More KISS 13" Action Figures News

I would like to add that, I talked with Chet Jaques (Manager of the McFarlane Toy Collectors Club)at The Wizard World Con. He stated that they did indeed plan to make these figures based on the costumes for the upcoming tour. Todd himself is helping or has helped in the design of these new costumes. The figures, which I was told won't come out until next year will replicate what we see on stage this tour and will include plastic replicas of all instruments. Even a drum set. He also mentioned that the costumes WOULD RESEMBLE THE COMIC CHARACTERS. Chet didn't mention if a stage-play set was in the works, but anything is possible. The reason the figures won't be out until next year is KISS is a once a year thing for McFarlane. Chet also said that these figure would be series 3 KISS figures and COULD be the same size as the current figures.

Speaking of Kiss make-up, the band are gearing up to debut a futuristic take on their classic, '70s costumes. There's a load of brand new Kiss action figures, which coincide with their upcoming Psycho Circus album and comic book. Paul, Gene, Ace and Peter have gone for a look that can only be described as cyber-medeival. Although all four appear more lean and mean, it's drummer Peter Criss, "The Cat," whose change is the most drastic. The new Criss figure is a cross between the Incredible Hulk, a cranky panther and a member of GWAR. Go to www.spawn.com for details. You've been warned.

KISS Psycho Circus Figures At Spencers

Just walked into my local Spencer's Gifts in Independence, Mo. and saw a huge display of the KISS Psycho Circus figures. They said they just got them in and I was the first to buy any. They sold for $19.99 each, so being strapped for cash, I bought just Paul and Ace. Very, very cool! The pacakging is about the same as the first edition figures, but a little better. Each figure has his name (ie. Celestial, Starbearer, etc.) on the box, plus a brief description of the character. Ace's box reads - "The Celstial - Represents the principles of the universal balance, the ultimate harmony of the cosmos." Paul's reads - "The Starbearer - He who draws from the deep wells of the soul and emotion. Bringer of the passion and pain." Some random thoughts - Paul's arm- and knee pads look cooler than I thought, but his hair is too straight. Ace's hair is cut very short on top, but his costume looks great. One thing, while most of you will be thinking about buying these figures for just the band members, you'll be surprised at just how great the other figures look! Stiltman is very well done and you can almost feel the slime dripping off the Jester and his twisted little dog! Now it's off to an ATM and back to pick up Gene and Peter!

Here is some NEWS on the new "Psycho Circus" figures due out this summer. I am a manager at Spencer Gifts and just recieved a video on summer merchandise for our store. There was a segment on the new Kiss figures. The first 12,000 will be exclusive to us and will be numbered and stickered with their number between 1 and 12,000. We will also be recieving the phone, and from what the distributor tells me we will get a ton of new stuff for the upcoming tour!

KISS Toys Launch Reunion Tour

Play all night and party every day. Some of the most popular toys of the last year are gearing up for their second tour - literally. A new series of McFarlane Toys' action figures based on the rock band KISS will hit shelves in the second quarter of 1998. And this time, the toys feature a concept near and dear to the McFarlane folk: their KISS: The Psycho Circus comic book.
"The first KISS toys were a massive success," said Terry Fitzgerald, Todd McFarlane Productions president of entertainment. "Sales were five times our initial projections. And the band loved them, too." In fact, the band loved them so much that the KISS: The Psycho Circus toy line turns over all design work directly to TMP. Action figure two-packs pair each band member - in new TMPdesigned costumes based on the traditional KISS glam rock costumes - with, as Fitzgerald puts it, "their comic book counterpart." In the Psycho Circus series, each KISS member has a double in a traveling circus. KISS bassist Gene Simmons, for example, is represented as a circus ringmaster. The Psycho Circus toys will couple a new KISS Gene with a ringmaster Gene, and so on with the rest of the band, pairing Paul Stanley, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley with their
Circus doubles. And it hardly stops there.
The toys also serve as a concert souvenir, as McFarlane's new costume designs will be worn by the real-life band members on their 1998 tour dubbed - you guessed it - "The Psycho Circus." "We were blown away when KISS and their management asked us to do design work that would actually be incorporated into the tour," Fitzgerald said. "It's amamzing in terms of prestige and it's great because the new toys will have the band's real as-seen-on-stage look. We're amazed that the 'Psycho Circus' concept that KISS came up with has become a comic, toy line and now their next tour."
