Drummer Allan Schwartzberg Talks About Recording With KISS
From: Bravewords.com
Posted: October 28, 2010
BraveWords.com: The other major rock artist you worked with is KISS.
Schwartzberg: "Yes, that was through Bob Ezrin."
BraveWords.com: You've played on a lot of KISS tracks. You started off on Gene Simmons' first solo album.
Schwartzberg: "Yes, we went to The Manor in Oxford, England. We lived in the house and he was going out with CHER at the time. So, Cher and Chastity (as a little girl) were with us. We made the album using the entire Manor house. We had cables strung everywhere. We couldn't see each other, but we were all connected by phones. I thought it was a great creative record. The producer was Sean Delaney and he was a super creative guy. He invented the make-up for KISS."
BraveWords.com: He co-wrote a lot of their greatest songs...
Schwartzberg: "Yes, exactly. He was absolutely brilliant."
BraveWords.com: You also worked on drummer Peter Criss' solo album.

Gene: "All Is Well"
From: KISSonline.com

So, Miss Tweed and I were at LAX... we got some Decaf Coffee and some eggs... and there I am munching and taking a few sips... and then, I feel this rush of heat from my feet up to my head... and then apparently I blacked out.
I woke up in a nearby hospital. I was told I passed out due to dehydration, lack of sleep, and just pure exhaustion.
I spent a night at the hospital and found, to my surprise, half of my left eyebrow literally fell off... I must have hit the ground hard. I don't remember. So, there I am being stitched up, eating hospital food, and itchy to get back to work.
I'm back home. All is well.
I've been getting lots of emails and calls asking if everything is fine. Yes. Thank you. All is well.
KISS With The Dutch Band "Babe"
From: Ricky
Posted: October 26, 2010
Hey KISSasylum.com, I just found an envelope that had a few cool shots in it and I figured I share them with you!
The "Twix" girls were a Dutch pop act back in the late '70s, called "Babe" who always lip-synced to tape and needless to say their music sucked Donkeyballs! At least Eric seems to like them, (or one of them).
The second photo is of Eric Carr as he walks to dress room in Leiden, Holland '80. NO ONE has this shot! Hope you enjoy these!

Samantha Fox Still Has Fond Memories Of Dating KISS's Paul Stanley
From: ContactMusic.com
Posted: October 21, 2010
Model-turned-singer and actress SAMANTHA FOX will always be grateful to KISS star PAUL STANLEY for showing her a great time during their brief fling in the late 1980s.
The Crazy Crazy Nights singer fell for the former topless model after meeting her in a New York recording studio, where she was recording an album with hip-hop act Full Force, and invited the busty Brit to tour with him - as his lover.
The romance fizzled out when Fox returned to Europe and lived as a tax exile in Spain - but she'll always look back at the fast fling she had with her own rock hero.
Gene Simmons Battles Anonymous Group After New DDoS Attacks
From: Techworld.com
Posted: October 21, 2010
KISS bassist Gene Simmons has started an unwise war of words with the shadowy anti-copyright group believed to be behind a recent spate of DDoS attacks on industry organisations.
During the high-profile attacks a fortnight ago, Simmons' personal website and that of a record company he runs were successfully targeted by the so-called Anonymous anti-copyright group associated with the 4Chan message board.
The group picked on a variety of industry targets, but Simmons recent comments on piracy probably made him a target too good to ignore.
Lessons Of Career Branding From Gene Simmons
From: Examiner.com
Posted: October 19, 2010
It may seem like a little out-of-the box thinking, but if you watch or read interviews with Gene Simmons, co-founder of the 70's mega band KISS, certain aspects of his business philosophies can be applied to branding yourself as a professional in your field. Although he can be perceived as sometimes arrogant, selfish, extreme, but yet a vulnerable family man, Simmons hasn't reached his platform of success by abandoning his beliefs. If you are a job seekers or strategizing for your future, here are some fundamentals to apply to building your brand as demonstrated from one of entertainment's most highly successful entrepreneurs.
First and foremost he assumes responsibility and ownership for building and safeguarding his brand
During the past month at the MIPCOM convention in Cannes, France, Simmons discusses 'Gene Simmons' as a brand and the responsibility he assumes to sustaining that brand for the future. He states, "We have something to sell and we want to make people understand what it is. I'm in a band but there's no reason I can't be in a brand. This is a business. It's up to you. You have an inferred fiduciary duty to your own butt to make sure you maximize every potential and minimize any exposure and what that sorta means is we all have to be smarter today than we were yesterday."

Tommy In Oregon Music Hall Of Fame

Saturday, October 9th, 2010 Black 'N Blue was proudly inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame. The ceremony and party at Portland's Roseland Theatre included dear friends, family and a ton of B 'N B fans. A fantastic introduction by Peter Tashjian, son of our beloved manager Garo, told the story of how in 1983, five irrepressible young rockers (barely out of high school) made their way to Hollywood to take their shot at the big time. After our introduction, induction and receipt of OMHOF plaques, we jumped onstage for a 30-minute set of B 'N B faves, including "Hold On To 18", "Miss Mystery" and "Nasty Nasty" among others. It was a great feeling to get together with Jaime, Pete, Patrick and Woop and let the good times roll again; and to celebrate all things Black 'N Blue!
Bruce Kulick Talks About KISS
From: suite101.com

Famed for their make-up, outlandish attire and elaborate live shows, KISS remains one of the most iconic rock outfits of all time.
Formed in 1973 by bassist/vocalist, Gene Simmons, vocalist/guitarist, Paul Stanley, lead guitarist, Ace Frehley and drummer, Peter Criss, the band, with various line-up changes, has continued to thrive ever since.
KISS "Unmasked"
In 1983, KISS - at the time consisting of Simmons, Stanley, Vinnie Vincent (who had taken over lead guitar duties from Ace Frehley in 1982) and drummer, Eric Carr (the replacement for original sticksman, Peter Criss in 1980) - famously "unmasked" live on MTV.
Unknown Covers: God Gave Rock 'N' Roll To You

It's time to tell you about a song you didn't know was a cover, again. Which means of course, facing people who did know so they can roll their eyes and cuh! "I thought everyone knew that!" And this time, we're looking at a stadium rock classic in 'God Gave Rock 'n' Roll To You.'
You probably remember this song from 'Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey' as performed by KISS. One of the ways that the band attracted attention to themselves around this time was to get out the cotton wool balls and take all their make-up off, leaving everyone to coo about how painfully ordinary they looked.
However, the song was originally released in 1973 by Argent, which had some rather famous people behind the kit themselves.
Gene Simmons Websites Forced Offline After Downloading Comments
From: NME.com
Posted: October 16, 2010
KISS bassist Gene Simmons saw two of his official websites forced offline recently by online group Anonymous.
The long-tongued musician had made comments about how companies in the music industry should act tougher against individuals who illegally download music, seemingly inspiring the wrath of the group, which is linked to the 4chan.org forum.
Anonymous managed to crash Simmons' sites Simmonsrecords.com and Genesimmons.com for a period before they returned to the worldwide web, reports the Guardian.
Simmons had said: "The music industry was asleep at the wheel, and didn't have the balls to sue every fresh-faced, freckle-faced college kid who downloaded material. And so now we're left with hundreds of thousands of people without jobs. There's no industry."

Hello everyone! Sorry for the delay in getting you all the groovy pix and info on my latest journeys, but to be honest it has been a whirlwind of excitement.
Let's go BACKWARD this time and start with this past weekend. I had an amazing gig that was at a Vineyard in Glen Ellen, CA. The Doobie Brothers manager has a charity event every year at his wine making place, and what a line up was booked on Saturday! The Doobies, Cheap Trick, GFR, War, and The Turtles. Everyone knows I am a HUGE Cheap Trick fan and the stage is very intimate at the this make shift venue, so check out these pix of everyone close up, on stage and backstage. What a great vibe and an amazing time we all had. Everyone hanging around and giving high fives to each other. I wish all the gigs were so much fun. I was right ON stage with Cheap Trick when they performed, and that made for some great photos! And btw, all the bands played great, and GFR really did a strong show.... I had a monster guitar tone!
The next morning I flew directly to the Hollywood Collector show, which is one of the biggest autograph shows on the West Coast. The show features mostly TV and movie stars, but this one had some musical guests. Since I could not attend on Saturday, they had me up front next to the Dukes of Hazzard's John Schneider. What a cool guy! Even though Sunday was the least busy of days, I had many fans lined up to meet me. I also had a great time seeing Mickey and Peter from The Monkees, and my good friend from the Fantasy Camp, Spencer Davis.
Going backward again, on the day I arrived in LA from my wonderful trip to Australia I was asked to be a guest on "That Metal Show." Being a real trooper, and a fan of that show, I was thrilled and no jet lag was going to prevent me from attending the show. Eddie Trunk and his partners Jim and Don know everything about rock and KISS of course, so some interesting things were discussed besides my BK3 CD release. Phil Anselmo from Pantera and Down was a blast as well, and George Lynch was also in attendance playing for the crowd. It airs on Oct 30th on VH-1 Classic. Be sure to watch!

Simmons To Students: "Be A Rockstar"
From: CMCforum.com
Posted: October 14, 2010
Gene Simmons, bass player and co-founder of KISS, spoke in Pitzer's Benson Auditorium on October 9th. In his presentation, entitled "The Medium and the Message", Mr. Simmons discussed his life and his philosophy on achieving success.
Simmons explained that he and his mother immigrated to the United States from Israel at the age of eight, and that he didn't know a word of English at the time. Over the next fifty years, he went on to found one of the most successful musical acts in history as well as a merchandising empire worth more than $500 million annually. As Simmons joked "We have everything from KISS condoms to KISS caskets. We get you coming and going." While so many performers and music fans seem to be concerned with the concept of "selling out," he proudly pointed out the myriad of products that have borne the KISS logo over the past thirty years and explained that there is no shame in utilizing one's economic assets to their fullest extent.

Lynda Carter's Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy With KISS & Bette Midler
From: ComicsAlliance.com
Posted: October 12, 2010
For most pop culture aficionados, Lynda Carter is best remembered as the star of the "Wonder Woman" television series from the mid-70s, but she's been involved in several other projects, including a series of variety specials that aired in the early '80s. And it is on one of those that Carter produced what is unquestionably the most baffling, mind-blowing and generally insane moments of her career.
Wonderland-Site.com has unearthed video of 1980s "Encore," which would already sound crazy for being an hour-long variety show that featured guest appearances by Merle Haggard and Tom Jones (who sadly did not collaborate on what would've been the world's strangest version of "Fightin' Side of Me"). The crown jewel, however, is a sequence in which Carter performs a medley that includes her covering both KISS and Bette Midler. And when you watch the video, it'll be the craziest thing you see today.

Peter Criss called into Eddie Trunk's radio program, "Friday Night Rocks," tonight to discuss his bout with breast cancer and upcoming American Cancer Society walk. Thus far, donations in support of Peter's walk have reached more than $7,000.
Criss also commented on his current projects as well.
"I did finish 13 tracks.... 10 of them are pretty much done, although now I have to go put vocals on them," said Criss regarding his rock album. "[It's] up in the air.... I've been shying away from it because I won't do it if I don't really feel it. And I'm going to put everything I've got and own into it. This October month is killing me because I am doing all of this cancer stuff.... Every time I do go down [to the studio] and listen to it, I go, 'Jesus Christ, this is so damn good. I have to finish this.'"
"The book will happen when it happens," said Criss regarding his autobiography. "I work on it; I don't. I work on it; I don't. But I know I'll do it...I'm just right now really wrapped into this."

Simmons's Strict Rules For His Kids
From: Wenn.com
Posted: October 8, 2010
GENE SIMMONS is adamant his children will never "go off the rails" because they wouldn't dare to disobey his super-strict parenting rules.
The KISS star has two kids, Nick, 21, and Sophie, 18, with his longtime partner Shannon Tweed and has brought them up to be extremely well-behaved.
Simmons admits he is a formidable force as a father, and prides himself on keeping his kids grounded.
He tells Britain's Daily Record, "My kids are both wonderful human beings. Nicholas is 21, Sophie is 18, they are both straight-A students, charming, well-behaved - because they are not allowed not to be. It is as simple as that."
"They are not allowed to go off the rails... The phrase 'wait until your father gets home' is good. Parents should never act like a friend to their children."

Lydia Criss and other upper West Side residents voiced a chorus of concerns at a public meeting Tuesday night about turning a landmarked West 68th St. townhouse into a high-end temporary crashpad for the rich and famous.
Criss, who lives directly across from the swanky building, said the partying and the limousines parked in front would create more noise than a KISS concert.

Peter Criss: Surviving Cancer
From: Backstageaxxess.com

When it comes to the most influential drummers of all time, a list couldn't be compiled without the name Peter Criss. The original member of KISS has been out of the band for about 7 years and has recently fought the biggest battle of his life in battling breast cancer. Peter has been very vocal in his battle with this horrible disease and talked with us about how he managed to overcome it. He is currently involved in his first charity walk for the Bosom Buddies/Twin Peaks Team of Point Pleasant on behalf of the 2010 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer on October 17, 2010. Our discussion primarily focused on his involvement with this charity and talked about the trials and tribulations of his battle with breast cancer. Let's see what this rock and roll icon had to say in his talk with Backstageaxxess.com.
Gus: Many people may not be aware that you had breast cancer, so I want to start from the beginning. Tell us how you found out and what was your reaction to being diagnosed with something like this?
Peter: Well, I've been getting good at this because I've been doing it a lot, so it's interesting when you do interviews. You do them and do them and you start repeating yourself. This is incredibly serious. I was on the dark side for a while. I go to the gym periodically. Actually, I go religiously.

Rock and TV star Gene Simmons told the MIPCOM delegates that branding is everything and the TV industry needs to better embrace that. In an entertaining MIPCOM conference session moderated by TBI deputy editor Peter White, Simmons said the TV business needed 'a kick in the pants' and 'to get sleeker and hipper.'
Simmons was in town to celebrate his A&E reality series Gene Simmons Family Jewels hitting the 100 episode mark and in a keynote address, he spoke to delegates about how he had built the brand of his rock ban KISS and built the TV show from a special to a long-running series.
"It's your professional duty to make sure your brand spreads," he told delegates. "I would rather be Disney than Sony, Lionsgate or Paramount - I would wear that t-shirt - brands mean everything."

KISS' Gene Simmons Unlikely Campaigner For Women's Health

HE'S a fire-spitting, cod-piece wearing demon in platform boots. He gloats about his eight-inch tongue and says his passion for pashin' has resulted in his bedding an estimated 4600 women.
All things considered, it seems a little odd that KISS axeman Gene Simmons, whose family life is laid bare in the dubiously titled reality series Gene Simmons: Family Jewels, has suddenly positioned himself as a campaigner on women's health.
Simmons has been derided for saying he's been "happily unmarried" to actor Shannon Tweed for 24 years.

God may have given you rock and roll, but only Roundtable Concepts has said it will deliver the first KISS-branded TVs.
The LED HDTVs will ship in four sizes ranging from 55 inches to 32 inches. Roundtable is also offering a deal - if a customer buys one of the 55-inch LCD TVs for the retail price of $1,988.88, Roundtable will throw in a 32-inch LCD TV for free.
Roundtable said that only 15,000 of the new TVs will be made. Each will come with a special "diamond finish," includes the official KISS logo, and splash an image of the band on the screen during the eight seconds or so the TV requires to fully power on.
Roundtable did not release data for how many nights and days the new HDTVs could rock and roll for, and then party.

Legendary rockers are releasing officially-licensed LED HDTVs, available in 55-, 46-, 42-, and 32-inch (aka "Mini KISS," to no one else but the Engadget staff) variants, priced between $818.88 and $1,988.88 (and unless we're mistaken by the wording, buying the 55-inch model also nets you a 32-incher) and on sale now online / in-store mid-November. Each set has the KISS logo emblazoned on each bottom corner, and you'll be rocked -- nay, rawked -- by eight seconds of the band's imagery every time you turn it on. The TVs are produced by Roundtable Concepts and specs include... wait, you've already made up your mind, haven't you? Well, alright, then, our job here is done.
Peter Criss Talks To Q92 About Breast Cancer

On October 1, Holly Thorne, the afternoon drive announcer on the Q92 radio station in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, conducted an interview with original KISS drummer Peter Criss about the stigma of being a man battling breast cancer. You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below.
While some men feel embarrassed because of "this macho crap," Criss told CNN surviving breast cancer was actually a blessing. He was treated before the tumor could spread and said he was speaking about male breast cancer to raise the profile of this rare disease.
Criss, who played drums for KISS and was known as "Catman," offered this advice to men who spot lumps in their breast: "Don't sit around playing Mr. Tough Guy. Don't say 'It's going to go away.' It might not and you might not see life anymore and how beautiful that is."

According to Amazon.com, original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley will release "No Regrets," a look back at his "life of sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll" on April 26, 2011 via Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Gallery plans to publish the title under the VH1 Books imprint.
"No Regrets" is being co-written by New York Times journalist Joe Layden who also authored "The Last Great Fight" about what is considered by many to be the biggest upset in the history of boxing: James "Buster" Douglas' tenth-round knockout win over Mike Tyson in 1990.
Layden recently worked on MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine's autobiography, "Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir."
