Are you smarter than a Rockstar? That was what the invite to KISS by Monster Mini Golfhad said. The winner would get a chance to attend Rock n Roll Fantasy Camp.
After eight weeks of competition, the audience was going to see who was smarter than a Rockstar. Each week contestants battled it out with Rockstars to see who will go to Rock n Roll Fantasy Camp. The competition was hard as the contestants went up against Rockstar legends like Bruce Kulick from KISS, Paul Shortino from Quiet Riot, Oz Fox from Stryper and even Slaughter’s Blas Elias.
For the finals the contestants had to beatSebastian Bach formerly of the band Skid Row. The event started off with a meet and greet with the legendary singer. Sebastian Bach was very personable as he joked and posed with his fans.
Fans got great photos of Sebastian posing in the KISS Boots. I have seen many people try these boots on in the past. They are not easy to stand in much less walk in.Sebastian took to them so quickly. In some shots he only had one foot on the ground as he was giving his fans these incredible poses.
After the meet and greet, Sebastian wanted to tour the course. He was impressed with all the larger than life KISSobjects on the course. At one point he even jumped on stage with the animatronic KISS band. He pretended to sing as the smoke machines filled the air and lasers shot through the room.
Sebastian stepped back in the VIP room so the contestcould get on its way. The first order of business was filling the eighth seat. This was deemed the “Lucky Bastard” seat. After a slew of questions the judges came up with a winner. Geoff Kirkwood who flew in from Canada to see this show, won his place as the “Lucky Bastard.”
First they brought in the MC. Two lovely ladies in KISS style makeup escorted the MC to the contestant table. They had him in what appeared to be handcuffs and lead him by a leash. This was going to be interesting.
Next the ladies escorted the finalists to their seats one by one. Several people told me to keep an eye on finalist Taylor Carlson. They said he was a walking dictionary of musical knowledge. The other favorite to win was Zenon “Starchild” Obuchowsky. Starchild was in KISS makeup and ready for this competition to begin.
It was now time for Sebastian Bach to make his grand entrance. The crowd screamed and hollered as the legendary singer took his seat. This competition was going to be fore rounds. (“fore” – golf joke)
Sebastian knew his trivia. The finalists knew the game. The finalists were lighting quick on tagging the buzzer. Sebastian was at a disadvantage not playing the game before. Though it seemed that Sebastian was a good sport about it. The questions weren’t easy at all. The contestants had to answer questions, finish song lyrics, identify photos, and even guess a charade.
Starchild and Taylor weren’t even letting the judge finish the questions before answering. In the end, there could only be one winner. It turned out the person sitting in the “Lucky Bastard” seat would walk away as the winner of the “Are you smarter than a Rockstar” contest. Canadian, Geoff Kirkwood proved he was smarter than a Rockstar and will be enjoying three days of Rock n Roll Fantasy Camp.
