U.S. Psycho Circus CD Single
From: KISSfanstv
According to the Polygram October Release Book, the Psycho Circus single will be released in the U.S. on October 20th. There will be 4 different covers, each one representing a different band member (brilliant marketing lol) The B-Side is going to be the Gene written (Ace Sung), "In Your Face". Included with each single will be a videocassette of the new Psycho Circus video, along with 3-D glasses. Also, the single will have a cd-rom section where you can join Kiss' new internet service, as well as a screen saver. I am not sure if this will be the same screen saver that will be availiable on the full length cd or not. So people that don't want to shell out the 30 bucks for the Jap version of Psycho Circus to get the bonus track, wait till October 20th and just get the single.

Psycho Circus Album News
From: SpaceAce
I just got back from Polygram to pick up my advance copy of Psycho Circus. First the bad news for all the US fans. The US edition is the only edition which will not have the bonus track. The songs is titled "In Your Face" and credited to Gene. But as I only got the lyrics and I haven't heard it I think it's sung by Ace.I've also got the full credits of the album:
Produced by Bruce Fairbairn
Recording engineer Mike Plotnikoff
Mixed by Mick Guzauski
Mastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound New York
Recorded January - April 98 at One On One Studios and A&M Studios
A&M Studios
Assistant Engineer Quentin Dunn
Special thanks to Ron Rutledge
One On One Studios
Assistant Engineer Scott Camarota
Second Engineer Jason Mauva
Special thanks to Nikki Freeman
Music preparation for "Journey" and "Found my way" by Tom Halen
Strings on those 2 tracks arranged and conducted by Shelly Berg
Acoustic piano on those 2 tracks also by her
Fender Rhodes on "Found my way" by Bob Ezrin
When I picked up the cd they asked my if I had some extra time to listen to the album on their system because they wanted to have my opinion. First of all I wanna say that the album sounds completly different than the MP3 tracks floating around. It sounds much wider and also a bit faster and you notice alot of things in the sound. For example that the PC guitar solo returns at the end of Journey of a 1000 years... and other stuff.
The Cover. It looks a bit like the hype sheet. Meaning you have the curtain but
without the clown or Kiss pictures. And exactly in the center you have the Kiss logo. And as a halve circle above the logo you have the words Psycho Circus. Very plain and simple. Then they showed my their 2 official promo pictures.
And here come's some special news for the musician's (especially Bassplayers) among us. The first shot is a full body shot without instruments. The other shot is something else! It is also a full body shot with a lightblue background and you have from left to right Gene Simmons with his axe bass.! As far as I could see it on the slide it was a new model because his signature is prominently displayed onto the neck. So maybe he has retired his Punisher? Peter Criss looking kinda naked as he is holding nothing. Not even drumsticks. Ace Frehley with his signature model and Paul Stanley with his new Washburn signature model and holding it in such way that you just see a part of Ace's guitar and just his full face and feet.

Psycho Circus "Hype Sheet"
Psycho Circus "Hype Sheet"
From: AJ
I got a hold of the "hype sheet" for Psycho Circus and thought you might like to post it. A hype sheet usually gets sent out to all music distributors a month or so before a record's scheduled release date so when sales-people talk to stores, they try to get the retail buyers excited about the up-coming release. As you can see on the sheet, there's a lot to get excited over!

Psycho Circus Release Date Revised
From: KISS Asylum
Following reports this morning on Entertainment Weekly Online suggesting that the Psycho Circus album is scheduled for release on Septermber 22nd, KISS Asylum spoke with Mercury Records this afternoon to confirm that date. We were told that as of today, the previously annoucned release date of September 15th has in fact been pushed back a week to September 22nd. The reason for the delay has been attributed to last minute revisions in the album's artwork.
News From Gene
From: Joop / KISS Kollector Online
Recently Gene faxed an update to the KISS Kollector Fanclub. Amongst other things he talked about the upcoming Psycho Circus album: "I believe in my heart the fans will love this record. The proudest part of it, is how great is was to be in the studio with Ace and Peter. Both were extremely professional. Both worked their butts off and I believe you will see the results on the album." As for songstitles, Gene mentioned the following tracks: "Psycho Circus... Within... I Pledge Allegiance... Into The Void... We Are One... You Wanted The Best... Raise Your Glasses... I Finally Found My Way... Dreamin'... Journey Of 1,000 Years." Psycho Circus Album Reviews
From: KISS Asylum
We had previously refrained from posting our own album review because, even though we are dedicated to reporting news about the album, we had been reluctant to post our opinion about the actual sound of the album so as to avoid potentially "influencing" people's preconceived notions about the sound for as long as possible. However, we knew once more copies began to get around the reviews would start finding their way out. So, we have decided that we will now be reporting any reviews of the album we receive. The following review was posted on the AOL bbs and we thought that we would go ahead and post it as the first online review of the album here at KISS Asylum. Click Here To Read The Review

"Psycho Circus" Unofficially Hits the Airwaves!
From: Bob Burke
Hey! My local radio station WRAT in Point Pleasant, NJ played the single "Psycho Circus" today. The DJ said they "somehow" got hold of the song and so they played it! All I can say is AMAZING! Peter's drumming is dark and heavy, which is very cool and out of character for the Cat Man. Ace's guitar is literally smoking!! His solo is honestly the best he has sounded in years. Gene's bass is solid and, just like Peter's drumming, dark and heavy! And finally, the Starchild sings his ass off! It reminded me of "Jungle" meets "Strutter," in an odd way, but all in all the song is something amazing to behold!

Psycho Circus Song Info!
From: KISS Asylum
Seems as if the first advance copies of the new Psycho Circus album are finally starting to slowly get out and be heard. It appears, at least from the copies currently out, that there are only 10 songs on the album: four from Paul, three from Gene, one from Ace, one from Peter, and one where they all trade vocals. Some of the song titles include: "Psycho Circus," sung by Paul and still scheduled to be the first single late August; "You Wanted the Best, You Got the Best," with each member switching off on the verses; and "Into the Void," sung by Ace. Titles that would seem to suggest themselves from the songs' choruses are: "We Are One," sung by Gene; "State of Rock & Roll," sung by Paul; "Raise Your
Glasses," sung by Paul; and "Finally Found My Way To You," a ballad sung by
Peter. Other titles are difficult to ascertain at this point as they are not officially listed on the advance copies currently out, and some of the songs lack the "traditional" chorus that would lend itself to easily identifying the song's title that way. Final note: there is now talk that the actual album release date, originally projected for September 15th (though never "officially" confirmed as such), may be pushed back to early October. Again, this has not been confirmed and NO release date has ever been "officially" set, though Mercury representatives in four different countries have previously reported September 15 as the targeted release date.

Psycho Circus Album Cover Description?
From: Psychobman@aol.com
I spoke today with someone who has seen the cover of the new KISS album. The guy who designed it has been openly bragging to people, I guess because it's the first major thing he's done. Anyway, it's done in what I guess is called a hologram effect, where you see one image, then tilt it and see another. The first image is a red KISS logo on a light red/pink backround with five randomly placed stars. The second has what was described to me as a clown's face (may be the jester character) with his mouth open and above the clown's head in oval shape is the title-PSYCHO CIRCUS. On the left side are very small Gene and Peter faces, then Paul and Ace on the right. Everyone who has seen it said it's really impressive.

More Psycho Circus Info
From: Julian / KISS FAQ 2
I just got off the phone with Mercury UK, which confirms some of news you listed from other nations' labels yesterday. The album "Psycho Circus" is slated for release in the UK on August 14th (Note: they often get the release dates wrong!!) and the first single off the album will also be called "Psycho Circus." No mention of any special packaging, but that's not too suprising! Naturally I must stress that UK release dates often change, but the record company usually follows the guidance of the parent company in NY for release schedules.
Psycho Circus News
From: Robert
I just got off the phone with the Czech Mercury Records representative, Mr. Charles Kucera. He has confirmed that a planned release date for the new KISS single is August 31st and September 14th for the album. Both the single and the album have been entitled "Psycho Circus" in the release date itinerary.
[KA Note: Again, as with the similar news we reported yesterday the above has not yet been "officially" confirmed. However, as we all know often the "official" word is often very slow in coming even when plans are in place. The fact that a 3rd Mercury rep -- in yet a different country -- is releasing the same dates and info would seem to indicate Mercury is pretty serious about these potential release dates. ]

Psycho Circus Box Set?
From: Polygram Records (Toronto) via Cameron MacBain
I called Polygram Records up here in Toronto, Ontario Canada and this is the information a representative gave me on some KISS stuff. The "Psycho Circus" album release date has been confirmed for September 15th,1998. He said there are also plans for a Psycho Circus Box Set to come out as well which will have "pop up" things of the original band members and other neat stuff, as well including the cd, but they're still working on it so he couldn't tell me for sure what else was going in it at this time. The boxset is planned to be a Limitied Edition Box Set, with only 5000 pieces being issued for it, and the Canada and the US versions of the boxset will be somewhat different so they'll be more valuable to each fan that buys one. He also said that there was no release date for the box set yet and they weren't sure about a price for it either. It will be announced as soon as it is available. The boxset will be a square boxset about the size of vinyl, maybe even bigger. He said that it's gonna be a "killer" boxset because alot of die-hard KISS fans that work for Polygram, including himself, are helping Polygram put this KISS boxset together.
Psycho Circus Album & Single News
From: Polygram Records (Norway) via catok/kissarmynorway
I just got off the phone with the Polygram representative here in Norway and this is what he told me: "Psycho Circus" the album is scheduled to be released here in Norway on September 14th. The first single is also called "Psycho Circus," and the release date for that is August 31st.
He also said that there are plans for a special Limited Edition packaging of the album worldwide, but that the details of this are not confirmed.
[KA Note: The fact that Polygram representatives in two different countries are giving out very similar information would appear to indicate that the above information is at least under discussion, even if not yet "official." And though the Box Set and release dates are not "officially" confirmed yet, we believed that the news was interesting enough that KISS fans would like to know about these potential happenings and dates.]

Gene Comments on Psycho Circus Album!
From: Gerri Miller of Metal Edge Magazine
Talked to Gene Simmons today, who said they've got about two more weeks in the studio and that I'd be invited down during the period to hear music. He said Ace is doing solos now and vocal on a song called "In Your Face." They have about 18 songs to choose from at this point. He wouldn't say anything about a release date or a tour, but assured me that rumors about Bruce Fairbairn being replaced were false. Ditto most of the 'news' that's been circulated.

Gene Comments on Psycho Circus Rumors!!!
From: Gerri Miller
As many requested, I called Gene Simmons today to get his comments on the acefrehley.com article that has been the subject of much discussion, question, and alarm. Here is the transcript, incorporating the article in question: Click Here To Read More About What Gene Said!!!
More Comments From Gene
From: Gerri Miller via sundevil10@hotmail.com
I spoke to Gene today and read him the same thing you read
1. Psycho Circus is one of the most disjointed efforts in KISS's history (very similar to "Unmasked")--he says not true
2. In fighting is at an all time high--he says not true
3. One HORRIBLE rumour states that Gene and Paul have said 'NO' to EVERY song Ace and Peter have submitted for inclusion on the album.--he says a lot of their (G&P) songs have been rejected also by the producer and what will be on the album isn't decided yet
4. Peter submitted a ballad entitled (ironically) "Together", co-written by Tommy Thayer. This has been scrapped (According to this source), and Peter has (apparently) been told not to bother writing any new material.--this song won't be on but Gene says the second part isn't true
5. All three of Ace's contributions (Life & Liberty, You Make Me Hard and Shooter) have been scrapped (according to the source). It is not known whether or not he will be submitting any more material.--those songs won't be on but Gene says Ace is 'writing as we speak'
6. And the one rumour which I found REALLY surprising (which may actually be true, I saw it on the KISSASYLUM.com site, in addition to the ace site) is that Bruce Kulick is helping with some of the songwriting.--he has done some demos with Paul
Bruce Sets the Record Straight
From: Bruce Kool
Regarding the Psycho Circus record, as usual lots of rumours are flying on the board regarding the record. I have been involved with some pre-production demos with Paul, which was quite fun. I really do enjoy working with him. I was just helping out and was not asked to appear on the record. How well they are getting along and the other issues people are discussing is not known by me, but I believe this record will shape up to be a great KISS album.

Psycho Circus Demo
From: JGali80
A friend of mine heard the demo for Psycho Circus. I didn't want him to tell me every detail because I want to be suprised. I've heard pre-released KISS demos months before actual release dates since Lick It Up, but this one they are really keeping under raps. In fact, my friend is close to Ace and Ace let him hear it (against the orders of Gene and Paul), but wouldn't let him copy it.
He said it sounded like something from the Rock-N-Roll Over feel only crisp and clearer digital quality sound. The songs aren't really sexually inspired,it sounds like they grew up and have more of a superhero, theatrical, and retrospective outlook with the old KISS sound.
He said it's like entering a time warp and discovering a recent re-master of old songs that were never released. It also sounds a little like a mixture between 80's KISS and Frehley's Comet, but Peter Criss' drumming is what returns the overall sound back home. There's no overplaying or experiments with new and differents sound effects, just pure Rock-N-Roll, and if this album does well on the charts, were looking at a new road to be paved for new acts who just want to Rock-N-Roll All Nite and Party Everyday, along with a message saying that friends don't let friend's drive drunk.

Psycho Circus Track Info
From: KISSJawa@aol.com
I have a friend who works at Mercury and you may remember I reported on some possible track titles for the new KISS album awhile back. Well I recently heard some new info and thought I'd pass it along. Seems things are firming up a bit in the song department, though still nothing is final as of yet. In adddition to the song "You Make It Hard (For Me)" that Ace wrote with Sebastian Bach, seems two more of Ace's songs are looking like serious possible contenders: "Picture Without A Frame" (which my friend has also heard called "Sharp Shooter") and "Life and Liberty." My friend wasn't clear whether these last two are "new" songs, or merely title changes on those of "Crave" and "Amazon Train," which have been mentioned previously.

New Ace Song
From: Wasp94@aol.com
Just saw Sebastian Bach again last night in Clinton, Iowa and he told me he got a call from Ace Friday afternoon confirming that a song Bach wrote with Ace will be included on the next KISS release. The title is "You Make It Hard (For Me)" and was a result of Bach and Ace getting together a few weeks ago to write.

KISS Begins Work on "Psycho Circus"
From: USA Today via Charlie Zost
NEW YORK - Fresh off a reunion tour, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss have started work on a new Kiss record, Psycho Circus, set for release this summer. "It's going to be very much a classic album," Stanley said in Entertainment Weekly. "'Destroyer' comes to mind immediately. That's what I want this album to be. "That was 22 years ago, and nobody complains about hearing Detroit Rock City or God of Thunder now." The face-painting, flame-throwing, platform shoe-wearing members of Kiss had a successful comeback tour in 1996-97 after last performing together in 1983. It's been even three years longer since their last album, but Stanley said they can recapture the metal magic. "We are Kiss, and we're back," he said. "Join us ... or go down."

KISS GO TO THE CIRCUS: Kerrang - Dec 20/27
From: Julian Gill
"KISS will start work on a new studio album early in the new year - and it will be produced by Bruce Fairbairn, who has worked with the likes of Bon Jovi and Aerosmith. The legendary foursome - bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons, guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley, guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss - will record the album (the first to feature this line-up since 'Dynasty' in 1979) in Canada. And Kerrang! understands that it has the working title of 'Psycho Circus.' Expect a release during the early summer, with another extensive world tour to follow."
There's also a small picture of the band (the one with the fire background) with the title "KISS: Send in the Clowns," and "Carnival Of Souls" also appears in the Kerrang! Chart, dropping from #31 to #34.
