Nick and Sophie Tweed-Simmons Give Crowd Pleasing Singing Debut
Dan Savole | Rock Star Weekly
Nick and Sophie Tweed-Simmons
River Rock Casino Lulu’s Lounge
Richmond, BC
Nov. 26, 2011
Who would have thought that the offspring of Playboy Playmate Shannon Tweed and KISS demon Gene Simmons would hit the stage at the River Rock Casino as a viable lounge act? Nick and Sophie Tweed-Simmons performed four shows this weekend in Richmond, BC in their official singing debut. The duo, who performed for about an hour each, played classics mostly dating from the 40s to 60s from such artists as Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, The Jackson 5 and Cab Calloway.
Gene Simmons at at soggy Grey Cup parade
Dressed to Kill on Google Street Maps
No longer is making the long pilgrimage to NYC necessary to pay your respects to the famous KISS landmark, you can do it virtually from your own home.
Anyone walking along 8th Avenue in New York City might get a sudden jarring feeling that they are being watched by some slightly leery goons in face paint and ill-fitting suits.
That’s because the corner of 23rd Street and 8th is the location for Kiss’s third studio album cover.
The idea originally came from a photo-shoot for Creem magazine – depicting Kiss as superheroes, who would eventually swoop down to save an audience from the perceived ‘horrors’ of a John Denver concert.
One picture required the band to dress in their mild-mannered ‘Clark Kent’ suits, and photographer Bob Gruen took this picture as they were heading back to their car from the studio.
The only member of the band to actually own a suit was drummer Peter Criss, left, which explains why the rest of the band can barely fit in their borrowed threads (Gene Simmons, right, also borrowed the photographer’s wife’s pair of clogs).

WTHI-TV has an extensive video library of the events surrounding the 35th anniversary of the KISS Army. We particularly enjoyed the video of Bill Starkey visiting the old radio station in Terre Haute where the magic took place 35 years ago. Definitely check this out at the KISS Army video coverage archive.

Kiss shrine interferes with Verizon service
Fox16.com | Josh Rosenthal
LITTLE ROCK, AR – Stacie “Mack” McIntosh is not your typical stylist. This is not your typical salon.
About one year ago, two of Mack’s friends gave her a shrine dedicated to the band KISS as a gift. It sits in her salon and is about the size of an old-fashioned arcade game, covered in KISS pictures and memorabilia. The shrine’s centerpiece is a mock KISS stage, complete with a light show.
Mack says her friends gave it to her, “because we all love KISS, they loved me, and it was a way for them to take their memorabilia and let the world share in all of our love for KISS.”
Just one problem: Verizon says the shrine is interfering with their signal. They issued a statement, saying in part: “the interference is minimal and localized … the device interferes with the spectrum for which we are licensed.” Verizon wants Mack to get rid of the machine or at least leave it unplugged.
First Chapter of new ‘Music from the Elder’ book available now
In honor of the 30th anniversary of the release of ‘Music from the Elder,’ the most bizarre and unsuccessful album ever released by Kiss, comes the first chapter of an upcoming book exploring this strange, misguided and yet oddly lovable record. ‘Music from the Elder: The Unauthorized Story of the Most Spectacular Failure in the History of Kiss’ will be released in the spring of 2012.
The book will explore the odd circumstances that led the traditionally hard-rocking band to attempt a classical- and Broadway-influenced concept record about a young boy’s medieval

Theatrical Version of KISS’s Elder album to become a reality
We’ve received some rather amazing news about a theatrical release based on KISS’s 1981 concept album Music From the Elder. Independent film maker Seb Hunter is producing this “post-apocalyptic road movie” slated to start production summer 2012. Check out the movie’s website, we’re fascinated to see how this will develop! (Thanks to Stuart Bailey for sending this over!)

Ace trashes hotel room in classic video

In the spirit of Ace Frehley’s new book, No Regrets, we’re posting this oldie but goodie 1994 video of Ace demonstrating the art of hotel trashing in his own personal style. The fun starts at the 2:03 mark

As you all know, after my journeys to NYC and Brazil it was time to jump right into Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp. Always fun, this one was particularly exciting because of two factors. First, the Playboy Mansion was where the big event night for the final performances would be held. Second, naturally for me to have Paul Stanley as the headline guest has its significance. I always enjoy jamming and seeing him, and my
A GChat With Gene Simmons, Kiss Rocker And Ortsbo Partner
Youyoung Lee
Huffington Post
There are times when you refer to your GChat list for passing entertainment, to ping a workmate, or to see what that guy you last exchanged emails with in 2008 has posted as his status. Then there are times when you see Gene Simmons, whose availability was presently being marked by a bright green Google dot in my personal email.
“Hallo,” he wrote.
I have never been so excited to GChat with someone in my life.
“Hey!” I wrote back.
“Wie sagt man ‘Hey’ auf Deutsch?” Simmons wanted to know.
This was obviously no normal conversation, on GChat or otherwise. Beyond the occasional reunion with his Kiss bandmates and proposing, 28 years too late, to wife Shannon Tweed on “Gene Simmons Family Jewels,” Simmons is an active partner in Ortsbo, a software program that translates instant chats in real time. Now he was
graciously showing me how to use the software himself, with all incoming text from him translated immediately into German, a language I’m fluent in.

30th anniversary of Music From the Elder
Geeksofdoom.com
by cGt2099
GeeksOfDoom.com gives a surprisingly detailed insight into KISS’s most original, innovative and least popular studio album of all time. More than you ever thought you knew about this misunderstood work – definitely worth the read….
“When the Earth was young, they were already old…”
30 years ago on this day in KISStory, an album would be issued that would be a turning point, and at the time a low point, for the band and their fans. Music From The Elder, produced by the legendary Bob Ezrin (responsible for the epic Destroyer), was released by KISS on November 16, 1981. The release was a concept album, and a comprehensive departure for the band, which was negatively received by both fans and critics alike.
