For most of the 1970's KISS was the band to follow! They had a look,and a sound all their own.Front-men Paul Stanley & Gene Simmons took their dreams of "the band we always wanted to see onstage" and turned it into reality.

"You wanted the best, you got the best ...the hottest band in the world.....KISS!"

A thundering guitar note and then the opening chords of "Detroit Rock City" would blare from the towers of speakers to either side of the stage. A KISS concert was an experience.

To anyone who has never seen them live mere words alone can barely capture the excitement.The music was raw, loud and powerful. From the very first album simply titled "KISS" to the "Sonic Boom" KISS has never been a band that garnered a lot of air play, but love them or hate them you knew who they were.

I heard my first KISS song when I was 12, a friend's older sister had the album "Rock-n-Roll Over". I was hooked! I started doing anything I could to make money so I could buy my own album. I have most of them still on vinyl.

I went to 10 concerts thru the years, including the infamous one in Lakeland, Florida where Ace was nearly electrocuted by a short in his guitar!! I think the best album I ever heard was "KISS Alive 2" it captures the essence of a live KISS show as well as any medium can.

I watched with baited breath the day they introduced Eric Carr as the new drummer. I admit I was a big fan of Peter Criss but Eric was a great drummer. May he R.I.P.. I was in shock that day on MTV when they appeared without their famous make-up! OMG! So that is what they look like.

I remember laughing at people who said the band was "devil worshippers,or nazis. Nazis? Please the 2 main members were Jewish for pete's sake! Also the nay sayers who were sure the name stood for Knights in satan's service. I laughed so hard at that one I nearly wet myself!

Now some 40 years later they are still recognized, still idolized, still imitated. New fans are born every day. Gene Simmons is a businessman extroidanaire.Watch him on A&E in Gene Simmons Family Jewels. Keep an eye out for his son Nick - this young man is his dad all over again. I am a die hard fan & have been for 23 years now. Rock on the Demon!

Gene Simmons is a man driven by success. He has a great head for business and credits his mother with his drive to succeed. He is currently involved in his T.V. show Gene Simmons Family Jewels.
