Report From Paul's Planet Hollywood Appearance
From: Lefki
I just came back from seeing Paul at the Toronto Planet Hollywood. He was about 15 minutes late, but when he arrived he walked in like a normal person and walked up the stairs without anyone noticing. I did though, and my friend got a quick picture of it. They started to play Alive III and I'd say not even half of a Phantom song followed along with some sort of video in the back of Phantom (a promo piece). The DJ from Mix 99.9, who was promoting the event, was there with about 10 contest winners in front. The DJ then stated the famous words...."You Wanted the Best, You Got the Best...Paul Stanley!!!" A few screams circulated, including mine! The local news was there (CityTV) too. The DJ asked some normal questions about Phantom and how Paul felt coming back to Toronto. One fan asked, "What is your favorite song that you've ever written?" His response, "Love Gun. It says everything about me." All in all in was a good 10-15 minutes. The interview was extremely short. He looked great, had some glasses on (not sunglasses). Then he gave Planet Hollywood the Phantom Hat, along with his signed Washburn Guitar with Phantom stuff all over it. He was given a Planet Hollywood jacket and put it on. About 15 people got some things signed, including me, with pictures. It was a very short but sweet brush with the man himself. For anyone in Toronto, he will be on CityTV at 6:00 p.m. tonight and maybe some footage on CTV also.

Starfuckers, Inc.
From: KISS Asylum
There's something interesting in liner notes of "The Fragile," the new Nine Inch Nails album. Under the credits for the song, "Starfuckers, Inc.", it says, "contains elements of 'shout it out loud' performed by kiss used courtesy of mercury records under license from universal special markets inc." This is the only song on the album that used clips of another song. I'm not sure where these elements are. What is interesting about "Starfuckers, Inc." is that in 4 of the lines, Trent spliced together words recorded separately. They sound like what one might hear on a company's automated telephone menu system. Yet the KISS "elements" don't seem to present at that point. The song is one of a few on the album which attack Trent's ex-friend and ex-protege, Marilyn Manson. BTW, "Into The Void" seems a popular song title for rock groups. Black Sabbath has a track of that title. KISS has a track of that title on Psycho Circus. And now track two of disc two of "The Fragile" has that title as well.

New Peter Criss Fan Website: Catseyes.net
From: Colleen Songy
We just wanted to tell everyone about our new site dedicated to Peter Criss called Catseyes. Catseyes is a site for Peter and all his fans to explore his music before and after KISS. It also has new never before seen screen savers and wall paper, rare audio files from different years and the songs from Chelsea. The greatest thing about Catseyes is that I made a section called "Blue Moon Over Brooklyn" dedicated to his mother and thanking her for being a part of his musician influence. Also I'm asking all Peter Criss fans to sign the page and add their feeling to this page. It's to let Peter know his mother is not forgotten and she is missed by all his fans. KISS Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child
From: Dreamcast via Chris & Sandra
This First-Person Shooter wants to rock all night and party every day! Games featuring celebrities have always been a bit of mixed bag when it comes to what to expect. While there have been some good ones to come out of the bunch, (Wing Commander III and Apocalypse) for the most part the majority of them have stunk (Revolution X, Daedalus Encounter, and *ugh* Shaq-Fu). This time around, the stars of the moment happen to be those face-painted rock lords KISS, and they're bringing all the visual wickedness illustration god Todd McFarlane can provide. Ah ha, interested you say? Read on. Using themes from both the latest album and the funny book series, KISS Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child has quite the intriguing, if not original plot; The Nightmare Child is an abomination of evil and perversion, and of course it's birth is the source of a cosmic disturbance. Through it's unborn, wicked ways it has created an army of mutated monsters that are tearing through innocents like there's no tomorrow (most likely because there probably won't be if they keep this madness up). You assume the role of an average Joe, who by some simple twist of fate, has been drawn into this battle to save the universe and the fabric of our reality. The only way to do so is to assimilate the powers of the Elder, an all-powerful super being who is split into four alter egos; The Beast King, The Celestial, The Demon, and The Star Bearer. Each of whom have their own special abilities and advantages, and each who can be drawn within yourself to battle the oncoming legion of hate and stop the birth of The Nightmare Child.

    KISS Just Says No!
    From: AngelOfAce@aol.com
KISS have teamed up with the Partnership for a Drug Free America. In new advertisements, the Partnership for a Drug Free America compares the $110 billion which drug use costs the United States with how much it would cost for KISS to play free in every major city in America. Guess what? It would cost $110 billion. Paul Stanley says, "When you start fooling around with drugs, you're hurting your creativity, you're hurting your health. Drugs are death, in one form or another. If they don't kill you, they kill your soul. And if your soul's dead, you've got nothing to offer, anyway."

"Tale of the Fox" TV & Media Exposure
    From: Thoughtscape Sounds
Tale of the Fox Video The "TALE OF THE FOX" Eric Carr video biography was nicely featured in a news piece on Channel 4 WFTX FOX News Florida in which Entertainment Reporter Shawn Boyd, who himself is a long time Eric Carr and KISS fan, explored the making of the video. "TALE OF THE FOX" has received a lot of media exposure over the past few weeks, including a mention in Metal Edge magazine, which plans to follow up with a special full length story! Bruce Kulick Interviewed By Metal Sludge
    From: KISS ASYLUM
Bruce Kulick recently did a 20 Questions written interview with the infamous Metal Sludge website. For those who aren't familiar with the Metal Sludge interviews, the questions asked tend to be a bit tongue-in-cheek. Bruce was a great sport with his answers to some rather "unique" questions, so click over to Metal Sludge to read the interview.

From: Toronto Sun via Peter Burns
Paul Stanley will be appearing on this Thursday's (the 23rd) MuchMusic Video Awards as a presenter. This was reported in the Tuesday, September 21 Toronto Sun by columnist Claire Bickley. In a sidenote, there was a Gene Simmons quote in Liz Braun's column in which Gene was asked what he likes best in a woman. Gene said, "People often ask me what I look for in women. I look for me in women!"

    From: UNION Asylum

Bruce Kulick informed UnionAsylum.com that report is "false" and asked that we post this correction to clarify any confusion that may exist as a result of the incorrect information.

Fan Feedback - "KISS & Outside Projects"
    From: KISS ASYLUM
Ever since the end of the Psycho Circus tour earlier this year members of KISS have begun to pursue other individual outside projects. Gene has taken an interest in movies, Paul is continuing his role as "Phantom of the Opera" and Ace Frehley, according to Metal Edge Online, has been working on a solo album and is fielding label interest. Even when KISS performs as a unit they seem to be doing more projects outside the straight rock relm, such as their recent ties with professional wrestling's WCW. In our last poll we asked the online fans if it was a good idea for KISS to be involved with WCW, and the majority voted a resounding "No!" The poll break down is as follows: No 72.5% (914 Votes); Yes 19.2% (243 Votes); Not sure 8.1% (103 Votes)

This week we look at KISS and their outside projects and ask the online fans "Is doing outside projects a good thing for KISS?" Some may say that doing these outside projects gives each member some breathing room and a chance to pursure other interests further strengthing their creative juices. Others may think that these outside projects are detrimental to the band and risk tearing them appart. KISS ASYLUM wants to know what YOU think! Click over to www.kissasylum.com/poll2/ to cast your vote and make your opinion heard. Also, don't forget to post up your comments about "KISS' outside projects and their effect on the band" at KISS ASYLUM's KISS Army Online bulletin board at www.kissasylum.com/bbs/

"Somebody's Waiting" Eric Carr Song Review
    From: Byron Fogle
I had a very nice treat the other day. I was privileged to hear 'Somebody's Waiting" from the upcoming release Rockology from Eric Carr thanks to the producers of the CD. People I gotta tell you I was blown away by it. The chord changes are classic KISS sound, it's heavy in the vein of "I Still Love You," and the chorus "Somebody's waiting for you" makes me sad to think as if God was singing that to say he was waiting for Eric. But it's really about finding love and somebody being out there waiting for you to find them and fall in love. The lyrics are so emotionally charged, with the lethal combination of Eric's vocal delivery and easily the best drumming Eric has ever done with any band on any record. It makes you wonder why this didn't appear on "Hot In the Shade" & why Gene & Paul held Eric back and never used any of his songs except "Little Caesar." I can't wait to hear the rest of the CD. I thought the "Rockheads" was a treat, well it turns out that was just an appetizer, this disc of unreleased material will be the main course and the video "Tale Of The Fox" will be dessert. Thanks to Bruce Kulick, Adam Mitchell, Eric's family, ThoughtScape and Jack Sawyers we the fans of Eric have been treated to a great Fox dinner from Little Caesar's (I had to throw in a little pun)! =)

    "WWH" KAOL Soundtrack Samples
    From: Kathy Labonte
CHAPTER 6 - I WANT YOU"You can run, you can hide, but you'll never get away"
Chapter 6 finds the band uneasily discovering their newfound powers after a show. Recently being given the Talismans in a previous chapter, the band begins to draw upon their strange and unknown effects backstage in the dressing room and on into the night. Not sure what they are or if they even want them, they begin to see that they don't have much of a choice in the matter. Hear the 60 second clip of "I WANT YOU" in either MP3 or .wav format at: www.musicareonline.org Familiar musicians to KAOL, this chapter is performed by the KRK project. The musical trio was put together specifically to perform for the Soundtrack and consists of 2 members from the KAOL band LITHIUM who can be found on both the Music From The Folder '99 and Creatures of The Net discs. If you like the song samples you are hearing and are interested in Dale Sherman's novel, get your name on the list now to reserve your copy. It Took A Natural Disaster.....
    From: KISS ASYLUM
Well everyone, after 4 years of "KISS News Around The Clock" it finally took a natural disaster to keep KISS ASYLUM from updating! LOL!! KISS ASYLUM is based in Savannah, Georgia, which was projected to be in the path of Hurricane Floyd. Between mass evacuation and then a period without power we were unable to update the page for about 2 and 1/2 days, but we're back full strength now. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those further up the East Coast who ended up feeling the effects of Floyd worse than we did here in Georgia.

KISS' October 29th Las Vegas Appearance News
    From: Metal Edge Online
The Metal Wire has reported that KISS' Oct. 29 Las Vegas appearance will not be a full concert but will be part of a holiday parade, and the band will perform just four songs. The Detroit Rock City movie, a box office failure that has to date only made slightly over $4 million, will likely do better when it's released on DVD and VHS on December 21.

KISS & WCW - Your Thoughts
    From: KISS ASYLUM
"Detroit Rock City" has come and gone in many theaters across the country. While it appeared most KISS fans loved the movie (results from a previous poll), it seems like the general public did not. Our last poll seemed to bare this out. In our last poll we asked the online fans why they thought the movie did so poorly at the box office. From the over 2000 votes tallied it appears your opinion favored the reason as being that the general public just did not care for the movie, only KISS fans went to see it. The breakdown is as follows: Only KISS fans went versus the non-KISS fan/general public 39.5% (850 Votes); Not enough promotion (ie, actors were not guests on talk shows) 22.7% (490 Votes); Movie was just not that good 13.6% (294 Votes); Anti-KISS sentiment 9.9% (213 Votes); Movie came out at the wrong time 7.6% (165 Votes); Poor reviews from critics 6.4% (139 Votes)

It seems as of late KISS has been very involved with professional wrestling's WCW. They appeared and played on WCW Nitro a few weeks back, and even have a KISS wrestler, "The Demon." Now there is talk of a possible KISS/WCW New Year's Eve pay-per-view event. This week KISS ASYLUM asks the online fans "Is it a good idea for KISS to be involved with professional wrestling's WCW"? Click over to www.kissasylum.com/poll2/ to cast your vote and make your opinion heard. Also, don't forget to post up your comments about KISS' involvement with WCW at KISS ASYLUM's KISS Army Online bulletin board at www.kissasylum.com/bbs/

Several more cost cutting moves are expected over the next few weeks, including more roster cuts. Goldmines Guide To KISS Collectibles
    From: Tim McGuire
The inaugural issue of Ebay magazine has hit the shelves. The Celebcollecting column on pages 96 and 97 features KISS. Pictured are collectibles as diverse as earplugs and stage used paraphernalia. There is even mention made of "Custom Bally slot machines made for each member and their manager in 1977". Does anyone have any idea what that is all about? Perhaps the most interesting nugget from the article is the revelation that the book "Goldmines Guide To KISS Collectibles" is due on shelves in February 2000. The book, authored by Tom Shannon is being published under the Goldmine banner. Most collectors are familiar with the record collecting magazine Goldmine, which recently celebrated its 500th monthly issue. With such a strong sponsor involved, we should be able to anticipate a detailed, high quality book this winter. Word has it that the book will have an 8.5'x 11' format with nearly 9,000 price values, and 500 full color photographs.

    From: Studio Chikara
Studio Chikara--known for its high-quality licensed publications and collectibles including GodzillaTM, Casper the Friendly GhostTM and Zen Intergalactic NinjaTM, will release a limited-edition trading card set based on the life of late drummer, Eric Carr. "Eric Carr is the member of KISS that has not received the recognition he deserves," says publisher Robert V. Conte. "It is time that Eric's complete story was told so fans can appreciate the significant contributions he made to the band and to music in general. " Carr--whose real name was Paul Caravello--answered KISS' advertisement seeking a replacement for drummer Peter "Catman" Criss. After joining KISS in mid 1980, Caravello's stage name was created along with his makeup persona known as the Fox. From late 1983 until Eric's death in 1991, KISS toured the world and recorded albums without their infamous kabuki makeup. To promote the upcoming release of the 72-card Eric Carr Commemorative Trading Card Set, Studio Chikara is releasing ten promotional trading cards in September. Five will be distributed in specially marked copies of Thoughtscape's Tale of the Fox home video released in September 1999. In addition to rocking through their classic song "God of Thunder," the band were on hand for the debut of the Demon, who is the wrestling incarnation of Gene Simmons. The Demon is the first in a line of wrestlers known as the "Warriors of KISS," who will sport the necessary face paint to emulate the members of Kiss. Cleveland KISS Expo Report: Cleveland Rocks!
From: Lisa Jackson, KISS ASYLUM Correspondant from the Detroit News
Detroit may be the birthplace of KISSmania, but this city by the lake comes in a close second. And judging by the turnout at the Cleveland KISS Expo on Sunday, August, 29, fan support is still strong in Northeast Ohio. Dealers and fans from across the east coast turned up in droves at Roller World in Parma, Ohio, (a Cleveland suburb) to see memorabilia, tribute band Creatures of the Night, and former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick. Also on hand was KISS security director Andre Augustine, who flew in to sign copies of his new book "Guardian of the Gods." Indeed the lines were long to meet Augustine, a former New York Jet who has turned into rock's top security expert. He shook hands, signed autographs and posed for photographs for seven straight hours. Augustine's only regret was that he eventually ran out of books at the Expo because the demand was so strong. He said he enjoys meeting fans. "KISS fans are usually surprised when they meet me when I'm not working. I'm a nice guy, but when I'm on the job I've got to watch out for the entertainers who I work for." "Cleveland's always a great place to visit, and the promoter Steve Campbell did a great job here." "I hope he picks up more of these conventions because he is very professional," Augustine said. Augustine will be appearing at the Chicago KISS Expo on October 3.

Bruce Kulick Attends 1999 Cleveland KISS Expo
    From: UNIONJAN@aol.com
UNION guitarist, Bruce Kulick, was the special guest at the 1999 Cleveland KISS Expo on Sunday, August 29th. Bruce fielded questions from KISS fans during a 45- minute Q & A session, then later met with fans, posed for photos, and signed autographs. When asked to mention some of his current career activities, Bruce replied, "It's a very busy time in my life... it's been exciting!". He spoke about the new UNION album being finished and confirmed its January/February release. "(Producer) Bob Marlette is a very talented guy. He really kicked our ass!,"said Bruce. "As for myself, my guitar work is very REVENGE/UNHOLY-like... so if you like that kind of era of my guitar playing, you'll hear a lot of that style on there. It's very varied. And there's a song that I sing... finally I sing a song on a UNION album that's not just a bonus track... for Eric Carr called DEAR FRIEND. It's a really cool tune." Bruce admitted he was very excited about the new album, but explained that it was still too soon to really talk about it in length.
