Would you buy life insurance from a man who dresses in spandex and coughs up blood?

The star of a reality series, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, gearing up for its seventh season on the A&E network.

Click To Enlarge KISS Bassist Undeterred By Jerusalem Bombing
From: DesertNews.com

The legendary KISS bassist Gene Simmons says that watching Jerusalem go through a deadly bombing this week has not changed his belief that Jews and Arabs can live in peace.

The Israeli-born entertainer, on his first visit to his homeland since leaving as a child 52 years ago, said he was visiting Yad Vashem, the country's national Holocaust memorial, at the time of Wednesday's blast. The memorial is about two miles away from the site.

Simmons said the attack, which killed a female British tourist, was the work of extremists who can't cope with the move toward freedom and democracy sweeping through the Arab world. "We can't give these losers headlines," he told The Associated Press on Friday.

"There's one thing that unites Israelis, Arabs and all humanity. We all strive to be free," he said. "There's a new generation of Arabs who are doing astonishing things. ... We have to take a moment to honor Arabs for having the courage to stand up."

Click To Enlarge Gene On New Limp Bizkit Album
From: Gibson.com

Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst says Lil Wayne has added vocals to the band's new album, reports NME.com. The rapper lends his famous rhymes to a track called, "Ready to Go," which is slated to be included on the rap-rock band's fifth studio album, Gold Cobra.

The announcement came via Twitter: "Oh, excuse me, 16th song mixed is, 'Ready to Go,' featuring Lil Wayne! I love it," Durst tweeted.

Durst also used Twitter to hint that Limp Bizkit is working on not one, but two albums: "Obviously we have two albums here, in case you didn't pick up on that. First one is Gold Cobra. Due soon," he proclaimed, after announcing the 17th song is mixed and will be titled, "Tell to Tale."

Other guest appearances on Gold Cobra include Wu-Tang Clan rapper Raekwon and KISS bass player Gene Simmons, who has laid down the voiceover for the CD’s intro.

Gold Cobra does not have a release date yet, but NME.com reports Durst hopes it will come out by the end of the summer. The album will be the first the group have recorded with guitarist Wes Borland back on board.

Did you also know that 1 out of 5 teens has a hearing loss? That's a 30 percent increase just in the last 15 years.

Maybe that explains why the legendary front man who has sold over 100 million albums is so passionate about preventing hearing loss amongst teens.

Stanley, has teamed-up with the non-profit House Research Institute on a major initiative called "IT'S HOW YOU LISTEN THAT COUNTS" to educate millions of teens around the world on preventing noise-induced hearing loss.

Click To Enlarge PS Guitar Dream
From: Gianni

Just felt the need to share this new great KISS moment in my life...

As a KISS fan and guitarist I've collected a number of KISS guitars throughout the years. However the guitar that always intrigued me was the BC Rich Eagle Leopard that Paul Stanley used throughout the Creatures era. That particular guitar always stuck out amongst the others and I was a guitar that I desired for many years

Having shown an interest in finding this guitar and posting a comment on KOL about 5 years ago, many fans from around the world sent me all the information that I required - basically that the guitar was a PS prototype and that it was impossible to find a similar guitar - but my only chance was to replicate it.

So my 'mission' started - making the exact same BC Rich Eagle (1981 model), same headstock, same fret inlays, same pick-ups with the same wiring and obviously the same leopard design.

Click To Enlarge Bruce Kulick: Playing Guitar Like A Bat Out Of Hell

Bruce Kulick is the ultimate journeyman guitarist. Over a glorious career, this legendary shredder has held the line for rock 'n' roll with some of the greatest outfits in its history. Most associate his name with KISS but things really got rolling for Kulick with his brother Bob on the Bat Out of Hell tour of '77-'78. In fact, if you have the re-release, there are two live tracks with the Kulick brothers figuring prominently.

On the, "...two live tracks from 1978, ... feature Bob and I very clearly. I'm on the left. He's on the right, in your stereo imaging," Kulick said while on the phone with us about his first days in the business.

"It's ironic you bring it up because yesterday at the gym I decided to listen to Bat Out of Hell. As Kulick worked out he was, "...just trying to put [himself] in that mind frame. I could just see my hands on the fingerboard even though I haven't played [the intro] song in ages. We [did] this intro Bolero piece that the show would always start with, and then we would go into a very bombastic version of Bat Out of Hell." The experience of the tour ran the gambit from 'totally misunderstood' to 'best new thing'.

RADIOACTIVE METAL: Webhead

This episode of RADIOACTIVE METAL Originally aired on PURE ROCK RADIO February 24th, 2011. Band interviews are awesome and Metal music is the focal point of our beloved genre, but the artists and their art tell only half the story. RAM likes to dig a little deeper to cover all the aspects and angles. It's 2011 and the interweb has made "The Biz" into a whole new ballgame, with one of the starting line-up players being MICHAEL BRANDVOLD. Michael is renouned for his role in and development of webwork for KISS and the V.I.P. concert experience, not to mention the man is a bonafide AVN AWARD winner (The Oscars of the adult film industry)!! We had a very educational and entertaining chat with this "webhead" that had our intellectual "spider sense" tingling. In our INDIE SPOTLIGHT section we introduce the ironically monickered U.K. scenesters THE OCEAN BETWEEN US. Horns Up!!!

Click To Enlarge KISS Vs The Irish: It's A Show That Pits Face Paint Against Pots O' Gold
From: Broward/Palm Beach New Times

KISS us; we're Irish. St. Patrick's Day's creepy little green guy will be overshadowed by larger, possibly more satanic, man-monsters this year when KISS brings its "Hottest Show on Earth Tour" to the Seminole Hard Rock on March 17 - one of only two scheduled North American appearances for 2011 so far. This comes as great news for those of us who feel that the old beer-jig-puke routine is getting old and that the reign of the leprechaun has gone on for long enough.

KISS - which currently features Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, and two other dudes painted like Ace Frehley and Peter Criss - is working on a new album, which means we may be treated to a few new songs. Of course, we're thinking that the new songs will not be the big news at this show, which is obviously an attempt by KISS to overthrow the leprechaun. Here are a few predictions for the upcoming green-versus-black battle of St. Patrick.

Ace Frehley made a rare autograph signing appearance last weekend in Cherry Hill NJ at the Monster Mania convention. Tons of KISS fans were there, lines were hours long, but well worth the wait as Ace signed autographs and took photos and didn't leave until every single fan was taken care of. There was some confusion about a question and answer session - it appears the convention promoters had added it as an after-thought and then cancelled it without Ace's knowledge. Besides that, the event was a hit with fans and everyone was happy that we spoke to there. You can see photos of the event at the link below.

From: Miami Herald

You want a guaranteed good time on St. Patrick's Day? KISS is bringing its special brand of entertainment to Hard Rock Live for a show that will (sham) rock like no other. Known for blood-spewing, pyrotechnic-happy shows, the boys - including original members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley - promise to bring it. We spoke with 59-year-old Stanley, whose wife is expecting a girl in August.

Why did you decide to do only three shows, one in South Florida?

We are really not on tour. We had a few shows booked quite awhile ago, and rather than cancel them we decided to get out there and do a few. It is what we love doing, and we are in pre-production on the next album, and so it only makes us want to go out and play that much more.

How much rehearsal do you do?

Click To Enlarge KISS In San Juan - Recap
From: Antonio

Music to be "rocking" all night to, enough fireworks to unnerve any firefighter and a lighting system that could easily power a small town for weeks. That's what was experienced the night of March 12 at the Coliseo Jose Miguel Agrelot, after which there was no doubt why KISS' concerts are dubbed "The Hottest Show On Earth."

Starting at 9:00 pm with the mythical "You Wanted The Best, You Got the Best, the Hottest Band in the World ... KISS!" intro, the legendary band (Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer) gave a 2-hour, detailed lesson on how to present a great rock show.

Alternating between classic repertoire (Deuce, Cold Gin, 100.000 Years among others), songs from the 80's (Crazy Nights and Lick It Up) and songs from their latest CD "Sonic Boom" (Modern Day Delillah, Say Yeah and Animal) the show proved to be an audio/visual feast for the fans, which will no doubt use it as benchmark to compare future concerts.

The Tampa Bay Lightning couldn't overcome a 2-1 deficit inside the St Pete Times Forum on Friday evening, but rocker Ace Frehley and his band jammed outside to exhilarate the crowd after the disappointing loss to the Ottawa Senators.

An evening of Hockey plus Rock & Roll equals euphoria. The St Pete Times Forum's idea of mixing the both for one gratifying evening was pure genius. A-Rod and Cameron Diaz even watched from one of the suites.

When the near capacity crowd exited the arena, Ex-KISS rock and roll hero 'Space Ace' Frehley electrified the audience with several big-league guitar solos on his Gibson Les Paul.

Click To Enlarge Gene Simmons & His Tongue On A Condom - Every Jewish Mother's Dream
From: JewishJournal.com

I am sure that Gene Simmons' mother is proud of him. He is a good Jewish kid who followed his dreams and ended up with fame and fortune. While I'm sure she loves his long-time girlfriend and their two kids, there must be a tiny part of her that is disappointed he didn't settle down with a Jewish girl.

Any bad feelings she may have felt must now be completely forgiven. What could he have done to inspire such forgiveness and love from his mother? He is putting his face on a condom! As a Jewish mother, I can tell you that nothing would make me prouder of my son than his face on a condom.

Gene Simmons is the king of marketing and branding his name and likeness. You can find KISS on just about anything and I am surprised it took him this long to break into the condom market. Perhaps "break" is not a word you want associated with condoms, but you know what I mean.

Click To Enlarge Gene On New Album And Original Band Reunion
From: BraveWords.com

KISS bass/vocalist Gene Simmons spoke with DJ JC Green of Alfa Rock 105.7 FM and Metal Messiah Radio's Heavy Metal Thunder program this week to promote their March 12th show at Coliseo de Puerto Rico in Hato Rey. Simmons spoke about the band's follow-up to Sonic Boom and answered the burning question - will the original line-up (Simmons, frontman Paul Stanley, guitarist Ace Frehley, drummer Peter Criss) reunite once again? Excerpts from the chat follow:

Simmons on new album: "The new record, which we already started working on - we start recording in three weeks - is going to be the next step to Sonic Boom. Very similar, straight rock songs, no ballads, no keyboards, no nothing, just rock. We have brand new songs that we've been writing. We've been writing a lot and there's some very good material and that's what we are going to record. A lot of the songs have been written by the whole band together, so no outside writers, just the band doing what it did on the first three records; write the songs ourselves. Once you know who you are are and how you breath - because every song is like an animal - you try to bring life to the song so it becomes real. Once you know who you are, it's easy to do - just do what the animal does without thinking about what's popular, what a producer would do. You just do it like you would naturally do it. We have almost all the songs written. In fact we have too many songs; about 20-25 things that look and sound good. It's a very busy time, but the album is going to take precedence."

Simmons on a reunion with the original band members: "There will be one more time that we will play together. Some time in the future there will be a last show. Sometime in the future we'll be in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. There will be one more time when we do it together to honour the beginning. But you know when you run a long-distance race, not everyone can run a long race. Some people are only good for the beginning of the race. They don't have the passion and the will, the endurance. Not everyone can run a long distance race."

The interview with Gene Simmons will air on Metal Messiah Radio this Wednesday, March 16th after 6PM EST. For more info visit Metalmessiahradio.com.

Click To Enlarge Gene Simmons Plants A KISS On Estate Planning For The Rich
From: DailyFinance.com

It's a long way from playing to 20,000 screaming fans in Detroit Rock City, but KISS co-founder and bassist Gene Simmons made sure his message to the 60-or-so suits in a Beverly Hills conference room was clear, if not quite as loud.

"At the end of the day, you need to think about three important things: mental health, physical health and financial health," Simmons said on Tuesday, speaking to the British American Business Council of Los Angeles (BABC LA) at Beverly Hills' Peninsula Hotel. "I'm in the highest tax bracket. What are my choices in life?"

Plenty of Green Behind the Black-and-White Makeup

Simmons was pitching Cool Springs Life Equity Strategy, a financial advisory group he joined last year to help broaden their client base and attract members of the well-heeled entertainment industry. The Franklin, Tenn.-based company, whose co-founders include former Transamerica executives David Carpenter and Simon Baitler, specializes in asset protection to individuals with a net worth of more than $20 million. More specifically, Cool Springs, among other things, secures large life insurance policies with little or no cash outlay by arranging for low-interest loans to pay the premiums.

From: KISSasylum.com

Our KISSasylum.com reporter and good friend Jerry down in the Tampa / St Pete Florida area was finally able to send us the last image in the series of the ongoing Tommy / Ace banner mix-up drama. As Jerry reported to us earlier, the promoters of the Ace Frehley post game concert set for March 11 mistakenly put the wrong Spaceman on the banners surrounding the stadium. Sure, Tommy looks great in the shot, but he will not be the one making an appearance that day! Upon realizing this, the banner had been quickly taken down for several days leaving a noticeable void. Finally on Monday the proper replacement had been made and all is once again well in the Universe.

Thanks to Jerry for staking out the arena day after day to give us this series of photographs covering this somewhat amusing debacle.

10 Lessons I Learned From KISS At Their School Of Marketing
From: Mike Brandvold

Most fans here already know all of this, but I thought I would share this article I just wrote. In the last week it has been getting alot of great response in the online music marketing/business communities. It was actually tagged as a Top Tweet a couple days ago.

10 Lessons I Learned from KISS at their School of Marketing

I am a KISS fan, going back to 1976 when my mom first bought me Rock N' Roll Over. I remember taking heat in the late 70s at school for liking the band, I heard the phrase "KISS sucks" more than a few times. It also took a lot of courage to wear a KISS t-shirt to school at the time... you became a instant target. I grew up with KISS and their marketing has clearly been a influence on me and business growth. I often tell people I went to the Gene Simmons School of Marketing.

Coming up with fresh TV material can be difficult - even if you're a rock icon with a porn-star wife.

For the next season of his A&E reality series, KISS singer Gene Simmons has solved the problem by planning a family trip - to the Holy Land.

Israel's Ynet news Web site is reporting that Simmons will visit later this month to film footage for "Gene Simmons: Family Jewels," a visit the article describes as a "roots trip."

The son of an Auschwitz survivor, Simmons was born Chaim Witz in Haifa, and moved to the United States at age 8. He remains fluent in Hebrew, the article says, but has never performed in Israel with KISS.

Traveling with Simmons will be the rest of the "Family Jewels" cast: children Nick and Sophie, and partner Shannon Tweed, a former Playboy Playmate of the Year.

As befits a family of TV stars, the Simmons' don’t travel light. Ynet reports that producers of the show have reserved no fewer than 21 hotel rooms for the visiting cast and crew.

11. Mr. Frehley's Wild Ride

Sometimes things sneak up on you. Like when you're accidentally going in excess of 100 miles per hour...on the Bronx River Express-way...against traffic. This all happened to KISS's lead guitarist (and greatest man alive) Ace Frehley in 1983. Believe it or not, he did this all while driving a Delorean, which inspires us to ask if he was trying to go back in time or not (If so, his attempts predate those of Emmett Brown by two years).
