From: Brucekool I have to say that"it's with the lawyers" is not good... but I will keep my fingers crossed. Wouldn't it be nice for something from that COS CD come out this century?? John Corabi and I are finishing half our new CD now. We are real proud and I can't wait for you all to hear it. We are trying to get it out this year. I will be in Detroit on the 13th of July and for you Canadians in Vancouver BC ont he 11th of May. That will be fun. Playing RRAN&PED for 75 minute with 1500 guitarists all for the Guiness book of records! Drop me a E-mail if you care and all of you take care!!! Bruce (BruceKool@aol.com) PS Mark St.John played one and a half shows in 1984... in upstate NY and in Maryland I believe. I was ready if something happened in that all Mark show. Very bizarre!!
From: Brucekool I must sadly back up Gerri with the fact that Gene did say to me he doesn't believe the internet is reaching the real demographics of the KISS fans and it is "warped''. I do understand what he said as I really know Gene, but as Gene knows we are all entiltled to disagree!! Bruce PS He used to check KISSNATION, but told me he doesn't now.
From: Brucekool We are currently mixing the first half of our CD. It is really great music that we are very proud of. We have a drummer now and we will have our new bass player in May play on the next batch of songs. John and I handled the bass so far. We hope to have a release this year and to tour. I promise it is worth the wait and John is so talented it is a joy to write and record with him. Not positive about the name yet so we will let you know when it comes around for sure. Gerri thank you of course for the support. you will not be forgotten! Bruce PS OR WILL THE FANS THAT HAVE BEEN SO COOL TO US. YOU RULE !!
Check out The KISS Asylum Chat Info Page to get info on the new chat format. We will be using "The Palace" graphical chat software. Please give it a chance!! We would love to see you there!!!! =)
From: Paul Finn Over the last few weeks 3 new KISS books have been released in the UK - KISS Revenge Is Sweet, KISS The Hottest Band In The Land and KISS Live! Pictures of their covers can be seen at the KISSin' UK news page (reviews soon) http://www.strutter.demon.co.uk/kissinuk/kissnews.htm
From: Julian I've posted a full review of the new UK KISS book on the reviews page of my website. The book isn't even mentioned at Omnibus' own site! Enjoy! http://www.geocities.com/sunsetstrip/3121/
From: Ted Schmitz I got some more information on the action figures from work today. The Musicland (Musicland, Sam Goody, Media Play, and On Cue) company is expecting them in stores on July 1st. They are taking preorders for the set of four with a price tag of $39.96. To reserve your set, it takes $5 down (deposit comes out of the price when you pick them up). Also, I don't know how much truth there is to this, but it said on the promo sheet that they're manufacturing only 100,000 of each figure.

From: David Wertheimer, Web Designer Billboard Online Hey Kiss fan and Web site manager! There's a new site up that you should check out. It's the online site for "Kiss and Sell: The Making of a Supergroup," the new book by C.K. Lendt that details the making and marketing of one of rock's original supergroups, Kiss! This unauthorized behind-the-scenes book is written by a top executive with Kiss' former business management group, and chronicles their spectacular rise in the '70s and survival through hard times into a new reign as the hottest band in the world.
The "Kiss and Sell" Web site, on Billboard Online, is featuring excerpts
from the book and will soon have a Kiss Army links page to lots of other
Kiss fan sites. It's opening to the public on April 30 and will be
updated weekly through the middle of June. Come on by and check out the
site, and let us know what you think! Also, if you link to Billboard
Online or the "Kiss and Sell" site, we'll feature you in our upcoming
Kiss Links page.

For more info on this new KISS book click the banner at the top of this web page.
From: Dale Sherman The Rock Report, a news sheet that is sent to radio and television stations around the country, just reviewed BLACK DIAMOND. The review by Ken Sharp, who did the GOLDMINE interviews with the band over the years, is very positive, here's what it said:
"Also out is another splendid book, BLACK DIAMOND -- THE UNAUTHORIZED BIOGRAPHY OF KISS (Collector's Guide Publishing Inc./$19.95). Unlike Lendt's tome [KISS & Sell], BLACK DIAMOND is a comprehensive biography of the band chronicling their pre-KISS years in such bands as Wicked Lester and Chelsea to their phenomenally successful 1996-97 reunion tour. Written by noted KISS expert Dale Sherman, the book is a marvel of research, the author spending over eight years collecting and compiling information for this project. His diligence and attention to detail is remarkable making BLACK DIAMOND the bible for the KISS Army. Chock full of previously unknown and often revelatory information, the book is buttressed by interviews with KISS, manager Bill Aucoin, Casablanca Records label head Neil Bogart, and producer Bob Ezrin among others. Make no mistake, BLACK DIAMOND is the perfect supplement to the group's official biog, KISSTORY. Also included with the book is a candid interview CD containing a conversation conducted by the author with the late KISS drummer Eric Carr."
From: Puppyo Just found this on a music news board: "Speaking of Cher's former amours, Kiss's Gene Simmons not only had a few nips and tucks of his own, but like Cher, he also travels with his own trunkful of wigs. He has such a deep affection for the one he wears on stage that he's named it. When it's not on his head, Simmons calls his fuzzy friend Schraevus. That's what Gene calls it, so that's what the tour's hairdressers and crew call it. (We can't translate it perfectly, but as we know Simmons, we figure it's Yiddish for merkin.) In fact, they've taken to calling all the "hair enhancements" Schraevus. Yes, every member of the band is using some kind of tonsorial help on this Kiss And Make-up tour."
From: QuickieMC@aol.com On the Home & Garden channel they showed a lunchbox collector who had a KISS lunchbox.. It was kinda beat up, but they said it was worth $125.
From: Julian Just got back from the book store (Canterbury, England) where they had a new (?) KISS glossy in. It's issues by Omnibus Press, the same guys who did the KISS Live Magazine earlier this year. It's called "KISS, the visual biography" and had about 100 pages with tons of pictures including many from 1973 and a way cool live shot of Peter in very early war paint with Paul just waring heavy red eyeshadow - I haven't seen many of the pix on the net! It covers 1973-96 with plenty of coverage of all KISS lineups, except Mark, and includes an album discography (obviously taken from the FAQ data) and a UK discography (which is not as good as the one I have at my Mr Blackwell's site!). It costs ukp 12.50. If anyone wants it contact me - I'm willing to pick it up for you on a non-profit basis. PS, they also had the "Hottest Band In The World" book, and it's rubbish and has loads of wrong info - another example of twats cashing in on the KISS name. NOTE: Got some of the details wrong above, apologies. The new Ominbus Press book released in the UK is called "Revenge Is Sweet - KISS: An Illustrated Discography" (ISBN 0711958203). As I now have two copies available, I can tell you it's pretty cool, reasonably well written and accurate, (not as good as KISStory!), and has early pix from Lydia Criss' collection. It ranges the history of KISS from Wicked Lester to Bruce and Eric leaving.

From: James In the volume 4.1 issue of Airbrush Magazine they have some items on KISS. They have numerous pieces that they show, Gene on a leather jacket, KISS airbrushedon a motorcycle, and the first place piece for a particular category was a portrait of Gene in makeup.
From: Carol Johnstone Hi! I hope you can help me...I am trying to book a KISS Tribute Band for my wedding (!) reception in September, and am having the darndest time trying to find one in California. I live in the SF Bay Area, and will arrange my wedding date by the availability of the band. Would you be able to help me in any way? My fiance and I saw a great tribute band out of Portland, Maine called Destroyer, but unfortunately, Maine is pretty far from SF!!! Any thoughts or suggestions? Much, much appreciated, carol_johnstone@macworld.com -OR- jhotz@earthlink.net (KISS Asylum Note: I usually don't post this kinda info on my page....but it is a wedding after all...I had to do it :-) )

From: Puppyo Wow... just got a phone call from KISS' publicist, who said that the band has decided to help out the flood victims in Fargo, ND. They've printed a special Fargo-only KISS t-shirt that reads "KISS and Fargo... We Will Survive!" It'll be available ONLY at the Fargo show, and proceeds will go directly to the victims. Don't know what it will cost, but I'll let you know as soon as I find out.
From: Brett Meyer I just wanted to tell you and other fans that there is a new soft cover book about KISS called BLack Diamond: The Unauthorized Biography of KISS by Dale Sherman. It is about 200 pages with several black and white photos. It is the standard historical perspective, but written by a fan, so the stories have interesting twists that we are'nt use to hearibg from Paul or Gene. It's a great read. It contains info about the band, merchandising, touring, management, and Casdablanca records that are also covered in the other new book KISS and Sell by C.K. Lendt. The biography comes with a bonus cd of an interview with Eric Carr from 1990. There is soon to be a second volume about KISS collectibles coming shortly, as well. The book retails at 19.95 (U.S.). It can be ordered from Music Machine outside of Baltimore, Maryland. I have an extra copy if anyone is interested. (KISS Asylum Note: I will have an official web page for this book shortly. I have already conducted an interview with Dale and the book and other things will be discussed on the web page. That banner at the top of the page now was a teaser for that book.)
From: Ryland Pruett Thanks to everyone that pre-ordered our first issue of LOUD and CLEAR presents KISS. Although our official release date was 4-20-97, we were inundated with pre-orders. From: Brett Rodil The Edmonton Oilers are using Rock and Roll all Nite, as their entrance music. It's way cool! It's great for the game, and it's a good prep, for when KISS invades the Edmonton Coliseum May 2nd.
From: James Vincent It is now confirmed that there will be a KISS date at Finsbury Park, London, on July 5th (according to Kerrang) with support from Rage against the Machine and a couple of other bands.
From: Peter Hingle Here is some Kiss news from the UK. Firstly Kiss will playing live in London on July 5th not 4th. They will headlining at Finsbury Park (which is where The Sex Pistols played last year). Rage Against The Machine and Skunk Anansie will support. Tickets go on sale on April 26th. We also have a new Kiss tribute band called 'Parasite', they wear Love Gun costumes but have an Eric Carr Drummer, I have tour dates for them, so if anybody is interested please e-mail me.

From: Puppyo I just got off the phone with McGhee, who confirmed that the last 3 dates of the tour (Yakima, Reno and San Francisco) have been cancelled. The reason given was that the entire stage setup has to be shipped and assembled in Europe for a May 16th show, and playing those dates would not allow enough time. The last official U.S. date will be May 5th in Seattle, or May 6th in Vancouver if you count Canada. There are NO plans to return to the States to play make-up shows, and the band plays London on the 4th of July.

I, Chris, got back today from the Ames, Iowa KISS show. Man was that a long drive! It was a great show and I had a blast meeting some of my AOL friends. I hope to have a review or more of a report of my trip....if anyone cares, on the views page in a few days.
From: StudioChikara Visit The KISS Years' Web site Studio Chikara is proud to announce that its first book, Barry Levine's THE KISS YEARS, is now an official licensed product authorized by KISS!!! Because of this great news, and to thank the fans and stores who had preordered the book over the past few months, Studio Chikara has added a few surprises in the First Edition. Not only will the book include a bonus interview CD as solicited, but now it will contain a free trading card from Cornerstone Communications, a special offer for new KISS products, and an additional surprise! Even better news: advance copies of the book will be available at the New Jersey KISS Convention on Sunday, April 20. These rare advance books will not have the CD or card, but will be collectible because they will have an "ADVANCE COPY" stamp on the inside front cover. Additionally, Barry Levine will be appearing at the show to sign copies of THE KISS YEARS and answer questions about photographing the Hottest Band in the World over the past twenty years! Because demand for THE KISS YEARS is sure to rise now that its an official product, the first edition with CD, card, etc. is limited to 20,000 copies. All copies surpassing the 20,000 mark will NOT have the inserts mentioned above. You can still order your First Edition copy through H&H Global at 1-330-856-6238, but you'd better hurry; supplies are limited.

From: KNN / Doug Snazel It has come to my attention from various web sites and list, that a lot of fans are having a hard time finding Ace's solo material, out there, in particular the new 12 Picks CD. We now have instant order forms on our web site, that will try and correct this problem for all the fans out there. All orders received, can expect punctual delivery, from David Snowden productions, a dealer and friend to the Kiss community since 1981, and a very reputable person. This is fully authorized by Ace's manager and MegaForce records. If you are still looking for 12 Picks or any other material from Ace's solo career I encourage you to check out the new OFFICIAL Ace Frehley CD Catalog. http://acefrehley.com/cd If you are uncomfortable giving out your credit information via a web site, there is information on each order form on how to FAX in your order or send in a money order instead. There are now order forms for each of Ace's solo work, including 12 Picks.
From: KNN /Douglas Snazel I just off the phone with George Sewitt, Ace and Peter's personal manager. He called me from backstage at the Kansas show. We talked about a few things, most of all about the web site, which he is very proud of and he said both Peter and Ace love their web sites, and are really proud of YOU the fans. They just think the fans have been great to them this last leg of the tour and that all the Kiss related stuff on the Internet, is testimony to the greatest fans in the world. I think all of you out there should take a bow, because you've all made Ace and Peter very happy! We talked about Peter's injury, and I can't really say too much about it, but it WAS NOT just tendinitis, it was actually problems that occured due to physical therapy. I get the impression Peter is in a lot of pain, (my impression, not something George said). George did say Peter is really stretching to finish the tour, but that he will make it and take some much deserved rest, when the tour is over. He made it very clear, that the band, the managers and the crew are all very tired. That perhaps the tour was a little ambitious, but a nice rest after the tour, will really help! I guess we as fans need to remember that, when the tour ends, and not just scream for a new album two days afterward!! :) George Sewitt says he reads most of what gets printed on the Ace site, most of it just printed out and handed to him, by others, says he's seen and heard of the Ace site for a long time. He loves it and will cooperate with us more to make it better. I wish there was more to say, but I started to hear guitar strumming in the background and it was time for George to get off the phone...hopefully these calls will be a little more regular, and I will keep you all informed as they happen... "Douglas, I got to tell you, your web site is just great! Go get 'em kid. We love it!" - George Sewitt on AceFrehley.Com
From: KNN Fans attending the NY KISS Expo will be able to sign up for the KISS Visa cards. H&H Marketing will have the sign up forms at their table. There will also be booths starting Madison.
From: David Bower Here's the pertinent information from an article in The Record, Canada's weekly music business newspaper. I've only included the two paragraphs that contain information on the guitarist jam session. Here goes...
"Music West '97 is all set ro rock and roll all nite"
VANCOUVER: A return to the city's posh Trade & Convention Centre, a
guitar marathon keyed to KISS classic "Rock And Roll All Nite", and a
strong contingent of U.S. guests led by Virgin America president Phil
Quartararo and Reprise Records chief Howie Klein will highlight the
eighth annual Music West, set for May 8-11.

From: Nancy Just thought I'd let you know that the Detroit Red Wings are using "Detroit Rock City" as their theme song for the playoffs!! Okay, so it's a cover band doing the vocals but it's a pretty cool thing anyway. KISS and the Wings--what a combo!

This week, The Onion, a highly satirical newspaper available online (I read it every week), has an article about the Kiss Army not truly, "rocking and rolling all nite." Quite amusing despite the incorrect reference to 'Parasite' being on Rock and Roll Over. He he he.
From: Gerri Miller of Metal Edge Magazine Talked to Peter Criss today. He's still in some pain and is wearing braces on both arms all day with the exception of the show, but is carrying on for the tour, now going through July 5 (though four and five shows in a row are tough) and is very much looking forward to resting when it's all over. He said Eddie was scared shitless about playing the Columbus show but also said that if anyone had to take his place it should be Ed. I'll have more when I transcribe it.
Yeah, one year ago today KISS was doing their press conference on the Intrepid to announce the reunion tour. Man, time sure has flown by!!
Check out The KISS Asylum Chat Info Page to get info on the new chat format. This chat tonight will NOT be at the AceFrehly.com page. We will be using "The Palace" graphical chat software. Please give it a chance!! We would love to see you there!!!! =)
From: KNN News Feed / KISS otaku Hoping to confirm Eddie Kramer as the new producer, I called McGhee Entertainment. Well, he has NOT been confirmed and the band is still talking to other producers.
From: KNN News Feed / Doug Snazel Check out... http://www.musicwest.com/guitar.htm News on the fact that Bruce Kulick is doing a guitar marathon for Music West in Vancouver, the day before the Kiss show, in Vancouver. A little bird told me that Bruce will be attempting some kind of guitar playing record/marathon, and he will be performing Kiss material for his performance.
From: KNN News Feed / ZakkNick@aol.com Ex- Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke is currently touring the US with Ex-Kiss drummer Eric Singer.... their set list include many CT cover songs such as Surrender and Hello There...
From: KNN News Feed / KISS otaku Richie Scarlet is no longer in Tygerrs Lair, details will follow shortly.
From: KNN News Feed / Mark McLaughlin This info came to be from Immortal Records - I do a Korn page, and so they told me... but you oughta be interested! SPAWN Immortal will be releasing the soundtrack for Spawn, the New Line Cinema production is based on the successful comic series. The soundtrack will feature collaborations by dance/electronic artists and hard edged alternative bands. already confirmed to participate on the album are Goldie, 808 State, The Orb, 311, Sublime, Korn, Soundgarden, Filter, The Dust Brothers, Henry Rollins, KISS, and Stabbing Westward.

From: Joe Foster This may be old news, but I was watching ECW wrestling (Extreme Championship Wrestling) the other day, and they have done a takeoff of WCW's New World Order and called it the "Blue World Order" all decked out in Blue B.W.O T shirts. Anyway, they have a 2 minute BWO promo on now that airs every week and in one of the clips 4 of the guys hit the ring prancin around in full KISS makeup! Thought that was kinda cool. On a sidenote, a fan at WCW Monday Nitro was sighted a few weeks ago sporting Gene makeup. KISS vs Hulk Hogan & NWO? Hmmm....
From: Larry Dyer I was thumbing through the Suday edition of the Des Moines Register on Sunday and when I got to the Entertainment section I was greeted by a HUGE picture of our beloved God of Thunder in all his splender in a picture taken when KISS was in Moline in July. The article took up the entire front page of the section and it was announcing or should I say reminding all members of the Quad Cities area that our favorite 3-D superheroes are returning on Saturday in Ames, IA and Sunday in Cedar Rapids, IA. The author also sounded like one of the KISS fans who "took the 80's off" because of the way he referred to Vinnie Vincent, Mark St. John, Eric Singer and even Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr as "hired hands" while the original four were split up. The only down side to a rather well written article that brightened up my Sunday.

I added a new review of this KISS magazine in my KISS Views section under KISS fan's misc. reviews. Check it out.
From: Eroz56@aol.com Was just going through the cable channels and saw the KISS hockey commercial for FOX. I only caught the last part of it. It was on QVC, they were doing a hockey show to sell some stuff. It showed KISS singing Rock n' Roll All Night with clips of hockey games. The part of the song that goes "we'll drive you crazy" is replaced by the words "you'll go cup crazy"..

From: Ted Schmitz Just got word at work (musicland) that we are taking pre-orders on the KISS action figures to be released on June 4th. To reserve them, all you need to do is put $2 down (per figure). This deposit comes out of the price when you pick up your figures. I believe this is a company wide thing, so check it out!
From: Sinner When KISS was in Japan this year, they filmed two commercials for the Japan T.V., they are awesome. If you wanna see it, go to the Sinner web page. KISS SINNER:http://members.wbs.net/homepages/s/i/n/sinner13.html
From: Joe of KISS Hell (KISS Hell Online) I Spoke with Eric Singer Monday night to ask about a few things. The rumours about him playing with Ozzy are completely untrue. He said he'd even heard rumours that he was playing with Styx-again completely untrue. He's been playing some local club shows with a just for fun cover band called Don't Touch Grandpa-with Eric on drums&vocals, Gilby Clarke on guitar&vocals, Phil Soussan on bass&vocals & Ryan Roxy on lead guitar/vocals. They all switch off on lead vocals. "Nothin' to Lose" is the only KISS song-which Eric sings. They will be playing some Las Vegas area shows in the near future. Eric appears on 2 upcoming CD's including a Rod Stewart tribute album (import) where he sings lead & plays drums on "Let Me Love You" & plays drums on "Ballad Of Georgy." He also appears on Gilby Clarke's new solo album where he drums & sings lead on a song called "The Worst." He didn't know anything about the Spawn soundtrack-basically what we all know-that "Hate" may be one of the songs. I asked if he thought "I Walk Alone" was likely & he didn't think so.
From: Erik Cram The KISS Dolls by MacFarlane Toys is featured on the cover of the May 1997 Issue of White's Guide to COLLECTING FIGURES Magazine. There are 3 Different covers, the Dolls are on the Comic Edition Cover. There is also an interview with Gene inside talking about the figures, the band's future, the feature film and lots more. Also an interview with Todd MacFarlane about KISS and the figures. VERY NICE!

From: KISSprof Gene Simmons was just interviewed on WWCT Rock 106 FM in Peoria in preparation for tomorrows concert here. He said basically the standard stuff we have all heard before ("any fat girls will lose five pounds, etc.) that we have all heard before but the DJ's thought was just hilarious. He said his favorite album was either KISS or DESTROYER. Also, the Madison Theater in Peoria is holding a KISS pre-party tonight showing KISS Meets The Phantom. I can't wait!
I talked to John Regan today. He knows about the problems of fans finding this album and he talked to Megaforce about it. They should fix the problem. Be patient.
From: Thomg33@aol.com There is a little segment about the new Kiss dolls in the April 25 1997 edition of TOY SHOP magazine and I thought I would pass it along. The following is a part of an article on the 1997 Tyco Toy Fair and the Kiss dolls are one of the top ten picks for future collectibility: 7. KISS action figures, McFarlane Toys. It's Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley as a cross between wild rockers and Spawn warriors. The details are breathtaking - from Simmons' tounge and makeup to intricately-designed instruments/weapons and rooted hair. Keep this KISS on your list- Mego's 1979 dolls may have been bigger, but these really rock!
From: Clausen Just read a short news article in the sports section of the newspaper. Apparently FOX will air a commercial during the Stanley Cup playoffs featuring KISS. This is an attempt to boost hockey popularity in the U.S.. They will also use spots with Aerosmith and Mettalica as well as a bunch of hollywood celebs. The story is from the Canadian Press. I'm sure you will hear more about this commercial in the next week or so since the playoffs start on the 16th of this month.

From: Puppyo Just read this on Concert Connection: [4/9/97] Kiss has tapped veteran producer Eddie Kramer -- who's worked with Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin -- to helm their first studio album in 18 years. "Kiss fans want a new record and we do too" Gene Simmons told Metal Edge magazine. Production will begin in October, with an early 1998 release targeted. First, the band must complete its "Lost Cities" tour, which will see Kiss exploding and bleeding across stages usually overlooked on rock tours. The new set list includes a cover of "2000 Man" by the Rolling Stones, according to Friday Morning Quarterback. In other news, the band has just released "Greatest Kiss," yet another greatest hits package, this time digitally remastered. The track list includes: "Detroit Rock City," "Hard Luck Woman," "Deuce," "Calling Dr. Love," "Flaming Youth," and 11 other tunes.
From: Brad Adamson Saw the strangest one by far last week. And in the most unlikely place. Up in the sky! A skywriter was about half-way done with the KISS logo! When I spotted him, he had done the two S's (very well I might add.) Took him about an hour to do the whole thing. Wish I'd had a camera :/
From: Steve Corral It seems as though magazine publishers are finally realizing that KISS sells. On the cover of the latest issue of "Wolff Marshall's Guitar One" magazine is none other than Ace with a new interview inside. Ace talks about his influences like Eric Clapton.
From: Steve Gerlach THE PETER CRISS CAT CLUB "ROCK US!" PETITION The Peter Criss Cat Club! is proud to be fighting to get Peter's two solo albums "Out Of Control" and "Let Me Rock You" released on CD! With KISS once again the hottest band in the world, and following Ace Frehley's "12 Picks" CD, now is certainly the best time for this to happen and we demand Polygram release them soon. Please take a minute of your time to follow the link below, fill in the petition, and do your bit to help Peter Rock Us! http://www.crafti.com.au/~gerlach/crisclub.htm
From: Steve Corral Ace is on the cover of the latest issue of Guitar World. It has a great interview in which he discusses his signature model Les Paul that will be available this Summer in a lower priced model than the limited shown at the Winter NAMM show. The centerfold is of Ace holding his guitar while sitting on a much larger version that looks like he's flying on it. Great to hang in your cubicle at work.

From: Joe Montagna (Paul from DRESSED TO KILL) The band that was and still is on those Comedy Central commercials is New York City's own DRESSED TO KILL. I am the Paul Stanley in the band and we were picked when someone in the office called the ROCK N ROLL cafe, where we play here in the city, and asked for an 'outrageous' act. The KISS look spoke for itself, I guess. We are starting a nationwide tour of the states July 5th and playing everywhere thru 1997, if you want some info, you can E-mail us at JAMVH@aol.com. I would like to know what you thought of our look, if you remember, thanks!

Kiss Drummer Misses Show Due To "Sore Muscles" April 8 [10:00 EST] -- Fans in Columbus, Georgia hoping to bask in the costumed glory of the four original members of Kiss in concert got three-quarters of what they bargained for Saturday night. The band's original drummer, Peter Criss, missed the show at the Columbus Civic Center due to "sore muscles." Criss' drum technician Ed Cannon filled in with hastily-applied cat makeup. Criss is back behind the drum kit now, and all four members play Evansville, Indiana on Tuesday. The group also turns up in record stores across the country on Tuesday, as Kiss' 29th album, a digitally re-mastered hits compilation called "Greatest Kiss," arrives in record racks. All the highlights from the Kiss canon are featured on the album, including "Rock & Roll All Night," "Strutter," and "Cold Gin." This album, however, is a prelude to a larger undertaking: this summer's release of re-mastered versions of the group's first 17 albums. Fans should also keep an eye out for guitarist Ace Frehley's new solo album, "12 Picks," which is due any day now.
From: Michel Sluyter There was a (very) little piece on Kiss in the new Ninteno magazine (England). They did a joke about who should play who in a new movie about Mario. The suggested that Gene should play Yoshi (the little dragon with the long tongue). There was a picture of Gene next to it. The comment next to the picture was "Has tongue that reaches the parts..."

From: Gerri Miller of Metal Edge Magazine I got some insight on the Peter replacement situation today from Tommy Thayer. Peter had been feeling ill when the band arrived in Columbus and had a lot of pain in his arms. In the late afternoon, he met with a doctor at the hotel and had a massage, but he felt no better and decided he couldn't play the show--with which the doctor concurred. But the venue doors had already opened at that point and it was too late to cancel. If there had been more notice, the show would have been canceled but it got too late to do that. Peter is better now and as you know performed in Nashville Sunday night. I'm hoping to talk to one or more KISS members in this week for comments.
From: ZakkNick@aol.com He does indeed, but his nagging shoulder problem just won't go away. He'll survive on cortisone for the rest of the tour, but surgery is imminent afterwards.
From: Michael Tannacore I was watching TV and I came across Comedy Central. They had a commercial for a new show about taxes. In the commercial, a woman was interviewing a KISS Tribute Band (I don't know which one). The band was posing for the camera like Ace waving around his guitar, and Gene spitting out blood. She asked them questions like, "Can you write off rock & roll" and the band answered yes. Then she asked them, "But can you write off partying every day" and the band all shook their heads and said no. It was pretty funny and surprising to see a KISS tribute band in a commercial for a show about taxes.

From: spine1@worldnet.att.net I saw Peter at the hotel room after they had flown in. I had been on call all day not knowing when they would arrive. Peter made the decision to have his drum tech play...Nashville is a bigger venue and more importatant than Columbus...difficult for me to say that since I live here but true none the less..More importantly Peter was also thinking about his health and career...his own words..."health and career"...This man acted like a champion a warrior...I deal with sports medicine all day long..he did not want let the fans down..I look at it like football ..if one guy goes down the others play...true it would be hard if it were Paul or the others...hard enough the way it happened...Peter was totally bummed at not playing...totally...just like any athlete I see that can't play...no difference at all....you could hear it in his tone of voice...you could see it on his face...more so his eyes...this is part of KISSTORY...he said he had never missed a show...I asked him if his tech would wear his attire and he paused and said, "You know I really don't know...this has never happened before." obviously a decision had to be made and the tech did wear Peters stuff....Peters' a great guy . I told him that I had seen them in the 70s( early time )...talked about how my brothers' band open for his at a local nightclub called the chickasaw...he laughed...he said he didn't remember my brother but who could forget the chickasaw...I then told him that my sons' first concert would be that night...it was his first because Silverchair in Atlanta was on a school night...anyway my sons' grades were good and on a friday..Peter then said his daughter had been with him on tour the week before for spring break...He said she had gotten straight As...and that the break had been to short for them..I for on have even more respect for them for caring about Peter and he for his family....I hope he does well in Nashville tonight....My son and I and the entire medical staff were on our chairs the whole night.....I hope people realize that the decision was based on Peters health and the bands feelings for the fans that had made the trip...Sure I was disappointed that Peter couldn't play...I told him....but I also told him his health and career were more important.... I know this was a long posting...and I don't have a [AOL] profile...like it makes a difference I could put any thing I wanted to on it..just check out how many people are Gene Simmons in your member directory....Anyway...just wanted to set the record straight.
From: KingCool I just got back from the Columbus show and I witnessed something I still can't believe. THEY HAD SOME GUY DRESSED IN PETER'S MAKE-UP PLAYING DRUMS!!!! The sad thing is, I didn't even notice until they started into King Of The Nighttime World and then pointed it out to MKissed who hadn't noticed yet. Paul came on after KOTNW and said something like "Peter is sick tonight and back in the hotel room, but we wanted to come out here and kick your ass so we got Eddie Cochran (I think that's the name) on drums. He's Peter's best friend." This guy was wearing Peter's Cat Make-up and wearing his outfit (or one just like it for him). I can't believe they would do this To have a substitute is bad enough, but to put Peter's make-up on him is outright ludricrous. They single handedly destroyed any mystique the make-up ever had for me in the space of 2 minutes. They played the rest of the show pretty much as is, except no drum solo in God Of Thunder, no Beth, and Paul sang Black Diamond. They didn't go up on the Cherry Pickers, but "Eddie" was lifted all the way up on the drum riser. This is totally bizarre and I'm not kidding at all... I'm still somewhat in a state of shock so I will post anything I'm forgetting later. I had 3rd row tickets tonight and just stood there the whole time. I just could not stand there and cheer for this joke they were trying to pass off.
From: John M. Dees Just returned from the Columbus, Ga. show. The show started about thirty minutes late, and when the band took the stage I knew it was not Peter playing. Around the third song Paul announced that Peter was sick, and he was back at the hotel. The guy that was sitting in for him was Eddie Cannon, Peters best friend, according to Paul. He did a good job, but I am glad they did not try to pass him off as Peter. The rest of the show was fine, no real major problems except they did not use the moving platforms at all. I guess I am a little disapointed that this was the last show on this tour that i will see, and I didnt even get to see the original lineup.

The Rodman World Tour on MTV tonight will be a rerun of the "Dennis & Hootie sing Calling Dr. Love" episode. Airs @ 10:30pm EDT.
From: NYGroove79@aol.com I was watching Jeopardy today and the category was pop-rock muscic. The question for $100 was "The four members of the group, including Gene Simmons, reunited in 1996" It was answered correctly right away but it was neat anyway.
