Who knew great white sharks were rock music fans?
Kiss are taking their live show to depths even they haven’t explored before with an announcement on Thursday that they’ll perform an underwater concert off the coast of Port Lincoln, South Australia, for eight “lucky” fans — and a group of great whites.
The bizarre stunt will take the rockers literally down under as part of a promotion for Airbnb’s new Animal Experiences travel option.
Kiss and their crew will travel on Nov. 18 in separate boats off the coast of southern Australia, and while the band stays above board on one vessel, the accompanying fans will be lowered beneath the surface of the water from a second boat into a viewing submarine in an area known for shark activity, according to the Associated Press.
Blasting from underwater speakers, Kiss hits like “Hotter Than Hell” will also be enjoyed by the largest predators in the ocean. Kiss will be in full makeup and costumes for the concert, which will be at least four songs.
“I was a little taken aback by it, but they explained that sharks are attracted to low frequencies and so they’re attracted to rock ‘n’ roll,” singer and guitarist Paul Stanley told the AP. “Since we’re going to be in Australia, it gives a whole new meaning to doing a concert down under
“I’m not sure how much of us the sharks can take,” Stanley added. “I’m hoping they know ‘Rock And Roll All Nite.’”
The first-come, first-served event costs $52, and proceeds will go to charity, Airbnb said. Reservations can be made starting at 6 p.m. ET on airbnb.com/KISS on Oct. 14.

Welcome to “Shark Rock City,” where KISS will perform a live set off the southern coast of Australia to entice sharks, who love the low-frequency sounds of rock and roll.
This once-in-a-lifetime ocean concert takes place on November 18, 2019, in Port Lincoln, where you’ll board a boat at 6:30 a.m. and cruise along the coastline looking for birds, dolphins, and other wildlife. For the main event, you’ll head out to the deep waters of the Indian Ocean–one of the biggest feeding grounds for great whites.
As KISS rocks out above water, you’ll also get to see what’s down under it. Watch from a glass bottom boat as the music attracts the legendary band’s biggest (underwater) fans. KISS has played plenty of wild shows in the past, but this one will top them all.
Other cute travel opportunities as part of the new Airbnb Animal Experiences includes kayaking with Corgis in Florida, having afternoon tea with “naughty” sheep in Scotland, horse whispering in Spain and drinking beer with rescue dogs in Seattle.

Life is better with animals, but for many busy people, looking at them through a screen is the closest they can get. With Airbnb Animal Experiences, locals and travelers are just a few clicks away from being alongside them in the real world.”
All experiences will follow a progressive new animal welfare policy, created in conjunction with World Animal Protection, that includes no contact with wild animals and no animals used in entertainment.
