KISStorianBrothers – Unmasking Julian Gill of KISSFAQ

David Ashdown

Rock Historian, Author, Podcaster, Youtuber, English spy and KISS fanatic (“we’re not the Free Masons”) JULIAN GILL of KISSFAQ.com unmasks to walk the plank with KISStorian Brothers, ever-humbly sharing his candid thoughts on any & all things KISS. The discussion takes us from the early days of KISSFAQ, online now since 1996, to the interviewing process that went into the writing of his benchmarks books on the band, most notably Gene, Ace, Peter & Paul; A detailed exploration of the 1978 KISS solo albums and Odyssey, the definitive examination of “Music From The Elder”, KISS’ cult-classic concept album. Few Black Diamonds are left in the rough as we ramble from Ace to Vinnie, Angel, Starz, Ken, Daniel, Mark, Bruce, Bob, Sean, Toby, Mark, Peter, Poncia, Doc, EOTR & beyond. Any Way You Slice it, we find out Julian was born under the full eclipse of an Asylum moon. Bewitched, and A Creature Of The Night ever since, it can be argued that the mans dedication to KISStory, to getting the story right, and ultimately to us the fans is rivaled by few, save members of the ‘family’. Thank you, Julian!  – KISStorian.com

Former CREEM Editor DUSTY WRIGHT talks KISS

David Ashdown

Decidedly twangy & slightly esoteric New York based musician, producer, writer and former Editor-in-Chief of Creem Magazine, Mark Patracca, aka DUSTY WRIGHT, takes time out to share a few KISS stories from a life on the front-lines of rock & roll …The curator of Culture Catch, Dusty is as well-steeped an entertainment authority & aficionado as one might ever hope to meet (and a pretty good sport as he leans towards prog rock & punk, and admitted he doesn’t own a KISS record!!!). Dusty’s worn more hats in the biz than the guys on Bonanza, it’s no wonder people call him ‘the metaphysical cowboy’. He even ran Prince‘s fanzine, spending weeks at a time at Paisley Park  …Dusty takes us from his first hearing “Strutter” on WMMS The Buzzard in Cleveland in ’73 to meeting Gene Simmons in ’92 to hear the Revenge pitch, stopping off on the way to ‘alleged goings-on’ July 23rd of ’75 when KISS recorded their set in Wildwood, NJ, some of which would be used on their ultimate breakthrough ALIVE! …I forgot to ask if Dusty’s willing now to enlist. His wife did date Paul Stanley at one point. We’ll call it even. That’s rock & roll – KISStorian.com
