The Truth
By: Matthew Bell
Instead of putting us through a half baked load of rubbish in DRC, why can't efforts be put in to making a tell all movie about the life and times of KISS..... the truth on film.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I have already lived the crazed fan from the age of four (like all of us have) that worshipped these gods and bought just about everything that was on offer. Now I am 26 in 1999, I want to see a movie made about the highs and lows... the behind the scenes stuff that WE ALL WANT TO SEE, but in a dramatised big screen sort of way. I want an independent collaboration from people who worked closely with KISS, people who were in the "inner sanctum" so to speak or people who could genuinely testify that they were there when times were bad, and of course when times were good.
Tell me the truth.... surely there are people who love Ace (as I do) but did read the "KISS and Tells" and treated them in which ever way they way wanted; that's your prerogative. The question is not whether you love/hate the guy for he did, but whether there was an aspect of truth to it all and made you want more information. You know, like Gene said in Extreme Close Up: "Once you climb that mountain, you want to climb the next. Once you have one girl, you want some more girls". KISS people, my appetite is whet and I want more - not just what THEY want us to hear too.
I may be preaching to the people who may have close connections to the band and think that I am trying to cross the line into "unobtainable information," but I think that there must be some merit in someone out there who would like to run with this idea.
I want to see Peter Criss (played by "insert name here") battling the despairs of a drug addiction. I want to see the tension and frustration of the final tour in make up, the lead up to Ace (played by "insert name here") leaving, the death (RIP) of Eric Carr (played by "insert name here"), the instigation of the Reunion Tour and all the to'ing and fro'ing that went on behind the scenes to make it all work, the sacking (is there really any other word) of Bruce and Eric to make way for Peter and Ace, the cover ups, scandals, the fits of rage, the celebrations, how they handled their fame. Yes we have read all about it, but don't we want to see it??
In all of what I have read on this page, there is a lot of negativity in the future of KISS and I do share some of the views. This may be something I have been thinking that is a little different but on the edge, and I would defy ANY KISS fan that would not go and see a movie of this stature if was to happen and if it was done in the right way.
But you know it probably will never happen, because I think there is too much to hide and Gene and Paul would have too much to lose by having something like that out -- Ace and Peter for that matter too.
As Phil Donohue said on the show when Peter was on: "I can hear the lawyers coming up the elevators right now."
