Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
From: City Scoops Magazine
Posted: March 31, 2009
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame purports to acknowledge those who've changed the face of the genre. But have bias, cronyism and group-think muddled their mission?
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex, which opened on December 2, features an exhibit about New York's place in rock and roll history, no doubt designed to remind New Yorkers how much their hometown contributed to this essential musical genre, and also to conjure joyous memories of our collective rock and roll past.
While the exhibit opens with an anomaly - memorabilia from Bruce Springsteen, an artist as closely associated with New York as Bon Jovi, the Meadowlands, and Newark - inside, you can see where the curators' nostalgia lies. The front entrance to CBGB's is recreated as a shrine, featuring the veritable punk institution's awning, phone booth, sound board, tables, chairs, and even walls, all of which will no doubt bring a tear to the eye of anyone who was a regular at the club from 1974-1979, but probably not much after.

They recorded it around 5 years ago with Sebastian Bach & Richie Scarlet. You can get the full song & the ringtone to it on iTunes..... The link below will get you there............. KISS Update: Gene Checks In
From: KISSonline.com
Posted: March 28, 2009
Today, went through the entire set we intend on playing in the forthcoming SOUTH AMERICAN swing of our KISS Alive 35 World Tour. If you've seen some of the media coming out of S. America, you'll notice we're mostly playing soccer stadiums...and we're told the tix are almost all gone.
Today was a special day -- we all lined up to get Yellow Fever shots. Great. No one was anxious to get stung by a needle, but if that's what it takes for us to get together with 50,000 close friends we'll role up our sleeves.
We've also been recording our first New Studio Album in 11 years!!!. Produced by Paul Stanley. And, having Paul simply decide things, works better. Democracy is highly overrated. Paul is kickin' ass. The material sounds great and Tommy and Eric are in great form.
We have 4 tunes recorded. If you're a fan of our stuff from about 1977, you'll feel right at home. All of us have taken up the songwriting call to arms in the same spirit we once did -- without a care in the world and without outside writers. Nothing to prove to anyone. Just doing what comes naturally. Ignoring fashions, trends and with a personal vow from all of us: no rapping. There are plenty of people out there doing this and they don't need four palefaced guys pretending they're from the hood. Besides, I'm not sure how to correctly pronounce "wassup."
Tommy is finishing his solo tune. Sounds great, I can tell you. And Eric is going to sing on the album.
Most importantly, we are having the time of our lives, and can't wait to see our friends South of the Border.
We hop on our jet April 1st, on the way to gig #1-Santiago.
See you all there...Or maybe later!

'Gene Simmons In Dr. Peper Ad
From: PR-Newswire/FirstCall
Posted: March 24, 2009
Gene Simmons, aka 'Dr. Love,' to Star as the Latest Dr in the 'Trust Me, I'm a Dr' Ad Campaign for Dr Pepper Cherry
Dr Pepper just got a whole lot smoother with the introduction of the new flavor Dr Pepper Cherry. The exciting new blend combines the great taste of Dr Pepper with the perfect amount of cherry flavor. It's so amazingly smooth; you have to try it to believe it.
"We're excited to offer consumers a smooth new way to enjoy Dr Pepper with the availability of Dr Pepper Cherry," said Allison Methvin, director of marketing for Dr Pepper. "It's a whole new reason to try Dr Pepper."
Dr Pepper has searched the Rock Legends to find its latest pop culture doc, KISS front man Gene Simmons, to introduce new Dr Pepper Cherry. Simmons, who founded the legendary rock band KISS more than 35 years ago, will star in a new commercial, letting fans know that Dr Pepper Cherry has just a KISS of cherry flavor, making it amazingly smooth. Simmons' "Dr. Love" will be the third Dr in the "Trust Me, I'm a Dr" advertising campaign, joining the ranks of basketball legend Dr. J (Julius Erving) and Dr. Frasier Crane (award-winning actor Kelsey Grammer). The TV spot will feature Simmons in full KISS "Demon" regalia. Nick Simmons, Gene's son, will also star in the commercial.
PHIL NARO: "Peter was a bit of a Taskmaster"
From: RockPages.gr
Posted: March 24, 2009
We continue our KISS special feature with the 24th interview of a KISS-related figure. This week, Phil Naro, the first singer of CRISS remembers his years behind the microphone with Peter's band but also with the late Mark St.John. Here's an excerpt:
Rockpages.gr: What do you remember from Peter?
Phil Naro: Peter is a bit of a Taskmaster, but he is also a very good person. Anybody fortunate enough to work with him can only benefit from his years of experience in the industry.
Rockpages.gr: How about the late Mark St. John?
Phil Naro: Mark was a real sweat guy who unfortunately had a very difficult time controlling his own personal demons. I've always felt sorry for him and I was saddened by his passing. If there's a Rock N Roll Heaven, he must be playing in one real awesome band!

Paul Stanley Finds New Way To Express Himself: Painting
From: Associated Press
Posted: March 17, 2009
When it comes to glam rock stars, Paul Stanley always could wield that makeup brush with the best of them.
So maybe it shouldn't have come as a surprise that the Kiss guitarist, first introduced to the world with his face covered in white makeup, his lips painted bright red, a dark star over his right eye, would someday set aside that guitar long enough to pour his soul into oil on canvas.
Still, Stanley says he was the most surprised guy on the planet when he, an art-class washout from New York City's High School of Music and Art, suddenly began to make the transition from guitar god to serious painter eight years ago.
"I managed to fail art. Which is, you know, astonishing," he says with a sly smile as he sits in an oversized easy chair in his home studio. "Nobody fails art at that school."
Recap: 2009 Indy Fan Expo
From: KISSonline.com
Posted: March 17, 2009
Music is a big part of people's lives, and while some are content to throw a CD into a player or hit their favorite playlist on their iPod, fans of the band KISS have a different kind of escape - the KISS Convention. On March 15th several hundred KISS fans filled the Holiday Inn Indianapolis East for the 2009 Indy KISS Expo.
Fans of all ages came to pick up the latest tour gear, grab a t-shirt or ten, find that elusive LP or CD, listen to a KISS tribute band (Mr. Speed was the choice at this event), and mix and mingle with other KISS fans. The band is currently in the studio recording brand new tracks for the first time since their 1998 release Psycho Circus. There was an energy level at this show that showed the band is still going strong 35 years after their first album hit stores. Perhaps it is the excitement about a new record or the fact that the band is soon to embark upon one of their explosive tours. Whatever the case, fans came out of the woodwork for this particular event.
The fans were treated to a lot of activities that were new to the KISS Convention scene. First, former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick was there to sign autographs and chat with fans. Usually Bruce would hang out, sign autographs and take some questions, but Bruce had a different agenda this time around. He brought a gallery of photos and videos from a European tour he just returned from with current KISS drummer Eric Singer and the rest of their side project - the band known as the Eric Singer Project or for short, ESP. They played several gigs and traveled all over, and Bruce showed different sites and architecture from all of the places they visited. We also got to see some behind-the-scenes, candid shots of the band just having fun.
After Bruce's presentation, KISSonline's Keith Leroux brought out some never-before-seen video footage from his personal collection to give fans a treat they will remember for a long time to come. For a non-KISS fan, it's hard to understand -- these guys have a special relationship with their fans. Many follow them around the entire planet. I've traveled many times to the oddest places just to see them perform or make a personal appearance over the past 30+ years, but my travels pale in comparison to others that will drop whatever it is they are doing and hit the road. When you make the journey with friends, between the concert experiences, and the craziness of getting from one place to another in time for the next show can be mind boggling, but in the end, it becomes an adventure you'll never forget. You'll have stories to tell your grandchildren about!

Gene Simmons vs. Bob Lefsetz "Cage Match Debate"
From: PluggedIn.com (video from CityNews.ca)
Posted: March 14, 2009
KISS bassist and creator of the universe, Gene Simmons, was one of the keynote speakers earlier today at Canadian Music Week in Toronto.
Here's an excerpt of what the notoriously cantakerous industry expert (and windbag) Bob Lefsetz had to say about the speech: "He's not a dumb dude. But it's a full time commercial. And why? Doesn't he have enough money? Isn't this like an ex-President buying time on television to give us his opinion on the budget? Running for an office he can't be elected to? Hey Gene, you were a star once, can you let it go? Can you stop trying to convince us that not only is your music great, but that KISS is the biggest act in the world?"
Here's an excerpt from Simmons's response to Lefsetz: "THIS IS A SMALL PERSON, WHO'S NEVER DONE ANYTHING, NEVER BEEN IN A BAND AND DOESN'T KNOW HOW THE RECORD INDUSTRY WORKS. HE DOESN'T KNOW ME AND I DON'T KNOW HIM. AND HE WOULDN'T KNOW, IN EITHER CASE IF I "DO" OR "DON'T" PART WITH MY MONEY. AND IN ANY CASE, IT WOULDN'T BE HIS BUSINESS, OR MY GARBAGE COLLECTOR'S."
Music industry pundit Bob Lefsetz and Gene Simmons squared off at Canadian Music Week yesterday (March 13th) in the main ballroom at the Royal York Hotel in downtown Toronto.

KISS Hits Studio
From: RollingStone.com
Posted: March 13, 2009
The first studio album from Kiss in more than a decade will include songs "about the obvious things," says bassist-singer Gene Simmons, citing titles such as "Rotten To The Core." "No secret to life, no political messaging, nothing like that," he says of the lyrics.
As previously reported, Simmons confirms Kiss' first album since 1998's Psycho Circus will be produced by singer-guitarist Paul Stanley. "I don't have enough time to tie my shoelaces and there's nobody else I trust more than Paul," says Simmons, who's currently in Toronto to find three Canadian acts to sign to his recently resurrected Simmons Records, for which he has partnered with Universal Music Canada and businesswoman/former politician Belinda Stronach.
While he juggles all his other projects and pursuits, the band is also in the studio. The songs are all written, Simmons says. "There's nothing to prove to anybody. We're not interested in musical trends or anything else. We're too long in the tooth for that. So it's going to be sort of a classic '70s rock & roll vibe. Meat and potatoes. You know, sometimes you just want to go out and have a meat and potatoes thing [and] forget the French dressing."
Kiss - Simmons, Stanley, guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer - will also continue touring for its 35th (now 37th) anniversary, beginning in South America in Santiago, Chile. Last year, the Kiss Alive/35 World Tour hit Europe, U.K., Australia, New Zealand and a few U.S. cities.

A Message From Bruce Kulick
From: Kulick.net
Posted: March 11, 2009
Hello everyone! It has been over a week since I have been back from my amazing journey with ESP in Europe. We went to 7 countries, played 13 very excellent shows, and accomplished what we set out to. Play for our fans, and simply have a great time with them. We started in Germany and at the first show was also a KISS expo in the afternoon. Eric and I had a chance to greet the fans that attended and answer some questions and sign for the crowd. Later on after a sound check for the Expo fans, it was time to get ready for our first show. It was great considering we were all exhausted from the big trip overseas. It felt great to see how our set list would go over. We did some of our usual, but added some interesting new cover tunes the crowd loved.
German food, cars and their technology are always awesome, so I am always fascinated when I am there. Keep me away from the pretzels! They are amazing and everywhere! I mean the soft king btw! After three shows in a row in Germany, we drove to Holland. I got to hang out with my friend from Amsterdam, Sidney who always is hilarious to hang with, so that was fun walking around the city of Uden. Got to visit a music store and you all know how I feel about looking at guitars! The next day we flew to Prague, a city I have never visited before. The Czech Republic was very fascinating to me. I took tons of pix as everything there was "different" and I really enjoyed the culture. From McDonald's to the mall near our hotel, it was so cool to visit a country that has such and interesting history. The crowd was insane for us at the sold out show. The people who ran the hotel, were amazing and offered us wine in the lobby after out successful gig. Party time! So I hope to come back to CZ!

Posted: March 10, 2009
Some sites are reporting the Universal will be releasing an "Authorized Bootleg" from Kiss on May 26, noting a show at Nashville's Municipal Auditorium from 1998. While Universal is apparently planning hard-rock/metal releases as part of their "Authorized Bootleg" series (Cinderlla being another act with a live archive set due), the details for any Kiss release are not fully known. What is known is that Kiss didn't perform at Nashville's Municipal Auditorium in 1998. The did play the Nashville Arena on Jan. 2, 1999, the final date of the US "Psycho Circus" tour. The last time they played that venue was on November 6, 1992. Eddie Kramer attended he show in preparation for the "Alive III" recordings later that month, taking notes about the set, and it was likely recorded for reference. The set included:
- Creatures Of The Night
- Deuce
- I Just Wanna
- Unholy
- Heaven's On Fire
- Parasite
- Domino
- Watchin' You
- Hotter Than Hell
- Firehouse
- I Want You
- Forever
- War Machine
- Rock And Roll All Nite
- Lick It Up
- I Love It Loud
- Take It Off
- Cold Gin
- Detroit Rock City
- Shout It Out Loud
- God Gave Rock And Roll To You II
- Love Gun
- Star Spangled Banner
However, according to the ever-useful "Kiss Alive Forever," the band also performed there in 1975 (Alive), 76 (Destroyer), 79, 83 (Creatures), 84 (Lick It Up), 85 (Animalize and Asluym tours), and 1988 (Crazy Nights), so any of those shows would make useful additions as official releases. It should be noted that the 1/11/84 show was definately recorded since it was broadcast on King Biscuit Flower Hour at the time in edited form. That show can be heard online at Wolfgang's Vault, but included:

Eric Singer and Bruce Kulick Interview About Guitars, Drums And Equipment
From: Fury Magazine
Posted: March 8, 2009
ESP is in the Netherlands. Not exactly something to get you off the edge of your seat, as most people won't know who ESP are. Once you start explaining that the full name is Eric Singer Project and the guy is the current drummer of Kiss, you see eyebrows being raised and their fans start coming out of every nook and cranny of the universe. If you then have a look at the line up, your mouth really starts watering, because with guys like Bruce Kulick (guitar - Grand Funk Railroad, ex Kiss), John Corabi (vocals and guitar - ex Mötley Crüe) and Chuck Garric (bass - Alice Cooper) you can really call this an all star line up. We of Furyrocks.com get the chance to talk to Bruce as well as Eric. Naturally we have more questions than time and this becomes a short conversation with the emphasis on equipment. Nevertheless we manage to get so much information out of the two gentlemen that we decided to split the interview into two parts.
First off I am joined by Bruce Kulick in the cosy lobby of hotel Arrows in Uden. He gladly fills in our Artist Profile and in the meantime we start our conversation with him. Halfway this part the present Henk de Graaf asks some questions as well, and as he is a guitar player himself, it did lead to specific questions and answers.
How's everything going so far?
Quite well actually the crowds are great, the venues packed. I wouldn't dare say they are all sold out, but we are getting close.
How do you know which equipment to use on stage?

We continue our KISS special feature with the 23rd interview of a KISS-related figure. This week, Art Munson, session guitarist on Peter's 1978 solo album comments on 3-4 questions regarding that work. Here's an excerpt:
Rockpages.gr: Did you have the chance to meet Peter?
Art Munson: Yes, we did meet! He was just getting to playing after his car accident. I seem to remember him struggling a bit with playing.

The Classic Rock Opinion: The New Kiss Album
From: Classic Rock Magazine
Posted: March 5, 2009
With the band about to head into the studio to record their first album since 1998's Psycho Circus, Geoff Barton speculates the pro's and con's of what we can expect from the brand new Kiss album.
At their Download festival press conference last summer, Kiss - well, bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons, to be precise - poured cold water (cold gin, more like) on the prospect of Kiss ever recording a brand new album.
"The record industry is dead," Simmons snarled. "It's six feet underground and unfortunately the fans have done this."
Paul Stanley Talks About Children And Touring
From: The Star
Posted: March 4, 2009
In January, KISS frontman Paul Stanley welcomed a new addition to his family of four: a baby girl named Sarah Brianna. Star caught up with the rock legend to talk about his new little lady as well as his upcoming reunion tour.
Star: How did you and your wife Erin come up with the name Sarah Brianna?
Sarah is a solid biblical name. It means princess in Hebrew and Brianna means noble. And besides, all of our favorite fruit names were picked!
Star: You already have two boys. (Colin, 2, is his son with Erin; Evan, 14, is from a previous relationship.) Will you be taking a different approach to parenting a girl?
How Paul Stanley Puts The Artist In Rock-Artist
From: InTouch Weekly
Posted: March 4, 2009
For more than 30 years, Paul Stanley has been an integral part of the success of one the most historic rock bands ever - KISS. Creating and performing hits for decades, Paul is now gearing up to produce KISS' newest album, and in four weeks will perform in stadiums in South America. The big news is that it is likely that they'll take the KISS show on the road to Canada in July and will be doing a huge U.S. tour in the fall.
But while Paul is a legendary music artist, he is also a "self-taught" painter as he creates abstract expressions and portraits in vibrant colors. As he told In Touch in an exclusive interview at the Wentworth Gallery at The Shops at Riverside in Hackensack, N.J., "When it comes to art, people either love what they're looking at or they don't. I was self-conscious about showing my art at first - when I hung my first piece up I didn't even sign it, but everyone who saw it on my wall asked about it."
He adds, "Painting and performing are total opposites: Painting is very personal, intimate and solitary, and performing is very gregarious. It has been an interesting process to show my art because I like to open a door for people to realize how much art has to offer - to both serious collectors and fans of KISS' music."

Superstar And Rockstar Deliver Song To Paul
From: Superstar and Rockstar
Posted: March 2, 2009
Live to win, we intend too!
Ok, so Paul Stanley may choose to not work with us on our song that we personally delivered to him at Saturday's showing at the Wentworth Gallery. After all, there are a number of factors that could play into his decision. Scheduling or even his dislike of the song are relevant reasons to choose to not work with us at this time. Nevertheless, that didn't stop us from handing over the track that we believe would be a good fit for him. With Bob Kulick as Producer and his brother Bruce in tow on lead guitar, it's pretty much primed and ready for Paul's participation. If that wasn't enough, we were able to get the actual guitar that was used on his 1978 solo album, as well as on side 4 on the Kiss Alive 2 album.
It's ready; we are ready; and we are waiting. The greatest satisfaction that will come out of all this, however, is not if he says, "Yes", it's the fact that we went for it, and we owe Paul Stanley and the Kiss Army a warm thank you for the encouragement. Paul always takes the time to talk to us and we can tell he genuinely wants us to succeed. In fact, I think he finds us amusing. Moreover, as far as the Kiss Army is concerned, thank you for the encouraging emails we receive on an almost daily basis. Keep them coming and we will keep you posted!

Paul Stanley Musician And Artist
From: 7Online.com
Posted: March 1, 2009
As he celebrates his 35th anniversary as the lead singer of KISS, Paul Stanley is making another name for himself as a painter and artist. More recently, he celebrated more than $3-million in sales of his paintings in 2008. Paul Stanley joined us this morning with details of his art show in New Jersey.
The Beatles had Paul McCartney. Led Zeppelin had Robert Plant. KISS have Paul Stanley.
For more than thirty years, Paul Stanley has reigned supreme as one of the single-most recognizable frontmen in the history of rock and roll. He's the principal songwriter, driving force and the unwavering voice of KISS, one of the most successful and influential bands ever born on American soil. Employing equal parts hip-grinding rhythm, full-tilt glam and guitar-driven slam, Stanley single-handedly penned such escapist anthems as "Love Gun," "God of Thunder" and "Black Diamond." He was the golden throat that throttled "Detroit Rock City," the charismatic swagger behind "I Was Made For Lovin' You," and stripped of makeup, was the unmasked troubadour that breathed vocal life into the ballads "Reason to Live," "Forever" and "Every Time I Look At You."

KISS Chile Show Press Release
From: Gabe Reed
Posted: March 1, 2009
KISS will close the Pepsi Festival at the Arena Movistar in Santiago, Chile on April 3, 2009 and perform for the first time in Chile in over a decade! The show will open the KISS tour of South America which will also include Stadium shows in Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela and Peru.
KISS invented stadium rock in the 70’s with their sci-fi Kabuki costumes and make-up, explosive theatrics and, of course, their trademark platform boots.. In their extensive world tours, they’ve attracted the most rabid fans: The KISS Army. The KISS legacy continues to grow, generation after generation, transcending age, race and creed. The unparalleled devotion and loyalty of the KISS Army to the "Hottest Band in the World" is a striking testament to the band’s unbreakable bond with its fans.
Now celebrating thirty-five years of rockin’ the globe, KISS founders GENE SIMMONS and PAUL STANLEY along with longtime band members guitarist TOMMY THAYER and drummer ERIC SINGER vow to bring the KISS Army in Argentina the time honored KISS spectacular that has made their performances legendary. Along with the screaming guitars, lights and pyrotechnics that have made KISS "The Greatest Rock n Roll Show On Earth", the band brings their vast repertoire of classic music. Having sold 85 million records worldwide, KISS has become the soundtrack for a generation. In honor of their 35th anniversary, the band plans to play their KISS ALIVE album in it’s entirety as well as a few surprises and rarely played live KISS classic gems.

Vintage KISS Bracelet And Stick Pin From 1977
From: KISSmuseum.com

The official KISS Aucoin Bracelets and Stick Pins from 1977. Originally sold through ads in Rock magazines as well as small store displays, these small trinkets were quickly snatched up by us younger fans, (of the time), who didn't quite have enough money for the KISS toy Record Players, Guitars and Action Figures that had flooded the market that year. Still, these pieces are of high-quality metal construction with real gold plating and red enamel finishing highlights; quite desirable collectibles.
A small amount of still-sealed near-mint condition of both items have recently been uncovered and are for sale to the first people who can grab them. Click link below for pricing and more info:
