Eddie Trunk's Annual Merry KISSmas Radio Special
From: EddieTrunk.com
Posted: December 25, 2010
Just a reminder that my annual Original Merry KISSmas radio special will air on Q104.3 NYC and online at www.q1043.com at 11PM EST-2AM this SATURDAY, Christmas night! Please note for Q104.3 NYC area listeners this weekend and next weekend my show is moving to Saturday instead of Friday due to the holidays. The show features 3 hours of all KISS music from all eras and lineups and it's something I have done since 1992. A tribute to one of my all time favorite bands who essentially get 2-3 songs out of their catalog played on mainstream radio on a regular basis. KISSmas is about celebrating what I love most about KISS, and is always overlooked, the MUSIC! So not matter if your a hard core fan, only like certain periods, or a casual fan that doesn't know much besides R&R All Night (which does NOT get played on my shows!) and wants to discover the music history of KISS, this show is for you. Remember, this Saturday broadcast is for the Q104 audience. The KISSmas special airs on all affiliate stations usual day and time the following weekend like all the FM/syndicated shows and also on this site On Demand for AA Members. Merry KISSmas to all!

5,000 Women And Counting: Which Celeb Is the Biggest Studmuffin?
From: FoxNews.com
Posted: December 23, 2010
Suddenly, we're really, really glad we never became "romantically involved" with KISS rocker Gene Simmons.
In a radio interview with "Woody & The Wake-Up Call" on Monday, 61-year-old Simmons claimed he hit the sheets with about 5,000 women during his 37 years of touring with KISS -- and took a Polaroid photo of practically every single one.
By our math, that's about 135 women a year, or more than two a week.
Because one woman per week is not enough when you're Gene Simmons.
Gene Simmons Streaks On Golf Course

Gene Simmons has shown off his own family jewels on his reality TV show.
The former KISS rocker was forced to streak after he lost a bet on the golf course.
Viewers watched as the 61-year-old stripped off and ran naked through a set of sprinklers on the A&E network show Gene Simmons: Family Jewels on Sunday night.
He was also caught on camera having a piddle in the bushes after drinking four cocktails while playing a round with his partner, one-time Playboy playmate Shannon Tweed.
Simmons' Speech To Highlight Branding
From: Times & Transcript
Posted: December 23, 2010
Amid all the pomp and circumstance that surrounds legendary rock star Gene Simmons, one could be forgiven for forgetting that he is, at the end of the day, a businessman.
Underneath the face-painted demon playing bass in rock band KISS is a man who came from next to nothing and turned himself into a successful, world-renowned business mogul.
One could draw a comparison between Simmons' alter egos and the Atlantic Brand Confabulation, the event the rocker will be appearing at on Friday, Jan. 14 in Moncton at Casino New Brunswick.
While the event promises a three-course dinner, paparazzi, red carpet, swag bags, music, speakers, prizes and more, the event also serves as a business function, says organizer Brad LeBlanc of The Momentum Group.
Ace At Gibson Firebird X Premier, Hard Rock Cafe, NYC, October 28, 2010

On Thursday, October 28, 2010, Gibson unveiled it's tenth version of the Firebird guitar at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City. Dubbed Firebird X, Gibson calls the instrument revolutionary. Compared to former versions, it's actually evolutionary in terms of the technology that went into it. Multiple processors, on-board effects, and a wireless interface are just a few of the features found on Firebird X. Electronic Design Components editor Mat Dirjish takes a glimpse of the instrument while getting some insights about it from legendary KISS guitarist and solo artist Ace Frehley.

Gene Simmons/Bruce Kulick "Ain't Gonna Die" Remix For Your Holiday Parties
From: Kulick.net
Posted: December 19, 2010
I would like thank all my friends and fans for an amazing year! The reaction and support for my solo disc BK3 has been wonderful. SO... I would like to share with you all something very cool. I have worked with many producers through the years, but a very talented friend of mine in Holland has created a unique collaboration of a track from BK3, producer Chew Fu.
I did some session work for Chew Fu years ago, and of course we have kept in touch. Chew Fu is known for his work with mega artists such as Lady Gaga, and in 2009 had a huge hit with her song "Love Game" feat. Marilyn Manson. Pretty cool! He has also worked with Grammy winners Rihanna, Kayne West, Kings of Leon, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and Black Eyed Peas. And he is a huge KISS fan as well! Well, once he got his hands on BK3 he asked me for the original files for the recording of "Ain't Gonna Die" so he could do a remix.

Annual Outrage Time: KISS Still Not In Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
From: NPR
Posted: December 15, 2010
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 2011 inductees have been announced and once again, KISS is not being honored.
Now, I've never particularly liked the band. But, come on. The boys have sold more than 100 million albums. They're still slapping on the face paint and strapping on the platform boots to do concerts around the world. The band's a legend in its own time. Even the decidedly-unmetal Wilco pays a sort of homage to KISS.
Nothing against this year's honorees (the Alice Cooper band; Neil Diamond; Dr. John; Darlene Love; Tom Waits; Leon Russell; Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman; and Specialty Records founder Art Rupe). They're all deserving.
The 20 Bands That Inspire Tattoos Like No Other
From: Westword.com
Posted: December 14, 2010
Personally, it's been the "One Bad Album" rule. That's all it takes for a band's musical reputation to be asterisked forever, which makes getting a tattoo of that band, well, risky. You have to wonder how often thirty-somethings across the land hear "Nice Chi' Pep's tat, brah," sarcastically said to them by a stranger, regarding the ink they received during a black-out trip to a Daytona Beach tattoo parlor during Spring Break '92.
That scenario will and should keep anybody from getting tattooed with the logo (or, God forbid, lead singer's face) on their skin for the rest of their life. But it won't faze those fans who wear their ink as a badge of honor.
It's true, some bands inspire tattoos more than others -- evidenced by the utter lack of Third Eye Blind tattoos. Here, based on highly scientific research conducted in bars, dimly lit clubs and arena parking lots, are the twenty bands that most inspire tattoos among their fans:

Jennifer Lopez Shouldn' Be "Idol" Judge Says Gene Simmons
From: iVilliage.com
Posted: December 12, 2010
Gene Simmons of the band KISS is known for his extra-long tongue -- and for better or worse, he has a big mouth to go with it. The 61-year-old rocker went off on OK! Magazine about how Jennifer Lopez didn't deserve to be an American Idol judge.
"I don't think Jennifer Lopez is going to mean a thing," the musician told the magazine. "Because you can dance and stuff, you don't write songs, your own records... I don't take her seriously as being able to spot new talent. So, you can sing, you can dance, that's nice."
So who does Simmons think would be a better judge? Well -- himself, obviously.
Exhilarating Tribute To The Military
From: Examiner.com
Posted: December 12, 2010
The video you are about to watch was filmed at the US Marine Corps base in Camp Pendleton. More than four and a half million people have seen it thanks to a gentleman who goes by the name of Jorge who lives in the United States.
Unfortunately, I would have never known that without some research, as it was sent to me by a reader, and it was purported to have been taped during a USO tour of Iraq. I also noticed, as it happens with most things which go viral on the Internet, that the majority of folks who have uploaded the video and commented about it do believe it was filmed in Iraq.
Many thanks go to Sgt Stephen Komenko, Jr. for correcting the record; he was able to watch the performance on A & E's Gene Simmons Family Jewels. Some further checking reveals an interview Gene Simmons had with Fox News' Hannity & Colmes (this was before Colmes quit the show) about the performance in May 2007.

Tommy Thayer To Play In Bob Hope Classic

Joining the many celebrity participants slated for next month's Bob Hope Desert Classic golf tournament, a desert tradition since 1960, is KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer.
The $5 million event begins with the pro-am on Jan. 19 and concludes Jan. 23 at the Palmer Private Course at PGA WEST in La Quinta.
The celebrities will be scattered about Coachella Valley courses, including the SilverRock Resort, La Quinta Country Club and PGA WEST.
Separately, it was announced that Franklin, Tenn.-based Franklin American Mortgage Co. will pay $1.5 million to sponsor some of the tournament's events over the next three years, following last year's initial involvement.
The money will buy the mortgage company access to the pro-am, tickets, hospitality and some signage on the courses, and on the bibs for celebrities' caddies. It also will be named an official sponsor of the classic's Celebrity Jam Session event, and will underwrite a celebrity dinner.

Fan Shares His Artwork
From: Rich from Florida
Posted: December 8, 2010
This mural came about because of my love for the KISS Destroyer artwork, (My email is dstroyr my tag on my chopper is DSTROYR). So I was on craigslist looking for KISS stuff and found a guy with some stuff for sale. We spoke on the phone then I went to his house to buy the items and upon arriving my wife and I noticed he did interior and exterior painting. I asked him to paint our garage door and as we got to talking I found he always wanted to do a large KISS mural. I had just finished doing an addition on my house which is going to be a game / KISS room so I had him paint this amazing masterpiece. The artist's name is Steve Gamble and he did a wonderful job. It took him 3 days to complete it and everyone loves it.

Hello everyone! It was my dream to see Hawaii again after many years of not visiting. I finally committed to taking the trip over the Thanksgiving holiday and, of course, I had a wonderful time.
Staying on Oahu near Honolulu on Waikiki Beach may not seen remote enough for some people looking to get away, but being a city boy from NYC for me it is paradise. Enough of everything you need for comfort, in addition to all the beauty Hawaii has to offer. I didn't visit volcanoes or waterfalls, but I will save that for another time.
Here are photos of sunsets and ukuleles and guitars at the Hard Rock, which JUST opened a new store. I found a sweet green painted Ukulele that I learned a few Beatles songs on already. I also saw some cool things at that Hard Rock that you need to see the photos of: a guitar presented back in '66 to John Lennon, as well as a Paul Stanley Washburn guitar.
I really feel great after my visit. It truly is a magical place. I hope your holiday season will be safe and full of joy.
All the best,
Bruce Kulick

Former KISS Guitarist Vinnie Vincent Gets 1977 Re-Issue and Live Concert Recordings
From: Rockstar Weekly
Posted: December 2, 2010
KISS and Vinnie Vincent fans can dive into a bit of Vinnie Vincent history with a new re-release of the classic Treasure LP from 1977 issued by Wounded Bird Records of New York and an Internet broadcast of three 1977 Treasure concerts via the website Wolfgang’s Vault. The new CD release also features a previously unreleased bonus cut. The CD is available at Amazon.
Treasure was a four-piece hard rock band Felix Cavaliere of the Rascals formed after his second solo LP, Destiny. Treasure (which only made one LP), featured Vinnie Vincent, who then used his real name Vinnie Cusano. The LP did get a Japanese releases early in the new millennium.
Treasure never achieved the radio airplay they hoped for (although the band's label had high hopes for the single, "Love Me Tonight") there are still several examples of the excellent musicianship of the band, and Cavaliere's exceptional (and soulful) voice is simply undeniable. The widely used phrase "blue eyed soul" was actually coined to describe Cavaliere and the Rascals. It has since become the standard definition of white artists who sing soul music. Wounded Bird Records was formed in 1998 as a label that specializes in the reissue of albums from the 60's, 70's and early 80's on compact disc. All of their releases are properly licensed from the owner of the original masters, in most cases the original record label and sometimes the artists themselves.
Eternal Images Has New Funeral Line To Help KISS Fans Go Out In Style
From: Crain's Detroit Business
They might become must-have items for some KISS aficionados and, surprisingly, have more uses than memorializing the deceased.
They are officially licensed caskets, cremation urns, bronze memorials, memorial prayer cards and candles, and pet cremation urns - all emblazoned with the iconic rock band's images.
Featured prominently of course, is lead singer Gene Simmons.
In fact, the pet cremation urns were Simmons' idea, said Nick Popravsky, vice president of sales and distribution for Farmington Hills-based Eternal Image Inc. (OTC: ENTL).
The public company already designs, manufactures and markets officially licensed memorial products for Star Trek fans, the Vatican, Major League Baseball, and colleges and universities.
KISS will be the company's first rock band, Popravsky said.
Cover Of "Spit" Shows Up On Tribute CD
From: A.J. Confessor
Posted: December 1, 2010
Dear KISSAsylum,
I thought your readers might like to know that a cult favorite KISS song appears on the new tribute album, "WHOLE LOTTA LOVE: An All-Star Salute To Fat Chicks." As the title implies, this unlikely compilation consists of new recordings of popular songs praising the fuller female figure, including the aforementioned KISS cover! These "anthems to abundance" are performed by renowned rock & rollers from yesterday and today, including members of Quiet Riot, Cinderella, Twisted Sister, L.A. Guns, Trixter, ZO2, W.A.S.P. and others. In addition to such obvious choices as "Fat Bottomed Girls," "Whole Lotta Rosie" and "Unskinny Bop," the album also boasts a new rendition of the oft-overlooked KISS nugget "Spit." Unless I'm mistaken, this marks the first time that song has been covered on a tribute album.
As most KISS fans already know, this classic chunk of sarcastic sleaze is carved from their 1992 release "Revenge." Featuring a by-then-rare pairing of Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley sharing lead vocals, "Spit" is an unapologetic rock & roll rant about the pleasures of pleasuring a large-sized lady. For the new version, vocalist Kelli McCloud gives voice to the Paul lines (from a female point of view), while the Gene parts are handled by none other than rock & roll comic C.C. Banana! C.C. does an impressive job of channeling the KISS Demon, a talent he first displayed on the 2008 release "KISS MY ANKH: A Tribute To Vinnie Vincent." For that album, he recorded a parody of "Unholy" rewritten about the lead singer of Danger Danger, Ted Poley! It's a note-perfect recreation that's absolutely hilarious. This time around, C.C. belts out a lyrically faithful version of "Spit," although he did change the title to "Split" (in reference to his unique banana pedigree).
As C.C. Banana himself puts it, "For the follow-up to my contribution to the Vinnie Vincent tribute, for which I recorded a KISS song from the 'Revenge' album sung by Gene Simmons, I decided to record a KISS song from the 'Revenge' album sung by Gene Simmons (albeit with a slight change of title, to better reflect my yellow magnificence). What can I say? Split happens!"
