This is it - we're clearing out the rest of the KAOL CDs to make room for the new projects coming out. In anticipation of the upcoming Year 2000 KAOL activity, (see below) we're blowing out the remaining copies of "Music From The Folder '99". This is the disc that has the KAOL/Eric Carr Signature Guitar Pick inside. The enclosed pick is orange with white writing however, as an added bonus for this blowout special, all orders will receive an additional rare yellow w/black pick that were made as extras and never included inside the disc (limited supplies). To order, please visit the website at www.musicareonline.org "Music From the Folder '99" will NOT be repressed again. This is it. Once they sell out they are gone forever. The only other chance to get these covers from the KISS Army Online could be in a possible "Best Of" collection that may be released down the road for store distribution and include the top performances of the entire KAOL Trilogy series. It will not be pressed as a full lenth disc again.
Upcoming Releases: Soon to be available will be Dale Sherman's " A World Without Heroes" book with the KAOL Soundtrack disc in the back. Immediately after that release everyone should see the final KAOL disc of the Trilogy series appear as KAOL 3 "The Spirit of '78" hits the market in early 2000. Finally, in the spring of 2000 a re-release of the sold out "Creatures of The Net" will become available again. Before 2000 ends, the presentation of the KAOL/Eric Carr plaque will take place at the hospital in the pediatric cancer wing. It will hang there in the hallway for as long as the walls are up! If you haven't gotten a copy of MFTF yet because you've procrastinated, now is the time before they are gone.

Year 2000 - the year of the KISS Army Online! The year of K.A.O.L.
From: Kathy Labonte
We have 2 KAOL projects left before calling it a day. The 2 previous KAOL CDs have raised $4,000 for The Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in the name of the KISS Army and in memory of Eric Carr. At the $5,000 mark, a KAOL plaque (along with Eric's name) will be hung in the pediatric cancer wing. The KISS Army will raise that and a lot more with the final 2 projects coming up.
PROJECT 1
In October of this year, MusiCare Online will release the new book by author Dale Sherman, known for his KISS biographies Black Diamond 1 & 2. His newest work is a novel entitled, "A World Without Heroes" and is a captivating story of the KISS personalities and their infamous Talismans.
Inside of the book will be a full blown KAOL CD - a Soundtrack to the novel! All 25 chapters will be represented by a musical track. Bands from all over the world will appear in some great productions of KISS tunes. All 25 chapters will also be illustrated by well known artists.
This is a great book with some great music attached. Never before has a product like this been released in connection with a band and its fan club. Every single KISS fan out there will have a chance to be in the book as well: A month before the book goes to print, an announcement will be made for everyone to pre-order their copy. Those that do will have their names printed inside the book forever as a KISS Army OnLine member and CHoW supporter. Don't miss this opportunity to be a part of KISStory and KAOLstory. Watch for details that will be announced here.
Project 2 - The Final KAOL CD
As many of you may know, KAOL CDs are currently available in the form of "Music From the Folder '99" and "Creatures of the Net". This January, KAOL 3 - "The Spirit of '78" will be released, the final piece in this 3 part series.
This last disc is based entirely on the 1978 KISS solo albums. Paul, Peter, Ace, and Gene will be represented well by bands from Sweden, Japan, Italy, and all over the U.S. We may also have some of Eric Carr's music covered as well. Inside the disc will also be special surprise inserts as in past KAOL CDs.
The Year 2000 for KISS Fans to Make A Difference
1. KAOL 3's release in January will mark the end of the Trilogy - with all of our coverage in Metal Edge over the years and an ever growing database of fans, we expect this CD to do well for the Children's Hospital fund.
2. The "World Without Heroes" book being released this fall will continue to sell all thru the year 2000 and may possibly go into print in other countries in different languages! The KISS Armies of France and Spain have both expressed interest in releasing a foreign language version of this project.
3. A repressing of the sold out "Creatures of The Net" is in store. Bob Ezrin's appearance in the Partridge Family version of "Shout It Out Loud" made this disc a great success for us. Look for it again next year.
4. Finally, and most importantly, the presentation of the Eric Carr/KAOL plaque in the hospital is tentatively scheduled to happen sometime in 2000.
All this has happened because of great KISS fans. Thanks to all that have purchased the KAOL discs in the past - your dollars have made a difference and your interest has provided a great outlet for many talented musicians to keep making music.
Anyone who would like to get on a mailing list to be notified of the releases of the WWH book and KAOL 3, please contact CldJhen@aol.com. Don't miss your chance to be included inside of the book!

KAOL News Update: Eric Carr's Rockheads CD
From: Kathy Labonte
Very Special Offer for Eric Carr fans: Bruce Kulick, Adam Mitchell, and the Caravello Family have donated some of the new ROCKHEADS CD to MusiCare Online to help raise money for KAOL projects and the Children's Hospital. This gesture on their part was of great importance to us as it means that people are recognizing the importance of using music to raise money for charity, which is the kind of awareness that the KAOL projects have been trying to raise in the last couple of years. We have a limited amount of SIGNED discs that will be for sale on June 1st. These are signed by both Bruce Kulick and Adam Mitchell and are sure to be collector's items in the future. The website will have full ordering info AND a review of the disc on June 1st. These will go fast so make sure you check back to place your order. If you would like to secure your copy now and get it on a reserved list, you can contact me directly at ILOVE70s@aol.com. ALSO: The deadline for the final KAOL 3 album has now been SET. ALL bands who are interested in recording for this must have their master tapes in by September 1st at the latest. There will be a news update here on the Asylum next week with more info. KAOL World Without Heroes Book Project
From: Kathy Labonte
Artists and Musicians Wanted!- As previously announced, MusiCare Online will be releasing a new novel this fall by Black Diamond author, Dale Sherman. The book will come complete with a full blown KAOL soundtrack CD in the back - a musical journey thru each chapter of the storyline. This project will be the biggest fan participation product yet. We are looking for talented artists and musicians to participate. We need fans to illustrate each chapter with hand drawn or computer art as well as one lucky fan to create the book cover. We are also offering the opportunity for bands and musicians to record a song for the soundtrack CD. The entry rules and guidelines for both artists and musicians are now up on the MusiCare Online website. www.musicareonline.org Here you will find all the information you need to participate in this incredible group project featuring the writing of Dale Sherman and the people who bring you the KAOL CDs. Get involved people! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity - if you've got talent, this is the place to show it off and raise some money to help care for kids. Just head over to the MusiCare Online website for full details. Brand New Charity Project from the KISS Army Online
From: Kathy Labonte
Top selling author, Dale Sherman, best known for his KISS Biographies Black Diamond and Black Diamond 2, has teamed up with MusiCare Online to release his latest KISS work, a novel about the band entitled "A World Without Heroes". This fall, "A World Without Heroes" will be released by MusiCare Online as a paperback with 100% of the profits to be given to the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. Dale has decided not to accept any compensation for his writing, choosing to instead donate all of the sales to our existing KAOL fund set up at the hospital in Eric's name. This release will be a limited edition printing and personally signed by Dale.
We will be using lots of fan participation from around the world in this project such as artists who can provide hand drawn illustrations for each chapter and musicians/bands to record several KISS tunes for the KAOL CD that will be included in the back of the book and serve as a soundtrack to the novel. There will also be a contest for all artists to determine which talented member from the KISS Army will ultimately create the cover of the book! If you are an artist or musician interested in being a part of Dale's new book and the new KAOL soundtrack, please read on.
For all of the KAOL fans out there, as previously mentioned, the back of the book will also hold a brand new KAOL CD! The disc will serve two purposes: a) For those customers who have never heard of KAOL, the CD will be a "sampler" disc that will hold one track from each of the 3 KAOL discs in the Trilogy series. b) But for all those who already own the KAOL discs, the remainder of the tracks will be never before heard material that will serve as a soundtrack to the book! Songs will be chosen that are relevant to the storyline as each tune will represent the events of certain chapters. KAOL material that never made it onto previous discs as well as brand new recordings tailored for the novel will makeup the "mini" KAOL CD in the back of the book.
Be A Part Of The Book!!
From: Kathy Labonte
This project will take priority over the upcoming "KAOL 3 - The Spirit of '78" disc. Although that is still in production, this new book/CD combination will be released first. All bands currently preparing to record for KAOL 3 may also audition for this as well. Contact me personally for full details. Again, we are also looking for several dozen artist illustrations to be used within the novel. Details on getting involved with that are about 2 weeks away and will be formally announced.
There are specific guidelines in the creation of certain characters that the author would like the artists to consider. There are also entry rules and fees to be announced as well as details on how the art will be judged. All of this is being prepared and will be officially posted at the end of April on both the KISS Asylum website as well as the MusiCare Online website. Due to the large volume of inquiries expected for this, we ask that you refrain from all questions until the rules have been announced. They will explain the entire entry process of being involved with the book. If after that you still have questions, we'll be happy to answer them individually.
MusiCare Online has raised thousands of dollars so far with the KISS Army Onine Tribute Discs. The combined forces of author Dale Sherman's writing along with the historical KAOL music as a soundtrack for the novel should prove to be a powerful duet in raising more money for the Children's Hospital in Eric's name. We're all very excited about this project that is sure to become a collector's item fast.
Currently, "A World Without Heroes" is only available for reading on the Internet here at the KISS ASYLUM website. Fans have been tuning in to the continuing story faithfully as a new chapter is uploaded every week soon to conclude with Chapter 25. The storyline centers around how Paul, Gene, Peter, and Ace get involved with the infamous KISS Talismans and the super powers that they hold. Eric, Bruce, and Vinnie make appearances as well. Additional strong supporting characters such as Blackwell, Morpheus, and The Council of Elders are also featured.
We expect to have many of the online KISS fans a part of this book as you will soon see in the upcoming announcement about fan participation. In the meantime, start reading this great novel here at the ASYLUM that will soon be available in print form for all to own!

Another $1,0000 KAOL Donation
From: Kathy Labonte
The KAOL CDs have raised yet another $1,000 installment for the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. The check was just written which will be presented to the hospital on April 15th by KAOL Charity co-ordinator Tim Olp (TNTGB@aol.com). Part of the reason why we were able to make this donation right now was due to many of you here on the KISS ASYLUM website (as well as fans from the KISS bulletin board of AOL). We had a great response to last month's March special (where you were able to get a free copy of the original 1997 KAOL disc if you purchased the other two current releases "Creatures of The Net" and "Music From the Folder '99"). A lot of you wrote that you saw the special posted here on the KISS ASYLUM. A HUGE thank you to all who sent in the orders. We did very well with that offer bringing in something like over $800 in sales. After paying some of our overhead including several hundreds of dollars in song royalties in February, we were able to put almost all of the money brought in from the March special towards this new donation. So you guys can know that this time, your money went directly to the kids and not just to any of the usual overhead costs. With all of the KAOL donations plus some additional fundraising that Tim did on the side, we should be in the ballpark of $3,700 total at this point. That's from KISS fans all over the world! I have yet to see another fan club pull together like that. The KISS Army and it's 90s child, The KISS Army OnLine (KAOL) are unique indeed. We are for all practical purposes, sold out of "Creatures Of The Net" now. We literally have 6 copies left. We will be re-pressing it but not until early next year. In the meantime, we have the upcoming KAOL 3 to produce and another exciting project that is going to be released before KAOL 3. An announcement about that will follow this weekend - we expect this additional project to bring in several thousand dollars all on it's own. Thanks again to everyone who took advantage of the March special. Tim will have a story and pics of the actual check presentation soon available on our MusiCare Online website. www.musicareonline.org If you STILL haven't ordered a KAOL CD, do it now!

KAOL CD Specials
From: Kathy Labonte
For the remainder of March we will be offering a special deal on the KAOL discs. Purchase "Creatures of The Net" and the re-mastered "Music From The Folder '99" and we'll also ship you a copy of the original KAOL Folder disc from 1997 for free. They've been discontinued for a while but there are still some left. If you are into collecting at all, it would be a cool addition to have all of the KAOL series before they sell out. Orders must be postmarked before March 31st to get the free KAOL CD. Also, the jazz disc that I told everyone about 2 weeks ago is now for sale. Lisa Lauren Manor's "Timeless" is currently receiving national airplay and can be ordered thru the MusiCare Online website. This debut album was donated to us and all profits go towards the funding of the final KAOL 3 or directly to CHoW. Even if you hate smooth jazz, maybe you have a friend or family member who would like it as a gift. The money goes to a great cause and the music is exceptional so it's definitely worth it. Still unsure? There are 4 wav samples of some tunes on the webpage - listen and love it! They are only mono quality but you'll get the idea. If either of these offers appeal to you, head over to the MusiCare Online homepage for all of the KAOL info and more. MusiCare Online

KAOL KISS Tribute CD News
From: Kathy Labonte
A New Donation to Charity from MusiCare Online
As most of you may know, MusiCare Online puts out the KAOL Tribute CDs. For those of you who aren't familiar, KAOL are the musicians of the KISS Army OnLine who have come together to make a 3 part series of KISS Tribute CDs where all of the money goes to charity. Parts One and Two are already released and on the market, Part Three will be finished within a year (audition tapes for the final KAOL album are being accepted now - see the website for details if your band is interested). MusiCare Online has made steady donations over the last couple of years to the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin from the sales of the KAOL Tribute CDs in memory of Eric Carr. We are on schedule to donate another $1000 later this year but this week we have donated in a different way.
An up and coming jazz/R&B artist named Lisa Manor has just donated a box of her debut CD "Timeless" to MusiCare Online to sell and raise money for the making of the final "KAOL 3 - The Spirit of '78". But we have taken several dozen copies of the actual disc and sent them off to the hospital as gifts for the kids that are spending a large portion of their lives as resident patients. Random children ranging from ages 8 thru 18 will receive a copy. Better than a stuffed animal and much more rewarding to give directly to the kids vs. selling them for fundraising, we hope that the CDs will bring smiles to lots of little faces.
This disc is receiving airplay nationwide and includes guest appearances from well known artists such as: Wayne Bergeron of Blood Sweat & Tears, Jimmy Earl and Frank Gambale of Chick Corea, guitarist Paul Jackson Jr., and saxophonist Paul Russo. One of the singles from the CD is a remake of Gilbert O' Sullivan's 1970s hit "Alone Again Naturally".
MusiCare Online will also have copies of the disc available for sale in a few weeks. We will be carrying only limited editions of "Timeless" autographed by the artist Lisa Manor. There will be special affordable pricing for the disc as we celebrate our first offering of a different style of music for charity. If you or someone you know is a smooth jazz or R&B fan, you've got to check out this CD. We wouldn't carry anything that wasn't truly a fantastic piece of work. There will be samples of the tunes on the website for downloading. We hope to have the CDs on sale before the end of March - an announcement will be made when they are officially released.
This is the first step we are taking in branching out to other areas of music besides KISS Tribute CDs. The KAOL series will end in about a year and MusiCare Online will continue on with other types of music and tributes. There will be a variety of projects ranging from heavy rock, pop, oldies, jazz etc...... All profits from future projects will continue to go to charities. We hope to finish our obligation with the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin next year with the final KAOL CD - raising enough money over this last 3 year period to hang the plaque of Eric in the pediatric cancer wing hallway. MusiCare Online may have started with the KAOL CDs, but we are only just beginning to make music and money for others.
A big thank you to my friends, producer Joey Arreguin and artist Lisa Manor, for their generosity in donating their talents to help MusiCare Online make a difference. In today's world, not many can bothered with taking the time to help a project like this, especially people of their calibre who have attained such a high level of professionalism in their field. But Joey and Lisa are an exception and proof that there is always a way to contribute to the good causes around us. Their efforts will remain "Timeless".

KAOL CDs In Japan
From: Kathy Labonte
The music of the KISS Army On Line has reached Japan! The KAOL (KISS Tribute) CDs are being distributed overseas and the Japanese fans love it! Tokyo's largest record store, Shinjuku Records, has been carrying "KAOL 2 - Creatures of The Net" and just ordered the brand new remaster "KAOL - Music From the Folder '99". Posters for Creatures are on display there and the store has ran an ad of the KAOL 2 album cover in Japan's largest rock magazine called BURRN. We expect both of the KAOL CDs to do very well there and as a result, anticpate a large Japanese audience for the final KAOL 3 at the end of the year. Here in the States, Detroit's large chain of record stores called Harmony House just took a considerable volume of "Music From The Folder '99" discs on consignment - so if you are in the Detroit area and haven't purchased KAOL yet, you can pick it up there. They are also still stocked with some "Creatures Of The Net" discs as well. We will have further news concerning distribution in Canada and Los Angeles soon. In the meantime, the best way to get your KAOL discs is thru mail order so please visit the website for ordering info and for news updates concerning all 3 KAOL albums. Stay tuned for the first preview of the final KAOL 3 and for news about MusiCare Online's next donation to The Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.

KAOL CDs Shipped!
From: Kathy Labonte
For everyone who pre-paid their order for a KAOL remaster of "Music From The Folder '99", they were shipped out last Thursday. Most of you will get them this week. The couple of hundred pre-paid orders we had are the ONLY ones that will be shipped out until the official release date of January 2nd. Thanks again to everyone for ordering early - we sent some cool coupons for free KISS fanzines with your order.
Anyone who hasn't ordered can do so now and the disc will be shipped just after Xmas so that you will receive it on or about the 2nd of January. There IS a problem with the batch that went out last week, so all of you currently awaiting your order please read on:
The discs were shipped from the factory with the wrong color tray in the jewel box. We kept about 200 of these so that we could fill the priority orders and not keep you waiting. The factory provided us with an overnight delivery of the proper colored trays so that we could include them with your CD. So when you get it, you can assemble the new tray the way we intended it to be. How's that for unique? "KAOL - Some assembly required, batteries not included!" LOL!
We also have since discovered that the CD booklets were misprinted. Within the inside credits where the bands are listed, bullets used to separate the names showed up as Japanese yen type symbols instead! Needless to say, these are also being corrected and the new replacement booklets WILL be shipped to everyone who is currently receiving their CD this week.
The rest of the discs will be re-packaged properly this month and ready for the official release after the holidays. They will also be available in various stores in January including: Detroit, LA, and Montreal.....more to be announced.
There is some GREAT stuff on this disc and I think most everyone will enjoy it. There's a killer version of the song "She" from a band in Sweden, a top notch version of "Comin' Home" from a band in Boston, a true to life "Love Her All I Can" from Detroit, one of the best versions of "Beth" I have ever heard from Nashville, a Cellarman song, and a really cool audio clip of Eric Carr speaking to his fans from his dressing room on his last tour. There are 19 tracks in all.
If you want to order go to the KAOL website at http://www.musicareonline.org
