On June 24 & 25, more than 850 lots of KISS costumes, tour equipment, stage-played instruments, lyric sheets, original artwork and personal property from the lead members of the outrageous rock band KISS will be offered to the highest bidders in an auction in Los Angeles put on by Butterfields Auctioneers, an eBay company (NASDAQ: EBAY), and Greg Manning Auctions, Inc (NASDAQ: GMAI) with real time online bidding powered by The Auction Channel.
The heavily illustrated auction catalog with lot by lot descriptions of each item to be offered is on its way to becoming both Butterfields' and Greg Manning Auctionsą highest selling catalog.
Marking the first time a major auction house has created merchandise relating to one of its auctions, the KISS the Auction poster and photo sets created exclusively for the sale are being purchased by members of the "KISS Army" as collectibles, enabling KISS fans of every income level to participate in the sale.
On Saturday & Sunday June 24 & 25, KISS fans and rock collectors will bid onsite in Hollywood at Paramount Studios' theater as well as online in real time via the Internet with technology provided by The Auction Channel's revolutionary NetLiveBid technology.
The catalogs, exclusive KISS photosets and KISS the Auction posters can be purchased at the auctioneers' websites including signed copies of these items autographed by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. Butterfields' creative design team had access to rare vintage images from the band's many photo shoots and tours to create these collectibles being sold online. Internet users can access web sites hosted by Butterfields, Greg Manning Auctions or The Auction Channel to review the lots, purchase the merchandise and register as a bidder.
The entire offering will be previewed at Butterfields' Los Angeles gallery on June 16-18. Just as the band has been on the road selling out venues during its "Farewell Tour," a preview tour of auction highlights began at Greg Manning Auctionsą gallery in West Caldwell NJ in early May. The highlights then traveled to Chicago where their preview to Midwestern KISS fans coincided with the band's sold-out performances there. May 19, the KISS highlights were open to the public at Butterfields San Francisco. Fans and collectors are expected to inspect the material at the Sunset Boulevard gallery June 16-18, prior to casting their bids to own these remarkable items from a band that ranks second only to the Beatles in records sales.
