From: Johan Wall I just heard on a swedish radio channel called "Radio Stockholm" that EMA (swedish concert promoter) has announced that KISS will be back in Stockholm on June 14th 1997. Thay will play on a place called Stadion and tickets will go on sale December 3rd. Stadion holds around 30,000 people, and KISS sold out their two upcoming swedish shows next weekend in one hour (23000 tickets), so I guess this will also be a quick sellout.
From: Nestor Nunez Acevedo The KISS concert in Madrid 28 /11/96 ( Spain ) has been cancelled, due to the impossibility of the trucks to pass the French border to Spain, due to the French truckers strike. Right now it's unclear about what is going to happen with the other date in Spain, Zaragoza 29/11/96. We have been told by the organization that the show will be delayed till May, because of the return of the band to Europe to perform in Great German¥s Festivals. They also have said that the tickets sold will be valid for the May dates.
From: Robert I have some terrible news for KISS-fans in Spain. It is not 100% confirmed, but a friend of mine went to the London show -- he works for the agency that will promote the Prague-shows. He spoke with KISS and their road management-people and they told him that KISS would have to cancel both of their shows in Spain, because there is a crazy strike of French truck-drivers, who have blocked all the border-crossing roads to France from England, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland and the trucks with KISS-stage and equipment etc. cannot get to Spain ! This is a complete disaster for all the KISS-fans in Spain ! I hope they have solved the problem meanwhile... Anyway, if the shows would get cancelled, it will be a tragedy...Hopefully KISS will come to Spain in June '97. By the way, KISS very much look forward to go to Prague, none of 'em except for Peter have ever been to Prague although it is considered by many as the most beautiful town on the planet. It looks like they're gonna be here since Friday afternoon til Monday morning, so they'll have enough time for sightseeing, press meetings and a party with their fans ! Both shows have been completely sold out. Pilsner Urquell (probably the most famous brewery in Czech Republic) has made some beers with a KISS-picture on a can !!! I saw one of them, I don't know how many they made, though. Do you think that would be an interesting collectors' item ?

From: Willsurv Here is some news for the Canadian readers on your site. KISS will be featured on Muchmusic in a three-part spotlight between Thursday November 28 to Saturday November 30. The show is a half an hour each night beginning at 8:30pm (Atlantic Time).
From: Mats Vassfjord This week I got a one hour Kiss-special TV-show on video. I'm not sure if this is the "official" thing Kiss sent out to tv-stations all over the world (except the US) a couple of months back, but my guess is, it is. This was aired in Japan probably one or two weeks ago. It's an awesome show, telling the Kisstory from beginning to end. It consists mainly of live stuff starting off with a cut from Winterland Ballroom, working it's way through some stuff from Tokyo '77, Australia '80, Rio '83, Tokyo '88 etc. and ending up at the current reunion tour with cuts from Madison Square Garden, Atlanta and Lexington, KY. It's narrated in between the cuts. and everything is in crystal clear quality (I've actually got the master-tape). The show is called LIVE-HISTORY! If anybody wants to know more about this, or if somebody's interested in obtaining a copy of it (in either PAL or NTSC) please contact. Email Mats for more info!
From: AceFrehley.com Just got off the phone with Dave Chlystek the artist of KissNation...it was interview I completed for Ace Radio to air next Sunday...but I thought I'd pass on the highlights... Marvel sold their rights to do music related comic books in March and that was the primary reason for the delay in the release of KissNation, which was initially scheduled for release, last April. It was Mort who designed the costumes for the comic...and they were loosely based on Destroyer...Paul didn't like his...and refined the costume himself. The story line including the ending with the Kiss truck...was conceived and written by Paul and Gene...primarily Gene. KissNation will be featured in Combo, a comic industry magazine...Kiss will have new artwork for the cover to be released JUST BEFORE KissNation goes retail in January. Look for a Gene Simmons interview in that issue. KissNation may also be featured in "Wizard" with a new Kiss cover... KissNation will be heavily marketed by Kiss when its retail release in January arrives. Kiss toys are still in negotiation...Tod McFarlane's ["Spawn" -- go to Toys 'R' Us and check them out -- very detailed. -johnW.] group seems like the logical choice to produce them. Kiss came VERY close to signing a deal with Hanna Barbara to do a direct to video Kiss animated movie, those plans are on hold...but not dead. If the Kiss comic sells well, there will be more coming...probably independently produced by Kiss without Marvel involved...the bottom line is we fans have to support the product...so go out and buy your copy now!! If there is a next comic the initial thinking is doing an "Elder" type theme to the comic...where some of the origins of "Super Hero" Kiss would be explored... You can order the comic through the Internet from First State comics...I got mine only a few days after I ordered them...clean efficient service I recommend the site highly...the comic book is only 10 bucks...the URL is... http://www.ssnet.com/~fang/marvel/kiss1.html You can also order the Kiss comics from the 70's there as well.
From: Eric Lensing Got the latest AMUSEMENT Magazine with the up-to-date figures on three shows. Gross------Total Attend. /Total Capacity----------Date/Show $380,725 ------11,545 /12,000----------Dallas/Reunion Arena 11/10 $276,000------9,200 /9,200----------Little Rock/Barton Col 11/9 $240,146------6,703 /10,000----------Lafayette/Cajundome 11/6 I live in Little Rock and went to that show as well as the Dallas and Memphis shows back in July, and I must say the L.R. show was the best! There was more pyro, the guys were having fun, Peter appeared to be in better shape banging the drums, and they knew how to use the stage. Musically, the Memphis show was more on the mark, but they appeared too concerned with getting it right. In Dallas, they were trying to work out the kinks of the stage and Peter was a bit tentative. I guess those who saw the second leg got more pyro and a better stage presence.
From: Tokyo Rock City I know this might be old news to some but I thought I would post it anyway. There is going to be ANOTHER KISS greatest hits album to be released in Japan called "Hot One's" It is to coincide with the KISS Japanese leg of the tour. Here is the track listing of the album as seen at Tokyo Rock City:
Saw your post about Hot One's on the Asylum..."Hot One's" will be just some sort of Japanese "subtitle" for "Greatest Kiss"...they usually do this, so e.g. YWTB,YGTB was called "Best of Best KISS - Alive!", so no extraordinary cover changes or anything to be expected...just another track order, some changed tracks and the logo sticker !!! |

A Tribute to Eric Carr - Fifth Year 11/24/61 Eric, You showed us the world was tough. But you surely rocked it hard enough. So hard that after five years., its still rocking harder than before. How can we forget that behind the mask of the Fox. We all shared our lives with you. Holding onto memories of what you taught us, that if you believe in yourself, your dreams can come true. Everytime we hear the sound of your drums we know you are sending us a message. Of love, devotion and dedication. You surely rocked the world hard enough, so hard that no one can ever forget you. Eric, we love you and miss you so much. Love, Mom and Dad
From: John Reece I went to the Philly KISS expo on Sunday. It was a little smaller than the NY expo earlier this year, but it was still a great day. Bill Aucoin was the guest of the day. He was very polite and friendly and took all questions from the audience. Afterwards he stayed and signed autographs. Dressed To Kill put on an adequate show, but with the real thing finally on tour a tribute band seems to be a bit much. There was one very significant person missing in action, Frank Caraglio!! Frank is a well known and very respected KISS dealer, he has been feeling a little under the weather and could not make the show. Please drop him a line at frankkiss@aol.com
From: Eric Schenker and Kerri Wanted to drop a line alerting ticket holders to the show at the Continental Airline Arena on New Years Eve to check their tickets. Yup, 9:00pm is marked. Now, it's anybody's guess as to the significance of this. But all show's that I've attended in the reunion tour have started at 8:00pm. 8:00-8:30 Opening band 8:30-9:00 Stage preparation 9:00-11:00 KISS Now, bump all the above up by one hour and you have KISS playing up 'til midnight! And that is great!! What a way to bring in the New Year!

From: Tore Raaen I`ve hearded from secure sources that KISS is probably going to play at Valle Hovin ouside Oslo, Norway next summer. Paul Stanley had said if the concerts in Scandinavia is a sucsess, I guess that is a possibility,KISS will play one more concert for Scandinavia.Valle Hovin is defiently the best choice because it`s an outside arena, and in June/July,well, it couldn`t be better. I have read this in "Dagbladet", probably the biggest Norwegian newspaper. You shouldn't have any doubts for putting the news I brought in the update.

From: Samantha Grant I was driving to work Nov. 21st and was listening to a popular talk show here in L.A. called the Mark and Brian show on KLOS. Shannon Tweed, the mother of Gene's children, was their guest. She talked aboout her new Playboy video and took questions from callers about KISS. When asked if she and Gene have a monogamous relationship, she answered "Absolutely". Does this mean that the Gene we know and love has really settled down? I don't think so, but I could be wrong.
Some other interesting tidbits:
From: David Swayne In the January 1997 issue of Hit Parader Magazine there are some things about KISS TOP FIVE BANDS 1. METALLICA 2. KISS 3. PANTERA
TOP FIVE LIVE ACTS
TOP MOST OVERHYPED
TOP LOUDEST BANDS
TOP MOST NECESSARY REUNIONS

The first review is in from this cool clinic tour! go to my KISS VIEWS page to access the reviews!
From: Robby The two largest Norwegian newspapers tabloids, Dagbladet and Verdens Gang, are really slagging KISS' first concert of their European leg. The concert in Birmingham was obviously terribly, everything was wrong! (The two headlines read: "This KISS stinks"! and "The magis is gone"). The sound was lousy, the fireworks awful (less than a 3-year old uses on New Years Eve!), the KISS logo too small, the members are too old and look silly, their just doing it for the money (and if it wasn't for the merchandise sales KISS are losing money on this tour!), Metallica's new show is far better, etc. etc. One of the journalists even managed to slagg off Paul Stanley for his Love Gun intro reffering to his "loaded gun". This journalist writes that KISS obviously doesn't know that handguns now are banned in the UK and that this intro was in good taste! But what this idiot doesn't understand is that Mr. Stanley is reffering to a completely different kind of Love Gun! I've been as KISS fan for 20 years and I'm going to the KISS show in Oslo, Norway on Dec. 8th. and I'm really looking forward to it. I won't let these two journalist idiots ruin my anticipation, but I'm really pissed. However, the European press has always been negative to KISS and the only metal band they can tolerate is obviously Metallica.
From: JT Lloyd I went to the shows at Birmingham (20/11) and Manchester (21/11) and both were awesome. Kerrang's contention that the indoor shows would not live up to Donnington was misguided. I felt that the band's performance was much better in the indoor arenas. The biggest shock concerning set list was the reintroduction of "I was made for loving you". The band had stated recently that it was the one song they wouldn't play. To be honest, I was disappointed (as were a lot of people I have talked too), because they missed out a few classics that I've seen mentioned in American reviews. A complete set list follows (order may not be exact): Deuce - King of the . . . - Do you love me? - Dr. Love - Watching You - Let me go r'n'r - I Stole Your Love - Shout It Out Loud - Firehouse - Shock Me - C'mon and Love Me - Cold Gin - Love Gun - God of Thunder - New York Groove - Black Diamond - Detroit Rock City - I was made for loving you - r'n'r all night (The set was the same for both nights). In Birmingham, the crowd were a bit subdued. At Manchester the atmosphere was better though.
From: sngsmont@arriba.nm.org Today, 11/21 on ESPN's Sportscenter, sportscaster Dan Patrick was showing highlights of a tennis match involving tennis player Goran Ivanisevic who was wearing a ridiculous hair style [refering to his ponytail on the TOP of his head]. Patrick commented on how Ivanisevic's hair looked like Pebbles from the Flinstones or better yet, GENE SIMMONS of KISS! Keith Olberman, the other sportscaster then commented how Ivanisevic's hair did not look as good as Simmons' style. Not only is KISS setting the world of rock and roll on fire again, but apparently also, the world of hair fashion. A toast to GENE!
From: Bob Burke Just thought you'd like to know that KISS was mentioned in the new issue of Spawn. It is an article about the staff's summer vacation. Here it is:
Next up was KISS. And what a show it was. These guys can still kick major ass. They played to a sold out arena that was standing room only. Highlight of the show? Gene Simmons spraying blood all over the people in the first three rows of the floor! They played for about 100 minutes and had everyone "rocking and rolling along night long...and partying everyday." After the show we met Gene at his hotel and talked for about two hours. We conversed about the changing comic book market place, the rock'n'roll biz, and about other subjects. He is a major fan of comics in general and Spawn in particular. Be on the lookout for their new comic book, KISSNATION, coming out very soon from another comic company. Could there be a toy line in the works? Did you see the guys at the MTV video awards show? they tore up the last production shot of the show at an impromptu gig outside the Brooklyn Bridge. the myth and legend only
grows onward...

About a month ago Paul Guillemette asked me to post up a survey dealing with the Carnival of Souls album. The survey just ended a few days ago and Paul has graciously given us the FULL statistical breakdown of the survey. Great job Paul! So if you are a fan of the unreleased album, or even if you are not a fan of the album, I encourage all to check out what others have said about it and what they liked and disliked about it. It really is interesting.....and very telling!. Click here to see the final results of the "Carnival of Souls" survey.

From: Samantha Grant I was watching the animated series "Superman" on Sat. Nov. 16th and spotted a KISS reference. Superman and Lobo, a well-known DC villian, were trapped on another planet. Lobo was locked in a room with two female robots in skimpy clothing and there was a "KIZZ" poster on the wall complete with cartoon drawings of the guys. Lobo himself looks like a KISS kinda guy, long hair, boots and tatoos. It was pretty cool.

From: Joe of KISS Hell I got a call from Champion boots today-it seems after the KISS ASYLUM ran some info. KISS fans have gone crazy about these things! The boots are hand cut & inlaid with KISS faces-they have a 3-D look to em-especially the Ace. The idea for the 1st hundred autographed probably won't happen but each boot has the signatures stitched under the faces from the DYNASTY cover. This is a limited edition of 2000 sets & they will all be numbered. This company has made custom boots for Paul & Gene (& other rock stars) in the past & they feel this is so cool & unconventional for a band like KISS-because KISS are making virtually nothing on the boots. But KISS saw them & loved em. They're available in motorcycle & western boots at $400 a pair. Platform's are also planned-they will be 3 or 4 inches high & cost a little more. The company's also planning other designs of KISS boots for the future-I can't tell you what-but just think of another album cover... & something to do with Gene... There's also plans to make boots of other bands (NIN, etc..) in the future. Visit Champion boots online at WWW.ChampionBoot.Com. To order call 1-888-KISSBOOT.
They are starting to come in. To see the first review (not favorable) then go to my "KISS Views" page and click on "KISSnation Comic Reviews."
From: Gen Eric We have just released the new RockWalk Book "The First Decade", which is a hard cover overview of the first ten years of RockWalk inductions. This overview includes the various inductions of Ace & Kiss. The book is online for ordering at the Rock Walk of Fame Web Site. (http://www.rockwalk.com) This web site is a must see for Kiss fans. It features great articles on the induction of Kiss and Ace into the Rock Walk of Fame. It should be noted that this new book from the Rock Walk of Fame will include even more photos of Ace and Kiss. Their web site also has photos of all the Kiss memorabilia that was donated to the museum. Also all proceeds to this book are being donated to charity!

Nov 24th in Philly 11am-8pm guest Bill Aucoin and performance by Dressed to Kill tickets at ticketmaster $11.00 show at Holiday inn-king of Prussia,P.A. info write or call: stephen (416)242-3580 kiss expo p.o.box 39253 235 dixon rd,etobicoke, ont.canada M9P 2M5 From: KingCool@aol.com and Cheltattoo@aol.com No, not boots as in bootlegs, but boots as in footwear! No joke, I just dialed up 1-888-KISSBOOT and got a message that said something about official KISS footwear! I just got off the phone with a girl from Champion at this number.... here's the story... This company in the past has made cowboy boots for both Gene and Paul. To commemorate the reunion tour, they thought it would be neat to do something special. What they're doing is making handmade cowboy or motorcycle boots with all 4 members make-up faces on the boot. Gene and Paul on the front and Ace and Peter on the back. (Surprise!) She said that the boots ARE officially licensed merchandise. They will be all leather handmade running $400 to $450 a pair. The first 100 pairs of these boots will be autographed by the band and there will only be 2000 pairs made available worldwide. She was surprised that I knew about this apparently since they had only shown these once and they are NOT YET AVAILABLE. That was at the Dallas show last week. She took my name and address and put me on their mailing list. She also said that PLATFORM VERSIONS ARE IN THE DESIGN STAGES....

From: Greg Davies "Today (Thursday, 14th November), local Perth street press magazine, X-Press ran a little article regarding the upcoming Aussie tour. Also in the mag was a page with the official KISS Tour Advertisement - It looks damn cool!! Also, PMFM 92.9, will be the FM radio sponsor for the Perth show - that's if you're interested. . . Get ready Australia, KISS are coming to blow us up!!! From: Shawn Gade My town's newspaper, "The Beacon News", in Aurora, IL, ran a contest to vote the best AMERICAN band. I participated, of course, sending in a whopping twenty postcards shouting it loud for KISS!!! When I recieved the paper, who was on the cover, none other than KISS. They weren't the only winners, though, for they tied with Van Halen, and Aerosmith, and STYX(?). But my boys were on there!! The KISS ARMY ruled again.

"In a recent message, Gene was full of news... From: Paul Miles YES - Frontier have now confirmed that lounge tickets will not be standing room only, but allocated seating. They were quite annoyed that their fax machine had been jamming and spitting out faxes for hours after this email was sent, with people complaining and telling them to change their Kiss lounge ticketing decision. They have now also instructed their Perth office - Offbeat - that it is not standing room only. Offbeat have instructed the ticketing outlet that allocated seats for the lounge areas need to be issued when tickets go on sale Monday. A BIG THANK YOU for everyones support and help. The shows will now be a lot safer and enjoyable for all! I knew the KissArmy could do it!!!! Roll on Feb.

From: Greg Davies Prices for KISS tickets in Perth are $59. Not sure about the other Aussie states, but my guess is that they'd be close to that price too. There is standing room in the lounge area at the Burswood Dome, Perth, at the moment, no seating arrangements as of yet!! Also, just got word from someone at Triple M, he said that there will be an interview with Gene that will probably be broadcasted on Sunday Night. In it apparently Gene states that it is possible KISS will play Shandi in Australia From: Paul Miles Hi all, Frontier Touring have instructed ticketing outlets that lounge tickets will be Standing Room Only and not ticketed seats. We need your urgent support to get them to change their mind before they go on sale next Moday 18th. Frontier have advised the best thing to do is FAX their General Manager -- Mr Michael Chugg - on 02 9360 4966 to Voice your Protest. Their decision means allocated row seating for fanzine/fanclub members is of no use. The first tickets purchased for the shows could mean viewing the show from the back of the lounge. People may also purchase the last lounge tickets yet be front row on the night. That sucks! My greatest concerns are on the night. Aggressive people will be trying to get to the front and there will be VIOLENCE! and people being squashed and seriously hurt. Don't let this happen - FAX Frontier TODAY. Hopefully together we will get them to change their minds. Spread the word!!! According to a magazine called Marvel Vision, It lists KISSNATION hitting the local comic book stores on January 29th. From: Kevin Bonani Chino, the lead singer of former KISS opening act the Deftones, was on 97.1 (A Los Angeles talk radio station) with Rikki Rachtman (sp) today. Among the topics of discussion was the Deftones opening for KISS. Chino said it was a joke. He said they were sat down at the beginning of the tour and were told they were not to talk to the members of KISS, or approach them. He said they had no contact with KISS for the entire two weeks they were on tour (Other than Gene passing by once & he only said "hey").

From: Greg Davies Just recieved word that the Australian KISS Tickets are likely to cost around $80. There's also word going around that the band maybe playing "I Was Made For Loving You," "Shandi" and "World Without Heroes" over here! From: Paul Bill Aucoin: There was a Kiss "Party" in Toronto yesterday and I thought you might be interested in some of Q & A with Bill Aucoin. Some examples are: 1- When he signed my copy of Kisstory #9137 he remarked "oh it's one of the real ones" he mentioned that after a certain # they are machine signed. 2- The reunion: he met them in New York during the MSG shows and he was very clear that this reunion is stricly business and is being done solely for $$$. The band members do not get along on a personal level but are doing this to pad their bank accounts. 3- He didn't like the intro to the show, "it's too plain" but otherwise he enjoyed the show despite the fact that there isn't anything new or revolutionary. 4- He has some doubts on whether they will able to stay together but that you can count on Alive 4 and a new studio album coming out of this in the near future. There is a set timetable for this reunion. 5- The flying bit was orginally intended for Paul because he didn't have any gimmicks but Paul did not want to do it. He also wanted to have all the members fly onto the stage from the furthest part of the arena. Again the members vetoed that idea. 6- Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer were fired/let go once it was clear that this reunion would be more successful than keeping that version of Kiss together. He stated that Gene is especially ruthless when it comes to business dealings. 7- He no longer receives any royalties from the back catalog. He said that he got tired of hiring lawyers every year to extract his royalty payments from Kiss. He settled for one lump sum a few years ago and he longer has any business ties with Kiss. 8- He has received 3 offers for a tell all book about KISS. He isn't ready to commit just yet. He did say that there are a lot of things which very few people know about that would shock fans. 9- His favorite momento is a altered Monopoly game based on Kiss which is made out of glass. Only 5 are in existence. 1 for each member + 1 for himself. The large puppets as seen in the Forbes article are #2 10- Gene's #1 goal in life is to make as much $$$ as possible and to be in full control of Kiss which he is. [KISS Asylum Note: A few of you have written me angry at Bill Aucoin's comments. Look guys, this is just ONE MAN's OPINION. Just becuase "Bill Aucoin" says something...does not make it fact....just as just becuase "KISS" says something, does not make it fact. It is up to YOU the reader to decide on your own the motives and truth behind comments like these]

From: Doug Snazel (Ace Frehley.com) Just so you know there has been some significant changes to the set list this week. Removed from the set list: Rock Bottom Strutter Watchin You Shock Me
Replacements: 2000 Man now contains the famous smoking solo. This may not be a permanent change. C'Mon and Love Me, is fairly historic, to my knowledge, I think don't think it has been performed live in nearly 18 years [Note: was performed early during the HITS tour]... Also I have received numerous confirmations that the band has performed Hard Times and Hard Luck Woman at sound checks. One more rumor...Michel Lafon and others at the Irivne show, heard rumors that Kiss is working on some Unmasked stuff for Australia and Europe, since the Unmasked era was so popular down there. This is just rumor, but it seems to lead to possible performances of Shandi and Talk to Me down the road. From: SnowDog75 "Saw a cool Kiss reference on one of my fave shows, Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Zorak made a threat to Space Ghost, to which he responded, "You and what army?" Zorak swiftly replied, "The Kiss Army." Right after that, a group of guys screamed out "Detroit Rock City!!!!" I almost peed in my pants!!!!" From:Wesley Koch On Halloween night they had a segment with the guy from SCTV who plays dracula with a bunch of carved out pumpkins made up to look like different celebrities with wigs etc. They had them covered up and uncoverd them one at a time. They had a group of 4 made up like KISS with the makeup. Gene's had a big tongue sticking out with squirting blood.
