Either in collaboration with Paul Stanley or by himself, Gene Simmons has had a major hand in creating some of arena rock’s most renowned tunes, tops being such Kiss classics as “Rock and Roll All Nite“, “Shout It Out Loud“, “I Love It Loud“, etc. And throughout it all, he has always put the importance of penning a memorable song over simply trying to go “prog” or “shred.”
During an interview with Adam Carolla, Simmons discussed the craft of songwriting. And also, explained how the more complex a song is doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better, nor is being able to read music a necessity when it comes to composing a rock tune (transcribed by Ultimate Guitar).
