Kiss is in the process of revealing the cover for its upcoming album, Monster, a little bit at a time. Using their recently launched Monster Hunt Facebook app, the rockers have been exposing portions of the image at various websites around the Internet since earlier in the week. The album cover will be unveiled in its entirety on Monday.
In a new interview with RollingStone.com, Kiss bassist/singer Gene Simmons sings the praises of Monster, which will be released on October 16.
“If this was a first record by a new band, I’d be floored,” he gushes.
With regard to material on the record, Simmons says Kiss’ faithful fans will be treated to one hard-rocking tune after the next. “If you like guitars and drums, this is right up your alley,” Simmons declares. “Which is better than right up your ass. It’s relentless till the end.”
Noting that Monster‘s no-frills sound is reminiscent of Kiss’ first three albums, he adds, “It’s straight meat and potatoes. No…ballads, no string choirs, no little boys doing a cappella, no eunuchs singing background.”
Simmons also says he wouldn’t mind it if Kiss played Monster in its entirety at some of their upcoming shows, noting, “It would sound the same as the record because that’s the way it was recorded.”
