I am a devoted KISS fan of 15 years. Although I was first exposed to them back in the late-seventies when I was in elementary school, I never really got into the older original stuff until after I heard the "Lick It Up" album. I stuck with them through the so-called lean years, and I was never disappointed. They have been my favorite band since I first really listened to the music. I have had the privilege of seeing them in concert three times, including the reunion tour. Here is what I think of the "Psycho Circus" album. (Obviously this may sound a little bias).
."Psycho Circus": Paul is awesome! What can I say? This song grabs you and pounds you into the ground.
."Within": Reminds me of "Saint and Sinner" from the "Creatures" album. This song is HUGE!
."I Pledge Allegience...": This song takes me back to the original makeup days. With Ace's leads and Paul's powerful vocals. Love it!
."Into The Void": Nineties version of "Shock Me". The chorus kicks ass and the verse lyrics are so spacey. I missed Ace.
."We Are One": Gene is the meanest, scariest and heaviest of the four members. He is also the most sentimental. Incredible song. Totally unexpected of him.
."You Wanted the Best": One thing about KISS: they can all sing! What a totally cool song! I can't wait to see and hear it in concert!
."Raise Your Glasses": Paul does it again. This guy writes such catchy sing-along choruses. He should be given the credit he deserves as a singer and musician. Wake up people!
."I Finally Found My Way": Not sure about this one for the comeback album. But, who am I to question the best? Peter and Paul sound good together. I find myself singing it afterwards. It will probably grow on me.
."Dreamin'": Bruce Kulick is alive and well. The best thing about the non-makeup versions of KISS may well have been Kulick. Another great effort by Paul.
."Journey Of 1,000 Years": This is so cool. Gene is totally captivating. This sounds like something from "The Elder", which happens to be one of my favorite albums. People never gave that album a chance, but true KISS fans have a special ear and this is a real treat!
