The "KISS MTV Unplugged" album debuted at #15 on the Billboard charts this week. There has been a rumor going around that
KISS will hold their press conference to announce their reunion tour on April 16th in New York City on
the USS Intrepid (A US aircraft carrier on the River in NY).
Other rumors floating around is that the Reunion tour will begin on Memorial Day and end on Labor day to make this
Reunion tour a summer event only. Also there has been talk that the new studio album that has pretty much been finished
up will be out in the fall with KISS touring in support of it later this year.
Today, March 12th, KISS released their 28th album, "KISS Unplugged."
It features 15 songs (16 on the Import version with an extra track "Got to Choose") that range form songs from the first
album up to KISS's latest studio album "Revenge."
The KISS of today play on the first 11 songs including a track "Everytime I Look At You" with a piano and a string
section; and then KISS (Paul, Gene, Peter, and Ace) appear on the next two songs "2,000 Man" and "Beth". Bruce and Eric
then come out to join the "original" KISS on stage to do two more songs "Nothin' to Lose" and "Rock & Roll All Nite" to
finish up this great CD. The sound quality of the CD is great and in my opinion it is produced rather well. I only wish
they would have included "Got to Choose" on the America version.
Along with the new KISS CD "KISS Unplugged" released today, KISS also releases a new KISS Long Form video also entitled "KISS MTV Unplugged." This video contains The KISS Unplugged performance, interviews, backstage footage, outtakes, and the extra track "Got to Choose." This video is really cool and the first 12 mins of the video is the best in my opinion. It contains footage from the KISS Konventions including the clips of the 10yr old kid that played drums on "Do You Love Me" and the little girl that sang "Lets Put the "X" in Sex" from the Detroit KISS Konvention. Also it includes a clip from KISS wedding and behind the scenes of KISS preparing for the KISS MTV Unplugged show. Great, great behind the scenes stuff. I just wish there was more of that on the video! The Rest of the video captures KISS on the MTV Unplugged show. This is a REALLY good video and I HIGHLY recommend it! The video track list is as follows:
KISS plans to re-issue and remaster the first 4 KISS albums. "Alive!" will be
on a single disk! They are being pressed right now and should be out in May.
Then shortly after, KISS will release the next four KISS albums up to "Alive
II," which will also be on a single disk. It is uncertain if KISS will
remaster the entire catalog. I have heard they might remaster all of the Cd's
up to Crazy Nights. Also Mercury will wait and remaster the "greatest hits"
CD's last.
The KISS boxed set is slated for release in 1997 but no other information is
available about it other than the Boxed set could include some live concerts
from the 1970's on CD.
I talked to one of the artists on the KISSNATION comic recently and he told
me that the KISSNATION Comic will be out shortly. The comic is all finished
and KISS will release it very soon [probably after they finish the
negotiations on the Reunion Tour].
Next week MTV will debut the new KISS video "Rock & Roll All Nite
[unplugged]" off of the new KISS Unplugged album! No other word on other
possible videos / singles but it was rumored that "Everytime I Look At You"
might be the next single / video.
