Nick and Sophie Simmons, offspring of the newly married Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed made some news recently when they debuted their first performance together in Canada last weekend at the River Rock Casino Resort as part of the Grey Cup Festival.
As Rockstar Weekly covered it, “Who would have thought that the offspring of Playboy Playmate Shannon Tweed and KISS demon Gene Simmons would hit the stage at the River Rock Casino as a viable lounge act? Nick and Sophie Tweed-Simmons performed four shows this weekend in Richmond, BC in their official singing debut. The duo, who performed for about an hour each, played classics mostly dating from the ’40s to ’60s from such artists as Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, The Jackson 5 and Cab Calloway.”
Noisecreep caught up with Simmons today to get his thoughts on the duo’s first show. “Shannon and I were so proud watching Nick and Sophie’s debut performance in Canada,” the KISS vocalist/bassist told Noisecreep. “They’re hard workers and spent a lot of time rehearsing. They definitely knocked it out of the park.”
That wasn’t all we wanted to ask Simmons about. A massive billboard was recently unveiled in New York City’s famed Times Square featuring the Demon’s famous mug.
The advertisement is for Motorola’s MotoACTV MP3 player and features an image three stories high of everyone’s favorite fire breathing blood spewer. The billboard is near the site of the old Hotel Diplomat where KISS played some of its first shows together back in 1973.
“This MotoACTV Gene Simmons billboard in Times Square with its 30 foot image of my beautiful Demon face is Motorola bravely showing just how iconic they and KISS are throughout the world,” Simmons told us.
