Is KISS Due For A Fan Backlash?
By: Kevin Brookshire

I've been reading your recent articles regarding KISS and their apparent distraction from what the "fans" really want from them and their shows. I would like to share two instances myself with the band that "cares".

Back during the "Revenge" club tours, I was very excited to have scored backstage passes and that I was finally going to meet "KISS"! Shortly before the end set, my friend and I made our way to backstage. My friend entered past security and much to my surprise, the guard stopped me and would not allow me to pass through the door. When I asked him, "Why?" He responded, "Can't allow you back there." Here I stood, my friend in the hall and me standing at the door with my backstage pass. Well, shortly they chased all out of the back area and didn't allow anyone access. After the set, we decided to wait outside the back entrance, hoping to catch them as they left. Again, they eluded us! We were informed by security that they had already left (yeah, right!). About 35 minutes later, Eric Singer came walking out to meet some friends (a very nice and gracious person), took some time to talk to us and made us feel appreciated. Gene and Paul, where were you??

Later, when the "KISS Convention" came to town the opportunity looked at last in our grasp. We were finally going to meet them up close, right? WRONG!! When Paul uttered, "Every person in this room will get to meet us and get something signed. After all, you're the fans and this is your night!" After they opened the floor and fans began to go up and meet them, they looked a little disturbed. Shortly, once again as I neared the "icons", suddenly security was whisking them away out the back door. I thought, "Not again!" In a blink of an eye, they were gone again with no reason, no statement, no courtesy to the fans that left the convention $100 less out of their pockets and a bad taste in their mouth when the word "KISS" is mentioned.

I have been a long time fan, not one from the bandwagon! But between those experiences and the lackluster and tired Reunion Tour, as well as recent events, maybe Gene and Paul have shown their true colors -- not black and white, but simply green!

Maybe when they introduce KISS as "The Hottest Band in the World!" they can modify it to say: "The Hottest Band in the World Who Will Do Anything For A Buck!"

Signed,
Dissed by KISS!
