"Psycho Circus" AlbumReviews

From: cmscare@best.com

Well, I think I am one of the first people to have the full length release. I have an inside source at their label and he hooked me up! Let me start by saying plain and simple, If you are looking for the "old KISS" sound, this is not the one. I personally think that Bruce Fairbain messed up this record! Then again, who am I to say what sound KISS was going for. I have been a KISS fan since I was knee high to a grasshopper, so I was wishing they would make a record that sounded like "Rock & Roll Over" or "Dressed To Kill", not the case at all. I do not want to spoil it for anyone out there, cause this is only my opinion. It definately has certain features that make it sound like KISS, but for the most part, it sounds like Gene and Paul in the studio with left over songs from the last few KISS albums of the late 80's and early 90's. Ace is kickin some butt in a couple spots and I am sure that is not Peter on most of the record cause it sounds like triggered drums. It has the "new" Def Leppard feel through most of the record and that to me is not a good thing. I wish I could ask Gene and Paul "What the Hell were you thinking"? I am a KISS nut just like the next guy and lets just say that all of the anticipation did not live up to what they made for us! I think the best song is "We are One" by Gene. It is acoustic for the most part, but to me it is the song that I keep going back to. Paul does sound amazing and Ace like I said, seems to have been on vacation when they tracked alot of the record. Why didn't they write KISS songs? Let Ace write more because his song "Into the Void" is the most KISS like song on the record, if you can get around the "Winger" style guitar riff that is. KISS, we have all waited all these years for this and now look what we get, my opinion, We Wanted the Best and We Got Let Down. I hope you all take this as an opinion only and you be the judge! I hope it does well for them because they deserve it! They will always be the best band in the world to me, as long as I can still listen to "Dressed to Kill" and "Rock and Roll Over" and the KISS we all grew up with. Thanks
