Beauvoir, a multitalented wunderkind musician, came into the KISS fold in 1983 as the band was transitioning into the non-makeup era. Having just come off "Lick It Up" and the departure of Vinnie Vincent -- a strong album featuring all songs written within the band, including a robust 8 co-writes from Vincent -- Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons would again look to outside writers to help spur the creative process and songs that would comprise "Animalize" and "Asylum."
A member of the controversial punk outfit the Plasmatics, Beauvoir grew up a KISS fan and in a twist of fate ended up befriending Stanley on the New York club scene. The friendship would ultimately turn into a collaborative relationship as Beauvoir ended up co-writing three songs with Stanley and contributing bass and background vocals to both of the aforementioned albums.
KissFAQ tracked down Beauvoir to talk about his recollections of working within the KISS camp, his time with the Plasmatics, his own career and current projects, and more.

Shot from the first few rows, it doesn't look like there was a bad seat in the house this club was so small!

E1 & KISS To Create New TV Series

Leading independent studio E1 Entertainment has finalized a production and development deal with legendary rock band KISS. E1 will tap the worldwide enthusiasm for the KISS brand, collaborating with founding members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley to create a comedic half-hour kids television series that galvanizes the band's iconic personas for its young fans.
"We're honored to be involved in carrying on the KISS legacy," comments Frank Saperstein, Senior VP of Kids and Animation for E1. "It's wonderful to collaborate with the creative forces behind one of the greatest rock bands of all time and unquestionably one of the most recognized worldwide."
E1 has snagged the KISS brand as it eclipses its roots, building energy in new family and youth media outlets. KISS's role as the face of Dr. Pepper, their significant presence during Super Bowl XLIV, and their appearance on the 2009 "American Idol" finale, which reached over thirty million viewers, has made the make-up and leather-clad giants a household name for kids and families today. The KISS tradition continues to grow generation after generation transcending age, race and creed.

A KISS Club Experience

KISS recentely performed at the O2 Club in Islington. It was an amazing experience to see KISS playing a venue that small. They used Led Zeppelin's 'Rock and Roll' as intro. No "You wanted the best.." and then the guys just walked on stage, it was quite surreal.
Paul chatted to the crowd, then they went into Modern Day Delilah. It was very loud, but the sound was just great. The crowd were singing (well ok, shouting) every word to every song they played, right back at them.
A truly unique experience, it will go down in KISStory! I was so close that in the photos I took there"s no zoom used on any of them. I really was THAT close!

Paul: The Show Left Us Breathless

Last night's KISS show in London was cut short because the Co2 canisters used to blast confetti during Rock and Roll All Nite made breathing nearly impossible. Both the band and fans upstairs and in front of the stage were having difficulty breathing from the concentration of Co2 in the air.
Paul reveals, "Once the confetti cannons went off, we barely made it off stage. None of us could breathe or catch our breath. Each of us thought we were the only one until we saw each other. Pretty scary and there was no way we could continue. We came out for the encores but couldn't get past one. Still, all in all, an amazing night that left many breathless!"

Well, you've got to start somewhere - Eric Singer drums for Olivia Newton John in the video "Culture Shock." Eric looks right at home in this 1985 production with his red and white checkered shirt and teased- out hair. Although this is a pop song, Eric still shows his same signature skin-pounding, stick-twirling drumming style that he carries with him today! Really worth checking out, it's interesting to see our current KISS drummer in a different light.

Larry Harris: Neil was a great marketing genius. He also was a gambler who bet on things that others would never do- No one wanted KISS in the beginning, Donna Summer was turned down by everyone. He was Mike Todd, PT Barnum rolled into one very talented driven guy.

Today's episode of Germany's "Hallo Deutschland" contained even more footage from KISS' appearance on "Wetten, Dass..?" The show went behind-the-scenes with fans as they formed a giant live KISS logo, interviewed the band, and also showed what happened to Paul's guitar, smashed at the end of KISS' performance...
Heavyweight world champion boxer Vladimir Klitschko proudly took it home... autographed by the entire band!
