The reality of KISS meets the illusion of Phantom of the Park meets Music from The Elder meets Marvel Comics. What a concept! What a dream! What a chore! (whew!) What a wonderfully fun read!
The KISS Army has often viewed the members of KISS as superheroes. The phenomenon that is KISS totally lends itself to the vision of Gene, Paul, Ace, and Peter saving the world from the forces of evil. In A World Without Heroes, the vision becomes the reality for 25 chapters.
As Kathie Labonte urged, I listened to the corresponding song of the soundtrack following each chapter. The book and the music came together very well to give a good visual representation of the story. The novel is detailed yet easy to follow along with. The historical references were factual and the events of the Phantom of the Park and the concepts from the Music from The Elder were used sparingly yet effectively.
As the story unfolds, the reader becomes more involved. Reliving KISStory through this story was fun! We get to meet Eric Carr, Vinnie Vincent, and Bruce Kulick all over again! Mr. Blackwell, Abner Devereaux, and Morpheus come to life! I think you will find that all of the characters are represented as our mind's eye perceives them to exist, and the dialogue is in-line with character personalities.
Putting the book down at any given moment became increasingly difficult for me, and I was ready for another adventure when I reached the end. The soundtrack music was well performed, and the excerpts from previously released songs and one yet to be released(!)were briefly and effectively used.
Congratulations to everyone involved with making this project come to life! Thank you for sharing your time and talents! If you ever need a pen or a voice, let me know, and I will do what I can to assist. By purchasing this product, I personally feel that I have been involved with something very special, and all of you have certainly deemed yourselves worthy of the fellowship of the order of The Rose.
